Before speaking about  the real purpose to the invitation of the press  and media representatives  to be at the newly opened Városliget Cafe and Bar, should like to take short trip around the surrounding area.

Having a peek back-in-time the Városliget – City Park  already had a role in the  . The park and its surroundings was considered to be a popular scene, a territory to noblemen for hunting. In the Age of Reforms,  the entire park was extremely popular as a neat place for the residents to spend timeout in the woods and forest, and in those days it was called the City Forest.

Historical  Panorama – ANNO 1895 … „Városliget”  – City Park is one of the most popular parks in Budapest.  Culture and the Hungarian hospitality have had received significant role for over 150 years. This venue is the place where during the blissful days, months and years was  recon as a place for peace around the nature and peace within the soul for the visitors. At the City Park there was always something happening, ongoing developments, festivals, entertainment, sporty events … just mentioning a few … throughout the years.

Városliget – City Park … To-day – 2013.  come rain, come shine the Városliget – City Park is worthwhile to visit  at any season. During the 365 days both locals and tourist would catch their attention to the rich attraction, choose from different activities, like heading out on a gastronomic tour, but  can meet the eye for culturelovers, because just steps before entering  the City Park, there is at both sides at the Heroes’ Square the Museum of Fine Arts (built between 1900 and 1906) and just across the platform facing  the Contemporary Palace of Art (built between 1900 and 1906). The awesome sites doesn’t end here,   cause just a short walk and there you are, arrived to the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden (established 1866). We are still in the circle of the Városliget – City Park when we arrive to Hungarian Circus and Variety (first show in 1889). Actually, the surrounding area  at the Városliget -City Park  has so much to offer, not only can admire the visited places but while rolling along  getting hungry  there’s a classy place to eat  at the Városliget Cafe and Bar.

Now here comes the cream on top of the cake  coming back to the place where during the midday hours the press and media representatives were invited  to a pre-official opening of this newly renovated gorgeous interior taking folks back in time with dishes and cafe from the early times.  Along the “Városliget” – City Park’s  Ice Ring, the beautifully renovated building officially opened a new spot in town, the “Városliget Cafe and Bar” offering traditional values.  Beside the press individuals, public figures also attended the opening. The press call was opened by Mr. Stephen Bottyán, Head of project who talked about the conditions of the contract and its fulfillment. As he also added, Quote: ” The actual execution, research, designers and draftees works took 9 months.  It was an enormous challenge, having to have deeply in mind the aspect to create the historical and cultural continuity, presenting the historical values. The implementation only took 3 months. The building was demolished at several parts of the building. A new face was presented with a newly design kitchen and cafe interior. Superb panorama to the skating ring during the season of winter and rowing boats in the summertime can be viewed from any corner of the Vajdahunyad – City Park  Cafe and Bar’s wide windows. The Budapest’s ice rink and the rowing boats  give many locals and tourists much pleasure. It’s one of Europe’s most beBejegyzés előnézetebeautiful open-air ice rink for the skatelovers. One of the house’s popular features comes in the form a  dish:  the “Tányérhús” (Boiled calf-meat in broth) and its history goes like this … This is the finest dish of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. It became very popular because it was a favorite meal of Franz Joseph, Emperor of Austria. Soon it spread throughout the entire Monarchy. Hungary included, prepared in the kitchens of aristocrats and bourgeois as well. The Tányérhús is an original  gastro-historical classic, where only the top quality Hungarian meat and veggies, served with special toppings and garnishes.   Beside other specialities of the house is the “Liget Cafe”, rosted, drilled, cooked on the spot, severed aside as like in the old days  with a small glass of fresh water and a mini cookie, just like in the days of 1895.  Cannot leave the place without not tasting the “seal of a delicious meal”. It might as well be a dessert. These are from the old cook books and revives the memory of the Városliget and Budapest during the blissful days of peace in the early nineteen hundred. See some heavenly taste at the slide-show. At the end of the presentation all present were invited to have a taste of the house. The complex currently has 30 people working, but at its mature stage,  this figure may rise 60 people. They also have kids menu and while their yummies are prepared there are available  coloring sheets with crayons  to color the Vajdahunyad Cafe and Bar  and if wish so take their art home.

