At 11.30  of this morning, October, 21. 2013. on the banks of the River Danube, between the Chain Bridge and the Elizabeth Bridge, on the fourth port on the boat named COLUMBUS – Restaurant and Pub held on board a press call by the Hungarian League Rugby Federation,  whereas proclaimed members : George  Nébald, Head of Sporting Dept. Ministry of Human Resources, Bálint Mézes Head coach of the Hungarian National Team, Zsolt Hobóczki board member at the Hungarian League Rugby Union, Mr. Zsolt Solti, Captain of the Hungarian National Team and Kata Huszti, Captain of the one-and-only Hungary women’s Rugby National Team welcomed the press representatives.

“First of all the main goal for the press call was to introduce and popularize the Association of Hungarian Rugby League.  Secondly, of nurturing a new generation, which allows to achieve international results, quoted words by George Nébald. Continuing his thoughts, Quote: “It is one of the main goals in Hungary to pursue sports activities to our children. Since the school year started this September, at every elementary school  kids have gymnastics classes everyday throughout the week.  In our age with the high-tech and gadgets kids are less doing sport and hopefully a lot of kids arriving with their parents thgis coming week-end to the Rugby Game will get into the mood and decide to join a rugby group/team.” Asked Ms. Huszti – Captain of the Hungary women’s Rugby National Team to talk about her input to her rugby  play and give some background info for my readers. In summary to my Qs she said the following: Quote.” I play rugby for the past four years, but basically for almost 20 years I am a handball player beside being on the ground of rugby. Our rugby team is based at the City of Székesfehérvár. We exercise 3hs/day. Our team is an amateur team. We have kids  coming from the age of 10 to 12 joining the rugby team. Also I give training lessons, get them workouts. We had already been in the „A” group at the European Championship. Played joint match with the Vienna’s Women Rugby Team. This year in June traveled to Paris with the Men Rugby Team and met, played, exchanged experience with the French, Italian women’s rugby players. This was a 3 days visit by the invitation from the Paris Rugby Team. We agreed to have annually this kind of meeting with the same teams and newcomer women rugby teams to join our training and exchange experiences. Plans are out to  be during the season of Easter with a 7days program. We are doing the best as we can on the field of rugby. Someplayers are still studying, having family and  kids and some are in the team beside their daily work.”

The Rugby League team will play its first RLEF (Rugby League European organized by the Federation) match with the opponent Greece rugby team.

In Hungary, the Hungarians only saw footage of the chaps playing rugby through the telly. Now coming soon, this Sunday, at 2 p.m. October, 27. at the Margaret Island Athletic Center anyone can go have a seat … no age limit 🙂  see a live match, holding the ball close to their heart or belly being on the run, as the „roadrunner”. Fine nice day … No rain is expected, said the weatherman.

The Hungarian Rugby Federation offers an invitation  TO WATCH – THE MATCH of 2×40 minutes by the Hungarian League Rugby Federation playing vs with the National team of Greece.

During the  two breaks the HUNGARIAN LADIES RUGBY TEAM will present  a seven-minute demo of their play.

As this sporty comes for the first time in Hungary, the event for everyone who comes along will be free of charge.

Disabled people in wheelchairs will hold a presentation as well.

The Greece team will arrive to Budapest on Thursday, October,24 and the host rugby team will take them on a sight and Hungarian delicious dishes tour in Budapest. Schedules are out  in   getting together, having joint workouts with the Hungarian Rugby Team before the final day comes for the match to take place. Many may know, yet refreshing  the facts is  sometimes worthwhile …  rugby league is a dynamic, highly visible, self discipline-specific sporty, which became in 1890 independent from the EU Rugby. The match is virtually the same, with only some minor differences within the final rules. Hungary under the EU disciplines have had been already present for many decades. The Hungarian Rugby Association organizes national events, participates as observer members at the European Federation of RLEF ‘s, and as well the Australian based global alliance of RLIF. The “Hungarian Bulls” team, as guests were invited previously  to pay a visit to the Czech Republic, Serbia and France. Now finally, the time has come to play for the first time an official RLEF match.

Prehaps not too far in saying, the number one sporty in Australia is the RUGBY! Therefore, the Hungarian organizers were pretty much happy to have  as guest players in the Hungarian Team of 2 foreigners players, both having Hungarian roots. The Mate need noto to be introduced, cause in the field of National Rugby Downunder in N.S.W. David Farkas name is pretty much known. The other chap, Norbert Csapó will  aslo join the Hungarian team arriving from the France being in the Paris Rugby Team,  he  also hasHungarian ancestry. These two persons have a hell of a lot of experience that will most probably strengthen the Hungarian team.

