ROLLING FROM BUDAPEST TO ZÁNKA – TO EXPLORE PRINCE FOREST “HERCEGERDŐ”

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

On a cold November morning the invited folks from the press and media gathered at the parking area of the Budapest’s WWF Office take part on a tour to discover Hercegerdő.   On our way our hosts were from the WWF: Ms. Alexa Antal, Media and Brand maganer and  representing the  protection of forests Mr. László Gálhidy. The distance from Budapest was 140 kms.  Even though  the temperature was  close to the freezing point, the warmth of the shining sun through the glass windows made the route pretty pleasant and the WWF’s hosts were excellently prepared to pass us on our way the press meterials. So we were heading to the uplands of Lake Balaton beside Zánka. The purpose of our invitation was to be present at the “official opening” of a private forest area. First we arrived to Zánka, where Mr. Gábor Figeczky, WWF Director in charge and residents welcomed us. After a short greeting  words we altogether headed to the local elementary school to pick up a class of age 11 yrs. old students and their teachers to join us up to the Prince Forest “Hercegerdő” Arriving by bus to the edge of the road that led up to the forest we continued our tour by foot. During our steps we had to watch out on the sloppy route covered with  fallen leaves. The local  forester  owners introduced us the previously unknow, unique shapes of  mushrooms.  On our way we discovered interesting green color, shape balls, “the forbidden fruit” on heavy weight  holding trees! Heading up the highland the silence of the sleeping nature and the view of the proudly standing tall trees really caught our  attention. Only one bird wished to great us on this cold day by singing for a while. As we reach the “border-line” of the forest, a teacher stood beside a tree and showed the class how to carry out the staking, marking a visible sign on the tree. Following the first run the students  also joined in marking the trees. Of course while being up their they weren’t able to mark all of them. The class will continue the staking in the future to come.

After  spending long hours in the woods it was good to head to warm up ourselves. The bus picked us up and drove to a restaurant named “Theodora“  close to Hercegerdő. The hospitality and the fine “gulyás soup” was like being in heaven. Fantastic taste. The kids and teachers, forest owners also joined us for a late afternoon lunch. The place is a family owned restaurant. The owner also has a small vineyard field. He invited us for wine tasting.  Mr. Zoltán Varga, the story-teller, owner of the Lidia Wine House “Lidia Borház”. told us that his vineyard belonged to his grandparents and as in producing wine. He named his wine house as a memorial to his grandmother Lidia. The label on the bottle shows an old photo of his grandparents, dress in to style in the beginning of the 20th century. Each new types of wine he  bottles are named  after one of the family’s members.  The qualified dry red-wine named  Tihanyi Kékfrankos is from the vineyard area of Balatonfüred – Chopak. This area is not really a red wine-country area, yet it tasted purely fresh and remarkable. Mr. Zoltán Varga told us he and his son will be at Budapest forthcoming New Wine and hand-made cheese Festival at the end of November, at the Budapest’s City Park “Városliget”.   So, if your around during this time be sure to look for his stand and taste a snip of the wines for yourself. While tasting, everyone will feel the breeze of the Lake Balaton, the grapes sweetness  from the warmth of  the sun.

A few thoughts to assume the private owned Hercegerdő  “ Prince forrest”

The local owner of the Hercegerdő “Prince Forrest”  contacted the WWF to ask for professional support in their  conservation of the forest. The WWF was pleased to be involved and  back up them in assisting their efforts. As the WWF director said, this was a unique private initiative and in favor to tend to the success of this enterprise.

