SOUTH-AMERICA FIESTA IN BUDAPEST

Well visiting the Fiesta of „Vintage Adventures and Culture in Latin America”  at the Fogasház wasn’t like taken a visit to those South-American countries which brought their sight-and-sound, wine products, yet indeed many could taste, see, learn much from the exhibitors information on the spot.

The outstanding wines from Chile is not a question … taste, flavor with its centuries of producing wines have earned Chilean wines a place of honor among one of the world’s finest. Of course the enviroment’s conditions has to do a lot, the soil, sunlight, exposure, temperature, humidity… (just like in many regions in Hungary with its special conditions for also premier winemaking … but that’s going to be coming soon in another update.) Throughout the 3 days many visitors can get into the mood having the South-American feeling, along with wines from the Wein Import Hungary Chile brought in association with the Latin American Association.

On of the highlights of the day was the special exhibition with paintings by the Chilean artists Mr. Patricio Baeza, the silicone artist painter. His works will remain hundreds-and-hundreds of years in same colors and condition as if they were painted just a day ado … so said Mr. Ferenc Keresztes graphic artist and painter also the teacher of Mr. Patricio Baeza. The painters have arrived to a new era in painting with an invention that revolutionized the universal visual arts by Mr. József  Nagy and Mr. Ferenc Kereztres.  In the past centuries if artists would have had known about the SziloKing silicone paint, to-day needn’t have to worry to be able to see, admire the origins generally, resplendent in the colors of the works of great painters … said Mr. Ferenc Keresztes graphic artist and painter and the teacher of Mr. Patricio Baeza.

La Tienda … brought really there Latina  mood with its colorful, bright, fragrant, unique artisan  ceramics items. You just cannot leave their stand before having a long look or buying any South-American items, as a magnet, decorative tile, bathroom accessories, Flower pot or vase, textiles and a gorgeous mirror, oh and the colourful parrot  or the butterfly almost just like to fly away in a second.

Ecuador … was also out to represent their offers  with the rich cultural  and multiethnic heritage. Adorable their handcrafts due to the knowledge and the use of the ancient techniques which have had been transmitted from generation-to-generation. Most probably needn’t have to say … Ecuador’s yarn and fabrics are the most known products, mainly out in Peru, Venezuela, Columbia, USA and Europe. Who haven’t seen somewhere Ecuador’s wood product … The high quality, diversity and creativity makes Ecuadorian wood very diverse and fascinate, made from teak, boards, balsa.

Venezuele had also a stand with beautiful hand-made items, worthwhile to visit.

Even though in between South-America and Spain an Ocean wash the shores, but Spain didn’t wish to be away from this grand fiesta gathering.  So Spain wish to present their presence by opening eyes to individuals to walk on the line to the Granada Spanish language school here in Budapest, Hungary.

Mexico tourism board presented a wide scale of unlimited programs to the visitors. Mexico City is the biggest and most populated city in  the world. Its history shows several expressions of its traditional roots. Cool building attractions, churches, museums and so forth.

Last but not least here a link I wish to share of the video taken at the opening ceremony of the hot salsa dancers from the Cuban Salsa Dance Tutorial Diabolica: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNh9BOYsy0E

There is still a chance to pop by and „spend” time in South-America at the Gear House „Fogasház” District VIII. 51 Akácfa Street –Budapest.

ROLLING OVER TO CHILE – IN THE MOOD OF THE SOUTH AMERICA FIESTA!

Get ready for rolling over to Chile in the upcoming three days trip in Budapest starting next Friday throughout the  week-end.

 March, 22. – 24. 2013.

Just incase this shocking snowy and stormy cold weather throughout the country brought you down, don’t worry spring „must know it’s way” and it will hopefully hook up next week in our country. Looking forward to the wine specialties of domestic and foreigners interested to have the experience of the atmosphere of wines from Chile. Pardon me for one thing, but cannot bring the view of the tall palm trees, the warmth of the swaying breeze by the boardwalk beside the Ocean from Chile, but  the organizers of the „Vintage Adventures and Culture in Latin America” will surely bring the feeling of the warmth of the harvest that is just taking place in the Chilean fall with the harmonious wines at the Fogasház during the 3 days events.

