The new premiere of the Temples of Art series from February presents the work of master sculptor  Gian Lorenzo Bernini in a comprehensive way, with exclusive footage from his large-scale 2018 oeuvre exhibition in Rome, which also reveals fine details of the masterpieces.

There is no other artist who has had as much influence on 17th-century Rome as Bernini. The sculptor and architect, who also served nine popes, left his mark indelibly in the Eternal City. To admire Bernini’s talent and genius, we can’t find a more suitable venue than the Borghese Gallery in Rome, whose building was originally built by the artist’s patron, Cardinal Scipione Borghese, in the early 17th century. It was here that Bernini’s true talent came to fruition, as he was able to carve every vibration and drama of life into stone. The museum’s “Bernini – The Sculptor” exhibition of works “provides a lifelong experience for all visitors.”  riported by The New York Times.

Nearly five centuries have passed since the artist’s majestic groups of sculptures were created, which are now scattered throughout the world in the collections of the largest museums. The collection, exhibited by Villa Borghese, which features more than sixty masterpieces, is nothing more than Bernini’s return home. Stunning sculptures and groups of sculptures came to Rome for this special exhibition from renowned museums such as the Vatican Museum,  Carrara Academy – Bergamo, Lourve -Paris, Metropolitan Museum of Art – New York, the National Gallery – London and  National Museum – Berlin.

The film from the exhibition presents and analyzes the masterpieces with the help of expert interviews exploring the artist’s life story and recordings of the works of art in unparalleled detail – recorded with 8K resolution cameras.

The film is directed by several successful films in the Temples of Arts series, including the Vatican Museum 3D, Florence and the Uffizi Gallery 3D, Raffaello – The Prince of Painters 3D or Caravaggio: About Blood and Soul. Producer Francesco Invernizzi.

Beside the screenings at the Capital, it is also shown in several other art cinemas across the country, including the following cities: Szeged, Pécs, Debrecen, Székesfehérvár, Szolnok, Szombathely, Kecskemét and Miskolc, with original Hungarian subtitles.

New 90-minute documentary in original language with Hungarian subtitles

Anne Frank’s tragic story unfolds on a new screen from a new perspective Anne Frank: Parallel Lives, premieres in Hungary.
(If Anne had survived she would now be 90).

Anne Frank – Parallel Stories is an extraordinary documentary that evokes the darkest period in human history and the tragic fate of children abducted in an emergency.

The Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren is the narrator, adding a powerful presence, traces Anne Frank’s life through the pages of her diary by telling a story that has made the tragedy of the Holocaust known to readers all over the world.
The viewers are taken through the confines of Anne Frank House in Amsterdam and reads extracts from The Diary of Anne Frank. (Anneliese Marie “Anne” Frank a German girl of Jewish descent who was born in 1929 and died tragically at a young age, transported to an internal concentration camp. She died of typhoid there at the age of 15.)

The documentary holds intertwining stories with Holocaust survivors who were also sent to concentration camps at a young age of five and share their memories of the emergency. These are those five women who were also deported as children or adolescents to ghettos and then concentration camps and miraculously escaped. The intimate conversations reveal Arianna Szörenyi, an Italian writer of Hungarian descent, Sarah Lichtsztejn-Montard of Polish descent living in France, Helga Weiss, who was deported from Prague to the Terezin ghetto and then to Auschwitz. The personal story of Andra and Tatiana Bucci, who were deported as young children between the ages of 4 and 6. In addition to the survivors, the film features several renowned experts, including Michael Berenbaum, an American university professor, rabbi, writer and filmmaker who specializes in studying the Holocaust. („The Holocaust was the systematic, state-sponsored, persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators between 1933 and 1945 across Europe and North Africa. The height of the persecution and murder occurred during World War II. By the end of the war in 1945, the Germans and their collaborators had killed nearly two out of every three European Jews.”)

Italian film-makers Sabina Fedeli and Anna Migotto have taken the known facts of Anne’s life and set them against the stories of five other Jewish women, all in their 90s now, all of whom survived the Holocaust. One of them even met Anne. Their stories are a moving reminder of a generation that was all but destroyed by hatred.

Anne Frank: Parallel Stories needs to be revisited more than we might care to admit!

Nationwide will be shown in the Hungarian cinemas from January, 27. 2022., on the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Premieres at Cinemas: MOM, Toldi, Pushkin, Tabán, Art + Cinema and the Urania National Film Theater can be seen in Budapest, as well as in many other locations across the country, including cities as: Szeged, Pécs, Szolnok, Szombathely, Miskolc, Kecskemét, Eger, Zalaegerszeg and Mosonmagyaróvár.