Both match  virtually  will begin in the same time.  The Rugby World Cup October, 26 with overall 14 teams taking part in the games. It’s going to be held in the U.K. The opening match will be at the Cardiff Millennium Stadium, while the pre-finals and finals will take place at the Wembley Stadium and at Manchester’s Old Trafford. Until the 30th of November the best-of-the-best Australian, British and New Zealand rugby league players will be on the spot. Hooray … for those being present at a real ball watching them live in catching the ball. The best and most famous sporty players have become real celebrities and national heroes in their homeland! Some names which at the moment doesn’t ring the bell for the Hungarians names such as  from the South: Benji Marshall, Sonny Bill Williams, Greg Inglis and Sam Tomkins from the North and also currently playing in the NRL the Burgess brothers. The Rugby League World Cup attracts sporty lovers like the magnet. Over one million people are considered to be in the stadiums, and hundreds of millions folks watching the match through the telly broadcasts to hundreds of millions of people. The biggest clubs have from 60000 to 80000 people cheer to their favorites.

BE THERE WATCH THE MATCH LIVE  … THE HIGH SCORES ON OFFER ON THE HUNGARIAN VS GREEK SIDE!

Miklós Szenthelyi violinist’s day of Marathon

His philosophy … Just playing music, always to play music!

The press conference was held at the Parliament-room in the Hotel Hilton, Budapest. The unique announcement was made by Miklós Szenthelyi violinist, professor at the Franz Liszt University and senior faculty trust, as to participate and wish to reach, be subscribed in the book of the Records-of-Records by fulfilling an experiment „all that violinists” with the addition in celebrating the 25 years of existence of the  Hungarian Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. We also learnt at the conference that he just came back from Lyon, visiting churches, where they will most probably give concerts in the future. He admitted, to reserve dates in concert halls is pretty difficult, because for months-and-months ahead they have programs  reserved in advance. To give the proper acoustic sound in a church is an excellent venue. In deed the churches have superb acoustic sound and the environment is an uplifting place.  No wonder, that was the principle, the manner how they were built and it is possible, have spare capacity in arranging concerts … so he said.

In brief about his background … „In 1975 he became a soloist of the National Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1988, he founded the Hungarian Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, whose artistic director, soloist and conductor since 1999. Master classes held in the United States of America Festival in Greensboro, Finland and Brazil. Performed in almost all the countries of Europe and North and South America, Asia, Australia and Africa. Career thirty-fifth anniversary, April, 12. 2004. major concert at the Music Academy of the Great Hall, where Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky and Brahms’s works was played contest. The Hungarian-Sarasate sheet music for his caring published.” The 62-years-old violinist with his violin already received many awards, in 1986 Liszt Prize in 1990, Trade Unions Prize in 1994, the Hungarian Republic, Officer’s Cross-honors in 2000, Vilmos Tátrai Memorial ring in 2008 Kossuth Prize winner in 2012 and the Prima Primissima fee. In 2013 he became an honorary citizen of Budapest.”

Following the press call, there was an invitation to the Matthias Church a short walk from the hotel to the church to listen to a 45 minutes short presentation from the new album of Miklós Szenthelyi with the 25-years-old Hungarian Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. Miklós Szenthelyi  was pleased to say on September, 28 their latest CD was released and we were the first to come and hear parts from the CD on that evening.  Within the 12  series of concerts there will be masterpieces from Vivaldi, Corelli, Handel, Mozart, Bach, Schubert, Liszt, Franck’s works by performing artists as: Ingrid Kertesi, Monika Fischl – both soprano, Zoltán Mága – violinist, Balázs Fellegi – bass-bariton, Dániel Vadász – tenor, André Vásáry – male soprano, Bertalan Hock, Csaba Király – organ.

Here are some upcoming dates for the October’s concert: 25, 26. Then for November: 8, 22, 23. and ending the year in December: 7, 14, 21, 27, 28, 29, 30. All the concerts start at 8 p.m.

The Matthias Church was the venue of the royal coronations. At present the copy of the historical Holy Crown is placed in the church. The church’s inside walls provided excellent acoustics sound. No wonder throughout the year the Matthias Church holds several classical music concert.

HERALD NEWS … REOPENING OF THE ERKEL THEATER – BUDAPEST

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The official opening will be held on  Thursday, November 7,  2013. on the date of the birth of Ferenc Erkel.

District VIII., 30.  II. János Pál pápa Square – Budapest

The Erkel Theater opened its door to the audience in the last century, 1910, At the time being this theater was Hungary’s largest theater building. It was also considered as the golden age of the Hungarian opera. Time came in 2007 when the theater had to be closed to take place in architectural renovation and reconstructions. The procedure took a bit more than 5 years.

At the press and media call the Secretary of State for Culture, Mr. János Halász, Mr. Szilveszet Ókovács, Director of the National Opera House and the architect Mr. Gábor Zoboli welcomed the high number of gathering. Mr. János Halász welcomed the media persons by saying, he is delighted to see the theater in such a beauty it deserves to be and have high hopes in the future beside the adult and elder visitors, for the young generation  to come to be often as being audience at the opera and ballet performances.

