Season of Advent @Várkert Bazaar – Budapest

The Advent program series of the Várkert Bazaar will be organized for the 9th time heard at the press gathering  were present were: Krisztina Sikota, Deputy General Director of Tourism, Culture and Communication of the Castle Administration, who spoke about the forthcoming season of Advent specialities of the Castle Bazaar and the Budavári Palace Quarter. The Várkert Bazaar will open its doors on the 26th of November, when several concerts will begin. Performers will entertain the visiting audience in different genres and ends on 23rd of December.

The series of Advent events of Várkert Bazar, begins on the 26th of November with the album launch concert of singer Kati Wolf with her latest band. She added will be professional dancers, full-blooded pop-rock, the spinning rhythm.  Within her new album she tried herself as a lyricist for the first time.  Her songs tell about her own feelings.

Marcsi Borbás talked about the outdoor, open-air exhibition at the end of November, with Xmas gastronomy, namely “Tales around the table”.  Also on the 9th and 12th of December, she will hold a  presentation on the festive foods typical of the Carpathian Basin and the customs associated with them in an unusual guided tour within hot drinks and festive delicacies await those walking in the renewed Budavári Palace District. On the first three Sundays of Advent, children and their parents can occupy and enjoy  themselves at free crafts  gatherings from 10 a.m.

The Bagossy Brothers Company from Transylvania,  awaits the audience with a double Advent concert on the first Sunday of Advent on the 3rd of December. On the 9th of December, special concert titled “Dance in the Snow”. The Kossuth Prize-winning performer, composer, poet Tamás Szarka explained their special concert will tune to the holiday Season.

Sena Dagadu, singer of Irie Maffia will give a festive concert entitled “This family” on the 16th of December, accompanied by brass bands and a gospel choir. After last year’s highly successful performances, this year a fantastic double concert will be on the 17th of December with the participation of popular artists such as Dóri Behumi, Juci Németh, Bori Rutkai, György Ferenczi, Frenk, András Keleti, László Kollár-Klemencz and Mező Misi.

Kristóf Gáncs, the deputy president director and communications director of the Ecumenical Relief Society, drew attention to their national Advent fundraising campaign.

Family programs will not be missing … during the first three Sundays of Advent, children and their parents can enjoy free crafts gatherings from 10 a.m. They can make the family’s Advent wreath together, as well as small gifts and decorations for the holidays.

The Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra this year, as foreign orchestra with a thousand faces will add color to the Advent program on stage on the 10th of December.

The Honvéd Men’s Band, will give a festive concert entitled “Dawn of Advent”, featuring unusual pieces of music and transcriptions from the Renaissance to the present day.

The Hungarian tradition of applied arts is revived at the Advent fair, which will be held in the hall of the Várkert Bazaar. During the first three weekends of Advent, contemporary applied art awaits all those who want to give a gift of real value.  Artistic works of popular designers and award-winning designers on the spot. It will be possible to meet the creators of the objects and learn about the material, style, and history of the works of art: Selected industrial artists will hold special workshops with the co-operation of the Rearticon Art Association. Open to the public on Saturday, December 2, and 9, and 16. from 2 p.m. On Sundays, December 3 and 10, and 17. from 10 a.m.

The “Apostrophe “ series of the Várkert Literature is waiting for the public with a special Xmas edition,  entitled  “Angel’s music – candlelight“, visitors can experience the anticipation together and hear stories related to Advent and  hear family recipes for the upcoming Season on the 12th of December. This time the literary guest Anna Juhász will be Marcsi Borbás and writer Olga Szederkényi.

Regarding  the Xmas and New Year’s customs in the 19th century,  discussion will be held in Hungarian on the 5th of December in the “Mysterious History” series. The host of the program Csaba Katona – historian, talks with Zoltán Fónagy – associate professor of ELTE (Eötvös Loránt University of Science).

