XIII. Harvest time at Kiskőrös and Slovak National Days

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Celebrating the XIII. harvest of grapes a 3 days festival was held at Kiskőrös together with the Slovakian Days. Was fine time to get together and exchange the mutual commons and have a taste at  the  Kiskőrös – “Lowland” – plain area wines in Hungary. The invitation was upon by the Szentpéteri and the Vass winery.

The wine region of this territory is called the Danube lowland or the plain wine region. This region holds 109.760 hectares, namely the „Kunság wines”.  The wine culture here goes back in time recorded  of the wines of the „Golden Sand”. Also the records says the vineyard were already popular known during the Roman emperor in the III. century.  Mostly known from this area are the  wines named: „Kövidinka” – “Ezerjó” – “Gold Sárfehér” (Gold muddy white)” and the  “Kadarka”.

Upon arrival a short presentation was held at the Wine house of  Attila Szentpéter and Mária Pivárcsi Ms. Vass who both talked about their wine house.  Then after the invitation to a fine local lunch was introduced and  tasted the wines that goes perfectly well to the dishes.

Attila Szentpéteri, originally an agricultural engineer, became slowly in love with the thought of having a winery. His winery is  at the „Old grapes wine cellar carved into the sandy hill”. His number one wine the „Nero” – specially made as a rosé was promoted at national and international competitions. As he added, to have quality wine you need quality grapes. and here at Kiskőrös the unique circumstances bring special wines. Even though this area has been  for ages producing wines said Attila Szentpéteri,  they are still looking for to find their unique connection expressing their wines the „face of the region” … just like other wine regions have connected their wines to their area, culture or past history events.

Mária Pivárcsi Ms. Vass, the owners and producer of the Vass winery said, it  is a family run business since 1998. Their wines are made from their own harvest grapes and some grapes brought from  the surrounding area. The wine cellar provides 3500 hl. The storage space, handling and storage of wines takes place in 25 to 100 hl steel tanks. She added being happy to say the Vass winery’s wines has been in row standing  for the 5th year as the city’s white wine produced by her winery.

Even though this area has been  for ages producing wines said Attila Szentpéteri,  they are still looking for to find their unique connection expressing their wines the „face of the region” … just like other wine regions have connected their wines to their area, culture or past history events.

During the three days programs, beside tasting at the booth the rich in flavor wines, were also rich in urban traditional culture events and food. High number of  audience visited the traditional folklore programs. Even a large number of  Finnish tourists were waving their national flags to show the locals their present, enjoying their stay and awaiting to see on the main stage the local folklore singers and dancers.  There were the  series of  viticulture lectures whereas the  „Kiskőrösi Gondűző Wine Knight Order”, invited guests and professional wine makers were present.  The presentations where mainly about the Danube and Tisza area grape cultivation history. The wine makers of Kiskőrös back-and-forth were changing experiences on speaking of ideas how to stop, prevent the grapes attacked by phyiloxera  that mainly destroys, hits the „Bianca” grapes while making Bianca wines.

As the end of the lectures came the wine knights parade started. More than a dozen wine knights were present and as they rolled on the main street of Kiskőrös  the people welcomed them with cheers. Reaching the main stage awards were handed over for the-best-of-the best wine makers.

Just an extra thought … many things goes through the mind when it come to Kiskőrös,  for example … Hungary’s great poet „Sándor Petőfi’’ hometown, several museums, monuments and city events.

Mentioning also widely known in Europe, that Kiskőrös is the land of famous thermal spa. Not just the locals, but a couple of  foreigner countries citizens  who have already relaxed and recharge themselves come back to enjoy nature’s gift. Also at this area, a large number of Slovakian individuals live and they are keeping their national traditional within programs and delicious home-made kitchen.

Smaller and large wineries welcome their visitors for wine tasting, giving by professional and knowledgeable service. So it is worthy to visit this area in having a wine tour and enjoying the sights as well.

The citizens of  Kiskőrös have become more-and-more to know their lowland wine makers. Not yet,  a high number, but hopefully from around the nation and foreigners will get to know more about the Kiskőrös wines as being on wine map of Hungary.

Békéscsaba – Jókai Theater – Shakespeare’s “Comedy of Errors”

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Attended at a theater performance you just don’t find on every corner. Was Shakespeare’s “Comedy of Errors” at the Jókai Theater at the City of Békéscsaba. This play was the first premiere of the new season. The play is still popular anywhere, anytime around the world since the Renaissance. Shakespeare’s masterpiece is filled with laughter and always in a way tragic, but surely provide some lessons to be heard! An unbridled comedy where complications, jealousy, vanity and human weaknesses show up. Even  though this  piece of Shakespeare was written in 1592, we may feel familiar within the similarities in the 21st century and some tragic lessons can be recognized even to-day.

