Upon invitation headed during the Fall to Lake Balaton’s walking wine tasting in Balatonalmádi. The event was opened by Zsófia Bozzai, the editor-in-chief of Bor és Piac (Wine and Market), where she greeted the pretty high number of the wine-loving audience and invited them to go for tasting all the six wine regions on the spot. Arrived 25 Balaton wineries – producers from Badacsonyi, Nagy-Somlói, Zala, Balatonboglári, Balaton-felvidéki and Balatonfüred-Csopak Wine Regions. She drew attention to the wine makers to fill free ask questions and listen to professional presentations. Then after Tamás Tornai – the owner of the Tornai Winery, greeted the gathering and wish the wine tasters to enjoy every drop of the wineries wine and keep in mind the one that suited the favorit taste and in the future prehaps will plan to visit one or more wineries.
After the opening, with the performance of violinist Julia Rabovay the wine tasting event started with four Telemann pieces and Monti’s Csárdás. The target audience included not only lovers of the local Balaton wines, but also a large number of visitors from Budapest, as well as guests from Slovakia and even Croatia arrived and good number of professionals came to the event.
It is no secret that the aim of the event was to extend the tourist season, so the title of the event already reflects this: “Also Balaton in the Fall”.

At the walking wine tasting, the guests could not only learn about winery, but hear  from the producers comments about the effects of climate change which effected the choice of varieties and in use of yeast … how the initial sugar content of the must is adjusted so that the alcohol level is lower. Rethinking the use of high sugar-accumulating varieties, e.g. Gray friendly, also about the new trends, and we could taste, for example, natural wines and orange wines.

A short description the region’s new winemaker Tagyon 730 wine factory, which is located above Zánka at the foot of Tagyony, Szentantalfai hill. This winemaker is a new comer with his wines from the northern region of Lake Balaton. His winnery exists on 3000 m2 since 2016. His plantation has Cab. Franc (simply loved it amazing taste), Cab.Savignon and Merlot. Brought bottles of 5 types, each named by his 5 children. After harvest, closed tank fermentation is done with circular circulation. The locals told him that this event would take place, they had not yet prepared the labels for the wines, so they were numbered with the children’s names on the tasting table without labels. Produce Olaszrizling, Kéknyelű, Furmint, Szürkebarát which were waiting to be tasted.

Another one wish to mention … Most probably needn’t have to introduce the already famous winemaker of the Istvándy Winery-Badacsony. At the wine tasting table had a glance on a bottle of wine not seen label earlier, called “Bizsergés” –  “Tingling”. It was produced from ottonel muscat/yellow muscat 2020 – AL12%. Indeed a bit surprised me of the bustling bubbles and smoky flavor and right away could imagine it goes well after a hard meal.
Last but not least … go for a wine therapy … worth to visit the Tornai Winery. At the event the “A Tornai Top Selection Grófi Hárslevelű 2019” hit the top for the wine lovers.

The theme at the master classes were wine tourism, sustainability, resistant grape varieties, and organic farming.

It was fantastic to experience at the Három Majom Bistro (Three Monkies Bistro) in tasting the delicacies of Lebanese cuisine in Balatonalmádi. The place was just at the doorstep “Balaton in the Fall” event.

The implementation of the project is supported by the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture program.

Heard it through the grapevine … Extraordinary Italian Taste from Trattoria Toscana for the Week of Italian cuisine in the world, will be prepared the specials of the Roman cuisine! The Roman gastronomy is woven through thousands of years of traditions, from the pastoral traditions of the surrounding countryside to the Roman Jewish community. The festival will give special attention to the Roman kitchen, noting Rome’s candidacy to host the 2030 World Expo. Master Confectioner Angelo Gala will give a workshop on Thursday and Friday. Cooking shows, master classes, film screenings (art screening documentary) Florence, Central Market, Italian Design Day 2022 and a bunch of other programs will be offered at the Italian gastronomy festival in Budapest between November, 14 to 20. 2022.

