From the 1st of July, a documentary on the career of Frank Zappa, one of the legendary figures in rock history, will arrive to hungarian cinemas, with special never-before-seen footage from the Zappa family archive. The film is shown in Budapest at the Uránia NationalFilm Theater and in many art cinemas throughout the country.

The production of the portrait film Zappa, which will be released in cinemas in the spirit of a “fans for fans” approach, was originally started with crowdfunding, which was joined by many people around the world with micro-donations. Later, the Zappa family took note of the initiative and joined the supporters and professional partners: one of Frank Zappa’s sons, Ahmet Zappa, was a producer on the film. 

Thanks to the family’s support, exclusive, never-before-seen archive footage and face-to-face interviews reveal the life, art career, and personal history of one of the most charismatic musical geniuses of the 20th century – including his political stance, which he never hid under a veil. 
“With the Zappa movie, you get a glimpse into the mind of a genius… and then you’ll see the world differently,” the Critic for The Boston Globe wrote about the film.


The film will be shown in hungarian cinemas from July, 1.with Hungarian subtitles, in the distribution of Pannonia Entertainment. It is only shown in the Uránia National Film Theater at Budapest and is shown around several art cinemas throughout the country, including Pécs, Miskolc, Szombathely, Cegléden, Szentendre and Jászberény.

The music band will open up its seventh The magic of music brings to life the 12 most beautiful open-air venues and historic squares of our city until the end of August. This season, nearly 350 free concerts will be performed, with children’s, youth, classical, folk and jazz shows for all ages, as well as an interactive program of their own designed community instruments.

The official trophy of the European Football Championship has arrived in Hungary, which fans can see up close until 16 June in the UEFA Budapest fan zone, in the area of ​​the Városliget Ice Rink.

The cup was first lifted by the winning team in 1960, the first European Championship. It was named after Henri Delaunay, secretary of the European Football Association, the idea’s European champion, who presented his plan in 1927, but preparations did not begin until 1954. The final decision to announce the European Championships was made at the 1957 UEFA Congress, but Delaunay could no longer live up to it, having died two years earlier. In his honor, the European Football Association named the trophy after him.

UEFA presented a new goblet for the 2008 European Championships. The trophy was made by Asprey jewelery in London for 30,700 euros, or 11 million forints. The new goblet is very similar to the original, but its size has changed slightly, for example, the silver base has become larger. It is 60 centimeters high and weighs 7.6 kilograms, which is nearly a third larger and 400 grams lighter than before. The cup, which has been used since 1960, is still engraved with the names of the winners on the pedestal, and the new version is already on the back.

The trophy already toured the organizing cities in the spring, and was a guest in Budapest at the end of April. Until June 16, fans can also see up close in UEFA’s Budapest fan zone, in the area of ​​the Városliget Ice Rink.

Bringing Life to Art … Art to Lives!

This will be the first major national cultural event for the reopening. This year, its course will be slightly different, adjusted to the conditions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and first and foremost, with safety in mind, in full compliance with the effective sanitary requirements. At the same time, however planned it in a way, which assures that the safety protocols do not influence the appeal to their offer. This weekend will be the closest to the summer solstice. With the museums reopening will be in line with the current epidemiological situation.

To-day was held the press conference the series to the Long Night of Museums event in the Ráth Villa @ Budapest hosted by Hajnal Kassai, Head of Department, EMMI, Museum Department.

The Long Night of Museums (e.i. Night of Museums) is a cultural event in which museums and cultural institutions in an area cooperate to remain open late into the night to introduce themselves to new potential patrons.

The special feature of the event was the solemn greeting of this year’s 130-year-old Kelen nostalgia boat and the first trip of this year’s St. Nicholas motorcycle, which was renovated inside and out. The company looks forward to the 2021 Lake Balaton season, celebrating the 175th anniversary of Lake Balaton navigation with a large series of programs, spectacular activities and renovated boats in the spirit of tradition and modernization.

