THE NATIONAL GALLOP IS ONE OF, OR I MIGHT NOT BE FAR FROM SAYING,  THE ONE OF THE KIND,  MOST SPECTACULAR GATHERING EVENT OF THE YEAR!

WATCH OUT AND TRY TO MAKE IT!

 Where:

To the biggest Hungarian Equestrian Festival, Heroes’ Square, Budapest on September, 14 -16.

NATIONAL GALLOP RACE – 2012.

Gosh, time surely runs or should I say gallop fast, as you wish. Another year is here again and the Heroes’ Square (I am most sure spending a couple of day at Budapest, the tourist know the roundabouts  very well)  soon will be covered by golden sand, no, no not because of construction works! The environment at the Heroes’ Square will be turned into a racetrack, whereas horse riders will show their best riding skills and not to mention the beauty of their horses.  The festive of massive attraction will on the platform for the arrangements to this year’s 5th occasion to be held the National Gallop. Take this as a herald news and to mark the day in your diary: September 14-16. For tourists who are staying in Budapest and those diplomats, business ladies and gents, all foreigners temporary staying in Budapest to be, to see, beside many attractions, the Hungarian long gone tradition of the Hussars kept alive at the National Gallop Race.

As it was said at to-day’s official  participating towns and villages drawing to the National Gallop Race, held at the Museum of Military History:  “This outstanding event stands for four reasons:  Preserving Traditions, Cultural, Entertainment, Uniting Collaboration.

It ain’t easy when, just like in any country which  has a bit of a lack of economics feed, then the culture often gets cut and it suffers, but we all are aware of these symptoms, and thanks to our sponsor whom recognized the important of the patriot race gave their support. By these aids the organisers wish to continue, keep alive the Hungarian Hussar traditions by holding the National Gallop event. As many history lovers may know and for those just getting into it,  the hussar tradition is a huge chapter of the country’s history ever since the XVIth century, the time of the Hungarian  Renaissance. Yes indeed, this is just one of the “Hungaricum” to be worthwhile to show the tourist,  foreigners temporary living, working in Hungary, but to show the world Hungary was not only famous of its well-know breeds of  its kind, but of its grand horse riders as well.

The Heroes’ Square by itself  represents a long time past history of the Hungarian statehood. The Square holds an awesome visual environment showing the horse statue, also up high  the angel monument prophesied by King St. Stephen, furthermore the standing proudly “Seven Chiefs” historic kings and heroes.

In between the qualifying rounds, there will be outstanding programs to be seen: hussars, outlaws, dressage demonstration,  the Mayors carriage driving competition, actors  racing, dames horse riding,  the Little Hussar gallop, the Chariot Gallop, Celebrity Charity Race and there will be Cart Pushing Competition, but need not have to worry of  getting Hungry in between. The Hungarian kitchen won’t be missing on the spot with spicy and non-spicy dishes and drinks  to comfort  the visitors needs. May known or not yet: Hungary, drinks its own wine, their Palinka, eats its traditional Hungarian food, sweets … do you wish more, then have to visit the National Gallop and you name it what was the best in taste within every senses of yours.

Looking ahead into the future Mr. Vilmos  Lázár, the Hungarian Horse Association and President of the National Gallop, emphasized they are looking to the future expansion of equestrian competition, involving foreign countries as to represent their city and join the Gallop Festival  here in Budapest. Mr. Lázár was happy to say, this year for the first time from the other side of the border, Transylvania also joined the Race. He continued: “In this spirit,  with pleasure wish the presence of other foreign countries in the future to participate at the National Gallop races”

Last year, I recognized from my update readers, many came and spent their holidays in Budapest, connected to the arrangements of the National Gallop. Hope this year many will find their delight anf pleasure at this event.

I am sure, I am not on my own saying, those folks who will not be at  the Hereos’ Square between 14-16 of September will miss much and will not be able to see, another event like this, will have to wait for 365 days to be present at such a superb race.

So the Race is On, but you don’t have to race,  the National Gallop Race is free of charge!

ARI KUPSUS GALLERY’S UPCOMING EXHIBITION AT THE CASTLE ISZKASZENTGYÖRGY!

You  are cordially invite  to the Exhibition Opening of works by

Mr. Zoltán Z. Szabó

at

Amadé-Bajzáth-Pappenheim

CASTLE AT ISZKASZENTGYÖRGY

September, 5. 2012  –  6 p.m.

The exhibition will be on view till September, 30, 2012.

The first Artists’ Camp organized by Mr. Ari Kupsus was set-up at the historical Amadé-Bajzáth-Pappenheim castle which stands in the picturesque village of Iszkaszentgyörgy. The village of 1,800 inhabitants is located next to Székesfehérvár, at the foot of Iszka Hill which is part of the Bakony mountains. The area has been inhabited for many centuries and was first mentioned in documents in 1193. There were three villages on its area in the Middle Ages: Iszka, Szentgyörgy and Atya. Since 1590 the area has been called Iszkaszentgyörgy (Saint George of Iszka). A legend is attached to the name Szentgyörgy: Saint George defeated the dragon which terrorized the region at the road to Fehérvár. The village is rich in historic relics. Besides agriculture and forestry, handicraft also flourished. There area is also well known for its wines.

