This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The National Syngenta Wine Competition was organized for the twentieth time, and this year a total of 501 entries were received from the region of Tokaj to Sopron. At the award ceremony of the jubilee competition, one bottle of wine each from the competitors were received to test by the jury.

The National Syngenta Wine Competition is also an important event for the wine industry. After a forced break of two years, the large-scale competition was organized again. A total of 501 entries were received from all wine regions of the country for the jubilee wine competition. The judges of this year’s wine competition rated 262 white wines, 166 red wines, 53 rosé wines, 10 champagnes, 8 sparkling wines and two sillers. 216 entries were received from the 2022 vintage.

The wines of the 2022 vintage are definitely promising, even though there was a lot of uncertainty about the success of the cultivation due to the severe drought. In the case of the fragrant grape varieties – Irsai Olivér – Cserszegi spicy, muscot 2022 was a particularly good vintage, and the blue grapes also produced quality crops in many places. The 28 gold medals also indicate that, despite the difficulties, the wines of the vintage represent quality. Together with the “competitors” from previous vintages, they formed an extremely balanced and strong field at the jubilee wine competition, therefore the jury members did not have an easy task at all.

Jubilee Wines – SynVino Awards

Béres Vineyard and Winery Ltd. 2017 Béres Tokaj’s six-to-date aszú, Zenit of Attila Maróti 2022, Zsolt Maul’s Premium Winery 2018 David Cuvée, and a Szentpéteri wine cellar selection of Nero Rosé 2022.

Great Gold Award

Great gold was recognized by Cezus Hun-Garden Ltd. – Cabernet Franc 2018, Fitomark-94 Ltd. 39. – Aura Cuvée 2019 and Tolcsva-Bor Ltd.

The jury rewarded the extremely strong field with big golds and in addition the jury awarded 114 gold, 312 silver and 6 bronze.

The annual press conference of Mapei SpA was held in the gorgeous environment @ House of Hungarian Music Budapest

Before the press conference, the representatives of the invited media were invited to the local Dome, where we took part in a Crossover-Classical-Contemporary-Electronic on an audiovisual journey.

After that awesome journey, about 50 people continued to their seat to the press conference hall. First, the CEO of Mapei SpA, Veronica Squinzi, talked about the background of the company which was founded by Rodolfo Squinzi– In the early days, it manufactured colored paints and materials for building coverings. In 1978, Giorgio Squinzi graduated in industrial chemistry, began internationalizing the company, both commercially and in terms of production, and opening their first small factory in Canada after supplying adhesives for installing the rubber surfaces used for the athletics tracks at the Montreal Olympics in 1976. Over the following decades the company expanded into Austria, United States, France and then the rest of the world, opening new branches and taking over other important brands, starting with Vinavil in Italy in 1994 and most recently culminating in its latest acquisition of Fili & Form. This growth strategy is connected with the need to manufacture adhesives and chemical products for the building industry within a 400–500 km radius of building operations to keep transport costs sustainable. MAPEI SpA currently operates 90 subsidiaries in 56 countries, operating through 83 manufacturing plants in 36 countries and each with its own quality control laboratory, and 31 research centers (including a corporate center) and in 20 countries employing 11,000 people. It operates a total of 100 representative offices.

After the general introduction, she turned to speak about Mapie’s today by saying the sustainable development is the most important of Mapei’s four pillars, which the company set as a goal in 2010. Q.: “The goal is to use high-quality building materials to create buildings that are as durable and sustainable as possible. This requires the development of many more recycled materials, all with maximum consideration of energy efficiency aspects. The company’s zero cold cladding product line fits into this line, which covers the entire range of cold cladding through adhesives and grouts in a sustainable manner, carbon dioxide emissions without.” Overall Mapei SpA expects the sales increasing of more than 6% this year.

Following Ms Veronica Squinzi’s presentation, Mr. Béla Markovich – managing director of Mapei Ltd., presented the company’s results for 2022 and plans for 2023. According to Béla Markovich, there is still a cochlear phenomenon on the market. In order for clients to avoid pitfalls when issuing construction/renovation works, they must be much more conscious when selecting specialists. He presented a website at https://www.szakemberajanlo.hu where a customer can find professionals who have created beautiful and handy things in the past and who can be trusted. This site may draw the customer’s attention to the honest professionals in need. How to choose a contractor so that you don’t go wrong. According to the executive, one of the company’s most important goals is to find good professionals and entrust them with construction work, therefore ensuring construction dreams to come true and not to become nightmare. Spoke about the situation here in Hungary regarding the wages Q.: “Upon Mapei’s information, the 8636HUF per square meter price already corresponds to European-level wages.” According to Béla Markovich, this slows down emigration, with such wages not worth for the majority of professionals to go working abroad. However, if demand continues to decrease, despite the high wages, without work, there is fear that the emigration of skilled construction workers will increase again. Around 43% of professionals perceive no difficulty in the supply of building materials. Only 53% experience minor difficulties, and 3% perceive significant difficulties. Most of them experience supply problems in the field of wood, insulation and tile products.

