David Helfgott Shined In Budapest 2024

0VERSEAS TOURING NOW BACK TO BUDAPEST!

David Helfgott only gives a few solo concerts thoughout a year. This time he came to Budapest for the fourth time as a guest at the Grand Synagogue on the Dohany Street. The “Shine Budapest!” concert was held on Sunday, March,17. 2024 at 6 p.m. with around 4000 or more people on the spot. The music of Helfgott pianists lovers fully filled the Synagogue.

It was a breath-take-away Concert! He bound on stage like an excited child … chatting incessantly to himself … or could it be to the higher beings above!?! He was wearing a turquoise satin shirt (a Cossack dancer probably wear.) Its sheen reflects his enthusiasm. A few times looked to his right to see his audience beyond the glare of the spotlight. Assume his “Thumbs up!” is his trade mark I guess. He grins, exuding sheer joy. Then he sits at the Steinway and begins to play. Eyes open, we see a man who embraces not only the music, but the audience. He chatters nonstop, incorporates his version of singing along with the music. He is clearly having the time of his life. He sits upright. Then his back is hunched as he leans over, his face almost touching the keys. At the end of each musical piece, he jumps to his feet, grins broadly and bows hyperactively as he effusively thanks his audience. “Thumbs up!” again. He does not speak inbetween pieces. Not in the normal accepted sense. But there is no shortage of communication, albeit the language is somewhat different. There is such generosity of spirit and emotion on display. Everyone in the audience senses it. Men wearing suits, jeans and tattoos; ladies in stilettos, boots and sneakers; wide-eyed youngsters. We were hypnotized by the spell of Helfgott magnificant pianist and making him also so happy on this special night in Budapest.

Two hours later, after a standing ovation, streamers, the audience demanded the encore with minutes of standing ovation, then we witness and sharpen our ears to the Sword Dance (Khachaturian).

The National Museum pays tribute to André Kertész with three special exhibitions.

March, 23. and September, 22. 2024.

The Hungarian National Museum will be organizing a series of exhibitions on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the birth of the world-famous photographer André Kertész. At the exhibitions a selection of Kertész pictures bought in New York in 2021. These present never-before-seen pictures at 3 locations: @ Esztergom’s – Balassa Museum, @ Hungarian National Museum – Budapest and @ Robert Capa Center – Budapest.

After his emigration to Paris in 1925, André Kertész returned home several times, opened several exhibitions. A memorial museum bearing his name was created in Szigetbecs from the photographs he gave in Hungary shortly before his death.

This time, the focus of the National Museum’s exhibition series is not the reminiscing artist, but a young man born in Budapest on July 2, 1894, who was still searching for his way for a long time. He spent his childhood in Teleki tér and then Népszínház utca (both streets located in district VIII. Budapest) and also spent a lot of time with his relatives in Szigetbec and Tiszaszalka. and as a soldier he could visit almost every corner of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Loves and passions, danger to life, and the boredom of being a clerk were all part of the class. He moved to Paris at the age of 31, but he did not come with an empty bag. Our series explores the background of this launch and presents it to visitors for the first time.
In 2021, the sales contract for “André Kertész’s photo collection” covered a total of 1,163 pictures, the majority of which were taken before 1925. These are: 943 contact copies, 59 larger vintages, 151 Polaroid photos, 9 personal photos and a collage. After the purchase, was carried out a condition assessment of the photographs at the National Museum. The museologist of the Historical Photo Gallery, historian Éva Fisli, dealt with the registration of the photographs. In the last decade, she was able to research several times in the Kertész archive in France, and the documents she got to know there helped her clarify inaccuracies related to Kertész’s youth. She undertook latter as the curator of the exhibition series that will be shortly to start.

Pharmacist of the Year & My Favorite Pharmacy Campaign 2024.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Since 2011, the National Association of Private Pharmacists, with the cooperation of the Hungarian Pharmaceutical Society, has been announcing awards for pharmacists and pharmacies every year. This year, reached its 14th occasion.

The press gathering was held at one of  Budapest most attractive roof top 7th floor presentation hall at the Aria Hotel – Budapest. Were present Dr. Bálint Mikola – founding president of the National Association of Private Pharmacists, Dr. Antal Samu – Founding President of the Professional Committee of Pharmaceutical Care, Prof. Dr. Gábor Halmos – Managing Director of Nero Solution Ltd. – University Teacher, Dr. El Koulali Zakariás – Vice President of the Hungarian Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. Lajos Hodossy – Managing Director of Roche Magyarország Ltd.

First speaker was Dr. El Koulali Zakariás – Vice President of the Hungarian Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences, who pointed out that the aging population of the developed world and the problematic above age 65 brings hugh attention to the professionals  with patients taking of 15 pills a day., a real killer. Today there are the number of 3000 pharmacies around Hungary … (taking in mind the number of pharmacies of Hungary which lies  within 93030 square kilometers, and roughly has 9,730,526 inhabitants.)