Magical Xmas Tale @ the Capital Circus of Budapest 2022

Circus Xmas Show is based on a tale of the great Hungarian writer Mór Jókai’s (1825-1904)  

The show title goes on as  … “Which One Of The Nine?” ( “Melyiket A Kilenc Közül?” )

Within the show featuring the Circus and Theater Arts with music, singing and dancing all together in joyous harmony. “Which One of the Nine?” tells a story of seduction and decency, the happiness that can be acquired through humility and diligence, and the convergence that conquers all despite enormous setbacks.  The audience will be heading into the magical world where the most important values come to life through the art of circus and entertainment. It tells that our inner values are worth more than money, power and a deal with the devil under any circumstances.

Synopsis … Once upon a time in the big city of Pest there was a poor man who raised his nine children alone. All of them were talented and clever but they were merely children. The poor man took all the jobs he could in order to provide them with a beautiful and carefree childhood, and so that he could dress them, school them and raise them to be nice and good people.

Then around came a wealthy man who wanted to make a deal with the poor man: if he gave away one of his children, he would pamper the child, provide expensive clothes and even more expensive toys, foreign studies, cool sports cars and the thousands of treasures found on Earth. The poor man had no other option but to choose one of his beloved nine children that the wealthy man would take forever.

The original story even more universal by not only moving into the spectacular milieu of the circus, summon protective angels and machinating devils as well, the cosmic battle takes place for the soul of a man and his children. What is worth more: honor or a sack filled with gold? Fairness with a troubled fate or giving up for an easy deal? Inner values or glittery sparkles? Family or career?

The circus show is directed by Peter Fekete winner of the Jászai Mari Award and with costumes from famous designer Erzsébet Rátkai.

In less than 6 weeks the Xmas Show at the Capital Circus of Budapest is forthcoming for the whole family and also circus lovers who should like to have a break from the rushy hustle-bustle everyday life and may get into the Xmas mood in advance. St. Martin Day Goose Festival with Huge Breasts and Hot Thighs 2022.

Saint Martin’s Day marks the end of the economic year on the farms and the beginning of the period of the Fall to come, which is associated with many folk customs and beliefs throughout Hungary.

This year, the 20th St. Martin’s New Wine Festival will take place in the Skanzen, complete with festive program elements such as: folk customs and beliefs, goose feast, wine tasting and wine making programs, lantern parade, handicrafts, including children’s concerts, puppet theaters, performances by dance groups and other concerts from November, 12 – 13. 2022. Venue: Address:  75. Sztaravodai Rd. – Szentendre.

The importance of the new wine and the goose feast must be emphasized, because without them there is no St. Martin’s Day entertainment.

In keeping with tradition, guests are greeted at the gates of the River Danube Bend with mouth-watering snacks and the taste of new wine again this year. Goose dishes include various roast geese, roasted chestnuts, pumpkin, and baked apples.

On Screen from Delacroix to Gauguin Documentary

From November in Hungary at the art movie theaters will be screened within the series of exhibition “From Delacroix to Gauguin” by Danish art collector.

Given the nature of the subject matter and its delivery, The Danish Collector will not be to everyone’s taste. However, for those with a raging thirst for Impressionism and/or without the means to fly to England, France or Denmark, this film is the next best thing.
It’s strange to think of Impressionists, such as Monet and Renoir, being vilified. It almost feels like a cliché, but it was the case for part of the 1800s. Then men like Hansen came along and a whole new generation of collectors was born. Somewhat dry in its presentation of Hansen’s life and influence, the real stars of the documentary are of course, the artworks themselves can be seen both Hansen’s summer home, which has almost been turned into a museum in the suburbs of Copenhagen, Ordrupgaard and its garden.  The audience may drop by places to see the best of 19th century French impressionist works and also at the London’s Royal Academy. The Danish Collector offers up a closer than close look at art by the likes of Gauguin and Delacroix.

The Danish collection is a repository of the finest impressionist works ever painted. The path leads from the romantic paintings of Delacroix, the realistic paintings of Corot and Courbet to the impressionist landscapes of Monet, Pissarro, Cézanne and Sisley, and even the impressionist portraits of Degas, Manet, Morisot and Gonzalès in his collection.

Part 3. Autumn Festivals of Museums in Hungary – 2022.