… Continuing the BalatonBor event at Balatonalmádi …

The Gyukli Winery  – Balatonfüred wine tasting went on with wines, the Bio Hibernal wine, which is the equivalent of Sauvignon Blanc, and the Bio Solaris wine which had a slightly sweet effect and was simply the best in tasting. Had a sip of Grandioso Kékfrankos -Merlot Cuvee and was told these grapes are ripened on mediterranean slopes then carefully selected and harvested by hand. This wine is elegant, it has a full texture on the palate followed by spicy characters along with silky tannins and a long, smooth, balanced finish, contains sulfites.

Zsolt owner of the Söptei Winery  – Balatonfüred-Csopaki Historic Wine Region, spoke about his winery and wines saying, thanks to the unique features of the deep-layered clayey loess soil with limestone debris and the sub-Mediterranean climate, their winery producing rich, full-bodied wines. The Lendület 2019 wine is not only beating heart of their wine region, but felt that feeling by tasting with its fresh, fruity varietal character, a substantial wine. Winery segments: Italian Riesling. Dry, white, protected designation of origin wine.  Year-after-year their wines received countless recognitions at the world’s most prestigious and longest-standing wine certification event – the Bordeaux Challenge International du Vin international wine competition, namely the “Hangulat”, a dry yellow muscat, won a gold medal in 2021, and the “Varázlat” 2018, also won a gold medal in 2020 the Italian Riesling. The chronicle of their outstanding results in France goes back more than a decade, when received their first award in Bordeaux in 2010. Of course, their wines received numerous professional recognitions Hungary. They run the winery branch and a cozy family restaurant in Csopak.

The Androsics Estate – Balatonőszöd, were very poular within the tasting visitors. Was told the reductive wines made with the most modern technology.  Their wine houses hold a 250 square meter wooden barrel cellar where long-aged wines can rest. On the spot fantaistic estate’s wines were to be taste such as: Androsics Muscat Ottonel, Pinot Noir-Merlot, Androsics Királyelányka, Androsics, Androsics Italian Riesling, Androsics Pinot Gris. An extra thought to Androsics wines … world of overwhelming taste that can be described.

The Tagyon 730 – Targyon,  The winemaker himself presented tasting with the exhibited wines such as: Rieslingszylvani, Dry, Gray, friendly, Italian Riesling. The Tagyon Estate‘s 4 hectares of vineyards are all located on  the foot of Tagyon Mountain, so the vines absorb valuable nutrients from the same soil, guaranteeing constant quality which is based on the harvested grape crop. The wine producer  goal is to make sure that the valuable substances found in the grapes get into the must and wine, and happy to say are also found in it.

The Pócz Winery  – Balatonlelle,  wines were not new in tasting table.  Pócz brought to the scene to taste eight different wines, which meant to have an insight into almost the entire range of this cellar. At Kishegyen – Balatonlelle cellar  may see and taste his white wine grape varieties: Olivér Irsai, Rizlingssilváni, Zenit, Ottonel Muskotály, Yellow Muskotály, Sürkebarát, Tramini, Királylényka, Zöldveltelini, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rhine Riesling, Italian Riesling. Red wine grape varieties: Portugieser, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Kékfrankos. Nowonder everyone found their wine close to them.  Many may know that the grape and wine production in Somogy County has a thousand-year-old tradition. The former masters of Pannonia, the Romans, spread viticulture, as evidenced by archaeological findings. After the conquest, as early as the 11th century, found records related to grapes on this area.

From the Káli-basin – The “Kénytelen Chardonnay” – 2022 serially numbered wine was presented to the delightful audience for the tasting and cellar’s champagne was highly appreciated. Their wines are carefully selected ingredients, fermented and matured in a single barrel in numbered bottles without fining, puncturing or sulphurizing.