As mentioned in the previous update, see: https://rollinginbudapest.com/2013/02/28/chilean-wine-evening-at-the-resident-of-the-h-e-chilean-ambassador-in-budapest/  the Embassy of Chile as one of the main sponsors jointly with the Wein Import Hungary Chile and the Latin American Association. They jointly invites to join, be a part at this celebration at the open doors and windows showing the colorful land and culture of South America. One of the major marks of Chile is their superb wines. Previously, heard, not tasted yet the wine from  the Casablanca Valley which is known as to be the similar to the popularity gained as the area of Marlborough, New Zealand. The major oceanic effects on human land suitable for elegant and harmonious structured wines. The wines from here show intense aromas, and full maturity in addition to dynamic, but still make it really nice acids derived from the harmonious wines. The ripening period brings a deep and rich flavors of the grapes.

I’d love to be the growing grapes at the Casablanca Valley where the days are mostly in the 28C degree and the nights ain’t so cold, only around 5C,  but to be serious anyone can enjoy and relax during the next week-end with a glass of Chilean wine whilst ” tasting”- “visiting” – “listening”  “dancing” to the hot  music of South America.

Throughout the 3 days the admission is free to the event.

For the tasting, registration is required to participate, the advance ticket price is 2500HUF  and at the spot on the actual day will be 2800HUF.

Location to the Gear House „Fogasház”  District VII. – 51 Akácfa Str. Budapest

Opening Ceremony starts at 4 p.m.- 4.30 po.m. on Friday, March 22. Continues with Cuban Salsa Dance Tutorial Diabolica at 4:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. thereafter, at 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. Ms. Zsuzsanna Kasza, editor Latimoport.hu, Barrera and Patricio Baeza photos by Venezuelan and Chilean painters  exhibition opening will be held.

Continuing the afternoon’s programs there will be every evening a party to close the day’s event, dominated by featuring music from the continent.

PAST WEEK-END AT THE GASTRO MARKET – MILLENIUM CENTER – BUDAPEST – MARCH, 2013

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The statistic figures say there were more than 18 thousands of people curious to visit the new Hungarian gastronomy Market.
One of the big hits, as a new scene at the market was the gastronomic points   where  fish, wild meat and aurochs meat stews were served.

Friday’s opening day was only a few visitors. Most likely of  being Friday as the working day. thereafter, the Saturday and Sunday hit the scale, was so full of customers that was a real challenge to step from one desk to the other with rows awaiting to be closer at the aurochs salami, the gastro points serving stews, sausages, hungarian pastas, salads, sweets for the sweets breads with many kind of seeds inside and sprinkled on the tops. As during the previous market fairs the organizers of the fair emphasis on the charity of the Hungarian Ecumenical Assistance Organization to host the needy children at the fair.

Special flavors were not missing this time at all: the gray beef sausage with prune, raspberry duck sausage with mustard, or spicy sausage with mustard core. During the 3 days was a real sensation to taste and buy the four hundred years extinct aurochs meat sausages and salami as well. Mention a couple of outstanding producers I have met,  Mr. and Mrs. Csaba Sápi’s  heavenly fruit wines and fruit brandy all prepared by the pair from fresh fruits coming from his relatives plants living throughout the countryside.

