In less than 24 hours the László Papp Budapest Sport Arena  will be formed into an indoor tennis court to enchants its audience!

Heard  this evening at the press meeting from Balázs Taróczy – main organizer, that the double Roland Garros winner, the Spanish Sergi Bruguera … who actually was here in Budapest at the 1st Tennis Classics Gala in 2008 … UNFORTUNETELY …  was injured last week, so he cannot make it to the tournament of this year to Budapest. Therefore, was a pleasure to invite and excepted the invitation  to come from the UK, the Australian tennis legend – Pat Cash. For many in the arena  will be a superb evening to watch the beauty of tennis, playing with the Wimbledon champion the Croatian Goran Ivanisevic.
The world ranking ninth Gasquet also looking back to the whole year of 2015, feels good. Said, to be in the top ten was his goal, which played a major role as reaching it at the Wimbledon semi-final.

Yesterday, the tournament winner  in Taiwan, the Hungarian Timea Babos arrived back to Hungary, after  thirty-six hours spending in-and-out on flights.. One of her flight was canceled, got stuck in the airport, but as she said, she  is tired but happily looking forward in playing with the French Kristina Mladenovic on  Tuesday at the 8th Tennis Classics Gala. Overall she very happy to have finished the season with tournament victories.

The triumphant Goran Ivanisevic in 2001, talked about he probably will remain forever the only one who was starting a wild card at Wimbledon champions.  Čilić is Ivanisevic student who said he is satisfied with this season results. Although he was injured at the beginning of the year, overall, had  successful tournaments. At the US Open semi-finals he proved that it was not a coincidence his last year’s championship.

Look … See … Enjoy … Legends at the press meeting …

Advent Feast – St Stephen’s Cathedral – Budapest – 2015

Bazilika-Adventi-Vasar- previous year's snap

Tradition and street food … same place … same time!

  November, 27 until  January, 2. 2016.

The Advent fair on the premises of the Saint Stephen’s Square,  just in front of the Cathedral , the magical fair arrives to enjoy by locals and foreigners the season’s holiday.

From the last weekend of November visitors may enter this joyful world decorated with Christmas lights. Here the festive ambience of the 5-week long Christmas preparation is ensured by almost 200 programmes, the handicrafts of 80 vendors and the international food and drink selection of the street food section in Zrínyi Street. Every night visitors might admire the 3D light paintings on the monumental façade of the Cathedral, while children can enjoy the huge ice rink around the 9-meter tall Christmas tree or they can bake honey-cake hearts, and everybody can dance together at the folk dance evenings. Following the traditions, on 1st of January Lentil Day is going to be held, when the fortune-making New Year’s dish – prepared by different recipes – will be available at the gastronomic exhibitors and street food vendors.

The square in front of Saint Stephen’s Cathedral – which is one of Hungary’s most important churches and tourist attractions – is going to be the most spectacular and eventful meeting point in Budapest from November, 27 to  January, 2. 2016. Last year Saint Stephen’s Basilica got into the CNN’s Top 10 list of the most photographed places in the world, and hopefully the visitors’ stunning photos will flood again This year the Advent Feast at the Cathedral is welcoming its visitors with the largest and the most spectacular visual attraction of the country. Colourful short movies will come to life in 3D on the 1000  m2 façade of the Cathedral, while the festive lights of the square and the Inner City will provide a magical setting for a winter walk. During the 35 days of the Advent fair families and groups of friends will find a great variety of programmes, exclusive events and charity functions.

The 200 m2 ice rink around the magically decorated Christmas tree will remain the centre of the fair for the greatest joy of the children who can use it free of charge or even participate in the skating courses at the weekends. In the “Hunger for Love” bakery, set up by the Hungarian Inter-Church Aid,volunteers and visitors will prepare honey-cake hearts together with special surprise guests supporting the charity to thank its donors for their generosity.

At the fabulous wooden houses in front of the Cathedral the fair’s visitors may choose between countless carefully pre-selected, great quality handcrafted gifts and the design items of talented young artists. This year the craftsmenʼs stalls will occupy a larger area including the way connecting Bajcsy-Zsilinszky and Hercegprímás Streets next to the Cathedral, to offer even more products than in the previous years. Amazed by the abundance of gifts visitors may taste the holiday season’s most popular dishes along with this year’s novelties. While having fun outdoors in the cold winter weather, they can the steaming hot dishes with selected hot cocktails.

The Advent Feast at the Cathedral  is getting an exciting new addition this year. Street food, which was a successful debut last year, will take over the whole Zrinyi Street this year, and fill it with exotic food, Advent delicacies and the flavours of international cuisine. From Sas Street to Széchenyi Street the coolest Hungarian food trucks and street food vendors will be present such as Zing Burger, KolBice, BudDog, Paneer, MexKitchen, Balkán Grill, Befaló Bill, DiVino and Korhely. More than 30 exhibitors will provide food meant to be eaten on the street such as pancake, grilled sandwich, soup, “new wave” flat bread, lángos, pljeskavica, Italian sweets and salty titbits – to seduce the workers of the surrounding office buildings from the boring daily menus and to treat those who will come here to check out the greatest street food extravaganza of the holiday season. Following the New Year’s traditions Lentil Day will close the series of the fair’s gastronomic events on 1st of January.