By reopening the reconstructed Erkel Theater was a long time dream for Mr. Szilveszter Ókovács, the director, but added he is most sure the young and elder audience dream also come true who in the past regularly visited the theater. He also added: Quote: „Of course, the theater’s artists dream was also fulfilled. From now on there will be much more opportunities for plays, previously held at the Opera House to be brought to the Erkel theater. He talked about the coming  season’s other performances on schedule, saying this coming season 120 opera and ballet productions will be on stage. Also wish to host opera and folk dances, as guest performances from Hungary’s other regions theaters. In the past Erkel theater always bared with excellent acoustic  sound,  today is no difference, therefore  pop concerts will be held and it is conceivable that in the future there will be large-scale of music productions to be brought on stage.

Unfortunately, at the moment the change of scenes on the stage are carried out mechanically by hand. It is a key question to have the current stage to be transformed into an easily transferred electronic equipment. This will faster the scenes in making the changes. said. At the former building the problem was to bring on stage an opera or a ballet performances Was not feasible because of the size of the stage and the backstage and didn’t meet the required height for the presentation, said by Mr. Zoboki. Plans are already out to complete the reconstruction of the stage. Until the official handover of the theater which will take place on the 7th of November, there will be still some minor works which will not interrupt the forthcoming

24  performances, within the series of the Opera Youth Adventure, on October, 6  started with  Háry János composed by Zoltán Kodály.

After the welcoming greeting words we were led up the stairway to the reception area, the facade, stairway to upper levels, corridors, changing rooms, renovated and renewed water blocks, the backstage, stepping ont he grounds of the stage, were shown the newly formed orchestra pit, at the remained shell form design stage and finally stepping into the auditorium seen the new carpets and reborn seats. This is where our press tour ended by entering the delicate buffet, whereas  the ray of sun shined in the huge impressive wall of windows looking onto the street, whereas flower beds caught the eye. Such an impressive bar hall. Next sight that brought much attention was at both ends at the bar, the amazingly beautiful frescoes. These two frescos (can be seen in the slide-show) are by works of Mr. Bernáth Aurél. Indeed, they are the „pearls” of the bar and even though there was second thoughts of having them hidden, they were not removed from the walls during the reconstruction works. One of the theater’s conversion plan included and developed to have rail stair lift to achieve the disability access. So from now on the disabled individuals can with ease have access to enjoy the colorful culture events to come at the Erkel Theater. Beside the „many goods”, there was a little black mark regarding the „social spaces” which will make many ladies in the audience feel low, i.e. the number of lady’s room.  In a huge theater where 15 or 20 minutes of intermission takes place, I sadly observed at the massive building of the Erkel Theater the shortfalls of lady’s room which are still subjects at the cultural institutions.

All-in-all wonderful experience give back the audience the renewed and reopened Erkel Theater.

“28TH SPAR BUDAPEST MARATHON 2013” … THE FINAL COUNTDOWN …

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

THE RACE WAS ON!!!

Sunday, October, 13. 3012.

It was a day of people’s festival, parents with their children ran, family run, baby stroller runners, runners in costumes and some were without running shoes.

During  the early morning’s hours the weather was shocking. The whole city was covered by thick fog. Pretty disappointing, but getting close to the start time the haze and the foggy weather disappeared and the sun was shining beautifully, approx. 22 Degrees Celsius, which was in favor for the runners and the cheering audience.

This week-end at the 28th Spar Budapest Marathon was the second largest event of interest by visitors compared beside to the Budapest’s F1 circus. The Marathon started sharp at 9.30 a.m. at the ’56’s Square. The range to run was 42 kms. Concerning and comparing the figures of last year given by the organizers,  this year 21.930 runners appointed to the Budapest’s Marathon. Last year participated 21 930 runners. The Marathon is equal to the Leisure Sporty activity and by saying that the participation figures say it all. Close to 5000 participants, there were 3,000 foreigners from 68 countries on the run! Some individuals on wheelchair made the range by their own and others with assistants.

Ministers, state secretaries, public figures were on the run along the 42 kms. distance, thereby setting an example that it is important to move your body, even in the beginning it may be dreadful after 10 minutes hanging out your tongue, trying to catch your breath, but slowly increasing the time will be worthwhile and step-by-step anyone can be on the list in making it happen, running at the marathon.