Looking contemplatively through the huge windows from the Vajdahunyad Cafe and Bar shows a breathtaking scene  to the oldest construction at the City Park, the Vajdahunyad Castle (built between 1896-1908) which was to build in the year 1000, to celebrated the Hungarian Conquest of the Carpathian Basin (895).  The Vajdahunyad Castle can  easily be reached  from any side of the castle having four bridges connecting this superb site.

Actually, the surrounding area  at the Városliget – City Park  has so much to offer, not only can admire the visited places, but while rolling along  getting hungry  there’s a classy place to eat  at the Városliget Cafe and Bar.

WORLD TOURISM DAY AT THE HUNGARIAN MUSEUM OF TRADE AND TOURISM.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

What a night … All our sence were filled!

Participated by invitation at the 9th event organized by the Hungarian Museum of Trade and Tourism at the District III. l., Crown Square – Old Buda at Budapest.

The event was held on the eve of the occasion of the World Tourism Day, which this time was devoted to one of the key region in the South Transdanubia. Taking into account the conditions in this region and season is no surprise that this event was held at a previous wine cellar at Old Buda. The visitors were welcomed by a glass of clear pure soda water. No wonder … everything has a reason … the choice of the venue was non accidental to be at Old Buda, where the museum is situated, which was previously a wine cellar and was well-know place by Mr. Gyula Krúdy, (1878 –1933) who was a Hungarian writer and journalist. who spent his last days living at this district and often visited the place, as it was at the time being a wine cellar. He was known as being fond of good food, drinks and was weak by heart in falling for ladies  companionship. As a writer, left his thoughts of many superb sites of Old Buda. His writing enlightens the contemporary atmosphere as an echo from the far and past era of the quarter. It was him who here at this place attributed the Krúdy Soda, which was a mixture 9 dl. of wine and 1 dl. of soda water. (Most famous novel of his was the Sinbad stories.) This evening we were taking back-in-time blending literature, gastronomy, fine wines of Szekszárd. More to it, the organizers had taken the audience, not leaving their seats on a pinch of travelling tour experiencing the Zsolnay Quarter at the City of Pécs.

The Hungarian National Tourist Office and the New Western Literary Circle held this evening show along with cultural values of the country in the eyes of artists, highlighting some of the important tourist cities and cultural sites. Since the beginning of the year showing countless landscapes, capturing  images, movies,  literary works, culture, gastronomy and special wines from its specific region

The basic principle of organizing these events is to be in the frame  of „Being West at Homeland” in our country. The presentation was given by Mr.Imre Kiss the museum director – also the author of the book of Soda, who briefly introduced the history of the soda water.

After the presentations our way led us to the theater room, along the way seen hanging on the walls items reminders of the past remit covers, metal add labels, domestic trade, international trade, financial trading, the hospitality industry’s items from hotels and other catering areas, as well history tourism cultural collections. Mr. Imre Csuja took us on an imaginary tour into a rare real world, as he held an inevitable reading of the revived Southern Transdanubia … alittle differently.

thereafter, the organizers showed the way to the cellar, heard at a presentation given by the hosts of the Southern Transdanubia. Ms. Zsuzsa Hegyi, Regional Director for Marketing at the Tourist Office in South Transdanubia who was our hostess and in brief spoked about the region. Quote: „The Southern Transdanubia is situated in a hilly landscape, which has a thousand valleys indented with many small villages. The area has huge forests, fertile river valleys, carefully cultivated gentle slopes characterize this region. Protected areas represent a major eco-tourism base. The rural tourism is well-developed in the region. It’s brimming with luscious wines. These are in taste that makes a difference from other red wine producers throughout Hungary. But the region is not only unique in wine routes, also large in number of special historic values to be seen, and is famous for its thermal waters.”