Hercegerdő, is a forest area in the uplands of Lake Balaton beside Zánka. Lays beyond the pale of settlements. Here in Hungary this is the one-and-only forest area that belongs to a fellowship of a dozen private former foresters. They wished to give back the forest to the “natureland”. They joined together to protect and to show for the coming generations the species in the state of nature and  hopefully carry on the mission by the forthcoming  generation to protect, keep unharmed the environment of this forest. The territory is free of any sylviculture.  The total size of the forest area is 160 hectare and the reservation stands of 8 hectare, it is 0.02% of the whole territory of Hungary. It is the size of 16 football fields. Not a large area, but keeping in mind as being the one and only private forest environment it is a remarkable measure. On this huge range of forest spices of durmast-oak groves, moss-capped oak, field maple tress, blooming ask tress, service-tress can be seen. Only in an environment of unperturbed nature can be a preserved forest like this. Also important to give a chance to the living nature, the local plants, animals and mushrooms a peaceful environment to be able to survive. The song-birds, the bats, the rare evergreens, forest, native species can be all seen at this area.

The life of unique mushrooms can only be assured if the dead trees remain in this nature field. The  foresters discovered two new species of mushrooms that where previously unknown in Hungary. They grow on the body of these dead trees and other elements. In the field of animals: the hind, the deers the boars, the pheasants, the foxes, the partridges, the quails also need the protection in the forest reservation.

It was a fine and  fruitful discover day organized by the WWF  and the local foresters to  get acquainted of an unknown environment taken under shelter.

Yes, I think this enterprise is like the first sparrow to arrive, hopefully there will be more flying in (spring into existence) to have more „natureland” around us here in Hungary.

Hungary has delicious, rich in flavors and varied food traditions.  The Hungarian cuisines have at least 15 hundred years of tradition. Of course, as in many countries along the winding road of history, the local food had many influences. Just driving back to the times of  the nomadic ways of the Magyars, the invasions of the Turkish Ottoman Empire and throughout the Habsburgs of Austria all left their influences in the Hungarian fests.

No matter where you come from, many of us remember the taste of a home-made food. It might take you back in time when all the ingredients were out to be picked from the backyard garden.

Now here is the  chance to check Hungarian soups, poultry, fish, Hungarian bacon that has a characteristic smoky taste, dumplings “csipetke”, Hungarian plum dumpling “szilvásgomboc”, Hungarian fresh sausage “házi kolbász”, apple strudel “almás rétes”, pancakes, vegetables, salads, breads, desserts, cakes, pies, cookies and candy from more than 100 small producers  and  farmers  and that’s not all!  You will be surprised to see the grand variety of the “body” taste wines that are not all commonly known outside of Hungary. The beers are going through a “reincarnation” world!  Beside the basic Hungarian produced beers there will be also on your mark to taste the home-made beers like the millet beers, wild cherry beer etc. Oh and of course cannot be missed the wide collection of booze, the fruity Pálinkas and the “warmer-up”, the mulled wine.

So go on and a little taste here, a little taste there will surely make you enjoy your stay.

Some food your eyes will meet and hopefully you won’t miss to try them, like the Hungarian soups that are remarkable (in Hungary, a dinner isn’t dinner, if soup isn’t served), pastries, traditional stuffed cabbage and meat dishes. You’re not a real gourmand unless you’ve sampled cuisine from over  19 regions of Hungary.  During the three days Market,  home-made countryside flavors from our neighbours of the former Hungarian territories: Transylvania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Serbia will brung along their own tastes. Definitely worthwhile to stop at their stand and have a taste.

You can also buy from the great collection of splices and  ingredients you need to cook your own tasty gyulyás soup that will warm you up during these cold and early dark days.

During these 3 days Food Fest, hand-made crafts, art and decorations can be  purchased  for yourself or as gift to your love ones at the forthcoming holiday.

I bet this coming event will surely remind you of your stay in Hungary.

“Only those who know internal peace can give it to others” (Lao Tzu)

Bella’s first reaction to the press was to express her thanks to all that had confidence in her songs and music that led her CD  to become a golden record!

Bagdi Bella held a dream that came true when she received a call from the Hungarian Record Association “MAHASZ ” that her “A GOOD WORD” CD became a golden record. As she put it: “This was very unusual, because it even wasn’t out on the  market when the number of sales grew so high as to reach the title to be a golden record.

Bella’s own words below are the most expressive way to pass her thoughts and as to introduce her new CD.