The Amadé-Bajzáth-Pappenheim castle was first mentioned in documents in 1735. The first part of the castle complex was built up the same year by the Amadé-family. The visit to the castle and its parks is a journey in the history of art, including all styles from Baroque to the neo-Baroque of the early 20th century. Other spectular sights of the village are the Calvinist and Roman Catholic churches.

It is  believed that this historical building together with the romantic remnants of its formerly glorious English and French baroque gardens inspire artists. The camp offers a great opportunity to work and enjoy the beautiful Hungarian landscape and create arts  together with international artists from all over Europe.

From these donated works some will be donated in turn to the village of Iszkaszentgyörgy to create a special contemporary art collection for the inhabitants of the village.

This exhibition opening will be part of the celebrations of inauguration of the Finnish museum opened by H.E. President of Republic of Finland, Mr Sauli Niinistö  on the same day at 4 p.m.

The exhibition opening will be followed by the contemporary dance show in the garden of the castle, choreography by Ms. Rita Gobi  with her dance group.

FOURTH YEAR OF THE “POZSONYI PICNIC FESTIVAL” – BUDAPEST

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

A DAY AT THE  POZSONYI –  PICNIC – FESTIVAL

Was a superb day for Family to gather and long non seen friends to meet. The small and young children had their “wonderday at wonderland” with playground and stages where they could throw pillows at each other and enjoying the flying red color feathers, which probably was their  joyful and the best day of the year.  The kids had different art tables,  making their own little jewelry and art designs. Sweets for sweet lovers and booze were just within the distance of their fingertips. The street was so crowed that even if you had a small size foot you could hardly find the place to land it. The weather was just perfect, a non sweating one. Short rain did not disturb the awesome performances. Luckily, the rain as it burst, in flew away shortly.

ART AND DESIGN FOR ALL!

On the road of Pozsonyi, the Museum of Applied Arts participated and also drawn attention to the museum’s  special exhibition, history of the Victoria and Albert Museum, the world’s leading museum of art and design, by giving an overview of the objects of the Victorian age and of the earliest pieces in the museum. This unique exhibition can only be seen until September the 16th so there is still 2 weeks ahead if it would not wished to be missed. Another interesting exhibition can be seen until the end of September: Art Deco and the Modernism, which covers the interior design in Hungary from 1920 up to 194. http://www.imm.hu/hu/contents/inenglish

To-day in the early afternoon hours a shorty performance was given by  Mr. Zoltán Nauman, as an appetizer to be seen of the musical melodrama ”Jentl”. The performance  was welcomed and enjoyed  by the huge audience at the Spinoza stand. Ms. Barbara Streisand played the original role  and sang those remarkable songs. Late afternoon, the awaited performance given by the actors and actresses from the “Víg” Theater stepped on stage with “The Fiddle on the Roof”, known by almost everybody being at the scene. Here is a shorty video of the performance:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Dl1CLHdna4&feature=plcp

The Radnóti theater artists, musical and opera singers ensured the audience of the rolling good times.

A great act was to greet with 100 balloons, underneath the balcony of  the 100 years old Mrs. Radnóti, at the Pozsonyi Rd. She didn’t step out, but her window and door was open and most probably heard  the greeting words said by Mr. András Bálint, Director of the Radnóti Theater. Mrs. Radnóti lives for decades in the same flat and she is  the widow of  Mr. Miklós Radnóti (1909-1944), a Hungarian Jew and a fierce anti-fascist, the greatest Hungarian poet of the Holocaust. His poetry mingles avant-garde and expressionist themes with a new classical style.

HERALD NEWS! 12 DAYS TO THE UPCOMING LARGEST WINE FESTIVAL IN BUDAPEST

Programme for Hungary’s largest wine cultural event!

Youngsters, wine-lovers – Focus on the Young at the 21st  Buda Castle Wine Festival.

A new generation of wine makers has come of age. They are young, good-looking, talented and resolute, and want to show why their work is receiving such praise. This is the main reason why this year the Buda Castle Wine Festival is placing young wine makers in the limelight.

This year’s Buda Castle Wine Festival…

… is featuring young wine makers. The second generation has come of age. Perhaps … they know everything about grape, wine and those little family secrets. Some of them must have received the key to the big cellar from their parents. Everybody is watching them. Now it is their turn to show what wines they can make. One cannot ignore fashion and the latest trends, but our young wine makers set about refreshing the formula with both feeling and cautiousness. Their wines are up-to-date, but the tastes of tradition still dominate in them as in the wines of their ancestors. At this year’s Buda Castle Wine Festival, wine lovers can learn what the young do a bit differently. The presence of a young winemaker will be indicated by an unmistakable logo on the wooden stands.  And what is more: Junibor, the Association of Young winemaker, will be the guest of the Buda Castle Wine Festival this year.

Next to the Hungarian Radio stage in the Lion Courtyard, visitors will be entertained by 28 well-known young wine makers from 10 wine regions of Hungary, who are all equally devoted to making high-quality wines, and will keep pouring good wines into glasses both in turns and together.

