Place: 30. Csiky S. Street – Eger

Officially opened on Friday, May 15, 2015.

You were caught by the Beatle’s bug there is your place to visit.

Prior to the opening, the media representatives were welcomed by Marianna Micskei Bányainé – Director Korona Hotel who said the Hotel’s space and cellar was a perfect venue to open the museum after several rebuilding took place. Two independent Beatles collectors: Gábor Molnár and Gábor Peterdi were and are fanatic collectors of the Fab4. Since 1978, Gábor Peterdi had been collecting, captured audio and video materials and a number of valuable relic material, literature and contemporary library of publications and many photos by  Dezső Hoffman (1912-1986) who was a Hungarian photographer. He earned international acclaim in the ’60s shooting photographs of the Beatles, Dusty Springfield, Rolling Stones, Marilyn Monroe, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and a bunch of famous artists around in those days. Gábor Molnár – author of the „Immortal” book of The Beatles, been a huge collector of discs, DVD’s  and other items from the late sixties to the present day. As the two collectors said now they finally found its worthy home and here they revealed their Beatles memorabilia collection to the public, but previously went through the „Yellow Brick Road” and after several years of unsuccessful attempts found the ideal location to keep the Beatles’ flame alive at the Hotel Korona – Eger. The Beatles Museum in Eger is the one and only national icon of the four lads and regarding to the international level, it stands in the fourth place in the line after the first at Albert Dock – Liverpool – UK, following Halle – Germany and one in Buenos Aires – Argentina – South America. The official opening was held by János Bródy Kossuth Prize-winning singer, composer. János Bródy said, the significance of the Beatles can not be overestimated, not only by the number of their fantastic music, but at the time being was also a revolution in communication through their music and left a milestone for  posterity. The “Mushroom Heads” were the first ones not with just their performances, but their studio recordings creating something everlasting. The Beatles Museum has a twist in its name called to be on the „Egri Road” pronouncing as „Eggrie Road” which sounds more familiar to the „Abbey Road” at the Hotel Korona. After the offical opening, fans stormed the  Eggrie Road. Was already a fantastic atmosphere on the first day of introducing the collection. After the official opening tour we stopped in the gift shop and the cashier suggested we continue our tour in the museum around the corner which included a movie, collection with uncountable items, such as a piece of brick from the Liverpool Club “The Cavern” with an original entry ticket, the place the Beatles first performed. The bricks were auctioned when the building was demolished in ’83. Want to have the look as a Beatle, no problem, there on the spot can be purchased  the Beatle style black wigs. For any Beatles Fan, lots to see and interesting layout you will get it all, atmosphere, music, celebration, history, it’s a beatles shrine! After the  official opening already awaited by a large number of visitor to the interactive exhibition while having six turns to entrance. Take your camera locals and foreigners … step into history,  its brilliant and must-see place for all and save your day’s memories from the „Eggrie Road”. By the time the evening came, the Beatles’ greatest hits was presented at the Dobó Square  with the concert of  The Blackbirds. The museum’s opening hours and entrance fees are rolling in the side-show and  in the meantime enjoy the ride.

Now there is a Beatles Museum in Hungary which would be the 4th in the World that is in the City of Eger!

Meet the machines that change the world.

District V.,  Erzsébet (Elizabeth) Square – Akvarium Club – Budapest

Thursday, May, 14. – Saturday, May, 16.

Budapest 3D Printing Days, organized for the 3rd. time this year and brings 40 exhibitors on hand. The visitors will also be offered have a chance to explore and try out the latest 3D printers and software.  The aim is to showcase the very best of this technology to the audience – returning visitors will be awarded by the rapid nature of development in this field, which is also observable in the local markets as well.  It is about so much more than printing plastic trinkets … less spectacular but all the more relevant production technology and product development integration will slowly reshape the industrial background behind our object culture.

The concept of 3D printing is unbelievably broad and when we  … mistakenly … reduce it to action figure printers, we likely are forgetting all of the of the technical, scientific or medical the advances which would have been impossible without the additive manufacturing process. Shapes that have had been previously impossible to manufacture, structures which were before too complex to mass produce with the 3D printing has made its way to be a part of our reality and in many fields to be used not in the future but to-day as well.

At the 3 days event visitors may see many awesome ideas placed into force and there is nothing strange in it, cause if just thinking of the invention of steel-bar  made fence in the 19th century was an unimaginable novelty and now-a-days  it does not trigger  anybody’s mind.

In the meantime here is one of the exhibitors, worthwhile to see and talk to the creators, Calin Brandabur and Mihai Soare who will be there to answer any of your questions and to present technical live demonstrationsTheir Symme3D is being showcased for the first time internationally here in  Budapest  at the 3D Printing Days.

