DUNDU rolling on the streets of Budapest to the Caprice Diamond Palace!

DUNDU, the giant illuminated puppet, a size of 5 meter was the special guest of the evening at the

Caprice Diamond Palace!

The DUNDU name  meaning “friendly”  comes from the German Du und Du expression, which stands for You and You. DUNDU was strolling down from  one of Budapest’s  most spectacular boulevard called Andrássy and led its way into the heart of Budapest to reach its final appearance awaiting for its  arrival to the newly open

Caprice Diamond Palace – the Diamondville in Budapest!

The 5 member team have managed to make a mechanical mannequin which combines enormous size and imposing  appearance with natural charm and grace, well indeed, that was  DUNDU this evening in Budapest. DUNDU was also escorted on the way by Timea Vajna – co-owner of the Caprice Diamond Palace.

Many people locals and foreigners just couldn’t stand still and taken photos of the walking DUNDU. The rolling DUNDU has  created a quite unique atmosphere and  the audience sitting outside restaurants and bars, threw away the fork and knife just to grab the camera, truly captivated his audience.  This performance really showed  a whole new dimension of Puppet Theater.  The 5 member team have managed to make a mechanical mannequin which combines enormous size and imposing  appearance with natural charm and grace, well indeed, that was  DUNDU  this evening in Budapest. The puppet players steered and handled the puppet simultaneously to  make you believe he is a live man!

The glittering diamonds in the evening light very soon attracted the attention of the folks passing by. as well.

Most probably not on my own by saying the Caprice Dimond Palace really stands for its name in capital letters PALACE!

More to the officially opening update on the palace soon follows. Until then take a look at DUNDU rolling on the Streets of Budapest.

Budapest is staging its own Lunch Beat Break

Orbit Lunch Beat in Budapest 2015

The beat goes on in the middle of the day and only last for 60 minutes. to unloose between your daily work and go for it. The Lunch Beat has arrived to Budapest.

It started in Sweden around the season of fall in 2010, when 14 friends decided to dance their lunch breaks away in their office garage. They called their gathering “Lunch Beat.”  More and more people are joining, popping around  at Lunch Beat places around Europe’s countries. The basic idea behind Lunch Beat is that workers take an hour break in the middle of the day to let loose in the company of fellow dance-enthusiasts.

Here in Budapest just couldn’t resist not to copy this daytime dining in flavor of daytime raves. One major thing you have to keep in mind is to not go into conversation about your job at  Orbit Lunch Beat. This will surely …  as intended to be … of forgetting about your job, so you can feel energized and inspired when you get back to your little world, your desk.

Go for it … fist-pumping, as sweat-dripping revelers, in your perfectly iron suit or  dancing in  your cute little costumes. It is really beneficial to public health as well.

You are welcomed to attended a non-nightlife  Lunch Beat starting on Thursday,September,3.2015. at 12.30 p.m where Deniz will be taking care to tap your feet at the Westend City Center B2 parking lot. Continuing at eight different venues where you can let go your spirit at eight different locations in Budapest:

On September 10,  – Juli & Zoohacker Corvin Plaza’s rooftop terrace. On September, 17. –  The New Empire Level at Dob Street  Supply House, On September,24, The Biebers  at the InstantOn. October, 1 – The Honeybeast  at the Sky Terrace of Gozsdu, October, 6,  – the Budapest Bar  at the Supply House.  October, 8. – Kallay Band Saunders at the Dorothy-Yard, while the Animal Cannibals on October 15, proves live concert at the Westend for the lunchy folks.

Having 60 minutes of lunch break is not as long than for example in France (2Hs) but now here in Budapest can experience to get into the mood at the Orbit Lunch Beat rather than having lunch at the usual place at the workplace canteen or sitting  in front your computer by your desk.

Hope this newsflash will reach many dance loving interested folks, but you are too lazy to dance … eat elsewhere.

Coming up … 10th FőzdeFeszt and Street Food Market 2015 – Budapest

LIQUID BREAD  – FŐZDEFESZT

September, 11 – 13. 2015.

Venue:   District; XIV., Felvonulási Square – Budapest … the location is within reach to the ARC poster-exhibition.

Already  it has been five years since the first Főzdefeszt, the hegemony of the industrial beer had introduced itself  among local and many foreigner tourists and foreigners living in Budapest – Hungary. Beer was always the liquid bread for many Hungarians. As years went by new, fine, smooth  beers were presented by breweries. In a wink, out from nowhere like mushrooms the breweries became more popular. The festival is arranged every year whereas we thousands of beer lover visitors come along to be up-to-date with the local beers.

This year, the visitors to the Főzdefeszt will witness a new phenomenon in Hungarian craft-beer culture. The clerical beer is on the rise! Will be ont he taps three new Hungarian clerical craft-beer identities … The Zirc Monastic Brewery the first real-life brewery opened in the basement of one of Hungary’s oldest and greatest Cistercian Monastery at Zirc. Also the St.Mauriciusz Monastery, just a few kilometers away from Zirc, and at the Bors Brewery. Introducing the Bishop of Székesfehérvár recreating a fin-de-siecle porter, Szt. István Porter at Kőbánya. It is the old home of Hungarian brewing, at one of the youngest breweries called Monyó.

There will be so many to have a sample on, just like to witness the uncanny performance of Freak Fusion Cabaret  …  a renown new-circus group  … they decided to brew a smoky lager on their own, under the name Triple Rittberger.

