News Flash … 9th “Főzdefeszt” – Street Food Show – June, 5-7. 2015. – Budapest

unnamed

Venue … Városliget – City Park – Olof Palme promenade.

In just less than a week Hungary’s famous craft-beer festival is rolling along its way again between  at the Városliget – Budapest’s City Park,  which is the second largest public park in the District XIV. The total area is situated on 100 hectares. It has actually about 81 hectares of rich park  with approx. 6500 tree stands with shady canopies. The most elegant historical park where the open-air beer garden will take place.

More to it … probably not on my own by saying one of the biggest periodically arranged open-air beer-garden in the world.

Hungary’s craft-beer scene has seen an incredible growth in the last few years and even gaining more-and-more speed-up! The Főzdefeszt – Craft Beer Festival has grown from being an average festival of attracting 10.000 visitors to a mass-celebration with 40-50000 individuals twice a year. Főzdefeszt is the greatest gastronomical event of Hungary.

Despite the huge growth the Főzdefeszt is not an average beer festival, had managed to preserve its original peaceful and amiable character … no roaring music, nor second-hand pop stars, nor grunting pig gangs,  nor quantitative drinking,  nor short drinks, nor binge-drinking and most importantly neither crappy beer.

binge-drinking. Főzdefeszt is just becoming a professionally organized quality event. This is the first time to deploy the branded glasses ruling out the ugly, inappropriate and pollutant plastic-mugs.

A must-visit venue, … if wish to know where Hungarian beer is heading … if you want to taste several new breweries sprung up throughout the winter, or  … if  interested to check out how the old favors had improved and kept their qualities.

For the third time, they organize the festival together within their twin-festival, Street Food Show, the best and original street-food fare in Budapest. Also managed to pull the scenes together just like a few years ago the Főzdefeszt did it with the breweries.

On the spot there will be 50 beer-stands showcasing around 200 brews,  as well as 30 food-vendors, that will offer everything that will surely catch the eyes and taste.

Opening hours: Friday, June, 5.,   3 p.m.  June, 6. 2 a.m.
Saturday, June, 6. Noon  – June, 7., 2 a.m.
Sunday, June, 7., Noon  – Midnight

Free entry … just to buy a “Főzdefest” glass for beer drinking.

Storyteller Synagogues in Budapest and throughout Hungary.

Mesélő-zsinagógák-300x225

On  Thursday, March, 19. 4.30 p.m.  civil people were invited with free admission to the Odeon-Lloyd Cinema -Budapest, where the premiere documentary film was shown before officially appearing this year in the month of  April on the local Spectrum TV channel.

The history of the Jews in Hungary is dating back centuries. Time never washed away the tradition. The war only temporarily trampled upon by the culture where secrecy was forced, but it always was hiding behind the walls on the streets of Budapest. History has always found the right way. The word synagogue means „Assembly House”. Hungary, however, unfortunately rewrote the word within its history. Before the World War II there were 350 active Synagogues. After the war, the majority of Jews in the rural settlements disappeared. The empty synagogues remained, but no longer served the Jewish place as worship. Many of them ruined, remained empty, hit over the years. Then at some places the local  population turned them into useful buildings.

Now-a-days, a total countrywide is forty Synagogues. At these places most of the local residents have no idea about the buildings original function, upon stories spread word-by-word from generation to generation  immortalize their memories.

Dávid Fülöp introduced the first-part of his four-part documentary. He said his intention of producing the series of documentary was to introduce to the young adults to the built heritage of the Jews in Hungary.  He also talked about the background of his idea. It all started one day arriving to the Honvéd Sport Club for his fencing training. As he entered the training center he discovered on the inner walls some Jewish monuments depicting the building details. Then together with his friend Eszter Soós decided to look, search for similar buildings in Budapest and in Hungary where previously these were functioning as Synagogues. They both discovered beside in Budapest more than a dozen in various sizes and architecturally unique buildings throughout the country to-day paying a complete and very different in function. Also was said the documentary will be subtitled in English language and after the premiere shooting on  TV will be available on other  forms of screening.

The 42-minute documentary series on the history of Hungarian synagogues had been funded and supported by the premiership.

The Budapest Zoo is now on the home to Hungary’s only koalas.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Less than four years ago Molly and Wally the two combats arrived straight from Melbourne to the Budapest Zoo. On Friday, March,3 again was a big day in the history at the Budapest’s Zoo. Two unique newcomers Vobara and Nur-Nuru-Bin koalas arrived again to enrich the Zoo’s community.