“Often we have the experience that our lives are overflowing in chaos, is in despair and we are confused. One Good Word is what we all need to be able to climb out of our “hole”  and pull on to our dusty road again” She continued by saying: “These songs came alive from my experience. I recognized and was able to feel what really is important for me and will take me forward. The songs have a special healing touch that can actually make a difference in our daily activities. From the bottom of my heart I wish you all within my songs to give a helping hand to feel your worthy, to be capable, to humanize, to cure yourself and to realize it is worthwhile to give yourself a chance, a good word in a world where the sun doesn’t shine everyday”. During the forthcoming  concert of she will be joined by Zoltán Kovács, Szabolcs Cseke, Barna Keresztes her instrumentalist partners, who played a part of their mutual concert for us.

MENTAL FOCUS PROGRAM – DARE TO BELIEVE – POSITIVE PROOF RIGHT INFRONT OF YOUR EYES.

When all comes to all: You create and shape your life with your thoughts. All things that become a part of  your physical reality are first created in the mind.  We all create our own thoughts whether they are ups or downs. Nothing happens outside of you whether they are positive or negative prints of your thoughts.  So lets stay at the positive side of the street with the use of the MENTAL FOCUS CD.

Your life will get better and better when you flash your mind through being in front of your computer to pick for yourself those areas that you have the desire to step beyond and forward. The Mental Focus CD contains anonymous information, developed by IT specialist, Tamás Diósy. For  additional information see: www.mentalfocus.hu.  (In a short time the program will be edited in English and Romanian language). It is a program that can be quickly and easily uploaded to your computer by the use of Windows7, Vista, XP versions. You can select the timing, of how long you wish the thought to appear on the screen and the number of  flashes in a certain subject. Also select the topics (images) that you wish  to run on the monitor as to stronger your mental focus for the day or for the following days.

It works even though you may not believe in it. Worthwhile to give a try!

VOTING TO HUNGARY’S BEST HOME-MADE TASTE FOOD

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Was invited to a show of “tasteland” organized for the press and media folks to support with our voting  by our own choice of  Hungary’s  number one home-made food. The voting has been ongoing during the past weeks at small demo stands throughout  the  nation. The  final winner will be  heard on the 19th of November at the Millenáris, during the event of the 2nd Home-made Hungarian Food Market.  We were hosted by the Amárium  Bristro, the Hungarorum a land  of the world of gastronomy adventures. The Bistro is simply furnished, yet comfy where you feel you are sitting at home with your friends. A real friendly scenario, with  the country-side  home-made spices and ingredients decorating  the whole place. Sándor Kerekes, the chef’s hands are full all the time, no time for leisure. His name might ring the bell, as he was the one who produced the Nation’s hot sausage „Országkolbász” at the Buda hilly side in the Mathew’ Castle area, during the Pálinka and hot sausage festival of this year.

Before each and every tasting Kerekes, the chef told the invited guests what they are about to taste.  He surely played with his ideas of ingredients that you couldn’t imagen would go together. We were honoured to be the guest of these unique  delicious tasty fests of that evening.  Mr.Kerekes remade the Nation’s hot sausage again by two volunteers assisting at a table set for filling sausages and the guests could follow each step on the way to the final production. He is a real artist in the kitchen. His  food designs and marvellous selection of unique ingredients were something that you just cannot find in any restaurants.  The specialities brought our attention by the fancy cakes of Gábor Rácz, the confectioner. These two men in discovering unbelievable ideas in the world of gastronomy are virtuoso in their profession.

Of course the invited guest couldn’t have left without non tasting the superb art and tasty work of the splendid hosts!

One of my favorites was the Nation’s hot sausage (made at the spot, see the snaps) with millet bread  and for the dipping the apricot mustard.