Part 3. Late afternoon continuing the our press tour, took a visit to the German Nationality Museum at Tata. The museum was  founded in 1972. The German population in Hungary is estimated at almost a quarter of a million, which is the most important ethnic group in our country. Its task and goal is to collect and present its intellectual culture nationwide. The exhibition was opened for the first time in 1973. In 1983, after becoming independent, it moved to the renovated Nepomuccenus Mill, which once operated as a water mill. The former water mill was built in 1758 based on the plans of Jakab Fellner, and was named Saint John of Nepomuk, after the patron saint of millers and those who travel by water. The facade of the building is decorated with a sculpture carved from wood. At the 500 m2 exhibition in the main building objects can be seen which are  regularly in use by domestic and foreign researchers as well as university students studying the subject. One of the museum’s main programs is the “Guest in the Museum” event. Each year, one county with national traditions presents themselves by a temporary exhibition. The museum plays an important role with young people who represent national traditions, so they can be the bridge between the generations. They can learn about the knowledge of the elders according to their own interests. However, the aim of the museum is also to open up space for the local and neighboring ethnic kindergartens and school children.  There is also introducing  the life of the museum with guided tours and gastronomic programs. The museum’s collections include products from the end of the 19th century, but most objects from the 20th century were brought to the museum by  the locals of Hungary. The majority of the collection are ethnographic objects, which here show material culture of the Germans living in today’s Hungary organized with the support of the Ethnographic Museum.

Almost ending day on our press tour, the press conference took place at the German Nationality Museum in Tata, whereas Ms. Zsófia Jakab – Deputy General Manager of marketing and communications of the Hungarian Tourist Agency, highlighted in connection with the event. “Q”: “Cultural tourism is a particularly important element among the tourism products of our country. For this purpose, 4.5 million guests arrive every year, who spend 13 million guest nights in Hungary. From the tourism point of view …  it is important to mention that those interested in the Hungarian culture is extremely important that we primarily provide high-quality hospitality within our services.”

Ms. Magdolna Nagy – Director Organizer Szabadtéri  (Open-Air) Ethnography Museum – Center for Museum Education and Methodology, spoken about the organizational background of the Autumn Festival of Museums, the antecedents of the concept created in 2022.  The museums organize programs related to culture, environmental protection, social and mental sustainability. She added, the rich programs awaiting visitors to lead their footsteps to these historical amazing sights. She mentioned, as in every year, the institutions can connect their events to given themes. In addition to the four topics retained from previous years, four other new topics adapted to the concept of the year as to provide in the opportunities. The number of museums participating in the series of events exceeded 120, and in addition to nearly 40 in the capital, almost 80 rural museums organize programs. Until November, 13.,  cca. 1000 events of more than 500 types of events is to attract visitors to the museum.

SPAR Marathon® Hungary’s largest recreational sports event is running your way!

At the SPAR Budapest Marathon® press conference were present Budapest’s Deputy Mayor Dr Anett Bősz responsible for human areas – marathon runner – spoke about her own experiences, saying that the marathon does not begin with the start, nor does it end at the finish line. The person who crosses the finish line is not the same person who warmed up in the starting zone in the morning. Running a marathon is a way of life, when we experience that we ourselves are our own chance and opportunity.

Árpád Kocsis – executive competition director – Budapest Sports Office (BSI) said: “Q” : “The running fever is rising higher-and-higher in getting closer to the forthcoming SPAR Marathon® Hungary! Entries are pouring in from all corners of the country. Almost eighteen thousand Hungarians from 800 domestic settlements and more than two thousand foreign runners from 83 countries are to be enjoying their enter to Budapest’s world heritage panorama on October, 8-9.” Also added „Q”: “The event is held each year over a weekend in the season of Fall. The „Marathon” begins with several shorter races for runners of all ages and abilities. Expecting more than 30000 individuals to put on their running shoes to start at one of the distances, “e.g”. 600-meter family run, and 5, 10, 30 kms. and/or the marathon relay, up to the classic marathon distance.

Almost everything is the same as what was interrupted two-an-half years ago, participants can get ready for a frenetic atmosphere having Music Marathon, Professional championships, Diplomat Cup, Charities participants, Exhibitors. There is great interest as was in the previous years by the actors to Run for the Theater competition, which is unique in Europe and announced as part of the Tolle Marathon Relay, and a list of other runners including the members of the Hungarian State Opera House, Comedy Theater, the Playhouse Theater, the Örkény Theater, the National Dance Theater, the Városmajor Outdoor Theater, the Pesti Hungarian Theater, the Jurányi Community Incubator House, the Újszínház, and the Ördögkatlan.