(The Diary of Anne Frank, first published by her father Otto in 1947, is one of the best-known books in the world, while the secret annex in Amsterdam where Anne, her parents, sister and four friends hid from the Nazis for two years is now a museum and one of Holland’s most visited tourist attractions. Over the years there have been books, exhibitions, films and even stage productions centered around Anne Frank’s diary, which she started writing soon after her 13th birthday in June 12, 1942. Anne wrote her thoughts and dreams in her diary, which was discovered by one of Otto’s friends, Miep Gies, soon after Anne was arrested and deported by the Nazis in August 1994. Gies kept it in the hope that one day she would be able to return it to Anne.)

According to the up-to-date news from Miskolc Tourist Ltd. from January, 15. –  February, 1. 2021., there will certainly be considered restrictive in tourism measures that for the time being make most tourist attractions inaccessible. However, there are many opportunities for those wishing to move out from the closed door in this COVID situation, where safe conditions may in full compliance with the rules enjoy the sights-and-sounds of the winter surroundings, and gain experiences of the mother nature sleeping.

The 4th International Day of Yoga & 3rd Ganga-Danube: Cultural Festival of India is coming up again thanks to the awesome support, initiative by Indian Embassy in Hungary.

On June 21, we celebrate International Yoga Day worldwide.

The following the successes of the past three years, the Hungarian Embassy in India working together with local prominent yoga schools with different programs to draw attention to the health conscious life style among the people who follow India’s traditions, all the arts, both in the field of ancient healing.

The festival will be rolling in throughout 21 cities in Hungary! It will be a Week-End full of Yoga, Indian Dance, Music, Food, Henna and much more! Do not be surprised in the cities below when hearing traditional music from India.

Here are the cities to join Enjoy – Yoga: Saturday, June, 23. at the Margaret Island Athletic Center (Margitszigeti Atlétikai Centrum) – Budapest. Outside the Capital same timing at different cities from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. may join the Yoga Festival at the following venues: Alsóörs, Balatonfüred, Békécsaba, Eger, Esztergom, Kecskemét, Miskolc, Nagykanizsa, Nagykőrös, Nyíregyháza, Somogyvámos (Krisna Valley), Sopron, Szeged, Szentendre, Veszprém and Zalakaros.

Sunday,  June, 24.,  the Yoga goes on at  the cities of: Pécs, Sárvár, Debrecen and Győr during: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

During this year’s holiday series, local yoga schools will showcase the ancient practice of yoga, which has a Common Protocol called Yoga. The program is jointly Ankita Sood yoga expert who worked in the local schools of yoga, who is the Embassy of India, Yoga expert delegate to Budapest.

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) will send two ensemble this year’s festival; 10-member Namame Gange Bharatnatyam Society and 10-member Manipuri Folk Dance Group.

NamameGange Bharatnatyam dance troupe perform a dramatic choreography of India’s holiest river, the Ganges what has been revered as sacred since ancient times and is culturally dominant for the whole of India. The topic of the lecture India and Hungary symbolic cultural integration via the two rivers, the Danube and the historic holy Ganges.

Manipuri folk dance group – Cholet Pung, which is a big artistic rarities and specially choreographed stage show. This is the first time that North East India folk dance group coming to Hungary.

Music and dance programs, public yoga classes will be organized by the Indian Embassy of the aforementioned cities across the country. There will be Bollywood film screenings as well. Indian art in high levels experienced Hungarian artists are also included in the series of programs

To participate at any of the a/m cities is free of charge. Everyone who already practise Yoga and the newcomers, interested in the India traditional culture are more than welcome.

6th Francophone Film Days and Festival – Budapest – 2016.

Francophone days budapest 2016

From February, 26. 2016 – 6 March, 6. 2016. for the 6th occasion the Institut Français invites movie lovers to join Francophone Film Days –  2016, featuring drama, comedy, romance and thriller movies.

This year at two locations in Budapest, the Urania National Film Theater and Cirko-Geyser Cinema.  In addition to the film days, concert films, literatures and language programs, theater and dance performances, exhibitions, Q+A at lectures and social issues.

Beyond the screening in Budapest, the movies will head to be viewed at other cities in Hungary: Miskolc, Szeged, Pécs, Debrecen, Tatabanya, Székesfehérvár, Szombathely, Szolnok, Jaszbereny, Eger, Győr until the end of March, 2016.

During the FilmDays 30 movies, including 23 pre-premier will be screened.  Six movies from the Francophone countries Algeria, Belgium, France, Greece, Romania, Canada and Switzerland.

ROLLING BACK IN TIME TO 1964!

„HARD DAYS NIGHT” BY THE FOUR LADS FROM LIVERPOOL ARE ON SCREEN AGAIN!

Some folks were not even born in those days … some already screamed and shouted. Will be interesting to see what to-day’s  youngsters think about the movie.

Going out to the Uránia Cinema and to watch the Hard Days Night movie is like hitting two birds with one stone!

