Every road leads to the City Hall Park when your in the middle of Downtown

District, V.,  Károly Blvd. Budapest

The interactive Xmas tree of the sculptor Gábor Miklós Szőke  on the the City Hall Park can be seen until the end of December. The Xmas tree of Gábor lights up with more pictures when many people stand on the podium.

Another attraction has been added to downtown Budapest last Sunday with the 10-meter-high Xmas statue namely: Telenor Hyperfa by statue  creator  Gábor Miklós Szőke. With his interactive work would like to draw attention to the true essence of the holidays, to co-existence. Ferenc Molnár inaugurated the installation with a Ferenc Molnár – (nickname: Caramel) mini concert at the fair.

The statue creator said  the thousands of slats of the Hyperfa is more than just a public sculpture. It is also an interactive installation that connects people with a community experience. When six people stand on the podium at the same time, the installation literally comes to life … music starts and is illuminated by a special light painting. It  lights up magic feeling for a moment and surely gathers visitors to the fair passing by during the rush hours, and for a short time reminds, of course not just int he Xmas time that being together is the most valuable part of the coming season.

The creator of Hyperfa –  Gábor Miklós Szőke, is widely known for his monumental public sculptures around the world. Already has left his landmarks with his sophisticated public sculptures in the USA and elsewhere. For the holidays, the artist has been creating eco-conscious little Xmas trees for the past 10 years, using the remnants of his wooden installations to donate most of them to charity. The Hyper Tree is not just a 10-meter magnified replica of these Xmas tree statues. It is an interactive public space creation that becomes even more communal during the holidays! “I wanted to bring people closer together. In the case of Hyperfa, “magic” can only be lured together, by the interaction of friends, family members. The tree changes its face in the dark thanks to the video installation on it, “said Miklós Szőke.

Caramel at the inauguration of the Hyperfa, surprised those who were present giving a mini concert. He come along with his wife, Szilvi, and daughter, Sofi. He said they are in charge  at home of the Xmas tree. He is pretty much surprised to see that at the end of November there is a decorated Xmas tree at home. The singer appreciates the time spent with his loved ones during the holidays and for the first time, he will not give a big concert in December as usually, so he can spend Xmas time with  his family.

The Telenor Hyperfa stands in City Hall Park and comes to life after dark between 4.30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Local or foreigners  is a must  spot to visit and can capture the experience. Also with alittle help at the hostesses, they can make a selfie and can then access at hyperfa.elenor.hu.

The Birth of Hungarian Whiskey & Premium Apricot & Plum Pálinka from Békési Manufactory

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Excepting the Veritas Wine Trading in Budapest call to join at the presentation and tasting learnt about the latest products of the Békés Distillery.  The main cast was on the latest pálinka and their brand new whiskey product.

The presentation started along with tasting the debuts of the Békési Premium Apricot Pálinka. The background goes …This year the Békés Distillery celebrates its 35th anniversary. They are one of the largest commercial breweries in Hungary. They have added new members to the premium product line for the anniversary … the Premium Apricot Pálinka and the Premium Plum Pálinka. The 35 years of expertise  is in each bottle since 1984. Békési was one of the first to get a pálinka license at the Csatárkert, and  throughout the years he learned all  what it takes in the profession. Success was not lost in the fog, because the tradion went on generation-by-generation in the pálinka brewing and to-day one of the largest managed distilleries and breweries in the country.

The Master Threesome – Békési Premium Palinka Family … Their most successful product is the Békési Premium Plum pálinka made from protected fruit, which comes from its 27 hectares of its own plum plantation and the fruit of the local inhabitants. “Our goal is clear, wish to meet everyone’s taste. Our intention is supplemented by qualitative competition in recent years has brought many exciting technological solutions, such guided by computer control after fermentation, the traditional two-stage and modern columnar technology are present in the brewery at the same time.  said Gábor Szűcs – Békési Ltd. Chairman Board of Directors , ”

The second member, the Békési Apricot Pálinka Debut. The anniversary of the expanded premium product line brought another new member. An exceptionally full-bodied and sweet-tasting fruit experience. In its scent, can find the citrusiness and freshness of ripeness, succulent apricots, and in its flavor give a hint to our grandmother’s apricot jam in the embrace of alcohol.

The third premium newest member from the Békési Distillery  – The Békési Single Barrel Whiskey in the line. It is the birth of the 1st. Hungarian Whiskey.  The Békési Single Barrel Whiskey, has been aged for twelve years. According to Sándor Békési – commercial manager, the idea as a whiskey consumer is not that strange, as the equipment is just as suitable for cooking grain distillates. It was only for the whiskey-like maturation that the oak barrels, which had been prepared by the casades, were lightly roasted. After 12 years of maturation, the Békési Single Barrel is bottled per barrel, with having the barrel serial number on the label, so it’s no surprise that you taste it side-by-side and some items, differences in color, fragrance and taste can be discovered. In the recent years, two more attempts have been made at the Békés Manufactory in aging cellar, one in Tokaj aszú and the other in barrique barrels, previously used for aging by a renowned Irish whiskey factory.

