Cimbaliband = World Music spiced up with folk music – Veresegyház

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Distinguish guest and press individuals were invited to the  Cimbaliband’s latest CD and cassette “Recycle live show at the Katlan Toni Restaurant and Mill at Veresegyház. The band’s joyful music in every inch was a superb partying.  During the evening the flavors of Katlan Toni’s  kitchen delights surely wiggled all senses of men and women.

The Cimbaliband was founded in 2006, and in a wink burst into being the favorite within the young audience of their folk based world music.

The Cimbaliband plays a mixture of modern Eastern European folk music. Also their music sources stem from different sources: Hungarian folk music, classical music, jazz, Balkan folk music, jazz and rock’n’roll… so all-in-one they are a real “multi-culti” band. The members of the band is a mixture  of musicians … Serbian – accordion, Hungarian – violinist and vocals, bassist – Roma, jazz drummer – Croatia, Swabian-Hungarian – dulcimer and guitar and above all Dóra Danics,  former winner of Xfactor – Hungary -2013, the female voice that spice up the formation. Those energies that were and are previously only fo nd in rock music has also gain a place in the folk music.

The band over the past 10  years had held concerts throughout Hungary and also traveled abroad having great success in Europe. The band was traveling in many countries, play music together with Romanian, Spanish, Serbs, Italians and from playing music together with these musicians they brought influences as a small memorial and included in the form of their music.

The Cimbaliband is an authentically clunky clash of Hungary’s folk music in style of rocky-rock’n’roll.The magical Hungarian instrument, the dulcimer and wherever Balázs Unger step on stage playing on the dulcimer is mentioned as „Dulcimer of Chuck Berry”

The band presented several songs from their new CD and the audience took great pleasure hearing their latest music.

And on the bottom line the name … Katlan Toni’s kitchen is not only covering a man, but the restaurant’s whole team. This team cooks for nearly 20 years delicious dishes which are prepared just and only with domestic raw materials. Furthermore, all the soft drinks, home-made beer from the Fót brewery. Furthermore, paying great attention to serve the worthy famous Pálinka also made exclusively for the restaurant. So if wish to taste these delights have to spear time to visit the place, cause the drinks are only available on the spot. Oh and here is some snaps as an appetizer

Hearld News: … Those who have already heard the band’s music and  humming the songs and for those who have missed to see/hear them before, then on Sunday from 6 p.m. -7 p.m. December, 18, may catch up by visiting the City Hall Park – District, V., Károly Blvd. – Budapest.

The 2nd Furnace Gastronomic Festival – Kiskőrös – Hungary – 2016.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

A Full Day Tour at Kikőrös -2016.

Kiskőrös town is in the Great Plain –  Bács-Kiskun County. Just 134 kms. in distance from Budapest.  Sándor Petőfi – the Hungarian poet/writer was born here in January, 1823. Petofi worship life of the city, and the development of tourism is also a dominant. The birthplace of the poet and introducing his life and much more attracts tourists from far and wide.

Despite  the rainy and rather chilly day on 12th of November,  was ensured to be looking after at Kiskőrös, hosted  by József Szabó – director of the Matthias Pálinka – Kunság-Distilling Ltd, located at 35-37. Bánffy Street, Kiskőrös. This company’s products maybe not too much in the spotlight by the Hungarian travelers, not to mention the foreigners, so here we go with an update of visiting the plant and much more.  It is the largest active company in distilled alcoholic beverages. And neither not to mention they produce a kinda of Pálinka (spirit) that already hit the tops  by receving  diplomas, gold  medals and taken other award prizes here in Hungary and abroad at high stands in pálinka completions.

Upon arrival welcome drink was offered by our host as to choose, fill our glass with pálinka from the variety of  the Matthias Pálinka. Then came a brief introduction  the plant. Was told, the Matthias manufactory is a family run since 1994, and started production in 2013. It is one of the to-day’s biggest computer-controlled distillery in the country. The manufacture contains 4 modern alcoholic drink bottling production lines within 3 soft drink bottling production lines. Their production capacity reaching up to 200000 bottles/shifts. Now, that sounds enormous .. doesn’t it!? The company also operates an important facility for the cleaning of empties and contains 2 bottle cleaning devices. The selection of products contains various drinks, from lower quality to more expensive, exclusive products. Now-a-days they produce 74 different drinks in various size of bottles. They deliver the products throughout the entire country with their own proper transport vehicles. Last but not least said, they aim to extend their distribution network, to develop unique and high quality products and to locate export possibilities. After the introduction was escorted  on a tour through the factory around the distillery and it was nothing to compare with other distilleries have seen previously. The whole palinka production goes through computerize environment 24Hs. A very neet and well-organized company. From 2011 the Kunság-Pálinka (Spirits) Ltd received the certification as mark holder – title: “Excellent Food Product – Hungary“. The company produce Matthias Pálinka – up to 40% alcohol and as it was told they do not wish to raise the alcohol percentage,  because then  it  would take away its fruit typical flavor. The bitter Matthias liqueur within awesome favor of herbs … similar to the Jägermeister … BUT the fresh herbs are much more dominant, velvety and smooth. Also the plant’s highlights are the honey apricot liqueur, which in 2012 won in the category of “Outstanding Hungarian Product” award at the Austrian Iinternational Destilling competition.