Máriusz Révész – State Secretary responsible for Active Hungary, emphasized: „Q”: “The Eurobarometer research was published recently, in which it was found that 71% of people in Hungary do not exercise at all or just very rarely. This figure puts us far behind the EU average. Because of our health and mental state, we definitely have to change this percentage! A well-organized event change the minds of people in having enormous power to start a heathier sporty life and many people start running, swimming, and/or cycling because they realize how good they feel after their activity.”

One of the special features of Saturday, October 8. is the jubilant 10th FODISZ Equality Run. László Szabó president of the National Association of Students, Competitions and Leisure Sports of the Disabled said the following: ”Q”: “The event invites young people living with disabilities, people with limited mobility, and those who want to express their solidarity to run a symbolic 500-meter distance. The aim of the program is to enable those children with disabilities to experience the joy and excitement of racing, for whom active sports are not necessarily part of everyday life. We also specifically welcome participants who want to express their sympathy to their fellow human beings with special needs. This also promotes social integration in the field of Hungarian sports. In light of this, outstanding athletes and para-athletes will also visit the movement, who will run together with the applicants. The race creates an excellent opportunity for community building and networking.”

The 37th SPAR Budapest Marathon® starts on Saturday morning October, 8. at 9 a.m. from the Pázmány Péter promenade. The 42,195-meter distance can be completed individually, in pairs, and/or in a four-person relay within the framework of the Tolle Marathon Relay. This year’s novelty, the SPAR 14 kms, also starts with this field. In addition to this large field, the participants of the Regnum 30 kilometer run will also join.

The organizer of the Budapest Sportiroda (Sport Office Budapest) members will be on the spot to support the runners with more than 80,000 liters of water, 32,000 liters of Gatorade, 1000 liters of Pepsi Cola, 280 kilograms of grape sugar and 13000 bananas. Around 1200 organizers and directors work on the safe conduct of the event during the two days.

Márk Maczelka – Head of Communications SPAR Hungary said:„Q”: “Since 2008, our company has been the title sponsor and main supporter of the SPAR Budapest Marathon® Festival. It is one of the largest recreational sports events in Hungary and Europe, which is also the featured running race of the year and a social event at the same time. Its primary goal is to make as many people as possible fall in love with running and to draw attention to the importance of a health-conscious, sporty lifestyle. We provide free entry for our own community and colleagues, thereby motivating them to participate and exercise regularly. The health-conscious lifestyle – to which we are committed not only with our products, but also with our social responsibility activities – is also promoted at this event.” He added „Q”: The course is a mix of gravel and pavement to ease the knees with some rolling hills to keep the legs awake on the entire route. The SPAR Marathon course opens the eyes especially to the foreigners participating in the run and will guarantee to make them fall in love with all its beauty of Budapest as racing to cross the finish line.”

Charity activities are traditionally associated with the two-day running festival. Thanks to the event’s 9 charitable partner organizations and the approximately 800 fund-collecting or donating participants, the “charity yield” of the two days can reach 10 million HUF.

At the end of the press conference, a one million HUF grant was symbolically handed over. The “Aktív Magyarországért” (Active for Hungary) award, established in 2021. It was one of the first to receive the Budapest Sport Office last November in recognition of its decades of activity in the field of promoting an active lifestyle. The two executives decided not to keep the one million HUF associated with the award, but to be in use to support the work of the “Sarolta Monspart Healthy Lifestyle Foundation”, which takes care of the spiritual and material legacy of Sarolta Monspart, who died last year. Botond Feledy, son of Sarolta Monspart and Péter Feledy, received the plaque representing this support from István Máth, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, and also managing director of BSI.

The Marathon runners can enjoy the world heritage panorama of Hungary’s capital during running along designated sites. The competitors rolling over the River Danube bridges, three of which glinting the sights of Budapest and also enjoying their en route through Margitsziget (Margaret Island). Along the marathon route, 36 musical stations add strength to continue the runners passing by. Expecting a large number of audience en route to vision the runners and to cheer them on their way. Not only foreigners but local may relax after the run and rest their bodies, legs in the thermal pools at the unique 16th and 17th century Turkish baths or at the popular neo-baroque Széchenyi bath.