This evening we were taking back-in-time blending literature, gastronomy, fine wines of Szekszárd from the South Transdanubia region. More to it, the organizers had taken the audience to an imaginary journey to the Zsolnay Quarter at the City of Pécs. Beside the Szekszárd vineyards, the well-known brands are the wines from Villány and Tolna also worthy to mention and to be kept in mind. The region’s gastronomy representative  introduced teritory’s meat products from ranch and farms:  cattle, wild boar, donkey, goose, duck. These meat products were also brought to taste to the event. Mr. Pál Mészáros, from Szekszárd was present introducing his family owned Wine House and Cellar. Spoke about the three different types and flavor of wines he had brought  for introducing and tasting. After the presentations the visitors were invited to taste mouth-watering wines and sworn by many the best red wine in Hungary is from Szekszárd. Many may have heard or already tasted, the rich in flavor red wines from Szekszárd. Szekszárd is a unique brand of red wines, as the winegrowing region is only of a few in Hungary that is considered as one of the oldest vineyards in Hungary. No wonder at all, when we take into account the Meszáros family’s viticulture and oenology is holding on the family’s precious heritage keeping the tradition in making wines.Through the decades this tradition flows from father-to-son in making wines. Just a short story of the Mészáros Winery and Cellar as Mr. Mészáros Pál told me, Quote:”Our family brought the cellar couple of years ago. The place has the original spirit with its original 250 years old bricks. Making extra heavenly taste, mainly red wine isn’t only depending only on the soft hilly landscape, excellent soil, the special micro-climate which led to success.” Right said Mr. Mészáros, but assume much more in deed is needed and that is  the palm hands of the Mészáros Family in blending ancient traditions together with the art of modern wine-making. This evening Mr. Mészáros brought three special wines for tasting. What deeply brought a smile to me was a pleasure of seeing label wasn’t only written in Hungarian language, but also in English language. Have not really had that experiences with other labels to read beside the Hungarian language, oh only when the product is off for export, which we hardly see here in Hungary. Thumbs-up for having to have it written in English language and the tourist and foreigners working in Hungary won’t need to hold under their arms a book to translated what stands on the label. It is written in Hungarian and English language.

Another awesome spot to visit in Budapest is this Hungarian Museum of Trade and Tourism where three-in-one: the history, culture, gastronomy come alive…

on an evening by sights and sounds and of course the mouth-watering wonderful flavors taking the visitors sence by all means.

Upcoming programs for the literature-loving visitors being able to follow the Hungarian language „Being West at Homeland” see www.itthon.hu … site unfortunately, only in Hungarian language.

Just a  tinny-winny background history to development of advertising shop signs seen at the Museum … In Hungary increased significantly during the Astro-Hungary Empire. The enamel factories began being founded. The enamel industry in the 20th century had all come into existence and evolved continuously in Hungary. The advertising board was the decorative shop sign, usually painted on wood and hung above shops and more often taverns and restaurants and on basis of which the customers recognised and sought them. Publishments to these things and putting out a suitable shop sign began to dwindle in the 2nd half of the XIXth century. First folding shop door were  with wooden boards, later on  colored, enamelled advertising boards. Advertising boards began appearing not only on the shop door and above them, but also in the shop windows and in the shop as well. The most important innovations in enamelling techniques were introduces between 1891 and 1900.  It was during this period when the ground enamel containing cobalt was invented and the use of Cryolite agents were introduced …at the Museum many of these oldie signs are out on the walls  showing the era’s signs. Some of these signs are seen in the slide-show.

NEW MAGENTA CLOTHING STORE OPENED AT THE ARENA SHOPPING CENTER

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Yesterday was a great success at the opening of the

4th new Magenta clothing store at the Arena Shopping Center in Budapest.