The gourmand fest wouldn’t have had been complete without the „liquid food.  András Szilágyi, the brewer made sure not to  be too thirsty to fill your glass making sure your glass isn’t empty. His millet beer (5% alcohol) was the cream on the top of the cake: semi dark and  lager beer was pretty popular.  I am not too fond of beers, yet the semi dark millet beer hit the charts for me. So, if you like beer that is quite, out of common you will have to taste it, very smooth and tasty. András Szilágyi too can be traced with his beer stand shortly at the forthcoming 2nd Home-made Hungarian Food Market between November, 18-20. at the Millenáris Park, Building “B”.

Hope to see you at both places 🙂

ROLLING THROUGH MEMORY as HISTORY and HISTORY as MEMORY

THE REPRESENTATION OF HOLOCAUST IN FINE ARTS

The 3 days conference were held  between November, 7 -9, in Budapest at the Műcsarnok’s conference room and the Israeli Culture Institute.

The curator of the Conference was Alexandra Reininhaus – Austrian cultural journalist.

In 2010, the French Institute of Budapest initiated a cycle of events about the representation of the Holocaust in fiction. Last year was dedicated to fiction films. The 2011 year deals with  the symposium  of Fine Arts. It aims to study the evolution  between the  1st attempts of the 60’s and the contemporary productions through various techniques of remembrance and trauma treatment, more precisely to capture the difficulty of expressing the inexpressible.

During the 3 days  conference, lectures, artists and experts from several countries developed their topic. The conference had simultaneous translations in Hungarian, French and German languages. Among the presentations Prof. Ziva Amisai Maiszles – Department of Art History at the Hebrew University, Israel, Dr. Batia Brutin – Head at the Holocaust  Studies Program at he Beit Berl Academic College, Israel and Aviner bar  Hama – Artist and a lecturer at the Talpiot College, Israel

Prof. Ziva Amisai Maiszles held her presentation about “The development of reactions to the Holocaust by German and Israeli artist.”

Dr. Batia Brutin spoke about “The visible and concealed responses to the Holocaust in the art of Israeli “second generation” artists.”

Aviner bar  Hama gave a lecture on ” All generations should consider themselves as Holocaust survivors.”

The first words counts a lot at an opening and these were the following by  Prof. Ziva Amisai Maiszles: ” For the Israelis, the memory of the Holocaust is often more than just a theoretical issue, for us it is a personal story of a relative, a friend or of a neighbor from upstairs”. So it is no wonder than that this collective memory influenced also many in the art.

The works of the  below artist can be seen through the side-show:

On the German side: Otto Dix, John Heartfield, George Grosz, GeorgBasekitz, Marcus Lupertz, Sigmar Polke.

On the Israeli side: Jakob Steinhardt, Mordecai Ardon, Marcel Janco, Avigdor Arikha, Samuel Bak, Ygael Tumerkin, Moshe Gershuni, Yocheved Weinfeld.

The lecture included the comparison of the approaches to the Holocaust of the Israeli Haim Maor, Daniel Liebeskind and the German Anselm Kiefer, Micha Ullman.

Needless to add anymore words, the photographs of the paintings tells a lot of the greatest slaughter of mankind, they speak for themselves.

ROLL OVER TO THE UPCOMING EXHIBITION OF “COLLECT BRAZILIAN JEWELRY”

BRAZILIAN JEWELRIES AT YOUR  FINGERTIPS

November, 11 – 26. 2011.

 8. József Nádor Square – Budapest

From Tuesday to Sunday –  11a.m. – 7p.m.

The exhibition will be opened by:

Sergio Ediardo Moreira Lima,
Brazilian Embassor to Hungary

Greeting the guests:

Balázs Péter Kovács, Munkásy Prize-winning artist

This time, save time and money to roll over to Brazil to view these jewelries, cause they are coming  here to Budapest.  Twelve popular Brazilian  goldsmith’s jewelries will be out on display.