Just a picture in the frame … The larger job means the waiting time is longer. This time for minor repairs is 46 days on average, for minor constructions and renovations 56 days, for medium investments 66 days, for large investments 71 days. The general contractors have to wait most this year up to 75 days on average. A mason can work for 70 days, a tiler for 65 days. The minimum commitment period for water and gas fitters is 27 days, for building mechanics 33 days, and for electricians 40 days.

In response to one of the media’s questions Ms Veronica Squinzi said Q.: Despite the war in Ukrain, Mapei is not giving up on the Ukrainian market, where it has been already a distributor for many years. The company’s plans include the establishment of a production factory, but the armed conflict in the country delayed the investment. Mapei intends to participate as an active actor in the reconstruction of the country.

Last but not least, the representatives of the media were provided with thorough information covering many aspects of the Mapie pillars.

JÁVORI FEGYA’S MUSICAL FOR THE FIRST TIME IN BUDAPEST!
Friday, April 14, 7 p.m. and Friday, May 12, 7 p.m. @ RaM-ArT Theater – Budapest
Director: Gábor Miklós Kerényi KERO
Main actors: Tünde Frankó , P. Szilveszter Szabó & Máté Miklós Kerényi

The story begins somewhere where Fiddler on the Roof ends, and tells the story of Levi (Lőb) Strauss‘ adventurous life, career, and the birth of jeans.

The “Lévi Story!” musical inspired by the life of the denim king Levi Strauss and the American emigration wave. The “invention” of Levi’s trousers is brought to life under the direction of Gábor Miklós Kerényi and performed by stars actors. In the performance, beautiful melodies, heart-pumping rhythms, and heartfelt klezmer music captivate the audience. The story about the invention of blue jeans tells about exciting adventures, serious social problems and a beautiful love. The performance is a production of the Pesti Broadway Foundation.

The background of the creation of the production: Gábor Kerényi Miklós KERO – director of the play, has been planning to present the play for almost nine years. As said: Q.: “This production was not given the slogan ‘world success musical’ for nothing, as we couldn’t find a more well-known piece of clothing than jeans. I hope that the show will go abroad, to Israel and America.”

Kossuth Prize-winning composer Ferenc Jávori “Fegya” commented on the production told Q.: “The story is so strong that this performance could stand on any stage in the world.” He did not deviate from the musical style that has become the trademark of the Budapest Klezmer Band … the musical has country music, Munich beer songs, as well as to be modern musical.

The witty lyrics by Péter Sziámi Müller well-constructed story between spectacular sets and costumes evoke the market of a small German town, a street in New York, a terrifying boat trip near Cape Magellan, and a gold diggers’ tavern in the mountains around San Francisco.

The actors are supported by a dynamic singer-dancer ensemble, with the participation of a seven-piece, typical klezmer band.

Jean-Claude Carrière – Screenwriter who died last year – a former co-creator of Luis Buñuel, Milos Forman, Volker Schlöndorff – as an excellent connoisseur of Goya’s work, guides the audience through the unique work of the Spanish master. To solve the mystery of the genius of the period, he travels to Spain one last time and visits the sites related to Goya’s life and his most important works. His personality creates a close connection between the great personalities of cinematography, literature and music, who have one thing in common: Goya’s work was decisive for all of them.

In the film can join to travel Spain on Carrière’s side. Arrive to the Prado, then to Goya’s birthplace, a village in Aragon, to the La Cartuja apartment house near Zaragoza, which houses Goya’s frescoes; and nearly thirty additional locations where Goya’s significant works can be found. Standing in front of his paintings or flipping through the book containing his revolutionary engravings, Carrière makes pointed observations. He points to Goya’s effort to allow the poor, the imprisoned and the miserable to be seen. His eyesight, which was only strengthened by his deafness. For the Enlightenment’s rebellion against reason, which showed the stigmata of a mad world.

The documentary presented in the Classics section of Cannes 2022 combines three life paths with the visit of the doyen of French films, Jean-Claude Carrière to Spain: Carrière’s, Buñuel’s and Goya’s.

There will be a lot of entertainment on the square with Irish music and dancers, face painting, and a presentation of Gaelic games. There will be all sorts of temptations to refresh all visitors with food and drink discounts at the square. Those who have had been to a St. Patrick’s Day event already know the must-have: Irish music and dancing, a few pints of Guinness, some gigantic, spectacular puppets – an inexhaustible supply of everything Irish.

Don’t have to be Irish to come along and enjoy Saint Patrick’s Day happening to the colorful festival  at Budapest.

Keep in mind not to be missed!