The opening held an unconventional fashion show, whereas last year’s Miss Universe Hungary, Ms. Rebekah Karpati, presented Magenta designed  pieces of its autumn collection. This would have had been an ordinary showcase if it would have been presented on a catwalk, but this time the beauty queen showed the collection through a display window. Must say, it was a very original thought despite not really to have had the red carpet to navigate around the corridors, since the shopping center wasn’t constructed to be a catwalk.  It seem like the audience enjoyed a non everyday in manner, the unique first Hungarian fashion show.

During the evening, homemade delicacies and Hungary champagne awaited the invited guests. Among the visitors were well-known public figures, who already knew and are fans of the Magenta brand. To name a couple: Ms. Enikő Détári, actress, Ms. Nelly Fésűs, Ms.Judit Ladinek, Ms.Brigi Erdőhegyi, Ms. Adri Nagy and Ms. Eszti Iszák. They all come cause they were curious about the store opening, shopping and to watch the unconventional fashion show.

The selection of cloths still left the feeling of the summer blades, yet the fall coming closer brought some cosy, classy, warm outfits, like the selection of long-sleeve maxi dress, long trousers, tube dress, basic tops which still can be worn with anything. No matter where you live it comes handy, worthwhile buying basic things in different colours.

This time the update  ain’t as long as usually, but the snaps surely show the mood of exciting  audience on their shopping tour.

The movie’s first run will be out in the spring of 2015.

The idea of making a film about “Kincsem” – “My Treasure,”  was born one day before the sunrise at dawn about five years ago  these were Mr,  Losonczi beginning words at the press conference at  the recent International Press Conference, held at the “Kincsem” Horse Racing Park – Budapest.

The movie is on the road in the  stage of preperation. The film’s script is by Mr. Géza Bereményi. The playwright Mr. Géza Szőcs, poet and Chief adviser to the prime minister who said, quote: the history of the one-time wonder horse can help to overcome the desire and knowledge to become important again in the Hungarian psyche. Mr. Gábor Losonci, the producer informed the press and media representatives, about the film as to be a joint co-production with British, Russian, German, Austrian and American team. Concerning the rolls, there will be six Hungarian main characters, and soon the casting will start. Two Academy  Award-winning actors (no names out), including the director from the overseas, United States of America. Even though we all at present were anxious to hear the names filling the casts, it  seemed to be early to get the answer. As we were told … “Until the contract is signed – sealed delivered  the secret remains a secret who are to come to join  shoting.the movie. “He also pointed out by „winning” the American stars, it will most probably tickle  the movie lovers to see what they are up to in this superb background history of  “Kincsem”, the wonder horse . Expecting to have a big audience to see  the movie.  Last, but not least the producer talked about the role to play “Kincsem” – My Treasure  as to be a tough job to exactly find the same  horse outside endowments.  He continued, saying the will be three horses just outside the stable. “Why three horses? Many may ask… we need to be sure to shoot the movie by not taking any chances, whether the horse is fit, reliable, energetic and just like the humans to count on having different temper and many other circumstances should be kept in mind.  So … the horses will go through the casting procedure as well. In Hungarian language, the horse is called  “Ló” by pronouncing the word would stand in English language  “Low” … i.e. the Horses will go through the “Low Casting” procedure. Yes, the words have different meaning, depending what language it is spoken, interesting  in sence of coincidences.  So, the crew will shop around in Europe, for the proper horse also visiting Baden-Baden. The producer also talked about the background remuneration of the two American actors and director, calculated budget and stated that the three fame make up half of the budget. Mr. Losonci also talked about the production costs He said, they are not taking advantage government support, nor from the Hungarian National Film Fund to provide the necessary resources. Most of the support are coming from the ground of entrepreneurs and investors.