Here are some background thoughts by the  arists they  wish to share with you in advance:

Adeguimar Arantes “My history with Jewelry began at childhood, in the workshop of my father, a talented and a sightful man who taught me that happiness lies in the simplicity and made me realize the world around me: the backyard, Cerrado de Goiás with its herbs which are able scent and heal, its fruits, animals and all the richness of the eco system. Here, I developed the art of jewelry making, a passion that has accompanied me since then. Each piece that leaves my studio, which already has a history of 26 years, is produced individually, although imbued with local cultura, and displays universal language. Among the many collections, “Além das Águas” has a special place, as its starting point is the iconography of Caldas Novas, in honor for the centennial of the city where I have chosen to live.”

Bruna Bert “Since very young I discoverd my taste for Jewelry. However, only after getting married did I start exploring this talent. At first, I spent my time selling them but I didn’t feel complete, I used to think I could get more involved and participate in the production, put my ideas through and feel my presence more effectively in apiece of Jewelry. I took many courses in São Paulo, both Design and Jewelry ones, in which I gained enough know-how to make my dreams come true and put my projects into practice, having already launched my own collection. My concept about jewelry is broad, I see it not only as an accessory, it is about personality, people’s souls, being able to transform the self-steem of those who wear the ideal piece.”

Claudia Coral I’m graduated in Publicity from FAAP and a successful businesswoman in the promotional area for more than fifteen years. Mad about arts, design, diamonds and precious stones, I started making my own pieces as a hobby, which are now my love. I have improved myself as a jewelry designer through design courses at Escola Panamericana de Artes, having my daily life and everything that is beautiful as my inspiration.”

Cristiane Azevedo “Graduated in Industrial Design, I have worked with Jewelry for 13 year sand three years ago Icreated Gharimpeira, a company focused on promoting and diffusing the Brazilian Jewelry Design. Creating the collection presented here, taking these 3D forms from sketches and projecting them into metal was challenging. Jewelry is a cultural and artistic manifest for me since the begining of humanity, ornaments, signs, synchronized with men and their universe, a connection between the desirable and the real.”

Dorine Botana “My work has always been developed through gems. They are the source of inspiration to the pieces I create, which are never part
of a predefined project, they are inconstant change until they reach a  satisfactory result. At this moment in which we are trying to preserve nature
the most, I have decided to turn myself to the always exotic and unusual raw stones; beautiful, delicate, exclusive…selected by the imagination eyes that never see the real but the transformation, which always surprises me with new images as real nature sculptures, and after being worked with precious metal end up in unique and noble pieces … JEWELS in the real conception.”

Glenio de Castro “My missions is to ‘Illuminate the Women’. Through a little magic trick which transmits brightness, enchantment and power, a piece of jewelry becomes our greatest source of steam and value. For this reason I have become a jewelry designer whose design displays a harmonious combination between metal and gems, resulted from a studied balance between classic and contemporary, materializing in exclusive pieces, though extremely up-to-date. I had my pieces exhibited at the Louvre Museum, a great acknowledgement of my talent.”

Julia Dorneles “I develop an authorial work of sculpture within the Jewelry. My creation is inspired by the exuberant and intriguing nature, in constant change. I create pieces to be worn by contemporary, daring, versatile and sophisticated women with a lot of kindness. I use stones and Diamonds to color and add brightness to the pieces. All of them are exclusive.”

Laura Moure “Shapes, color sand textures fascinate me, and it’s through the art that I feel freedom to express myself. I’m a graduated in fashion design, and I had my first contact with jewelry when I was still in college. There’s always a mystery during the creation process of my jewels, since the first scribbles to their conclusion. My goal is to discover unusual and unconventional shapes to transform gold and silver in exclusive pieces, adding the beauty and color of the stones, may those be raw or lapidated. I’m always thinking about the small details do every creation is unique. Seeing the final result is always a satisfaction. My jewelry mixes the geometric shapes with movement and rhythm, resulting in a very contemporary work. I believe that each jewel is able to seal moments and translate the personality of those who wear it.”