A little bit of background to Saint Patrick … Despite his Irish notoriety, Saint Patrick was British. St. Patrick’s Day observes of the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. According to Irish legend, Saint Patrick used the shamrock  … a three leaf clover …  as a metaphor  to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish, when he was first introducing Christianity to Ireland.

One of the reasons to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day is because of Ireland’s nickname “The Emerald Isle” – Ireland itself is even known as the “Green Isle”.  St Patrick’s Day (Lá Fhéile Pádraig) is Ireland’s national holiday. The holiday has evolved into a celebration of Irish culture with parades, festivals, special foods, music, dancing, drinking and a whole lot of green.

Green has been worn to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day since the 1640s, going back to when St. Patrick himself explained religious idea. The tradition is tied to folklore that says wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns.
One of the lucky St. Patrick’s Day traditions in Ireland is to don the color green, as the hue symbolizes Ireland’s lush landscape. The Irish tricolor flag is meant to represent Ireland’s Catholic heritage and nationalism, while the orange represents the Protestant minority. The white between the two represents peace between Catholics and Protestants.

The founder of the Value and Quality Grand Prize Competition continued: „Q.”: “It is common knowledge that businesses do not only create financial value. Their development and innovation potential can therefore not only be evaluated from an economic point of view, but we must also recognize their social and community role. Quality certification with trademarks goes back more than a quarter of a century. The predecessor of the Value and Quality Grand Prix Certification Trademark, the Hungarian Product Grand Prix Certification Trademark, was launched in the spring of 1998. More and more people believe that regardless of the outcome of the war, fundamental changes will occur in the international economic and political system, many are already talking about the reversal of globalization. It is difficult to predict how profound all these changes will be, but it is certain that the capacity for self-sufficiency will be appreciated, and this is impossible without innovative domestic enterprises. Successful support programs must therefore be continued. The purpose of the Value and Quality Grand Prize Tender System is to recognize the high quality level of goods and services that qualify for the tender, to promote the production of goods of outstanding quality and high added intellectual value that are competitive on the international market, and to encourage the development of services. Miracle Rabbis & Jewish Cemetery at the Village of Mád.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Namely you may already know that the City of Tokaj gave its name to … The Wine of the Kings – The King of Wines. Here using century-old technology, the basis of which is the late harvesting of dried grapes and the subsequent special winemaking process. Even more special than assú is Tokaj essence (a.k.a. nectar or natural essence), which means a very thick juice that flows out and is captured under its own weight during the storage of assú grains.)

Here whereas the landscape of the River Tiszta meets the River Bodrog is the subland with its hills. The path leads for the way of themore of the Miracle Rabbis and Jewish Cemetery at the Village of Mád, whereas situated the miraculous Rabbi’s Grave a.k.a. respected place of pilgrimage is the still functioning synagogue. Pilgrims from all over the world come to a MÁD – Hungarian village to visit the tomb of the miracle rabbi. Tombstones from 200 to 300 years old can be found in the well-kept cemetery surrounded by a stone fence.

In the 16-17 century, Jewish families took over the distribution of wine from Greek merchants. They played a major role in the modernization of viticulture and wine production, and in the distribution of the kosher wines. In the rest of Hegyalja: the religious community was usually established in the 18th-19th century, and as it grew stronger, synagogues, baths, houses of worship, and schools were built – however, all of these were not revived after the Holocaust, and in many cases the buildings were not even saved, however, there are exceptions. In Tokaj, at the cost of a decade-long struggle, the synagogue, Tarcal, became a cultural center – retaining its character – by the new owner, who saved it, renovated it and made it open to the public as a gallery. In Bodrogkeresztúr, only the mass of the building remained, and it was at the service of nature conservation. At the same time, today the only functioning Jewish house of worship in Hegyalja can be found in Tokaj. At Bodrogkeresztúr each guard the graves of several well-known rabbis. The most famous is certainly the latter: at the top of Dereszla Hill, admirers – not only Hasidic – make a pilgrimage to the “ohel”– protected grave of “Reb Sájele”, or Rabbi Jesá Steiner, who is revered as a miracle rabbi. His former house, where they always cooked for fifty people so that no one left the rabbi hungry, is now open to pilgrims again.

Here are the graves of the religious community’s famous rabbis: Ábrahám Schwartz DPOB 1824-1883 – Mád, was one of the leading Hungarian rabbis of the 19th century. Wrote only one work titled Kol Aryeh, but it has influence on the rabbis of Hungary and religous foregniers. The Kol Aryeh synagogue in Mád is located in the heart of the village, in an easily accessible location. Mordeháj Winkler, who died in 1932 is also buried here. Pilgrims from all over the world come to a MÁD to the Hungarian village to visit the tomb of the miracle rabbi. To approach The Kol Aryeh synagogue in Mád is located in the heart of the village, in an easily accessible location.