No need to raise your eyebrow, here comes the answer ….

The Urania Cinema is not only one of the oldest and prodigious cinema in Budapest, but also one of Europe’s most marvellous theater building, built-in neo-Moorish style -1894.  Way back in time, originally it was operating as a club, science promotional events later scene, eventually fated adventure movies and last but not least over the past years, beside classical and contemporary films. The Film Theater presents the world’s awesome productions sharing films taken at the New York Metropolitan Opera, the Moscow Bolsoj Ballet, the Saint Petersburg Mariinsky Theater, the London Royal Opera House, the National Theater, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theater with their digital HD projectors and sound system these become very popular by the movie lovers.

It is also a moody meeting place for public to be in a superb environment to have a cuppa of tea and snacks whilst waiting to have your seat and watch one of your interested films. Well, this was just a short background added to the Uránia Cinema, as a drop of water into the Sea.

The real update is about THE FILM which most probably by millions around the world have had already seen when they were in their teens. Yup, talking about the „HARD DAYS NIGHT” Staring John Lennon R.I.P. , Sir Paul McCartney, George Harrison R.I.P. and Ringo Starr, directed by Richard Lester.

The movie is celebrating its 50th anniversary and can be seen as digitally restored in high quality pictures and remastered 5.1 surround sound on the big screen. The film is coming out again in your town and all over the world again. The sound was mixed by Giles Martin, the Beatles producer George Martin’s son who’s name is also connected to the legendary Abbey Road Studios.

The movie takes place in ’64 and is a documentary, ​ shows a realistic picture in 24Hs where and what’s about to happen before a live recording the television show with the four lads from Liverpool, namely THE BEATLES … John, Paul, George and Ringo. The four lads decided for the first time not to pay too much attention to the rules they are given and go on their own to get a taste a bit of freedom. So they circumvented as many rules as they bear to do so. The figure that twists-and-turns the happenings is caused by Paul’s grandpa, who needs extra attention.  More than a dozen of well-known Beatles tunes fulfill the air at the cinema and listening to these „oldies” will surely bring back many folks cool and superb memories that’s for sure.

The „Hard Days Night” first comeback intro started on October, 30. 2014. at the Uránia Cinema in Budapest and in the forthcoming weeks it will be covered at 14 countrywide at main cinemas … at  Balatonfüred, Debrecen, Eger, Hévíz, Jászberény, Kecskemét, Miskolc, Poroszló, Salgótarján, Szeged, Szentgotthárd, Szolnok, Szombathely és Tapolca.

It all started Ten Years ago  …  The celebration starts at Ten  A.M. …

Ten kilometer on the run!

This week-end, the weather will be in favor for outdoor programs, so the weather guru spread the news, and having had said that, hopefully there is nothing to spoil by enjoying the ray of sun and having a splendid time with family members and friends.

Hungary joined the European Union on May, 1. 2004. and as to celebrate  this event a 10-kilometer run kicks off at 10 a.m. The route planned through one of the most beautiful areas of Europe…  the center of Budapest and the River Danube. Rolling by the emblematic venues … the Margaret Bridge, passing the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, the Rudas Baths, Castle Garden Bazaar and so forth will be a superb occasion for foreigners staying in Budapest to have a glance and better on take a full visit to these highlights of the Capital. These routes were completed by developments of ten major European Union funding. The performers in a ten-year-old Hungary’s run will receive a symbolizing medal.  So for the „roadrunners” pretty sure this a good news … The run is free of charge. The start and the results will be published at the Downtown Erzsébet (Elisabeth) Square. This venue will stand for the day as  Fesztival on the “Day of Europa Day”.  Family programs will be throughout the day. Outlining some program as: kids puppet show, the ester chain fairy band, kids bouncy castle (to loosen their redundant energies), arts and crafts, slam poetry competition, international jazz concert, culinary delights. Needn’t have to worry all your sensory organs will may be filled on the spot.

Beside the 10 years anniversary celebration held in Budapest further additional cities in Hungary are holding Europe Day celebrations between the May, the 1st and 16th. 2014. Here are some dated and cities, if you around these places: May, 1. –Békéscsaba, May, 3. – Somoskő, Szekszárd and Pécs, May, 8. – Kaposvár, Nyíregyháza and Gyöngyös, May, 9. – Kecskemét, Szolnok and Szomnbathely, May, 10. – Dunaújvros, Szeged and Debrecen, May, 11. – Budapest, Veszprém and Miskolc, May, 16. – Győr, Tatabánya and Zalaegerszeg.

A joint sensational jazz concert with 10 awesome musicians, 9 arriving from other European Union countries to celebrate with Hungary the 10th anniversary.  Also the High Mountain Underground, the last but not least the 30Y concert will close the program of the day with guest Jenő Menyhárt.