Maria Antonelle “A piece of jewelry imortalize moments”. When it is exclusively created, it embodies the personality of who wears it, represented in gems’ colors, noble metals, translating the enchantment of each magic moment in life. I’m inspired by the constant movement of the Universe. I was born in Vera Cruz/ SP, and I currently live in Marilia/ SP. I’ve got a post-graduate degree in Gemology from Universidade Federal De Ouro Preto/MG. I’ve studied Science at UNESP, Jewelry Design at SENAC, Jewel and Gem Evaluation, Gem Cut, Pearl Wiring, Color Analysis and Jewelry Production Techniques. I have an specialization in identifying, classifying and assessing Diamonds. I have worked as an International correspondent for three years, covering the major jewelry, gems and watches fairs, in Basel, Vincenza, Hong Kong and Thailand. I’ve written several articles published in magazines specialized in jewelry, such as BR&J. I have launched the collection Playing with Miró at SPFW, inspired by the Spanish painter Juan Miró, Casa Cor, Feninjer SP – Sept./2011.”

Renata Salvadori “I have attended Fine Arts College in São Paulo and been to workshops around the world. Nowadays my work revolves around unique jewelry in silver and stones. I handle the piece of jewelry as a work of art that goes with the body valorizing mystery and a mystical world, attributing to these objects the power to reconnect us. Besides, I truly believe in the strength of Brazilian design.”

Sandra Guarnieri “I was born in São Paulo and graduated in Pedagogy. I have always been mad about jewelry and used to have my own pieces made. After my daughter was born I stopped teach in gand started taking several courses to spend time, but I had no motivation to finish any of them. That was when I came across the jewelry course and decided to take it, it was love at first ‘class’, the transformation of metals enchanted me, I haven’t stopped since then, I’ve worked in the bench for 5years and I have improved myself with different courses, among them Jewelry Design. I have classic and clean style, once I believe that a piece of jewelry should last for generations.”

Vera Monfort “I am a business administrator and also someone who has the vocation for studying arts, in the search for an artistic expression I have found in the manufacturing of jewels my way. My work comes from experimenting with classical materials, gold and silver, associated to conventional elements such as fossils, coral, minerals and unusual gems, in their most varied forms. The result are unique combinations that reflect the search for the unusual without parting with the sophistication and exclusivity.”

Maria Isabel “My painting is closely connected to the unconscious, I do not idealize anything before I start painting. A line leads to another that leads to another, the color appears and the work is gradually constructed. Then I seek a certain harmony between forms and colors. Color is key for me, totally connected to my feelings. I am often surprised by figures that appear linked to the children’s world and dream. Birds and Ballen as appear in many forms in my work. I have designed and painted since childhood and I have always been passionate about Fine Arts. At the moment, I spend my time painting with acrylic paint and digital design work on the computer. The most important thing in my painting is the pleasure I feeling doing it.”

NAMES THAT WILL SURELY REMIND YOU OF BALLS AND RACKETS: IVANISEVIC, BAHRAMI, KAFELNIKOV, VERDASCO, MONFILS, KRAJICEK, SANTORO

This year’s  Gala Games has reached its fourth year anniversary.

Welcome  “Tennis Classics Players”.

The date and place as to be at the “hard courts”:

October, 29. 2011.

Scene: “László Papp” Sport Arena – Budapest

Even if the weather will be cloudy, the Stars of Tennis bring sunshine to the Arena, that’s for sure!

The Tennis Classics Players were introduced as they arrived to the scene of  the Gala Evening at the Budapest’s  Hotel Kempinszky by Balázs Taróczy, the former Hungarian tennis player who opened the ground. His name in tennis  wasn’t familiar to the world of tennis in the year 1985 ,  whereas he won in the doubles title with partner  Heinz Gunthardt  at  Wimbledon. The Tennis Classics Players was a long cherished dream of his. as to once be able to bring to the ground of Budapest the grand  tennis players, so that the Hungarians can see and have the moody feeling that is on at these  grounds of tennis. Mr. Taróczy’s  great supporter and helping hands in bringing  and holding this special event  was and this year aswell  is  Andrea Temesvári, the former professional  tennis player. Once was ranked as high as the World Number. 7 and  in 1986 at the French Open  she won with Martina Navratilova in the woman’s double.  Now it can be seen that the guest tennis players will be in good hands.