The aging population of the developed world and the problematic above 65 of age taking a dozen pills/day. The area of Hungary is 93,030 square kilometers, and 9,730,526 people have 3,000 pharmacies. During the presentations Dr. Samu Antal made a remarkable statement that “Not important to live for the age of 90 with struggling pains all over.” The goal is to live healthy without pains and not to “eat” more-and-more  unessesary drugs! Globally, 50% of the drugs are badly taken… causing undesired effects.

Dr. Bálint Mikola told, it is rare to find such a wide-ranging tender, which covers every corner of the country from East-and-West, from micro-regions to specialist care institutions. This definitely encourages the organizers that these applications and applicants should be embraced, presented given a podium, so that we can make these valuable ideas that they have developed into public property. This is especially important today, when we see the struggles of the health care system, therefore if we combine our efforts, we may have opportunity to help improve the situation and patient care. Also emphasized that patient care is burdened. He gave an example of a previous professional visit to Ireland, whereas, the doctor and the pharmacist work closly together, they constantly consult and support guidelines to the family doctor to cure the patient’s health being. Of course, this is achieved by the patient replacing his medication at the same pharmacy. It often happens that he/she takes 15 different medicines/day and because of this, his/her health condition does not improve due to the interaction of the medicines.

Dr. Lajos Hodossy – Managing Director of Roche Hungary highlighting the importance of personalized pharmaceutical care changing benefit of the patient. This would be a huge opportunity in healthcare for patients in Hungary as well, so it would not “poison the patient” with unnecessary side-effect medicines.

In the “My Favorite Pharmacy” contest, the patients can directly form their opinion on the pharmacy’s work with their vote, which (in contrast to the other award) will qualify the work of the entire pharmacy. By the end of the voting, the pharmacy with the most votes will be the winner and can bear the honorary title of My Favorite Pharmacy. The undisclosed goal of the initiative is to better introduce and recognize pharmaceutical work. Many people probably remember, for example, that during the COVID epidemic, when most health care facilities were forced to close, but at the same pharmacies remained open continuously and, in addition to dispensing preparations, also helped those who came to them with professional advice.

With the “Pharmacist of the Year” award, the organizers goal is to recognize a professional who is not only popular among their patients (laymen), but who can also demonstrate outstanding professional performance, so a professional application that elaborates on one of the 10 possible topics also required. The application is open, all active pharmacists can participate. The applications are judged anonymously by the members of the professional jury, and the award ceremony is to be held at the XXXIV Private Pharmacists National Congress. Members of the professional jury: Dr. Bálint Mikola – Honorary president of the National Association of Private Pharmacists, Prof. dr. Éva Szökő – Public health expert – President of the Hungarian Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prof. dr. Ildikó Csóka – Director General of Strategy at the University of Szeged – Head of Department,  Prof. dr. Gábor Halmos – Deputy dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Debrecen – Head professor, Dr. Antal Samu –  Founder of pharmaceutical care in Hungary.

Partly in the spirit and taking into account the high quality of the projects and the professional interest, the Judging Committee together with the organizers published the updated projects of the previously awarded pharmacists in the form of a separate, printed publication told Prof. Dr. Gábor Halmos – Managing Director of Nero Solution Ltd. – University Teacher.

On the website https://www.evgyogyszeresze.hu/ (Hungarian) everyone can nominate and vote for the pharmacist they think is the best. After summarizing the proposals received, the jury will ask the professionals who receive the most proposals (votes) to submit a professional application, and during this coming Fall will be chosen from among them. There are still 84 days left to vote!

To Kill 2 Birds With 1 Stone …  Read Why!?!

Introduce the Pápai Meat Matured in aged 111-year-old Tokaj Szomorodni Wine @ the Count Degenfeld Castle Hotel’s – Winery

(Mind my readers a bit long riport but worthwhile strolling down and maybe to visit Tarcal venue will be on your bucketlist) But to start in the beginning of the headlines … Departure at 8 a.m. from Budapest to the historic wine region of Tokaj. After a 3 hours’ journey we arrived to the heart of the region. The sprinkle of Spring’s moody weather awaited us. We strolled among their famous vineyards also, to understand why there is no surprise, that it has attracted the attention of the greats of the wine world for over 5 centuries. The period style reflected the era of the Monarchy and the tranquillity of nature made one’s heart beat.

Arriving to our destination was welcomed at the Count Degenfeld Castle Hotel @ Tarcal. (Tarcal is a village which lies at the bottom of the mountain on the eastern edge of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, northern Hungary, in the famous Tokaj-Mountain side wine district Hungary’s most famous wine region! The 4-star hotel operates in the middle of a 100-hectare area planted with grapes, in a renovated heritage manor building. (The Estate is one single estate of 150 hectares, which is very rare. Classified First Growth in 1732 by royal decree, it was always the property of influential Hungarian families who took great pride in their vineyard and wines.)