On June 12, 2021, the renovated flagship of BAHART, the Szent Miklós (St. Nichola) motorboat, sailed from Siófok to Balatonfüred as the grand opening of the jubilee summer sailing season. „World Chess Hall of Fame was founded in 1984 on the idea of ​​Steven Doyle, then president of the American Chess Association. It opened in 1986 in New Windsor, New York. Its location has changed several times: from New Windsor first to Washington, then to Miami, and finally in 2011 to its current location in Saint Louis, Missouri.

In 1986, only the U.S. Chess Hall of Fame was established and owned a small museum. The museum featured some Russian chess books signed by Bobby Fischer, a silver chess set by Paul Morphy, and plaques depicting the great masters of recent times.

The museum moved to Washington in 1992, where the American Chess Association took over its management. KAFF 2021 – Animation Film Festival to be held again @ Kecskemét – Hungary

KAFF is Hungary’s largest animation film festival and definitely awaiting animation film lovers!

In brief … Jenő Huszka’s operett is a real piece, strengthening national emotions, imbued with humor and love, about Count Gyula Andrássy, the later Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and Queen Elizabeth (Sisi) ‘s unfulfilled, historically unproven love.

Queen Elizabeth loved the Hungarians, and the people saw her savior in her as well. Zsófia Sisi’s opposition to Princess and her desire for freedom sympathized with the feelings of the Hungarians. At the same time she brought with her disapproval of the Austrian court.

Count Gyula Andrássy trying to find a way out for the Hungarians from the frustrating situation threatening an armed revolution.  The Museum of Fine Arts  finally  reach the time to reopen its gates to the visitors to the world of Fine Art at the Michelangelo Hall.

Around midday the Director of the Fine Art Museum Mr. László Baán opened  to the media representatives and talked about the reopening of the museum again for the public after the pending pandemic. He spoke about facing a brand new catalog and an extraordinary exhibition, whereas marking the 150th anniversary of the Collection of Prints and Drawings. With this exhibition and the catalog they are celebrating the 150th anniversary of their unique European ranking collection. Also added…“Last time the finest pieces in the Collection of Prints and Drawings were published was 22 years ago, in 1999.  Then the exhibition was entitled Dürer to Dali. Master drawings in Budapest at the Museum of Fine Arts.  The 150th anniversary is a perfect opportunity to revisit the history of the collection in  the light of new  criterion and can present the finest works of collections of the two institutions reunited in 2012, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Hungarian Gallery – Budapest. Following the museums tradition, the new richly illustrated volume “The Paper Side of Art. Eight Centuries of Drawings and Prints in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts – Hungarian National Gallery – Budapest, containing 50 of our most excellent works on paper, is so accompanied by a cabinet exhibition. The Paper Side of Art: from Leonardo to Miró. Spellbound by 150 years of collecting Prints and Drawings. The pieces on display are among the most sensitive drawing and prints, therefore can be exhibited only rarely. Some exceptional pieces are along well-known artist such as: Leonardo Raphael,Rembrandt, Picasso,Miro, Schiele,  Mihány Munkácsy,  József Rippl Rónai, Jenő Zichy and Miklós Barabás. In the frame of the exhibition can also discover some outstanding new acquisitions as well as some hitherto  less familiar works.”

The various collections at the Museum of Fine Arts – Hungarian National Gallery hold over 10000 drawings and almost 200000 prints, dating  back from the mid 14th century to the 21st century.

The new catalog gives a comprehensive overview of the entirety of paper-based art, shining light on the parallels that appears throughout the centuries … e.g. chiaroscuro prints, creative copies, autonomous landscape drawings, the emergence of printmarking as an autonomous genre and the expanding of the boundaries of drawn and printed techniques and the distinctive artistic attitude that derives from  the use of paper.

The visitors  to the exhibition and readers of the album are likewise guided behind the scenes of the museum. In the catalog, curators write e.g. about the museum’s involvement in research and about how the collection are managed and operated. In addition contemporary artist speak for better understand of the special relationship that artists have with paper. The  album can be purchased on the spot at the “Gift Shop”
