art-market-2016

District, II., 16-20. Kis Rókus Street – Budapest

October, 13 – 16. 2016.

Visiting hours: open from 11 a.m.- 8 p.m., except on Friday: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.

During the 4 days program it may fit into your time to see this huge national and international art fair. Thousands of works by around 500 artists on almost 6000 square meters. The 100 exhibitors from 25 countries include all the important contemporary galleries of Hungary.  Meet in person the artists, collectors, experts and long time non seen gallery art lovers.

One of the main goal of the Art Market is to bring the young artists from Europe together in time and space in Budapest – Hungary.  The artists show their way of bringing upon surface their inspiration of culture in their own art work.

“Press release … ART MARKET BUDAPEST, the international art fair established in 2011 presents a unique artistic composition in perhaps the most exciting exhibition halls in Europe, that, while it features some of the exhibitors welcomed even by the oldest art fairs, gives an emphasised presence to a younger generation of galleries and artists including the now emerging stars of the future.  ART MARKET BUDAPEST defines a new cultural region: YOUNG EUROPE, where we may find combined influences from the former Communist countries stretching from the Baltic States to the Balkans, and from such sources of cultural inspiration as Turkey or Israel in the South, countries of Central Asia in the East, or even a progressive new generation of artists from the already established West. And what can be more attractive than a fair that is GLOBAL AND LOCAL at the same time?
Exhibitors having arrived from over 30 countries and an audience of over 25 thousand international visitors clearly indicate that there had already been a demand in the art world for this new artistic platform to bring freshness to the European and global art scene. “

Budapest Wholesale Market celebrating its 25th Birthday – 2016!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

A quarter century ago major construction took place at the Nagykőrösi Road, whereas the country’s  biggest wholesale market  was built up, learned from Zoltán Házi – director – Budapest Wholesale Market Ltd. taking part by invitation to celebrate the day on the wholesale market  25th birthday  night event.

The wholesale market in Budapest is the largest market in the country with fresh fruit and vegetables. This huge market was opened in 1991 after moving from a rather and not too arranged area at the  Bosnian square to this final venue.

The market’s  infrastructure and services is steadily developing …  there are currently about 25000 square meters area warehouse and refrigeration halls, 55000 square meters area of maturing banana and cold storage … introducted  the processing of bananas at 4 levels. According to the ripening controller, from the raw to the edible ripe bananas takes 4 days to matured in special gas.

Unbelievable a variety of fruits from all over the world … i.e. Argentina, Chile, Colombia, New Zealand and so forth we were introduced by Péter Somogyi – managing director of Virtual Fruit Ltd.Co and his wife. These  mouth-watering fruits and veggies are mainly taken away by fancy restaurants … dressing, decorating their cold and other cuisine menus.  Learn on the spot  there are 3 kind of passion fruits, the yellow color  has a bitter taste, the huge plum shape is semi-sweet and the most known around the world is the slightly dented which are the sweetest ones.  Also was a kinda very dark blue grapes, but the pulp was as green as the kiwi. Talking about the kiwi … arriving from New Zealand the KiwiLand … there were much to our surprise called baby kiwi but a.k.a. kiwi berries, here simply says “eat me”… it is the “it” fruit of the moment! Having to think about the size would say, smaller than a strawberry and similar to a ripe cherry. “Meet” the unique banana offered to taste … kinda claret. slightly brownish-skinned with flavor of  banana and strawberry.

In addition to the logistical role in further strengthening the supply of goods to other major food groups appearance is also planned, such as frozen and processed products. To this end, a new warehouse construction plans are on its way in to be built. Also examining the possibilities cooperation in the establishment of food processing plants as well.

Last year, over 168 thousand producers were registered, which means that 2500 producers regularly sold their products at the market. In the beginning the place was 10-acre, but to-day this area is now almost three and a half times bigger which means it has increased to 33 hectares. There was a turnover of 2.7 billion HUF last year said Zoltán Házi. Also spoke about the productions  saying, in recent years the production due to change in hectic weather the amount sold in the wholesale market of vegetables and fruits minimally has changed. In 2015 has exceeded to 400 000 tonnes. The 120 indoor merchant and at 1200 open-area the producer retail outlet provides nearly 250 wholesale business, and ongoing producers wholesale trading.

Was invited to stop at the market’s fried dough, where the two ladies hands formed the fresh fried dough, sprinkled with fresh garlic, sour cream, grated cheese. Was the best in town!

Winding up the evening’s celebration was crowed by releasing 500 LED balloons with invited celebrities and workers also admiring the large-scale of fireworks.

No matter how you count it …  back-or-forth … the Fall’s Festival of  Museums goes on for 7 weeks.

The motto this year is “Build a bridge – Bridge, which connects  it reflects to “The Greatest Hungarian” – Széchenyi Memorial commemorating his work.

Primarily the offered programs are in Hungarian, but foreigners are welcomed as well, where they can get acquainted about, can enjoy the Hungarian experiences. Most of the institutions have descriptions in English portrayals. A bunch of colorful programs … educational museum hours, exhibitions, guided tours, family programs and events for professional educators in the museum in the capital and as well throughout the countryside.