The members of the theaters who are entertaining us in the evening hours had a Hard Days and Hard Nights before the Marathon! Here comes what Ms. Enikó Eszenyi Director of the “Vig” Theater had to say… Quote: “They practise running, workout in the morning hours, then “run” to their theater for the actual afternoon’s rehearsal which is now the “Fiddler on the Roof” and at 7 p.m. on stage with their part in the evening’s performance. I am impressed and very proud of them. Also was great to see all along the way many cheering, smiling people. ”

The UNICEF’s Budapest Committee  … Kids on the Run with Hungarian kids and foreigners kids also  made their one-by-one km run.  The youngest of all time, Benjamin, David Szántó TV Sport riporter’s 5 yrs. old son also ran one km., made it to the finish line.

Several other members of theater from outside of Budapest also attended, wish to be a part in this great happening at the 28th Spar Budapest Marathon. From Budapest teams come along  from the National Theater, the Kolibri (Hummingbird) Theater, the National Opera House, Folk Dance groups,  Army fellas, the Thalia Theater.

As the run was on have had a pleasure to have met Mr. Alun Hill, CNN International, Freelance Producer and his partner representing the channel, shooting a footage at the 28th SPAR Budapest Marathon.  Asked about his impression of what he have had experienced  so far at Budapest and on the run. But before going into the deep, my 1st. Q was to him … heard CNN Intern’l is coming over with a team.  Who and whereis the team?  Alun with a wide smile said: Quote:  „The two of us is the team” Was a bit surprised seeing there are 6 cameras on the table, so I multiplied and divided the team and came up with a new discovery … the CNN International team here on the Marathon consists of six cameras. Now heading back to their gathered impressions. Alun told me this is his second time in Budapest, was here in 1999 and so much change he has discovered.  Coming to the Budapest this time was to kill two birds with one stone shooting a footage at the 28th SPAR Budapest Marathon was by request of CNN. It will be on-air in the coming day. His impression of the Budapest’s Marathon is that it is more relaxed than the Marathon in the UK, or at in N.Y., whereas there are too many security controllers on the way and the traffic stops turns you dizzy. Also talked about how stunned he was riding on a 656 Suzuki motorbike and filming the runners on the side paths, Quote: „Not sat on such capstan, it’s a stylish naked built  comfy, have already  thought of getting one for my own.  These Bandit bikes, as I was told also known as a hooligan bike; I like that saying. We made an approx. one hour footage and snaps of the marathon on the road. Will send it through the net to the center of CNN in Atlanta and they will doing the cutting and so forth. I enjoy every minute of the City, the marathon, the nice, friendly, helpful people of Hungary.” Were else have you been during your „short” stay in Budapest? Quote: „Well, basically my field is shooting trips to travel, been at many countries around the world, so much to see. Here in Budapest, made the time for filming travel tips. Been filming at the  Railway Museum … unbelievable what a collection is out on display there. Also did some shooting as visiting the Parliament. Made some shots at the Budapest Underground, Europe’s 2nd „Underground”. Couldn’t resist in not tell saying, that the Budapest’s “Underground” is the first to be built in the mainland of Europe. Alun, as a british born chap made a slight comment, Quote: „Alright, Budapest’s Underground, the  first on the European mainland, but Europe as a continent, the London Underground was the first to be built and in  operation” Right said Alun!  Alun and his parter also tried to visit some place by rolling though the city on the Segway. Admitted this is a fine way to discover the City  and save the foot ache for another day. Finally Alun’s impression was, Quote: „All-in-all, my congrats goes to the organizers of the 28th Spar Budapest’s Marathon. Runs through the prettiest parts and places of Capital and seeing the people full of smiles on the way makes you think, how happy the World could be and afterall the Marathon run ain’t so tough with happy people.”

At the men marathon the winner, Mr. Gábor Józsa was defending his championship. He actually was far ahead of the other runners and by all means was celebrated as winning his 3rd Hungarian championship.  Who is going to be the first at the women’s run was a bit spooky when at the last 5 kms. to the finish Ms. Simona Juhász-Staicu pumped up her energy and took over the lead of Ms. Zsófia Erdélyi who on the run at the last London Olympics. This was Ms. Simona Erdélyi-Staicu third triumph after the year in 2004 and 2010. They both received the title of being the Hungarian champions.

Here are the results of the first three places in the 42 kms. Men Marathon:

1.Gábor Józsa (MAC) 2:22:58 hr.

2. János Tamás Nagy (Békéscsaba) 02:26:44 hr.

Sweaty and smiling faces rolled through the Streets, Blvd., AVE., Island, Bridges of Budapest which most tourist visiting the Capital have to have prehaps one-or-two days to make it, wandering around, discovering sites and having an adventure. Here the foreigners had that package all-in-one and pretty sure they had a glance on their way of the historical sights and the beauty that lies in the City of Budapest.

The race announcer speaker  was a happy-go-lucky chap,  just watch his dancing feet! He got what it takes,  simply superb throughout the whole day of the Marathon. He really was winded up. His feet were more often in the air than on the floor, see slide-show and video FAB …