At the press gathering we also found out why a question marks stood beside  Ms. Fanni Weisz’s name, the former beauty queen of Hungary.  The producer  revealed the answer to the question by saying Ms. Fanni Weisz will be the Goodwill Ambassador,  and also will play a role in the movie.  Ms.Elena Drapeko, Russian actress, first deputy chairman of the Duma Culture Committee, will also be in the movie as the Kincsem’s trainer as playing his wife. Competitors participating in the race will all have on their disposal horses from the Bábolna National Stud Farm.  By-the-way,  see the snaps of the horses with their names at: http://vagta.hu/news/588/a-nemzeti-va%CC%81gta-nemzetko%CC%88zi-futama%CC%81n-indulo%CC%81-lovak

In accordance with the traditions of previous years, the National Gallop will dedicate in memorial to one of the major Hungarian individual known in the military history. This year will be dedicated to Baron József Simonyi (1771-1832). Simonyi was better known as Óbester legendary cavalry officer, who was named “The most valiant knight” accolade peers. At the age of fifteen was already a Hussar. In 1813 participated at Leipzig against the “Battle of Peoples” Napoleon. Simonyi’s memorial major figure will be places at the Heroe Square.

In the coming week-end get ready to be at the place where things happen …  best attraction in Budapest.  The Heroes’ Square area is stunning, no wonder the visitors spend hours at its surrounding, but this time  a venue as a Horse Race Arena at  the 6th National Gallop Race, and for the good news to sound even better, this year’s National Gallop will be spreading it’s grounds … after the last year’s horses pounding was heard at near-and-far …  to welcome horse-racers and expand this racing level even higher as the First International Horse Race.

According to the traditions of previous years: cavalry, pushing race car, carriage driving, show-jumping competition, our historical horse and gallop barriers, in a total of seventy horsemen will also brighten up the day.

Also was told … Just as in the previous years … the 1st. prize for the champion of the day will be five million HUF and the award of a wandering 1848 cavalry saber.

As for the past year’s success in having special Hungarian food, wine, pálinka (the hot-shot) soft drinks, sweets and cakes, everything yummy that meets the eye on the spot will be available. This year the Country’s Kitchen will be standing on the way by the Art Gallery down through the ’56’s Square area offering traditional Hungarian cuisine. On the Andrássy Blvd’s Promenade Hungary’s regional cities are to show their local culture, traditions and food.

Hopefully, many have had already marked the dates to spend their (this coming) week-end at the Heroes Square at the best and gigantic show in Hungary. It is free of charge just like in the previous years, BUT to have a seat at the grandstand just at the Start and Finish line tickets will be available at the tickets ont he spot, but it is up to the visitors to decide, So-if-so worth to hurry up on the day because the places are sold out in a glance.

Hundreds of participants and countless visitors have already proved by their presence that  the National Gallop is a  superb event not to be missed. As far as the weatherman’s word … no rain, smooth Indian Summer is to be throughout the week-end.

ROLLINGING IN BUDAPEST …  NOW IN SPIRIT  … ROLLING  IN AMERICA!

HERALD NEWS ACROSS THE OCEAN TO INFORM THE LOCALS OF THE “HSFE” – THE HUNGARIAN STATE FOLK ENSEMBLE TOUR ON THE AMERICAN CONTINENT!

When reading this latest update, the  HSFE  The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble has already flew over to the United States of America and have had their 1st U.S. performance. The 3 months North American tour began on Sunday, 15. September, 2013 in California at the Marin Center in San Rafael, and Canada. A little background about the U.S. tour of  the HSFE … Within a short time the MÁNE group is back in States for the second occasion. In 2007 they were performing with their show titled: „Hungarian Concerto”. Ninety thousand individuals were interested to pay a visit to their show, At the time being, the American concert promoter company had already indicated they would like to have sometime in the future the group back again.

The time has come with already planned 70 performances in the United States of America from East-to-West …  North to South and Canada.