Mr. Gábor Galuska  oenologist representing the Gajdos winerey from Egerszalók. Had the pleasure to taste all which were brought to the Gastro points and my both thumbs were up when tasted the Chardonnay of Eger (2009).  It had it all, the harmonic clean, fruity taste is accompanied by spicy and the touch of vanilla flavours from the old oak barrels. Even just giving a smell to it was mouth-watering. Delicious tasty home-made wafers  with spicy seeds and  flavors brought from Mohács by producer Mrs.  Furák Andrásné caught many to stop at the stand and have a bit or two. Most probably for many it rings the bell as the name Tokaj is pronounced. Yes it is linked to the land of Hungary’s  unique wine. Saying this not that I’m biased, but yes indeed the region of Tokaj  has superb wines. Mr. Tibor Jarabek, commercial representative, made sure to give a snip. He was sorry fo r not being able to give a taste of their this year’s new product produced  for an Easter present with a “Halas” lace on the label … just for the ladies  They where out of the lady’s most favorite of the day. So cannot add my experiences  in taste this time to it.  The  about the Tokaj-Hétszőlő – Seven Grape Vineyard just in brief of its background: “The Seven Grape Vineyard in 1502 was named when the Garaiak seven smaller plots developed by purchasing their own. The estate is owned by the former is found in the King James Version Bible translation, Gabor Bethlen, Prince of Transylvania and the Rákóczi ones. After 1713 the area became the property of the imperial court. The Tokaj Wine Winery Seven of the center was built-in the early 1700s Dessewffy Rákóczi castle. The Tisza is Baroque mansion was a Salt customs house for a long time, the salt from Máramarosból barge in and declared to be loaded on a cart. Contemporary documents Palace cellar, and referred to as the Palace today and Rákóczi Cellar is located above the building complex. The building above the cellar in Tokaj Castle Destruction (1705), the estate became the center of Tokaj. Today, the Teutonic Order Knights’ Hall of wine and wine tasting ceremonies will take place. It later became the estate wine museum with old wines and old vintages aszú SZAMORODNI rest and covered with noble mold.”

PR1MER stand was a ” breadland”. Their composition of the product range includes traditional Hungarian bakery products, packaged sliced breads and pastries taste of whole wheat.

When it comes to fish … there’s my place and for the first time I had the pleasure to see at  the Gastro Market  a  stand representing the  Szalajka Valley’s  smoked trout and imported  smoke and non-smoked salmon. Mr. László Sáfrány talked about breeding the trouts, which ain’t a mystery, yet it has pitfalls of fish farming and the aquatic and forest ecosystem services. It is worthwhile to pay a visit to his spectacular smoked trout site at  Szilvásvárad in the Szalajka Valley to see and enjoy the mouth-watering tastes of smoked trouts served directly from the producer.

One of my most favorite stand I have had been visiting in the past few years is the “V”  – Vitabox products.  The Vitabox is a fmaily ran  company by Mrs. Edit Kézér Kissné.  Hope don’t mind for a little personal intermezzo here …  A couple of years ago I told Edit for me the “V” stands  for Victory,   Edit  looked strangely at me and asked how come?  I told her my panty zip doesn’t show the “V” since I am  drinking her 100% natural freshly pressed fruit-with-fruit and  the fruit mixed with veggies. The Vitabox products are free of added  any material, just the pure fruits, made by heat-preservsation. The  natural juice plant manufacturer is operated  by the use of the Austrian company’s Voran machine.  Edit’s 3 children were out at the stand to give a support to their Mum’s two hands. Many-many walking by stopped, tasted and bought  a box of  “V”, but the “heavy weight champs” bought two boxes. Each box … fruit juice and  fruit mixed with veggies weighted 5 liter.

This was the fifth gastronomic fair and market with producing 120 Hungarian choose from among more than 5 ,000 customers taste.

The visitors were able to taste more than 20 kinds of cooked food at the gastronomic points. and had great success in the Mr.Krisztian Papp MIKSZ CEO, the organizer of the fair said at the gastro market coming to the end “we had great success at this year’s first gastronomic market and visitors, as buyers throughout the three days were once again able to vote for their favorite producer. The organizers of this year handed over two industry awards. One of these was also engaged in meat processing by Mr. Dezső Szomor, while the other most voted producer of pure fresh fruits and veggies in the syrups forms and jams won the prize by family owned  couple: “Török Ada”.  Mrs.Törökné Katalin Dancs came with her husband from the former huge Hungarian territory Ard, Serbia.