Beside the BalatonBor walking wine tasting took place master class presentations were held,  by a master class  Historian Dr. Emőke Kovács  when interesting facts, storytelling was heard about history of Balaton gastronomy and winemaking.  Dr. Péter Bodor-Pesti introduced the audience to the secrets and possibilities of vineyard selection. The winemaker Zsolt Söptei argued in favor of the mature ingredients and the low use of sulphur, which ensure that the wine not ending up with a “headache”. Based on his German and domestic experience, Krisztián Gyukli explained the labor-intensive and decades-long process of grape breeding. In the closing part of the course, Attila Geönczeöl brought 3 examples of his winesfrom the Highlands.

The representatives of the wineries went from table-to-table to “neighbor”  tasting each other’s wine of the new vintages.

The implementation of the project was supported by the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture program.

Budapest Ballet Grand Prix – 2023.

The organizers of the Budapest Ballet Grand Prix held a joint press conference on Tuesday, October, 24 at the Hungarian University of Dance, whereas was present the members of the organisors: Erika Miklósa, opera singer awarded with the Order of St. Stephen of Hungary, winner of the Kossuth and Ferenc Liszt Prizes, president of the board of trustees of the MOL-New Europe Foundation, Márta Fodorné Molnár, rector of the Hungarian Academy of Dance, Tamás Nagy, competition director of the Budapest Ballet Grand Prix. János Kiss, Kossuth Prize-winning ballet artist, chairman of the board of trustees of the foundation that maintains the university said … From the very beginning, the organisers’ aim was to hold an event, organised by the Hungarian Dance University Institution with behind them of 75-year history. Having said, it means a real meeting point for the dance arts in Europe and worldwide. Seeing the interest shown for the competition, this can be achieved. Continued … The main goal is to discover search for talent/talent development main motivation. Future ballet artists must be set an example. Budapest Ballet Grand Prix will be a high-quality international ballet competition. Yesterday the number participating nation’s was 22, but today just before the press conference applied a balett dancer from South America/Paraguay which increased the number now a total of 23rd nations whom will represent themselves at the competition. Participating dancers from all corner of the Earth such as: Brazil, Canada, Australia, Ukraine, USA, Finland, Korea, China, Russia. Erika Miklósa – Kossuth-Awarded coloratura soprano decorated with the Order of Szent István Magyar – opera singer. wholeheartly supports this coming event and added the aim of the competition is to discover, support and help the careers of highly talented balett dancers. Opera singer is president of the main sponsor Mol-Új Európa Foundation and as its priority, the foundation support treats talent management. Mentioned and later saw the two dancers on the spot, saying: many ballet artists spread their wings such Janka Dobra and Kamili Kökény-Hámori, who are now graduated classical balett dancers and the pair just received a contract offer from the Hungarian Opera House. The audience can also see them at the Budapest Ballet Grand Prix Gala event. Márta Molnár Fodorné – university professor – rector of the Hungarian Academy of Dance, highlighted the possibilities of the event, including scholarship offers, even possibilities for contract, offers, workshops. During the event the dancers may watch, learn, exchanged experiences from one-an-other. Last but not least she is proud to say, that not only the diversity of the training is outstanding, but also the quality of the education. At this event can learn from eachother methodologies from the participating international ballet actors. The Budapest Ballet Grand Prix will be held between November 20-24, 2023, in order to popularize Hungarian ballet and dance art. The Budapest Ballet Grand Prix with Hungarian and international ballet competitors will be held for the first time. In addition to the Hungarian Academy of Dance, the event will be hosted by the National Dance Theater Institution – whereas the competition qualifing rounds and preliminary will be hosted. The Gala – Palace of Arts (Müpa) whereas the finalist and selected dancers will preform in Hungary’s modern cultural institution.
The grand event not only the dancers will represent world-class quality, but the jury as well. Also the sponsors were highlighted metioning the main sponsor such: MOL-New Europe Foundation and the Grand Tokaj Wine a.k.a. “The King of Wines” from Tolcsva whose wines we could taste on the spot servered along with the brunchy tastes. Likewise were announced many other distinguished sponsors.