In-between tasting the superb  Hungarian beers, for the first time, the Főzdefeszt welcomes a couple of international breweries. Mentioning a few …  Van de Streek  – Netherlands, BrewAge – Austria and Lucky Bastrad – Czech Republic.

During the Főzdefeszt the food assortments in the name of Street Food Market will be available.

Sunday will be the day when the annual prize will be chosen for the Favourite Beer of the Year 2015 …  the Best Brewery of the Year 2015 …. also a new prize: The Best Beer Design of the Year, 2015., which from now on, will be accompanied by a nice sum of money.  To have these votes come alive be sure to give your vote to your favourite beer!

Newsflash … Over 900 runners join Runway Run – Budapest Airport -2015

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

It is not a breaking news, but worthwhile to know for local and foreigner Marathon runners.

In  a week from now …  Saturday, September, 5. 2015.

A record-high number of participants are expected to join this year a unique charity running event at Budapest Airport. More than 900 runners will start down Runway 1 (13L/31R) of Liszt Ferenc International Airport to decide who is the quickest among airport employees …  the fastest airline team or the fastest running aviation executive.

Runway Run has become a unique airport and aviation sports event in Europe since there is no other occasion when athletes can run an otherwise active airport runway. This is also a nice informal opportunity for aviation industry professionals to meet and get acquainted not only with the best airport in Eastern Europe (Skytrax 2014 and 2015 award) but also with Budapest and its surroundings.

More than 170 foreign professionals have registered for the event and will fly in just to participate in Runway Run.

This year the runners will have to run either 5 or 10 kilometers up and down the runway (closed from 7.00 to 15.00 hours just that day) or in a team relay of 5+5 km each. Altogether more than 900 runners have registered for the race including many sports people from Budapest Airport itself, airlines employees, top managers from the aviation industry, key partners of the airport and representatives of airport authorities (police, customs, SWAT-team – TEK, CAA, firefighters and even the members of the ambulance).

Proceedings from the registration fee will go in case of foreign participants to support Anthony Nolan Foundation –  UK-based bone-marrow transplant charity and in case of the Hungarians will go to “Suhanj!” Foundation whose members help and create sporting opportunities for disabled young people. The main sponsor of this year’s Runway Run is Airbus Industries from Toulouse, France and there are many other airport partners who help to make this event successful.

“I am sure that Runway Run 3.0 will again deliver a unique running experience for all participants.” says Jost Lammers, CEO of Budapest Airport who has at least one full marathon behind him. He added: “I expect a tough race this year since I know that many of my colleagues, airport and airline executives will be among the runners so all want to capture a special prize this year again. I was surprised to find out just how many active runners are there amongst the aviation community as well as key business partners and we are happy to host them every year for this special race in Budapest.”

Exhibition featuring the aesthetics of contemporary Hungarian handicrafts – Budapest

varkert_jpg_0008

The exhibition can be visited until November, 22.2015., from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., except for Monday

at the

Várkert Bazár  (Castle Garden Bazaar) –  District II.,  2. Ybl Miklós Square – Budapest

Respect for tradition, authenticity and renewal: these key words precisely convey the essence of the current Hungarian handicraft movement. The exhibition is a review of the most outstanding masterpieces of Hungarian crafts folks. It provides an ample representation of the genres and riches of technical, conceptual and creative diversity that characterise the movement.

The Association of Hungarian Folk Artists  (Népművészeti Egyesületek Szövetsége, NESZ),  is an umbrella organisation of the folk crafts, having the membership of over 4,000. For the past 29 years it has been the main organiser of the biggest review of Hungarian arts and crafts, the highly popular Festival of Folk Arts that is held annually during the week of celebrations marking the St. Stephen’s Day national holiday on August, 20.

The exhibition introduce a selection of works from the most outstanding master crafts folks. Besides conveying authentic knowledge, rooted in folk tradition, an important criterion in the selection of the objects was to filter out the over-decorative items that merely demonstrate technical virtuosity for its own sake.

The selected works were all created in the last 10 to 15 years. The exhibited objects have been produced with an impressive range of professional skills and profound ethnographic and historical knowledge. The creators “speak the language” of traditional regional styles, techniques, forms and motifs, but experiment and strive to find their individual “voice” by creating unique artistic works.

The beauty, quality and harmony of the exhibited pieces draws attention to the timeless aesthetic quality of the world of traditional objects. These objects might well be unique and highly individualised wardrobe accessories, find their place naturally in our everyday lives, or create a more intimate warmth in our immediate environment. To-day, amidst a sea of cheap, throw away products, quality hand-crafted objects that serve and connect generations have the potential to strengthen relations and reinforce stable values, beyond monetary considerations, in the world of objects  in our lives.

Slowing down and ensuring time for ourselves and for each other is the newly found old wisdom towards which environment and health conscious people are currently striving, as witnessed in trends such as “slow food”, “slow travel”, “slow city” and “slow living”.

We would do well to rediscover a more sustainable rhythm in our lives, one that is gentler on the soul and has a more human scale and dimension. The principle of “less is more” means quality-conscious choices and an orientation towards real value. The new handicraft renaissance is a part of this revival throughout the world. The Hungarian arts and crafts movement can contribute to the creation of values through its respect for tradition and its profound knowledge.