The Hungarian Rhapsody is deeply devoted to the Hungarian folk music, rooted in the nineteenth century, This is full of character, with nothing unmistakable new genre that origins back-and-forth to playing folk and art music sidelines. It had powerful meaning to the Hungarian and non-Hungarian culture which influenced creators such as Brahms, Berlioz and Liszt. The „Hungarian Rhapsody” preformance is based on the marks of the genre itself, drawing on the tradition, taking inspiration to create its own unique dance rhapsody. The genre is characterized by Rhapsody, as a distraction, emotions, thoughts passionate surge of freedom of expression. Successive changes dynamically appear in images of the Hungarian peasant tradition of churning diversity. Most probably the audience will hold their breath when seeing the men at the acrobatics dances and as well, recognize the soft lyrical emotion move in the women dances, not to mention the virtuosity at the couple of dances. The beautiful melodies of folk culture can be visioned in their dance plays. The list of the performances dates and the scenes are wide, yet  there maybe folks  who will not be able to see the NÁNE in person at their city, therefore see below  the collected venues where they will show up and hopefully  for those of interest still will have enough time to go and have a little bit  of pleasure, an evening out at the traditional Hungarian moody dancer show.

FIRST CHIMNEY CAKE FESTIVAL … BAKE YOURSELF YOUR OWN  CHIMNEY CAKE!

FROM FRIDAY TO SUNDAY

OCTOBER, 11-13. 2013.

DOWNTOWN AT THE CITY HALL PARK – BUDAPEST

Hungary is heading to the fall’s season of festivals. As a newcomer in the line of festivals, this year, there will be the 1st. Chimney Cake Festival to be held Downtown at the City Hall Park,  beside the Deák Ferenc Square, Budapest. In the late morning hours on a pouring rainy day the media representatives were invited to the Gundel’s garden at the Budapest Zo,  were the organizers announced their upcoming plans for the festival.  Ms. Tünde András said, quote: “There is so many festivals in Budapest and throughout Hungary,  yet no chimney cake festival has entered the world of festivals in Hungary. This was my dream and seems like my dream will come true by organizing the first chimney cake festival.”  Not only the wide variety in flavors of chimney cakes will be around, but the visitors who join the 3 days event may also learn how to prepare the traditional  chimney cake.   Also there will be chimney cakes in all size from  XL, L, M, S and XS “.  As far as planed, there will be a baking of 50 piece of chimney cake to set a new record” … so we were told by Gáspár Bálint, one of the founders of the Vitéz Kürtős  (Chimney Cake).

Just in brief about the birth of the „kürtőskalács” chimney cake  which has several stories of original. One of them is that when the Mongols were approaching Székelyföld (to-day in Transylvania). The locals from Budvár és Réz fled into caves to hide away from the Tatars. The Tatars thought by making the locals to starve they will come out of the caves. In the meantime, not only Transylvanians, but the Tartars also ran out of food. Then a wise Transylvanians woman scraped her rest of the flour, and formed a huge chimney cake  then baked it above the ash of the fire. Later placed it on a long chopper and showed, said to the Tartars, “Look how well we are living and you’re starving,” The Tartars were so devastated that they departed from the area.

Since then the chimney cake made its way to be one of the favorite Transylvanian delights. Way back it was unimaginable to have not on the table the chimney cake as a tradition food at religious festivals and weddings. In the past years it has become an everyday delight not only in the territory of Transylvania but throughout Hungary as well.

For the  soles music will not be missing beside preparing, tasting the chimney cakes with a wide programs.  Mr. László Járási, member of the Indygo band  told us, j they wrote a particular song for the occasion of the „Kürtőskalács” Chimney Cake, which will be presented at the festival on Friday, the first day of the festival.  In the evening the Sugarloaf and the Heaven Street Seven band will roll the live music. On Saturday, the X-Factor smokers:  Ms. Adel Csobot, Ms. Timea (Timi) Antal, Mr. Gergő Baricz will be on stage. The night show will end by the Cross Band with Ms. Ildikó Keresztes. During the daylight there will be puppet shows, magic shows, fire jugglers. In addition to the performances, on the final day, children’s programs and adult Hot Jazz Band, and the Balkán Fanatik group hits will fill the air.

The mood was excellent, especially good to be a bit by the fire, as the ash warmed up ourselves on a cold and rainy autumn morning .

By participating at the press gathering, brought a  true gastronomic delicacy!

Worthwhile to note the time and dates, to go for the  various flavors of the chimney cakes!