After paying a visit at the distillery were invited to enjoy the hospitality of the Curt Pub and Restaurant & Music Night Club (Kurta Kocsma Étterem és Zenés Mulatóhely).  Just in a glance seen what a marvelously designed venue, which could easterly go in competition of any four stars restaurants in Budapest, that’s for sure! No wonder that it is one of Kiskörös most popular restaurants. Year around they have ongoing special parties and events. Talkative scent and each dish of food specialties of the restaurant was simply mouth-watering … no wonder cause most of the staff members previously worked on cruise lines and in London (UK) pubs and restaurants. Robbie was our waiter who spoke fluently English, but all the staff have other language knowledge beside the Hungarian. Thumbs-up to the owner of the place – surely managed to bring together the well-trained, professional staff.

After having a pleasant lunch  strolled over to visit to the Sir John Visitor Center at 6. Martini Street – Kiskőrös to view the interactive exhibition of John the Valiant (János Vitéz). Experienced the state-of-the-art technical solutions as moving around exhibition with the use of tablet guides and sound bell jars. Our journey was as walking through a „newwave” of informal education operating at Kiskőrös. Good example to turn learning into an experience, generating interest in culture and literature among younger children in an easy way.

Reaching to the end of our touring day stopped at the Petofi Square where the II. Furnace Gastronomic Festival took place.  The tradition is continued basis, thanks to last year’s success to local residents and neighboring towns, as well as tourists visiting the complex gastronomy and music programs provided. The craft exhibitors and from the nearby area of small local growers brought their products to the venue. The new wines tasting and must were not to be missed! despite the 4Q temperature, the visitors were gathering, rolling around various stands tasting/eating the Chimney Cake, pies with region’s taste, wines from the region, craft beer, mulled wine and other street food stand.  Before leaving the venue spent short time watching the local folk dance group as welcoming the Feast of St. Marton Day with the goose meals. At 6.30 p.m. began the concert time opening with the Groovehouse, followed by at 8 p.m. DJ Dominique and closing the night at 9 p.m. with a kind of house party to entertain the audience by the Brother Band.

“The Hungarian Honey = Gold Liquid!” – Honey Museum – Gödöllő – 2016.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

“The Hungarian Honey is pure as Gold Liquid!”

What title to give to the Hungarian Honey !?!

Stepping out from the Budapest area – Rolling over to the Honey Museum – Gödollő…

To-day at the Honey Museum held by “OMME”(Association of Hungarian beekeepers)  was in launching a campaign to promote the domestic consumption of locally made honey  by domestic producers and to raise awareness among buyers to only purchase honey with bottles having OMME seal, locking tape, stamp holograms. Having these sealed on the bottle indicate and ensure the honey is natural, reliable, high-quality of the Hungarian honey producers. So the campaign is to encourage customers to buy honey directly from domestic producers in uniform packing. Out on display were many tools and equipments in the past use to produce honey, as: hive tools, smoker titan, heated frame feeder, bee brush, uncapping forks, straited drinking-through stove, bee veil, uncapping knife and comb foundation cutter wheet.

It was said at the opening by the chief of OMME, Q: “ In our country there is the beekeeping tradition dating back to the age of the conquest. The beeswax in history payed a major economic and diplomatic role. Honey was significant export product by Hungarians in the Middle Ages In 1789 had its first independent European high agricultural educational institution. During the era of Maria Theresa had been patent by Legislative Decree on the protection of honey. The whole country terra and the entire Carpathian Basin is suitable for beekeeping. From spring to fall almost everywhere in Hungary is bee pollen and nectar. Currently, there are approximately 20 thousand people in our country keeping uterus and with an around of a total of 1.1 million bee families. In the average year we produce 25-30 thousand tons of honey …  half of it is “acacia honey”. The annual domestic consumption of honey is 70-80 ounces per person, unfortunately is less than the EU average … me the writer: 5-6 kgs. Following the presentation was introduced out on display many tools and equipments in use in the past to produce honey such as: hive tools, smoker titan, heated frame feeder, bee brush, forks, strained drinking-through stove, bee veil,  knife and comb foundation cutter wheat and so on.

After the presentations was invited to taste a couple of mouthwatering honey from the Hungarian beekeepers, such as: Acacia, Linden honey, Silk grass honey, Sunflower, Rapeseed honey, mixed flower honey, chestnut honey and also Zsofi Mautner shared a couple of her own recipes made with the use of honey, such as: exotic honey parfait with fruit salad, honey-spicy French bread, fruit salad with honey. On the spot tasting took place, the delicious spicy honey paste to chase away the flu and relief cough, which is a common thing now-a-days in Hungary.

The honey is unknown to produce allergy! What is less known by the public is that the local beekeepers’ honey has the anti-allergy effect. Eating continuously honey in a low quantity the body accustom to the allergen, so loses the allergic effects. The beekeepers locally grown honey is a weapon against allergies!

The honey was/is present in different religious culture to treat wounds, for example: … the slowly healing wounds, diabetes, ulcers. In Indonesia the most used “agent” in practise is healing wounds with the honey. In South America healing as veterinary medicine to treat pets wounds. Was also told that there was a horse in the case where a wolf bit off half its thigh bone. The horse was treated with regular medicine and no result after a week, then came the treatment with more than one kilogram of honey. The horse’s wounds began to heal slowly, miraculously, regenerating broken tissue and muscle. Many may know, the honey has an  interesting behavior in contact with human skin. It is no coincidence the saying of “Canaan flowing with milk and honey”. The Egyptian Pharaoh beautiful skin is believed to have had  been discover by the use of the honey. Old folks use inhouse-practise of honey in hair care and therefore not a coincidence that cosmetic companies advertise shampoo made of honey-using activities.