As a national distributor, the Veritas Wine Shop in Budapest is the exclusive distributor of Békés Pálinka. Its goal is no less than to raise the profile and reputation of Hungarian brandy through its premium products both in the domestic and international markets.

Varga Winery wants to “kick the door” with fruity champagne … for the coming  New Year!

The consumption patterns are changing at the Varga Winery in Badacsonyörs, which sells 14 million bottles of wine annually in Hungary, now produces not only wines but also premium sparkling wines. The result of years of experience and experimentation is the Fresh Golden Plate Extra Dry fruity sparkling family, which is one of the most popular varieties of recent years, Irsai Oliver and the popular Pinot Noir rose, as well as a blend, called cuvée. With its fruity sparkling wine, the winery wants to start new consumption habits following the trend of fresh fruit that has been proven for wines.

In contrast to wine consumption, champagne is still seasonal and is mainly associated with the end of the year. In Hungary, about 20 million bottles of champagne are consumed annually for approx. half are for the last two months of the year.

Varga Winery has launched its Fresh Golden Cut with its fruity sparkling product line for the season holiday, all three of which are extra dry.  As they say … this is the time when trade is welcoming new sparkling wines. Basilica Advent Feast – Ecumenical Aid Organization – Saint Steven Square @ Budapest

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The Advent Basilica has become a major tourist attraction in Budapest over the years!

This is the 9th occasion to have the Advent Feast in front of the Basilica on the Saint István Square and will in the coming days will host a series of events. Within the series of event last Sunday, children of needy arrived from Kaposvár and began their afternoon collecting experience with the support of the Ecumenical Aid Organization. First they could have their lunch served at the hut. Thereafter, were divided into four groups, visiting four venues at the Xmas Advent Fair.  The children skated on the ice rink set up on the square and meet well-known people. Daniel Gyurta – Olympic, three-time world and two-time European champion Hungarian swimmer was one of the most wanted person to meet personally. He told … it is wonderful to see as the kids explore the venue and from the corner of their sparking eyes they enjoy the hustle and bustle that goes around on the ground at the Xmas Advent gathering.

Another guest, Kisztina Rátonyi – public media presenter, also skated with children on an ice rink set up on the square. It was good to see as they avoided tumbling, then their sense of success.

The Director of Communications of the Ecumenical Relief Society, Kristóf Gáncs told that their presence is not just a one-time occasion. The impact of these adventure programs goes far beyond one day at Xmas. For the kids it is a great experience and they most probably will not forget what it was like to be at the Capital. The experience remains especially for those kids who had visited for the first time Budapest.

During the Advent event anyone can make a donation to the Ecumenical Aid Organization. In return will receive the chosen gingerbread baked on the spot and brought at the organization’s donation shop. The organization can also be supported on the local 1353 donation line. With a call or SMS can contribute 250HUF to the Advent collection.

The Relief Society’s slogan reflects … “FOOD” for the hungry, “HOME” for the homeless, “OPPORTUNITY” chance for the poor!’

Last but not least … Maybe needless to say at the Xmas Advent Feast, everyone has to watch at least once the 3D-animated movie projected on the Basilica building. It only takes a few minutes of screenings along with music, start every 1/2 an hour, telling a different story connected to the Advent time.

For locals and tourist rolling by … can’t be hungry on the spot … noway to be because can make up for the hunger feeling that the eye catch on the spot. Real Hungarian food, strudel cake, chimney cake, wine, pálinka, champagne, soft drinks and of course the spicy mulled wine in the season’s chilly weather will do it right.

 The 3rd. “BorMedence” (WineValleys) @ Budapest – 2019

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This year the  „BorMedence” – (WineValley) held again for the third occasion largest Carpathian tasting gathering –  Festetics Palace – Budapest.

According to the tradition wine village, wine region from the mainland and across the neighboring border of the Carpathian Basin were invited to this year gathering.  The day reflected not only in the selection of wines, but also in music and gastronomy. The event was organized to promote Hungarian wine culture and  thereon from the Carpathian Basin. In 2019 honorary guests wine makers came from across the border:  the Garam mente (Highlands) and Belhon -Somló Hill (Balaton Wine Region).

This year proven by the numbers: 50 exhibitors, 14 historic region, 150 wines to please the wine lover audience. There were as well two master classes: focus on grape and wine varieties of the Carpathian Basin and Central Europe (Monarchy wines, Tokaj, Highland and Somló specialties).

To list all 50 winemakers would be as a small novel, so only a few are mentioned … So … whether you are new wine traveler or a discriminating wine aficionado, there are several wine regions in Hungary and  across the boarder worth visiting that were to explore at the “BorMedence” – (WineValley)  tasting.