LIDL – health screening test program – Hungary

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Hello Health  program by the LIDL … the well known German food chain in Europe.

Visited the Lidl’s press meeting, which was on the topic of health. The health screening program was introduced by Pál Győrfi – ambulance service spokesman. The riport on  features of the mobile vehicle was held by Csaba Kassai – economic – managing director of Lidl Hungary. During the presentations, heard detailed statistics background of the Hungarian population caring about their health, which showed a picture how low is the number of folks who for sack not to go regularly having screening their own health. The excuses always have had many backgrounds … lack of time, long waiting list for screenings and the length of time before receiving the results from the health care institutions. BUT the reason might be who wants to know what tomorrow may bring. The Hello Health program, by the Lidl thinks it differently and is unique by itself in Hungary as we were introduced to see the modernly equipped mobile health screening in all respects, having  premises like the dentist, ultrasound, 12-lead electrocardiogram – (EC)G, blood test, healthy eating, healthy body image, dentist, ultrasound, annual screening, healthy body image. By this mobile health assessment, will be able to screen their employees across all the Lidl stores in the country. Within these facilities will help the company’s employees to obtain a clearer picture, condition of their health. Not to mention for both sides saving the loss of working time it all comes at the „doorstep” of the employees. The Hello Health mobile screening vehicle has already screen 200 employees at the Lidl’s parking area and within a short time to the examinations the folks received the analysed test results printed on the spot. Lidl health screening test program is one of the most comprehensive corporate program to preserve the health of the workers. Wouldn’t it be nice, if more-and-more Hungarian and foreigners companies recognize the importance of this kind of health care to their workers. If you do not have the opportunity to participate in the work support field then keep in mind, pay attention to your own health.

You’re not the only one who has fears to have screening tests. It is easier to prevent than just to carry your mind, attention away from the subject.

Many people are afraid to go to the doctor and freak out of hearing something they  perhaps do not want to face the bad results. Therefore they decide better skip to make any appointments. In principle, everyone should at least once a year take part in similar programs, but unfortunately this is by no means manage to everyone.

The „Csardáskirálynő” – Czardas Queen operetta celebrating its 100 hundred anniversary.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The „Csardáskirálynő” – Czardas Queen operetta was composed by Imre Kálmán.

Exhibition and Gala night at the Operetta and Musical Theater – Budapest.

The „Csárdáskirálynő” – Czardas Queen is once again back home after its long journey to charm the Hungarian and foreigner audiences.

To the grand event arrived to celebrate with  the troupe Yvonne Kálmán, the composer’s daughter, the composer’s son, Charles Kálmán, his widow and his son, Charles Kálmán Jr. In addition to the current  performance, former legendary participants, director and foreign guests.also attended the Gala show. Zoltán Balog – Minister of Human Resources opened the „Csárdáskirálynő” – Czardas Queen  past 100 years operetta exhibition

The melodies of the Czardas Queen for the first time on November,17. 1915 rang in Vienna, at the Johann Strauss Theater. At the time being nobody would have had suspected that this is the beginning to a successful story that continues up to this day.  No surprise that at the original venue in Vienna the audience saw the show 533 occasion since after the 1915’s premiere. The piece was staged despite the WWI  also in Sweden, Finland, Poland, Russia and Italy. Probably not on my own by saying, that the melodies of Imre Kálmán’s, (born 125 years ago) right this minute is somewhere  around the world played either on stage, on television, on the radio, at a concert hall or within a gala show.

To Budapest it finally made its way a year later in November at the Broadway Theater.  Kálmán’s music was praised by the local librettist – P. G. Wodehouse saying:“The Kálmán score was not only the best that the gifted Hungarian ever wrote but about the best anybody ever wrote…”

The Czardas Queen musical operetta already toured all around the world and the audiences just alike in Budapest gave standing ovations, in Tokyo, Rome, Munich and in Amsterdam had pleasure to see the original play as it is on show at the Budapest Operetta and Musical Theater. While in Salzburg and Prague was a co-production, directed by KERO® with the local stars on stage.

The Czardas Queen story in a nutshell: The story is about a hopeless love of the Duke Edwin to Sylvia, a star from the Budapest Orpheum. The family disapproves of the lowly relationship. The parents everything in their power to lure their son back to Vienna, where the have already chosen an appropriate girl for him, the Countess Stazi to help haste matters by buying a New York contract for the chanson singer Sylvia Vereczky. However, the dear foolish Count Bóni conspires to help the lovers, as does also the waiter, Miska and his twin brother Alfons … the butler at the house of Lippert-Weilersheim … and Uncle Feri, Bóni’s friend from the Orpheum. He is the main weaver of threads and is even ready to disclose the love of his youth, and Edwin’s mother hoping to succeed.

Unfortunately, cannot update about the evening’s performance, cause the tickets were all sold out.

Also continued by saying: Q.: „Naturally, the wines should not be forgotten produced in the States… The California wines have deep roots connected to Hungary!