Not only the dancers will represent world-class quality, but the jury as well whom are composed of internationally recognized dancers, choreographers and ensemble leaders of the dance world distinguished and internationally renowned artists: Former principal dancer of the Stuttgart Ballet and Artistic Director of the Korean National Ballet choreographers and ensemble leaders of the dance world will be chaired by South Korean Suejin Kang, former principal dancer of the Stuttgart Ballet and Artistic Director of the Korean National Ballet. The Budapest Ballet Grand Prix is for exceptionally talented young dancers from all over the world in the age group of 15-24 who consider dance as their career in various age groups. Competitors from professional schools and ensembles can show their skills in classical ballet and modern dance categories, solo and pas de deux, in three age groups. Category I (junior A) – 15-17 year olds, II. category (junior B) – 17-19 year olds, III. category (senior A) – 19-24 year old.

The Pannónia Entertainment will bring the global mania to Hungary with “The Eras Tour” concert film  shown nationwide without subtitles for a limited time in selected cinemas from November, 3. 2023.

Taylor Swift’s one of its August stops at “The Eras Tour” was made into a concert film intended for cinemas.

American Concert in Color – 2023, 168 mins. – Age limit: 12 – Director: Sam Wrench

What in 2023 was the Barbenheimer phenomenon on the film front, became Taylor Swift in the music sphere. Millions of fans around the world started raving about The Eras Tour on social media, generating an almost incomprehensible level of hype around the singer’s tour this year. Of course, the “Swifties” know and voice exactly why this is so special, i.e. why so much so that such a pop culture phenomenon emerges from the concert series as it has become. They don’t need to present the details, they are mainly targeted by the cinema opportunity, but it was almost inevitable for everyone else too not to run into Taylor Swift at least once this year on social media. But still, what exactly is this madness?

The Eras Tour biggest concert tour of Taylor’s career, covering 146 performances on 5 continents from March this year to next November, all held in different stadiums. Of course, the title suggests that he commemorates all the eras and albums of his career so far – crammed into a little more than 3 hours, 44 songs in 10 acts, each of which symbolizes 1 record. The concert film is somewhat cut, but still documents the three performances in early August, which Swift held at SoFi Stadium, built on the site of the former horse racing track, in Inglewood, Los Angeles, at the site of last year’s Super Bowl. In addition to fans, the spectacular show was enjoyed by critics as well, sales predict an opening day revenue of $37 million for the North American cinema premiere in mid-October. The director is Sam Wrench, who previously also conducted Billie Eilish’s O2 concert, which domestic viewers could also see on the big screen by Pannónia Entertainment.

The creation of the film is a fantastic story in itself, because originally, although negotiations were held with all major Hollywood studios, during the writer’s and actor’s strike, they refused the request, so Swift took control as a producer and bypassed the studio system, working directly with cinema networks and independent of the strike. he started pitching to film distributors until he was successful. The importance of its influence can also be deduced from the fact that, after the negotiations were completed, the premiere was set, several of the films close to it were given new dates. They actually ran away from him!

Along with the tour, the releases of extended and re-released albums, as well as new music videos, continued to come. As a producer, Swift also had a say in the editing of the film, essentially overseeing which songs were included, so in addition to her personal favorites, fans’ favorites will surely be part of the playtime. David Beckham arrived @ Budapest!

You won’t meet him on the streets of Budapest … But … No need to worry you can be sure he will showup @ Madame Tussand’s Wax Museum!

David Beckham name … the worlds most famous athlets, fashion icons and media stars is probably hardly by anyone who has not heard of him or seen him playing at one of his footy match.

Beckham’s wax figure was borrowed from the Prague Madame Tussaud’s exhibition. He will be staying in Budapest for cca. 2 months so was told during the welcoming presentation at the Hungarian Madame Tussaud’s Museum – Palazzo Dorottya Street – Budapest. Also it was said that from time-to-time beside having 51 permanent figures, exclusive guests just as recently, the wax figure of the world fastest sprinter Usain Bolt, spent a few months here with the other celebrities .