On the press blvd, several winemakers were featured, learned about their culture rolling on the wine tour which absolutely was great way to hear about their history not only for the locals but for so many foreigners being on the spot.

The Mátra wine region located about 80 kilometers from Budapest. An unusually high concentration of volcanic mountain ranges in the northern part of the country produce wonderfully mineral-rich wines of the Mátra region. Mátra is Hungary’s second largest wine region. Wine growing and viniculture in the Mátra region was established prior to the arrival of the Magyars in the Carpathian Basin and the first written accounts referring to wine making date back to the 11th century. Their grape varieties are: Olaszrizling (Italian Riesling) which is the most common type of vine planted in the region. The varieties include Chardonnay, Rizlingszilváni, Leányka, Muscat Ottonel, Tramini and Sauvignon Blanc. The Mátra Mountains with their moderate climate and protected areas provide perfect growing conditions for the local vineyards. The Mátra region’s soil is varied, lacking lime, pannonian clay rich in nutrients, volcanic andesite, andesite tufa and liparite tufa. After great deforestations, the soil became some places chernozem. The lecture was bit longer than expected, but worthwhile in discovering the  wines. The Dominium Winery introduced a grate selection of the products and tasting each bottled wine from different years gave different experience and different after taste. Their late-harvesting wine was amazing, simply mouthwatering.

To relax and enjoy the taste of the King of Wines  from Tarcal – HungaryTokajicum Sárgamuskotály 2018.  was no surprise for those who have had  tasted the wines from Tokaj.  The aroma is dominated by the muscatel character, complemented by lime and grapefruit. With its flattering scent and pleasant residual sugar content, it is a real treat for sweet wine lovers. It is recommended to consume at 9 ° C. Hand harvested. Alcohol content: 11.5% .The 20-hectare vineyard is located in an unrivaled location. Its panorama is smooth as the wines and fantastic view of the southern tip of the Bald Mountain. According to archival sources, the estate still surrounded by vineyards used to be the property of Count Andrássy. All of their vineyards are located in first-class, famous historic vineyards.

In addition to the well-known wineries in Hungary and abroad, also invited some lesser-known but also excellent winemakers from non-Hungarian winemakers from around the Carpathian Basin. Main purpose to introduce the boundless wine culture of the Carpathian Basin and its various regions.

The wine making began for myself in 2006 under the care of his father’s estate vineyard. The aim was to make wine in the Kali Basin side of the mountains, which offer an unforgettable experience for the consumer. The geologic history formed the Balaton Uplands into a spectual landscape worth to step on its soil. It risen from the ancient Pannonian Sea. The soil  forming on top of volcanic mountains. The Mediterrenean subclimate made this land an inspirational place for many generation throughout the history, so was told by Gyula Szabó mine maker from Köveskál.

The Simonfay Wine Mansion was founded in 2004 by Dr. Géza Simonfay at Tarcal and have been developing and expanding since then. The Simonfay wines are of high quality, the grape’s nutrient medium is given by the Tokaji declivity’s the Barackos vineyard. The first Hárslevelű (Hungarian grape variety from Pontian Balcanica branch of Vitis vinifera) bottled wine was produced in 2006. Furmint grapes and wine made from dry one specific privilege for a long time which was only a “by-product” of Tokaj. Solely white wine is produced in this region. However the emphasis is no longer put on the production of dessert wine but also on the production of dry wine. Still to-day the most famous and worldwide known unique wine from Tokaj is the Tokaj Aszú (Ausbruchwein) an Austrian wine term literary meaning … break-out wine!  Nevertheless the white wines of Tokaji are sweet, semi-sweet flavor that appears dominantly, although the excellent properties of Simonfay wines include the dry Furmint as well.

IstvánPince – Ipolyság – Kálvária winery – Slovakia. Quality wines on the desk for tasting hit one of the top by many tasters. There were more than ten wines in the “battle of tasting”, Sárgamuskotály, Pészeki Leányka, Király Leányka and last but not least have to highlight the “Zenit semi-sweet 2018 amazing wine in every sence. Very body wines with fresh tastes. Beside visiting their winery may also host up to 90-100 guests at the same time with 30 accommodations. Naturally have to make reservation in advance. István winery is on the top of the Kálvária Hill at Ipolyság. Several of his wines have already won medals in various competitions. Bottling and labeling of bottles takes place in the cellars inherited from his grandfather. Since there are seven István names among his ancestors, the choice of name is taxed before their honor. They hold advance bookings in wine tasting from their own wines with and specially select wines within the wine dinners. István Cellar and Pension is an ideal choice for many types of events. There is also a wine bar in the building and the tired traveler can have a peaceful dream in the tastefully furnished rooms told by István.