This year, ten different thematic programs are organized said by Herter Krucsainé Anikó – Deputy State Secretary for Cultural Relations and Development on Thursday in Budapest. Last year the Fall’s festival attracted 160 thousand visitors and hopefully this year even more visitors will be enriched with experiences. Last but not least deputy state secretary added, the nearly 100 programs in the frame of Walking, Strolling, Cycling is a major role of the Museums  in introducing its local nature, architectural and cultural values. Speaking about the professional programs he mentioned the date September, 26. 2016 when the National Museum of Education will have its year opening, where the work of the institutions will be appreciated by  Museum Education Awards, as well as handing professionals awards to the outstanding teachers.  On November, 3rd and 4th at the Hungarian National Museum will be held the 8th National Museum – Education Conference. Whereas the unlocked, non spoken 20th century historical traumas of the Hungarian society  will be discussed to assist in the possibilities in change within the museum methods.

The Fall’s Festival of Museums provides valuable programs for families in supporting the domestic tourism, said by Mártonné Kinga Máthé –  director of the Hungarian Tourist Agency. Also added in Hungary there were registered annually 25 million commercial guest nights. Within this figure 50% were of the domestic tourism and 50% by foreigners. A significant part of domestic guest nights beside the summer schools vacation, the winter, spring and fall school holidays are popular in leaving their resident and heading to spend their time at other venues. The director emphasized that the agency this year will be discounting accommodation in 80 rural location, so that the visitors may see where they wish to go within the discount price and at the same time visit the local museum and other institutions. See at the http://www.itthon.hu published on the website of the festival.

The festival’s public media sponsor is the M5 TV, which recently launched as a Hungarian cultural and educational channel. Frequently, will broadcast series of “Weekend Admission” and transmit special entertainment programs for kids during the coming up festival, said Ágnes Dér – director  M5 TV channel.

At the press and media gathering was introduced EVENT @ HAND MÖF application, a guide to the Fall Festival of Museums. Here the events and venues can be downloaded with the free mobile application available on smart phones. Choose from the programs whatever the mood you are in. It works even offline as well. Download the application and bring your mobile with yourself to never miss a program.

Q.: So what is in need for the visitors whether Hungarians or foreigners to feel good in Hungary?

A.: Three things certainly do … gastronomic, accommodation and great programs … Well it’s up to you … where, what, when and go for it!

Quimby’s Band – Press Picnic – Papp László Sport Arena – Budapest – 2016.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Quimby celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Quimby’s Latest CD coming out September, 27. 2016.

To-day, the members of the Quimby Band called the press and media representatives to join them in the morning hours on a gathering at Quimby Picnic organized at the Papp László Sport Arena – Budapest. On the spot the members of the group talked about their forthcoming days and month about their whereabout concerts. They introduced, played 6 of their new songs of which two were already well-known and the four to be first out.

Wherever the posters says they are coming to town like a magnet attracts their fans.  Hungary’s most popular alternative group is present in Hungary’s musicland a quarter of a century playing a mix of all sorts in style … folk and blues, rock, hillbilly, boogie, bluegrass, jug and string and country. Most of their songs are in Hungarian language, and the lyrics are reaching more-and-more individuals and feel themselves connected to the text.

On the day of their concert in Amsterdam will be released in Hungary their English brand new CD which is a kinda celebration and a gift to their fans on their 25th Birthday. As Tibor Kiss … alias Tibi continued, there are many foreign generous mates who enjoy their songs, so they sought the presence to not just enjoy the emotional music but to give a little bit more …  beside as to have a clue … about their songs meanings in having some with English lyrics.

Spoked about Quimby’s European tour  in having their first stop with „English Beakfast by  rolling over to Amsterdam on September, 24. 7.30 p.m.  – Melkweg Amsterdam. Next day, September, 24. will step on stage at 8 p.m. – Brussels – Ancienne Belgium.  Afterwards in UK they will hold a concert on September, 30., from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. at The Grand Theater – South London, where the audience can lay back in their seats and enjoy … fill their ears … maybe hear something as a new music in style. The exclusive musicians will surely take the audience on a musical ride with songs from their new album. Mind you, by any reason not to be present at the concert their album English Breakfast can listen even listen at suppertime later on once you purchase the CD through online. By-the-way this theater is filled with so much spirit … the walls still  … Cries Mary” as Jimmy Hendrix gave his first concert at The Grand Theater – London.

Their approx. 3-hour concert will be probably shorten to two and a half hours, so the folks won’t feel they cannot bear it to stand/sit for so long. As Tibi said, the music is like food having too much can hurt … same goes as if your ears and soul is filled too much, the audience will not appreciate that „amount” of music.

Most of their songs are in Hungarian language, and the lyrics are reaching more-and-more people as to feel themselves connected to the text. Also having songs with German, Spanish, Chinese words as the part of the refrain.

The truck’s owner offered as to patron to the band’s forthcoming concert with this huge truck. The sigh pretty much will support advertising the Quimby’s concert at the Budapest’s Arena. Also int he meantime serves as a superb comfy resting place for the group and in transferring their equipments.

The Budapest concert will take place at the Papp László Sport Arena, November, 26. 2016, and will probably like a magnet will attract fans from all around the country and fans arriving from other European countries. On stage guest musicians, dancers will spin around, a real colorful spectacular theater performance awaits for the audience. The sights of a real theater world comes alive to your presence with awesome light show that will be smuggled on stage within their concert.