The Török Ada family own manufacture was established in 1985  and is well-known by now to the visitors at  the  Market of  Hungarian Home-Made Food. Their products face on pure jams,  100% of vegetable juices,  goat milk soap and quince jelly cakes produced all from fresh fruits. The lay importance to  produce fruits in liquid forms that supports our daily health.  The vitamins and trace elements both are locked in every bottle. One of their new products was this year the  wonderful blackberry wine vinegar and the mulberry vinegar, the world’s most powerful fat-eater. The fruit vinegar is known from way back  in the ancient times. Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine also remembered multifaceted health-enhancing effects. In the mid-20th century became to be re-known. Even to this day it is considered  as  one of the most popular and most frequently used method of weight loss.

Beside the current Fair in June, will be at the Millennium Center the Goose Festival. In October the Wild Fish Festival. Reaching the end of the year in November will knock on the door again the  Handicraft Flavors of  Hungary Gastro Fair and markets.

CONTEMPORARY CULTURE FOR FOREIGN COMMUNITIES IN HUNGARY

the-lonesome-west-english-card

This year the 1st of April will be a special day in Budapest for 3 happenings!

1st. …  just like all around the world the first of April, is considered to be the „Fools Day”.

2nd. … it comes to be the day of Easter Monday.

3rd. … last but not least at all, the Átrium Film and Theater in Budapest will have

The Lonesome West „Vaknyugat”  drama play with English subtitles.

Location: District II., – 55 Margit Blvd. Budapest.

From April, 2013, the Martin McDonagh’s play The Lonesome West (title in Hungarian: Vaknyugat) will be  brought on stage not only for the Hungarian public to follow by understanding what’s going on the stage, but to welcome the foreign audience working, living and staying in Budapest – Hungary to see the play with English subtitle.

In the future, Átrium Film and Theater will stage the play one-time each month with English subtitles.

The drama’s premiere was staged in December, 30.2013. by Mr. Péter Gothár,  starring: Mr. Róbert Alföldi, Mr. István Ficza, Ms.Piroska Mészáros and Mr.Tamás Rétfalvi. This was the first co-production between of the Kultúrbrigád and the Átrium Film and Theater. Every since the first day of the premiere the house  was completely full, all the tickets are sold out in advance.

The Átrium Film and Theater, is run by the English Language Performance Theater Foundation, which is the center of the English language performances in Hungary. According to Mr.László Magács, Managing Director of the Átrium, a long-awaited gap has become to be filled by providing culture events to be seen by Hungarian artists for foreigner residents and those individuals visiting our country to come along, have the experience and enjoy the contemporary theater.

Mr. Martin McDonagh’s play is wildly popular all over the world, the staging of Mr.Péter Gothár has the sound whatever the tongue of the performance is, and since acting represents a kind of international language, those viewing the performance with subtitles can get the same entertainment as those who enjoy the Hungarian adaptation of the play by Mr. Dániel Varró which is in a par with the original script. The theatrical performance handling the settings with artistic freedom and conveying a strong director’s interpretation and vision may well enrich those coming from the Anglo-Saxon world with extraordinary experience.

Production Manager claims it is a captivating dramaturgic challenge to re-convert Mr.Dániel Varró’s translation to the original ‘dialect’ of English’ of the McDonagh’s script so as the viewer, while studying the subtitles, may also observe and enjoy the superb actors play performing on the stage.

The Lonesome West „Vaknyugat” with English language subtitles will first be performed  at 5 p.m. on Monday, April, 1. 2013, at the Átrium Film and Theater. Mind you! … it is recommended that viewers who wish to see the play with English subtitles should purchase their tickets in the back rows of the theater to be able to read the subtitles displayed above the stage.

Wishing you all a lovely evening at the Atrium on the first of April!