The first words heard in the movie … “After Jesus Christ, Napoleon is the most famous man in history. To mark the 200th anniversary of Napoleon’s death (in 2021)… this documentary explores the complex relationship between Napoleon, culture and art. It is about the language he used to build a new imperial iconography and a new architectural style, in a reconstruction that will also allow us to reflect on the relationship between power and image meditated by art, as well as look at the regimes of the twentieth century and the world today.”

A unique tour takes the audience from Brera Academy – Milan to the Louvre – Paris with guidance of the most renowned art historian expert and Academy Award winning actor Jeremy Irons, holding a torch to lead the audience all the way through the journey and expressing his respectful admiration for Napoleon.

As said above … last year was the 200th anniversary of Napoleon’s death, a documentary made on that occasion that tries to explore the famous statesman’s very complicated relationship with culture, especially with fine arts.
From what building elements did he create the iconography of the new imperial power … with what architectural style did he perceive the arrival of the new age? This historical and cultural documentary seeks authentic answers to the question of what kind of relationship there is between political power and its desired image displayed by means of visual arts, not only in Napoleon, but also in the 20th century. during the totalitarian systems of the 20th century, and even in our time!

For the first time in two hundred years, the Te Deum composed for Napoleon’s coronation as emperor will be heard again, as its sheet music has recently been unearthed from the State Archives in Milan.

The premiere screening will be led by Gabriele la Posta – director of the Budapest Italian Cultural Institute, who is also a historian.

In less than a week an astonishing production for opera and ballet lovers will have the opportunity to watch grand performances at the Cinema MOM and other Budapest’s cinemas(see venues Part 1.) and the audience throughout the country may also enjoy these awesome presentation on screen (see the whereabouts Part1).

The 2022-23 season features international opera stars such as Juan Diego Flórez and Danielle de Niese in BOHEMIAN LIFE, Elena Stikhina and Ludovic Tézier in AIDA or Bryn Terfel in THE BARBER OF SEVILLE appearing in the main roles.

Dates & Performances 2022/2023:

The cinema’s opera season starts on September, 27, with Puccini’s thrilling opera, MISS BUTTERFLY. From October, 5, the audience can enjoy the opening night of Kenneth MacMillan’s Mayerling choreography to the music of Ferenc Liszt, whose historical background we Hungarians can understand even better than the Anglo-Saxon audience. The evergreen AIDA, conducted by Antonio Pappano, can be seen from October 12 in Robert Carsen‘s new direction. Argentine tenor star Juan Diego Flórez, who missed several seasons due to vocal cord problems, and Danielle de Niese in the lead roles in the cast of the parade presenting BOHEMIA LIFE on October, 20. From November, 16, the Royal Ballet’s celebratory evening entitled DIAMOND, composed of five separate works, one of which is Diamonds by the popular American choreographer George Balanchine, will be broadcast for the first time. The world premiere of a ballet piece will also take place, with the participation of the ÉTOILES and leading dancers of the time. From December, 8, a real family favorite, THE NUTCRACKER, will conquer the hearts of viewers – with its enchanting snow scenes, magic shows, and dances in the Kingdom of Sweets. In the new year, from January, 19, the screening series will start with an “adult” (meaning erotically charged) ballet choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, based on the touching love story of the Mexican writer Laura Esquivel, titled: HA LÓ NILA … The ballet premiere will be followed by the opera BARBER OF SEVILLE and TURANDOT with the participation of Bryn Terfel, and then the Royal Ballet’s CINDERELLA  fairy tale ballet will be performed, by the choreography Frederick Ashton can be seen in a new arrangement. From April, 27, audiences can enjoy THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO with the evergreen melodies of Mozart, followed by the Royal Ballet’s production of SLEEPING BEAUTY from May, 24.

The season ends with THE TROUBADOUR, which this time in a daring new direction by Olivier Award-winner Adele Thomas, starring Rachel Willis-Sørensen, Ludovic Tézier and Yusif Eyvazov, will be available to cinema audiences from June, 13.