In brief a little background of  the … “ Symme3D is the first multifunctional delta platform 100% designed, engineered and manufactured in Romania. With Symme3D a DIY maker, engineer, hardware startup or even established company can control the full life-cycle of a hardware product development from PCB milling, for the electronics, Stencil laser cutting to easily apply the solder paste on the PCB to 3D printing  cases / boxes or frames for the final product. Also coming later this year, the first fully automated, desktop sized, Pick And Place machine! The Symme3D will be available to purchase in Summer 2015. … “

Soon spicing up with more 3D exhibitors.

Budapest Airport 65th Anniversary.

budapest airport

To-day, May, 7.,  the Budapest Airport celebrates its 65th anniversary of its opening.

“Sixty-five years ago on this day, the new airport of the Hungarian capital commenced operation.

The historic event occurred on 7 May 1950, when a Li-2 passenger aircraft flew to Ferihegy from nearby Budaörs Airport. This marked the beginning of civil aviation at Budapest Airport. In the first year of its operation, the airport handled 7133 passengers. In 2014, this number exceeded 9 million.

The history of Ferenc Liszt International Airport, previously called Airport Ferihegy, stretches back even further than 1950. The area was zoned as a dual use, civil and military airport already in 1938,but the Second World War intervened. Although the construction of a unique, Bauhaus-style passenger terminal designed by architect Károly Dávid Jr. began, focus shifted to the hangars of the Hungarian Air Force and the Aviation Experimentation Institute; there was hardly any civilian traffic. The airport was bombed by the Allied forces several times in 1944, and it was only rebuilt by 1950 (according to the original designs). It welcomed the first Li-2 passenger aircraft (a Soviet version of the American Douglas DC-3 Dakota, built under license) on 7 May. At the time, the concrete runway at the airport was only 1500 meters long, which was gradually extended to accommodate jet aircraft. Runway I was completed, with its current length of 3000 meters, in 1958. By the 1970’s (1974, to be precise), the annual passenger number exceeded 1 million, and Terminal 1 was no longer able to handle the traffic. As a result, in 1977 the design and construction of a new control tower, a parallel runway II (3700 m) and a new technical base with aircraft repair hangars commenced. Terminal 2A, which today handles Schengen passengers, was completed in 1985. Due to the continuous traffic growth, further developments were necessary, and Terminal 2B was handed over in 1998.Significant organizational changes occurred in 2002, when air traffic control (HungaroControl) split from the previously all-encompassing state organization LRI (the Aeronautical and Airport Directorate), and Budapest Airport Zrt. as airport operating company was also established. Following successful privatization, Budapest Airport Zrt. operated under British management from January 2006, before an international consortium led by HOCHTIEF AirPort purchased 75% of its shares in June 2007. The Hungarian State retained the remaining 25 % +1 vote until the summer of 2011, when it decided to exercise its option right and sold the minority stake to the majority owners. During privatization, the new owners undertook to invest 261 million EUR (75 billion HUF) into development projects, which was fulfilled by 2012 and has been significantly exceeded since then, with the total value of developments currently in excess of 320 million EUR (approximately 110 billion HUF). In January 2013, with the acquisition of HOCHTIEF AirPort, Canadian company PSP Investments became the largest owner, and the company handling HOCHTIEF’s airport assets was renamed AviAlliance GmbH.

The biggest development project undertaken was the construction of the SkyCourt, a new passenger building linking Terminals 2A and 2B, for approximately 100 million EUR. Handed over in 2011, the elegant and high-quality SkyCourt (chief architect: Zoltán Tima– KÖZTI) provides an unforgettable architectural and travel experience, as well as a rich selection of shops and restaurants. The new terminal has made traveling through the airport simpler and more convenient, and has expanded throughput.

Budapest Airport suffered the greatest crisis in its history on 3 February 2012 with the grounding and eventual bankruptcy of the Hungarian national carrier Malév. Passenger traffic decreased by several hundred thousand that year as a result, transfer traffic was virtually eliminated, and the number of aircraft movements dropped to a level last seen in 2002. With the loss of the Hungarian flag carrier, Budapest Airport suffered severe financial damages, was forced to suspend a number of developments, including its Cargo City project, implemented a mass redundancy and closed the historic Terminal 1, in order to increase the efficiency of its operations. In spite of the crisis, the operator continued to invest into key developments and new services at the airport. Immediate and significant steps were taken to replace the lost routes and flights, as a result of which BUD managed to achieve an all-time passenger record in 2014.

Budapest Airport won the best airport in Eastern Europe award from British aviation analysts  Skytrax, both in 2014 and 2015. The Skytrax award is one of the most prestigious accolades an airport can receive. The developments are continuing in 2015 and over the coming years as well, at least to a value of 5 billion HUF annually.

History holds many ups-and-down but  the background figures speaks for itself … the traffic at the terminals were the grounds to 39 airlines, which transported 9.15 million passengers to 88 airports in 74 cities in 35 countries in 2014.”