At the entrance of  the Békéscsaba Jókai Theater invited guests were welcomed along the red carpet by Péter Fekete – former long time director  of the Békéscsaba Jókai Theater, who applied for the position to be the Head at Hungarian Circus and Variety Office  and Zoltán Seregi former deputy director  who is from  August, 1., in charge acting director at Békéscsaba Jókai Theater.

The scene takes place at city of Ephesus where, as each city can be found among the inhabitants the bad girls, merchants, privileged people and servants, so it is simple as that.  Shakespeare perfectly presents the audience laughter and tragedy at the same time.

The performance offered a parade of stars who were all to ensure perfect evening. Imre Csiszár – Jászai Mari Prize and Outstanding Artist directed a quality performances at Békéscsaba. In the role of Antipholus of Ephesus – Zoltán Bezerédi -Kossuth Prize actor from the Katona József Theater in Budapest played the role. Shakespeare’s comedy was staged by the translation of Imre Szász. The costume designer – Györgyi Szakács – Jászai and Kossuth Prize. The music has been compiled by  Virág Csiszár. The stage movement was designed by Péter Mlinar.

Shakespeare’s works focus on the ageless and people skills that make the play  eternal, high-quality performances perpetuate, Solinus, the role of the Duke of Ephesus was the Jászai-winner – Gyula Bartus, Aegean Syracuse trader Ferenc Jancsik. A set of other great actors with their colorful diction was Ferenc Katkó, Attila Gulyás, Lajos Csomós,  Tamás Presits,  Lajos Szabó, Attila Czitor and Keve M. Ormandy. Emilia, Aegeon’s wife and the nun prioress was played by Edit Kovács, Adriana, Antipholus of Ephesus’s wife by Anett Komáromi, Luciana, her sister by Melinda  Liszi. The House of Theater Studies students were given a chance in many multi-playing acts.  Individual and community conflicts, situation comedies and characteristics an inexhaustible reservoir.

Complete works, validity and popularity of Shakespeare  are authoring wisdom, humor, based on visual points. The performance on stage was very lively, a real bustle.  Four buildings … two residential building, a convent and a locale  and the actors were  running in-and-out,  around the places.

Everyone is looking for something … in a rush for their money, looking for their  pair,  or just wants to fulfill their master’s command. Because of the confusion the roles are mixed  up. They do not find their place in the world, they feel they slipped their ground from under their feet, have lost their personality, their identity, became a stranger in their own environment, they experience serious spiritual crisis. Quite ordinary story, it happens often, even to-day, with, in and around us. Quite often to be left no legs to stand on.

The dramatic tension dissolves only at the end of the play when the roles are clarified and come to be a Happy The-End.

After the play, the guest were invited to the reception party at the theater’s hall, whereas the  award ceremony also took place during the evening of the Wine Knights of the Region. Beside the seven men there was only one lady who bore the title of wine knight arriving from Szeged.

Caprice Diamond Palace!

The DUNDU name  meaning “friendly”  comes from the German Du und Du expression, which stands for You and You. DUNDU was strolling down from  one of Budapest’s  most spectacular boulevard called Andrássy and led its way into the heart of Budapest to reach its final appearance awaiting for its  arrival to the newly open

The 5 member team have managed to make a mechanical mannequin which combines enormous size and imposing  appearance with natural charm and grace, well indeed, that was  DUNDU this evening in Budapest. DUNDU was also escorted on the way by Timea Vajna – co-owner of the Caprice Diamond Palace.

Many people locals and foreigners just couldn’t stand still and taken photos of the walking DUNDU. The rolling DUNDU has  created a quite unique atmosphere and  the audience sitting outside restaurants and bars, threw away the fork and knife just to grab the camera, truly captivated his audience.  This performance really showed  a whole new dimension of Puppet Theater.  The 5 member team have managed to make a mechanical mannequin which combines enormous size and imposing  appearance with natural charm and grace, well indeed, that was  DUNDU  this evening in Budapest. The puppet players steered and handled the puppet simultaneously to  make you believe he is a live man!

The glittering diamonds in the evening light very soon attracted the attention of the folks passing by. as well.

Most probably not on my own by saying the Caprice Dimond Palace really stands for its name in capital letters PALACE!

More to the officially opening update on the palace soon follows. Until then take a look at DUNDU rolling on the Streets of Budapest.