Balázs Taróczi’s dreams are coming true this year  again as to welcome fabulous selection of grand tennis players. As he said during the welcoming ceremony, “It is easier to give call  and invite my  former ground players. Knowing personally each other is as simple as “ace” and always receives the welcome. Unfortunately, not so smooth with the to-day’s great tennis players, who (their managers) sometimes haven’t a clue who they are talking with,  so it ain’t always easy to reach the goal,  just having to give a harder try”.

The players initiated luckily made it. The legendary player from Croatia – who doesn’t remember his Grand Slams – Goran Ivanisevic is the  4th Tennis Classics’s guest star.  (Balázs Taróczy was  Goran Ivanisevic’s coach throughout 1989/1990).  Jevgenyij Kafelnikov, another big shot has arrived to participate in rolling the good times on at this Gala of Tennis. Superb that to-day’s first in the line of tennis players Fernando Verdasco and Gael Monfils have had excepted the invitation to join this group of marvelous tennis players as to play tennis for fun and from deep down their hearts.

Fernando Verdesco,  last but not least he arrived safe and sound and spoke about his route from the airport to the Hotel Kempinszky: “I will surely keep in mind this afternoon’s arrival of mine to the Hotel Kempinszky”. His plane landed late at the “Ferenc (Frank) Liszt” Airport/Budapest and he would have had arrived to the gathering pretty late if it wasn’t for the motorcycle police to escort him all the way from the airport to the Hotel  Kempinszky. So, the troopers of Metro Police  accomplished what is written on their motorcycle “To Protect and Serve”. Verdasco also added: “The Police sure did a splendid job and I was amazed how the rolling cars along the way  just pulled aside by hearing the loud toot siren passing them. This was something pretty unusual experience for me, something I will  surely remember”

Richard Krajicek,  implemented us of  his secret of how he was able to come and join this magnificent selection of tennis players. He said: “I am often far from my wife and son and I work hard on it to be there with them at least on week-ends. This time I told my wife, I will leave Friday late afternoon  hours. (The flight  from Amsterdam to Budapest is only one-and-a-half hours) ) and at Sunday morning 9 a.m. on the spot I will be sitting at the breakfast table to have breakfast together. The Central and Eastern European Contemporary Art Fair:

October, 27-30, 2011. Budapest

 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Thursday

 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Sunday

It was a pleasure to drop by over the River Danube to the Buda-side up to the  Millenarian Convention Center “Millenáris” to see the Art Market  of 2011. It is  fine place to meet artists, teachers of art, gallery folks and collectors.  The list of materials in use by the artists is enormous. Just a few seen at the exhibition: ceramics, glass, metals. Out on display were a volume of artworks that were previously exhibited  abroad at  international art fairs. The past years modern hotel’s halls have had given a space to hold exhibitions by contemporary artists and by all means also decorated, uplifted the area.  Contemporary art has entered the contemporary photography. A new dimension to add to the  modern art. You can peak into these artistic trends at the Fair.

Throughout Budapest there are many growing galleries, just like the mushrooms: home-galleries, cellar-galleries, rearranged basements of huge luxury flats, and hotels, you name it.

Here’s an insight to the following days programs. One or the other may fit into your time and program to see this huge national and international art fair.

DAY 2 – ROLLING IN MOHÁCS – PART 2

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Before you get into reading the afternoon’s programs that I wish to share with you, I  have the pleasure to admit Mohács has plenty to offer to all its arriving guests. If you are looking for a warm welcome, even on a cold  day, you will feel jolly good  with all the excitements.

Besides the cultural experiences for about to see at Mohács, not bad to know its region is an important wine-growing , which has become more and more famous with its  dry white wines.

You have arrived to the right place.!

After leaving the Museum of Busó (pro. as Busho), we hit the road again to explore  the Museum of  Dorottya (Dorothy). The  museum is a home with its largest collection displays Hungarian, Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian folk customs, folk ceramics and arts.  More than 3000 ceramics, 5000 homespun, 130 painted carved chests are some of the treasures can be seen at the Dorottya Kanizsai Museum.