Beckham’s skin is covered with more than 60 tattoos, which have special meanings. His first tattoo was Brooklyn – his son’s name, but his body features his favorit number 7, which was his jersey number, Chinese, Hebrew and Hindi characters, and the number 99, which refers to his marriage.
During the production of the figure of David Beckham, personally met the staff of Madame Tussauds, who had the opportunity to measure the world star’s body from head-to-toe. Thousands of biological data were recorded, from bone size to body weight to the athlete’s facial features. Last but not least … mind you … you can inhale David Backham’s cologne by getting close enough to him.

Of course, you can meet several famous Hungarian and International celebrities in Budapest at the Hungarian Madame Tussauds Wax Museum.

154th Anniversary of Gandhi Jayanti Birth @ Budapest

The Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Center, the Embassy of India and the Hopp Ferenc Asian Art Museum welcome you to the 154th anniversary of Gandhi Jayanti’s birth in the garden of the Hopp Ferenc Asian Art Museum in Budapest. The outstanding deeds of Mahatma Gandhi can be found in the garden of the building that houses the Ferenc Hopp Museum of East Asian Art. This is the only statue of this size in Hungary. A bust of Gandhi stands on a ledge protruding from the rectangular thin concrete plinth. Politician Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was the political and spiritual leader of India and the leading figure of the Indian independence movement. The bust was presented to Hungary by the State of India on the centenary of Gandhi’s birth. India state presented a number of countries Hungary among them with the a bust of Gandhi, the original was made by Ram V. Surar (1925). This one in the museum’s garden was placed October, 1971. by Indian sculptor Ram Vanji Sutar.
The commemoration ceremony to Mahatma Gandhi’s 154th birth anniversary celebrated speech by Dr. Mukesh Kumar Srivastava – Director of the Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Center. Who the following: Across India Mahatma Gandh is known for his contributions to India’s independence movement. Mahatma Gandhi, widely known as the Father of the Nation who dedicated his life to India’s independence movement and his philosophies towards life. Struggle for freedom and advocate the path of truth and non-violence. The United Nations General Assembly designated October 2 as International Day of Non-Violence to honor Gandhi’s principles.

From the side of the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asian Art director Györgyi Fajcsák introducted the photo exhibition related to Gandhi. These pictures were taken of Mahatma Gandhi prominent events.

At the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asian Art on the occasion of the 154th anniversary of his birth the visitors layed a wreath on the Gandhi statue, thereafter a short musical show took place. At the end of the stage program, and the event ended with a taste of Indian cuisine.

Félix Viscarret’s film from the film crop of the Iberian Peninsula will be out at the cinemas from October, 12. 2023. – 107 minutes

The Spanish-Belgian co-production is an adaptation of the book by Juan José Milás, the process of which the director himself was responsible for, since he worked as a co-writer on the screenplay.

Summary: Damián (Paco León) loses his job after 20 years. Upon hearing the news of his dismissal, he angrily leaves his boss and decides to withdraw from the world at the first possible hiding place that comes his way. Spotting a wardrobe lying on a van, he finds what he considers to be the ideal opportunity for his goal, but the car starts to travel. The wardrobe arrives at the home of Lucía (Leonor Watling) and Fede (Álex Brendemühl), with Damián inside, who is lying down waiting for the furniture to be placed. Our hero then becomes a part of the life of the married couple and their teenage daughter, María (María Romanillos), who is roughly the same age as him, because that very night he formulates the idea that he will stay with them as a mysterious phenomenon moving in the shadows. But with what intention he does all this, it will only become clear with time: will he become a guardian angel or a scary, demonic figure while maintaining the mystery?

This thriller-drama mix mixes the basic situation of The Living with Charlie Kauffman’s surrealism.