The Pápai Meat has “invented” a truly special product line up called Sonkarikum. The ham masters and their product development team are one of the biggest players in the domestic bacon and ham sector have came up with three special flavors. The meat industry company in cooperation with the Gróf Degenfeld Wine Estate, also produced from its winery’s szamorodni wine in use for aging.

On the occasion to the 111th anniversary of its founding of the Pápai Meat Ltd., has presented a real specialty the limited-edition Sonkarikumok, which will beout in stores just before Easter. These are made from the finest selected ingredients, is aged for exactly 111 days, i.e. words 4 months.

Before the presentation visited the basment and had a taste of rich in taste of the Muscat Blanc Bio 2022, thereafter walked through old to explore in the six hundred years’ old labyrinth.cellars, looked at the old tools in use for winemaking.

Presentation began with “Hungaricum””Hamkarikumok” Pápai Meat Ltd.
Q.: “We also want to celebrate our special anniversary with the Sonkarikums. According to numerology, the number 1 is a symbol of new beginnings and discovery. With our product development, we wanted to reflect the fact that we are a company in the domestic meat industry that is always striving for renewal and looking for new things. – explained Péter Szappanos, managing director of Pápai Meat Ltd., In addition said Q.’“In addition to the Pápai Meat Ltd, according to the latest available survey of Consumer Panel Services, conducted at the end of last year, based on the amount sold, bacon is the largest market player among the brands for processed products, cooked-smoked meats and cooked ham. So who, if we didn’t appear at home with such a truly extraordinary, premium product. The product line comes in three flavors. The specialty in taste made from pork frikando, use a salt mixture and a spicy marinade containing the Tokaji Szamorodni wine. In addition to the characteristic taste and smell of the wine, bay leaves, star anise and mustard seeds give the ham the extraordinary balanced taste. Thanks to the ham master, the end result is a pleasantly smoked, dry-aged ham with the notes of the wine and the spices in use among premium hams. The other two elements in their Sonkarikum product line the exotic ham with black pepper, juniper berries and coriander, matured in mild spices, and the other spices gourmet ham with basil, oregano and thyme.” Last but not least he added Q.: “Highlighting that the food industry, including the meat industry, is going through a marked transformation all over the world. Success requires a new approach, brave decisions, and new products that arouse the curiosity of consumers. And the company took a significant step in this direction with the Sonkarikums”

The food choice habits have changed a lot in recent years, more-and-more,vegan consumers are searching for these products. Pápai Meat Ltd. was the first among the large domestic meat industry companies to start producing vegan meat substitute products, and even since then, vegan meat substitute products are being offered.

Kálmán Tarró – master ham of Pápai Meat Ltd. emphasized Q.: “It is a responsible goal, but at the same time a joyful task to create a legend on Pápai every day. Pápai ham is a symbol of the excellence of Hungarian pig farmers and butchers. In addition to high-quality domestic pork, the tradition of butchery handed down from generation-to-generation had made Pápai a sign of the best ham for Hungarian customers. The hams made at Pápa are matured for a long time and holding to the knowledge trying to preserve and pass on to the next generations, so that they aswell may offer the products with similar pride and joy for times to come.”

Beside other questions was asked to Máté Tóth – managing director of Gróf Degenfeld Vineyard … “How does the Papi Meat and Count Degenfeld came together in this project? “… The explanation was simple by his side … Q.: “Pápai and Count Degenfeld are two historic Hungarian brands. A special ham requires a special aging. We are confident that Count Degenfeld’s sweet Pápai Sonkarikum aged in Szamorodni wine for 111 days will most probably trigger once tasting this unquie flavors and target the consumers taste.”

The Consumer Panel Services confirmed the company’s strategic decision in 2019, focusing on three product areas, ham and bacon, as well as vegan products. Their developments were also aimed in modernizing the production processes associated with them. Since then 23% volume increase in the strategic products. Five years ago, an investment process of more than HUF2 billion. The implementation began with the support of the Economic Development and Innovation Operative Program (GINOP). As a result, 26 types of new machines were put into operation, which was also a significant advance in the field of production, slicing and packaging. Thereafter came to increase the capacity for ham and smoked goods by 40%, and for bacon by 30%.

After the presentations, the Count Degenfeld Hotel offered real poems of finger-food and a line of exotic fruit also beside the mouthwatering 6 putons Tokaj Aszu 2017 and 5 puton Tokaj Szomorodi 2017 and naturally we all were enchanted.

Before leaving the venue was showed the outside the Count Degenfeld Hotel the amazing picturesque setting in the heart of the Tokaj Mountains wine region, watching nature’s rows of still sleeping vines.

Walked up the hill to the Saint Terese Chapel which was built in 1750 in honor of Queen Mária Terézia of Hungary.

We left Tarcal wine region during the afternoon, and arrived to Budapest in the early evening hour.

What a wonderful day we had, thanks to the organizers, the Count Degenfeld Estate/Winery and the Pápai Meat Ltd.