Budapest is staging its own Lunch Beat Break

Orbit Lunch Beat in Budapest 2015

The beat goes on in the middle of the day and only last for 60 minutes. to unloose between your daily work and go for it. The Lunch Beat has arrived to Budapest.

It started in Sweden around the season of fall in 2010, when 14 friends decided to dance their lunch breaks away in their office garage. They called their gathering “Lunch Beat.”  More and more people are joining, popping around  at Lunch Beat places around Europe’s countries. The basic idea behind Lunch Beat is that workers take an hour break in the middle of the day to let loose in the company of fellow dance-enthusiasts.

Here in Budapest just couldn’t resist not to copy this daytime dining in flavor of daytime raves. One major thing you have to keep in mind is to not go into conversation about your job at  Orbit Lunch Beat. This will surely …  as intended to be … of forgetting about your job, so you can feel energized and inspired when you get back to your little world, your desk.

Go for it … fist-pumping, as sweat-dripping revelers, in your perfectly iron suit or  dancing in  your cute little costumes. It is really beneficial to public health as well.

You are welcomed to attended a non-nightlife  Lunch Beat starting on Thursday,September,3.2015. at 12.30 p.m where Deniz will be taking care to tap your feet at the Westend City Center B2 parking lot. Continuing at eight different venues where you can let go your spirit at eight different locations in Budapest:

On September 10,  – Juli & Zoohacker Corvin Plaza’s rooftop terrace. On September, 17. –  The New Empire Level at Dob Street  Supply House, On September,24, The Biebers  at the InstantOn. October, 1 – The Honeybeast  at the Sky Terrace of Gozsdu, October, 6,  – the Budapest Bar  at the Supply House.  October, 8. – Kallay Band Saunders at the Dorothy-Yard, while the Animal Cannibals on October 15, proves live concert at the Westend for the lunchy folks.

Having 60 minutes of lunch break is not as long than for example in France (2Hs) but now here in Budapest can experience to get into the mood at the Orbit Lunch Beat rather than having lunch at the usual place at the workplace canteen or sitting  in front your computer by your desk.

Hope this newsflash will reach many dance loving interested folks, but you are too lazy to dance … eat elsewhere.

Beer was always the liquid bread for many Hungarians. As years went by new, fine, smooth  beers were presented by breweries. In-between tasting the superb  Hungarian beers, for the first time, the Főzdefeszt welcomes a couple of international breweries. Mentioning a few …  Van de Streek  – Netherlands, BrewAge – Austria and Lucky Bastrad – Czech Republic.

Newsflash … Over 900 runners join Runway Run – Budapest Airport -2015

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

It is not a breaking news, but worthwhile to know for local and foreigner Marathon runners.

In  a week from now …  Saturday, September, 5. 2015.

A record-high number of participants are expected to join this year a unique charity running event at Budapest Airport. More than 900 runners will start down Runway 1 (13L/31R) of Liszt Ferenc International Airport to decide who is the quickest among airport employees …  the fastest airline team or the fastest running aviation executive.

Runway Run has become a unique airport and aviation sports event in Europe since there is no other occasion when athletes can run an otherwise active airport runway. This is also a nice informal opportunity for aviation industry professionals to meet and get acquainted not only with the best airport in Eastern Europe (Skytrax 2014 and 2015 award) but also with Budapest and its surroundings.

More than 170 foreign professionals have registered for the event and will fly in just to participate in Runway Run.

This year the runners will have to run either 5 or 10 kilometers up and down the runway (closed from 7.00 to 15.00 hours just that day) or in a team relay of 5+5 km each. Altogether more than 900 runners have registered for the race including many sports people from Budapest Airport itself, airlines employees, top managers from the aviation industry, key partners of the airport and representatives of airport authorities (police, customs, SWAT-team – TEK, CAA, firefighters and even the members of the ambulance).

Proceedings from the registration fee will go in case of foreign participants to support Anthony Nolan Foundation –  UK-based bone-marrow transplant charity and in case of the Hungarians will go to “Suhanj!” Foundation whose members help and create sporting opportunities for disabled young people. The main sponsor of this year’s Runway Run is Airbus Industries from Toulouse, France and there are many other airport partners who help to make this event successful.

“I am sure that Runway Run 3.0 will again deliver a unique running experience for all participants.” says Jost Lammers, CEO of Budapest Airport who has at least one full marathon behind him. He added: “I expect a tough race this year since I know that many of my colleagues, airport and airline executives will be among the runners so all want to capture a special prize this year again. I was surprised to find out just how many active runners are there amongst the aviation community as well as key business partners and we are happy to host them every year for this special race in Budapest.”