Subspecies: Queensland – Nur-Nuru-Bin born at Wild Animal Park Mechelen Planckendael (Belgium) on June, 15.2012. Vobara came into the world on July, 29. 2012. in Germany, at Duisburg Zoo.

The koalas names bear in the Australian Aboriginal language “south wind”.

They both came to Hungary within the international koala program, which needed in advance 6 years of hard work, filling 660 pages, 60 individuals work, 1066H’s of training and documenting in Germany and Belgium the koala care personals. Their doctor was trained in France. In deed, welcoming the koalas needed a special environment – home that was built especially for the comfy. As for the daily feeding to provide the on eucalyptus plant … they both eat ½ kgs/day. Furthermore, taking into sum of other tasks. which also says at first the new zoo residents can only be males.

Nur-Nuru-Bin  and Vobara  koalas both are males … This is always the case when koalas are given to another Zoo. Hopefully, in a couple of year there will be a chance to have a female, replacing one of the male koala and time will tell if and when the koala baby will be born at the Budapest’s Too.

The koalas consume just about 50 types of eucalypt of the several hundred species and have a strong preference for young, juicy leaves. The koalas are offered an extremely varied menu in Budapest. They have a choice between several species of eucalyptus, most of which originate from Southern English. The freshly harvested shoots can be kept for about a week in fridge room, at a temp. of 7C (44.6F)

Throughout Eastern and Central Europe this is the first arrival of the koala bears. In Europe there are eight zoos having koala bear, one in Lisbon, one in Madrid, one in Beauval, one in  Edinburg, one in Vienna, two in Dresda,  one in Schönbrug and one in Duisburg . Form to-day now-on the Budapest’s Zoo  as the 9th zoo having koala bears in Europe is proud to say, two more unique animals originally living  Downunder  can not only be seen on TV or magazines, but can be visited see alive sleeping on top of the trees. As at the press gathering was said, lucky will be those visitors who come around 1 p.m. cause that is the feeding and weighting time and can see them walking around their environment as well.

Before heading to the koalas resident, the director of the Zoo and the DHL representative signed a co-operation agreement that stood for the daily delivery of koalas meals, the Eucalyptus leaves.

Another highlight to the Travel Fair 2015 is truly fun for kids and adults as visiting the LEGO® program. It will certainly show of superb attraction by a 180  square meters of a map of Hungary, which will be prepared by 1000 LEGO® bricks. Is not far to say, that such a big map was never made before from LEGO like this, until now to be seen at the Travel Fair. On the map eye catching of a total of 10 emblematic buildings and symbol of Hungary in 3D cannot be missed to visited to see. A lot of LEGO pieces will await for the  adventurous visitors having 15 tables around the map in helping to build the map with the pictures of the country.

Mentioning a couple of Hungarian exhibitors worthwhile to keep in mind to plan for the next visit for a traditional holiday and share family programmes in the coming seasons: The Coronation festival coming up in August at Székesfehérvár. Fresh Fruit Beers from Szent András Brewery. Found out it was prepared for about sixteen months, but it paid the time spent, as it turned into a great success by the beer lovers and on the market.Their strongest light beer was obsessed with experimentation and the challenge was to find out what is the highest rate of ABV to reach in a light lager style using domestic technology reaching 11.7%. This became the strongest one running called Pöröly (the sledgehammer).

The city of Szolnok presented with rich with spectacular tourist attraction and the latest is shortly to be open called  “Sörárium” (Foaming gastronomic cult) to the public with a unique beer interactive museum and cultural space, which not only enriches the city’s tourism offering high standard of attractions dormant for many years Szolnok’s beer gastronomy. The Sörárium itself will have a unique museum that processes associated with beer gastronomic cultural themes, using innovative technology elements. At the exhibition the spectacular brewery the visitors can take part in the brewing process. Also as an integral part of the Art Museum and pub with wax figures of the contemporary gastronomic choices  can be tasted the locally made handicrafts beers.

The Kumánia Hotel … can be found between Szolnok and Debrecen in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county, nearly 50 kilometres from Szolnok. Guests keen on cultural and outdoor programs can go for horse-riding, carriage rides, archery, ethnographic exhibitions and the Straw World. The thermal water at Kisújszállás date back to the early 1930s. The spa at its present was open in 1960 and since then is available all year round. It has become a real attraction. Beside the numerous wellness services, tennis, beach football is at the fingertips for the healing individuals. Been there for a couple of days and definitely worthwhile in having to shoot, relax some days.

Another reminder heard at the Travel Exhibition was for April  when the XVIth International „Kisüsti” Pálinka Festival and Fair will take place between April, 17-19.2015. at the City of Gyula. So again at Gyula, the Pálinka will stand as the capital of Hungarian.