Another significant building the Dome stands at the Main Square the “Széchényi “Square. Before leaving the Main Square we  visited the Church of Oath that is also known as the Battlefield’s Memorial Church. It represents as a landmark of the Hungarians national union. Within the church’s decoration, the  forms of the glass windows  had a reminder of the  times from the  Middle Ages.

The Dorottya  (Dorothy) Kanizsai Museum.

The museum with its largest collection displays Hungarian, Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian folk customs and folk arts.  More than 3000 ceramics, 5000 homespun, 130 painted carved chests are some of the treasures can be seen at the Dorottya (Dorothy) Kanizsai Museum.

Serbian Orthodox church

A breathtaking scene welcomed us. The whole  furnitures and stands were made of wood. This Baroque Serbian Orthodox church was built by Serbians escaping to Hungary from the Turkish in 1732. The inside icons are from the early 19th century works by Mór Csóka, Hungarian painter. The 48 meters tall church can be easily seen from far away distance.

Rolling on the River Danube on Mohács’s catamaran

An outstanding trip out on the River Danube, drifting on a catamaran, whereas ya can enjoy the outstanding hospitality of the crew.  Can go for an expedition of watching the landscape and the birds of this territory or just for pleasure having a boat trip. You may feed your eyes with the outstanding sight on both sides of the bank. All you need is to make a reservation (you float on the catamaran from early spring untill the River Danube doesn’t froze) and spend a wonderful time with your friends and/or family. Also you can a receive a treat from the Captain, as to be wed while floating on the catamaran. See the guidelines on the attached snap.

The promenade by the riverbank is going on to be extended and renewed to please those wishing to have a pleasant stroll along the river.

Lunch time down at the bank of the river at the  Halászcsárda  “Fisherman’s -“home-made meals”

Just was in the right time to hear we are heading to the Halászcsárda. Now we all became hungry thinking of the Hungarian Fish soup that  many  have dreamt of on our way to the Halászcsárda. It is a neighbouring building next door to our stay at the Hotel Szent János  (Saint John). Furnished in the old  Hungarian style, as a fisherman’s port.

We all enjoyed the typical Hungarian riverside meal: Soup: Hungarian fish soup “halászlé”, 2nd course: Hungarian pasta with sweet cheese and sweet  cream “túróscsúsza”, desert: pancake filled with sweet milk cheese mixed with raisin topped with vanilla cream “mazsolás túrós palacsinta, vaniliás öntettel”, booze: plum pálinka “szilva pálinka”

After our wonderful lunch, we “jumped up the bus” and headed to our last  scene of our 2 days “study tour”

Museum of White and Black storks

Received  an overview of the natural environment at the surrounding area of Mohács with its woods and many small ponds, river-sides that are  in favour to the storks  living/staying in Hungary’s Mohács area. Snaps, maps, video, stamping rings, tales about  their migration routes were out on displays. A wonderful guide showed us around by giving a full overview about the white and black storks surrounding the area of Mohács. Spoke about their habitats and habits, especially underlining the  black storks as  the unique pieces in  the world of nature, their loyalty and the storks as parents.

Darkness covered  the city by the time we left the museum and start our way  back to Budapest on a rainy cold evening during the Fall of October.

Personally wish to thank each and everyone who had a part in hosting us to this Study Tour. The surely worked hard  as to ensure we enjoy our stay. They hope we all will take back and share, spread our memories and come back again someday, if not earlier than in February when the days of the Walking Busó (pro:Busho)Parade “Busójárás” that fills the air at Mohács. I  would like to recommend every foreigners living in Hungary and tourist already in the planning state to mark the date in your 2012 calendar for February’s stay at Mohács.

Summarizing my 2nd day of  adventures, Mohács with its rich history background and the marvelous hospitality of the locals made my day.

It was really a pleasant Magical Mystery  Tour.