ROLLING OVER TO INDIA, EVEN IF JUST SITTING AND WATCHING THE MAGIC OF INDIA FROM THE SEATS AT THE  ATRIUM FILM AND THEATER.

FIRST NIGHT IN INDIA!

March, 6 – 10. 2013.   – District II.   55. Margit Blvd. Budapest.

The India Festival is organized by the Embassy of India in Budapest. During the five days festival will be screening 7 Hindi films, offering dance performance, lectures on Indian films and culture, tourism programs, puppet show, children workshops and an exhibition which can be viewed on the program days.

6.15 p.m. – Wednesday, March, 6.

The Atrium was full with the invited  honor guests and local audience eager to see the Kathak dance performance by Ms. Sharmila Sharma, they say she is a precious stone of carrying the India culture, but I would rather say she is a shinning pearl of cherishing the art of traditional dances from India! At the age of 3 she already decided she wish to be a dancer. To-day she lives in France. Been around the world with the performances we were about to see: in the States, Switzerland, Great Britain  of course in France and now she lay her footsteps to Budapest bringing this opening evening of the India Festival, with three performances on stage at the Atrium Theater in Budapest.  The audience deeply expressed their appreciation for her awesome show. In the show the presence of the strong symbiosis of the Hindu and Muslim cultures were present as bringing alive the North Indian Kathak  dynamic style of dance.  Being at this evening’s show, can only say Ms. Sharmila Sharma is definitely one of the best Kathak dancers to have open such a grand festival. The audience, even for only less than an hour could have felt they have went back in time and dropped over to Northern India. At the end of the superb performance the Ambassador of India to Hungary his Excellency Gauri Shankar Gupta went up to the stage to express his sincere thanks for the  giving all of us a lovely evening.

Briefly about the Kathak classical dance:
“It comes from the North of India. The word Kathak is derived from katha meaning “storytelling”. The expression “Katha kahe so” Kathak means whoever tells a story in a dance form with song is a Kathak. The movements of hands (mudra) and body along with facial expressions (abhinaya) were used to tell a story with song and music and this gave birth to Kathak and Kathakars. Originally, the artists known as the Kathakars told mythological stories (harikatha) in the Hindu temples of Northern India and obviously their art was deeply rooted in the Hindu religion, philosophy and spirituality. The Kathakars knowledge – compositions and choreography – were passed on from generation to generation through oral tradition. Between the l2th and the l8th century, Kathak was practised in the magnificent palaces of the Mughal emperors and even earlier in those of Hindu rulers. After being a totally devotional temple art, it had also become a court dance, intended to entertain those powerful rulers. It enriched itself by borrowing from Persian cultural elements and as such, the aesthetics of the dance evolved in accordance with the aesthetics of the Muslim culture too.
The current form of Kathak is linked to the Mughal era. During that period the facial expressions and gestures gained in subtlety. The artist was indeed able to express a theme in many different ways with a wide range of nuances. The aspect of pure dance (nritta) gained in sophistication and speed. The rhythm, movements and pirouettes became more complex. Kathak also became permeated with elegant Urdu poetry along with the poems in Braj. (One of the last Mughal emperors, Wajid Ali Shah himself composed songs on Krishna in Braj.

With this breathtaking performance by  Ms. Sharmila Sharma, the evening did not end. At 7.30 p.m.  Ek Main Aur Tu from 2012, a musical  romantic comedy was screening. Staring: Imran Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah. Director: Shakun Batra.  Quick Specs from the film: A few drinks too many leads an uptight architect and quick-witted hairstylist to marry in Las Vegas. Can a mistake lead to friendship and love? Imran, an introvert architect, and Kareena, a carefree hair stylist, meet in Las Vegas and get married after getting drunk. The next day, they realise their mistake and start the process of annulling their marriage.

On the spot an exhibition was opened to-day titled: Life with Love. Photos are of Esther Horváth … Radiant, charming, touching… An exhibition for your heart! The exhibition will be out throughout the period of the festival.

Day2, 3, 4, 5 … to be continued …