At the Podium Stage … “100 years, 25 years, 10 years shown through a photo exhibition turning points in Europe”. On display André Kertész, Lobenwein works  of Thomas  and the EU accession in 2004 documenting with photos. In connection with the theme of the day Eph Stephen Zambo will hold a presentation titled: “Iron Curtain in Europe and beyond”.

The Europe Day stands for as European celebration of peace and unity. On this day of historical significance “Schuman declaration” anniversary. This year’s Europe Day celebrations will also be commemorating the history of Europe which is also an important determinant of events. Ten countries joined in 2004 and are celebrating the accession of the ten-year anniversary including Hungary. Most sure many may remember, or should I say will never forget the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain came down 25 years ago, and the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War I, as well.

The is of the European Commission Representation in Hungary and Széchényi 2020 program supervisor Prime Minister on behalf of the Vienna-Bratislava-Budapest runs BB Ultramarathon organizers. Other supporters of the event are the European Parliament Information Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

HAPPY 190th BIRTHDAY TO THE NATIONAL THEATER MISKOLC – HUNGARY

The National Theater of Miskolc was Hungary’s first indoor theater spoken the language of the country.

Where …  1. Déryné Street – Miskolc.

Just about 190 years ago on August, 24. 1823 opened its doors to the public. To honor this illustrious anniversary, the Miskolc National Theater held a full-day unforgettable „190th YEAR BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION” on Saturday, September 1. 2013. The program started as the clock hit the 10 a.m. with fanfare in the windows around the Déryné park and the countdown by tens went from 190 to open the celebration to the National Theater of Miskolc 190 years of existence. Then step-by-step at the theater’s entrance platform theater members came and gave a short performance and roles of the company’s past and recent repertoire. Yet, this time the comedy was not missing in their show-off.

As the clock hit the 10 a.m. fanfare in the windows around the Déryné park and the countdown by tens went from 190 to open the celebration to the National Theater of Miskolc 190 years of existence.

Then step-by-step at the theater’s entrance platform artist members came and gave a short performance of their past and recent plays. At first, the  opening sentence was Tatars in Hungary, by Attila Béres.

One of the most attractive scene was brought by the play of Shakespeare “To be or not to be” … a’la 6 great monologue clash, directed by Csaba Kiss.

Back-in-time with the remembering actress and actor Ms. Éva Ruttkai and Mr. Zoltán Latinovits meeting at Miskolc, narrator Artúr Szöcs.

What should we take against pneumonia? … by Mr. Máté Szabó. Summoning Déryné and yellow beetle.

Dance-music … back-time-time, Mr. Gábor Rusznyák.

An hour before noon, at 11 a.m., game-time … kids time … hullabaloo kids:  Table-tennis, theatrical makeup for girls and boys,  animals costume, fashion show.

As they say … Long live those who from time-to-time have some rest! Sun beds and parasols, refreshments and of course the famous local beer, the „Korty”, at the locally brewery and other Borsodi beer were to please and add a little rest for the parents.

3 p.m. Street Party with the members of the Miskolc Ballet.

4 p.m. Staying by the figures to the year 1823 of the National Theater opening, came the running race of 1823-meters. Individuals, beside the theater members fasten their running shoes and off they went for a run of 1823 meters in distance. The distance was twice the length to-and-from the stage entrance door. The winner of the race received two-tickets to an evening’s performance.

Usually, when you receive an invitation to join and celebrate a birthday party, you carry a gift. Here at Miskolc, the National Theater presented more than one gift to its faithful audience of their repertoire. What a day… four plays in a row in one day from their last season was brought on stage: The Garret, The Bald Soprano, Hamlet, Play it again, Sam! and the one-time played, Carmen in ballet.

As the day turned into the night, getting close to the end of the 1st. of September, 190 piece of candles were brought to the entrance, under the arcades of the theater, whereas a serenade by the Symphonic Orchestra of Miskolc, conducted by Mr. Ádám Cser was held beside the candlelight. Was a splendid, unforgettable day for locals, individuals from other regions of Hungary and the tourist in town spending time, seeing how the Hungarians partied, celebrated the 190 years old National Theater.

I hope by the time you read this update to the bottom line you will also wish to be a part and have seats at the Miskolc National Theater’s one or more than one of their plays, musicals, opera and so forth, if not you’ll pretty sure miss something awesome performances to see. Aware it is not fair to mention only one of the day’s gift show, but cannot hold back the superb show by the actor Mr. László Görög, as Allan Félix, in the play of Woody Allen … Play it again, Sam. Many of us witnessed a unique show directed by Mr. Attila Béres with the great scenes brought on stage by the production designer Mr. Balázs Horesnyi .

Was a splendid, unforgettable day for locals, individuals from other regions of Hungary and  indeed for those tourists being at the right place in the right time, being in the hustle at the City of Miskolc.