Hangoló – in  English “Tuner” – the world music concert of the Wine Festival is also the opening program. On 7, September, in the MOM Cultural Center, the unique Hungarian Heart Beats program presents the musical and cultural diversity that continues to flourish in Hungary on the basis of the traditions of the dance house movement. This exceptional show achieved great international success at the WOMEX World Music Expo in Copenhagen in 2011. The central role will be played by the “cimbalom”, reviving traditional Roma melodies and peasant music. As a counterpoint, whirling Southern Slav music with its asymmetrical rhythm and exciting duo of electric guitar and recorder will dazzle the audience.

… Croatia will be the Guest of Honour. It is widely known that nearly half of the wine makers of Croatia do not sell their wines, but rather only produce for their own consumption, which is also referred to in an old saying: “A man from Zagorje never sells his wine – it is rather drunk by his friends”.

Therefore, many wines that are traded are still relatively unknown outside Croatia. Hungarian wine lovers can now familiarise themselves with these hidden treasures. In addition to wines, the gastronomy and culture of Croatia will also be presented.

… Wine University again. On 10th of September, the Monday preceding the Festival, young wine makers will hold exciting presentations in a friendly atmosphere. Mr. Tibor Gál and Mr. Csaba Sebestyén will talk about the Bull’s Blood and Eger Star of the 21st century. Ms. Andrea Gere and Mr. Tomi Hernyák will launch a debate on where everything is decided: at the vineyard or on Facebook? Ms. Angelika Árvay and Mr. Endre Demeter will have a discussion about our sweet enemy, Tokaji wine. On Tuesday, 11, September, Croatia will introduce itself: with the help of history and culture, both wine makers and wines will provide visitors with a comprehensive picture of Croatia’s viniculture.

… all five days are about culture.Loads of world music, folk music and jazz. On the first day, the stage will be taken by the Csík Band, as well as György Ferenczi and the Rackajam, and VivatBacchus will sing. On Thursday, the Cimbaliband and Besh o droM and the usual, unforgettable concert by Ghymes will entertain wine-drinkers. Friday is to be an exciting world music day: the tunes of the Etnofon Musical Ensemble, Fabula Rasa, the Kerekes Band and Mr. Zoltán Orosz will serve as pleasant background music.

Traditionally, Saturday is the day of the Folk Music and Folk Dance Gala. The day will start with a jazzy upbeat, when the 19 members of the European Jazz Orchestra from 17 nations will play their instruments for the first time in Hungary. The main attraction of the day will be the Harvest Procession. Representing a real site and a festive mood; recalling the harvest celebrations of older times. The procession will consist of folk dance and cultural heritage groups in their unique folk costumes arriving from the various wine regions, representatives of Hungary’s wine regions, as well as members of their wine orders and associations of wine lovers. On reaching the Wine Festival stage, the participants in the procession will pass on the main role to folk dancers. The show from seven folk dance groups will be made unforgettable by the well-known Puppies Kutyakölykök”, and the day will be closed by Mr. István Pál Szalonna and his band.

A new development in the rich program of the Wine Festival is that Hungarian Jazz Day will be held in cooperation with the Hungarian Jazz Federation on the closing day, with Monamoand Guests and the Budapest Bossanova Quintet, while we will remember Jaco Pastorius at the Bass Guitar Celebration. The closing event of this year’s Buda Castle Wine Festival will end with the show from the Ricardo Salsa Club.

…quality gastronomy on top form for all. Thanks to the Guest of Honour, visitors’ summer memories of Croatia will be brought to life at the musical island of the Festival, where the typical ingredients and dishes of the regions will be served. For five days, visitors will be tempted by freshly sliced Dalmatian ham and the emblematic dishes of Southern Slav cuisine. Just a step away, accompanying light Croatian wines will make fish and all good snacks go down nicely: pljeskavica with Malvasia and many other tastes are there to be discovered by adventure-hungry visitors.

… we’d better look out as any one could be struck by BorÁmor’s (WineCupid) arrow. Those who are looking for a well-mannered wine-loving partner, but feel as if “I am taken” is written on their foreheads, should register with BorÁmor on the Buda Castle Wine Festival website. Every day, with kind, determined, but with moderation and good wines, more daring ladies and gentlemen will have the chance to participate in this game in the VIP tent of the Wine Festival. Ten women, ten men, three minutes of conversation, then change and change again. Three minutes are just enough to light a spark. Those who are averse to this direct way of getting acquainted with others can simply ask for a BorÁmor badge at the Koldus kapu “Beggar’s Gate” stand, in this way discreetly indicating to other lonely people that they are looking for a partner.

For the 14th time this year, the Charity Wine Auction will provide good proof of how those in need are important to successful members of society, namely the successful entrepreneurs in the grape and wine sector. The amount raised at this year’s Wine Auction will be used by the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service for eye tests and buying glasses for poor children to enable them to see the blackboard and perhaps also view the world in a different light.

Innumerable programs and services make wine drinking even more pleasant.

Arts and Crafts Fair with the participation of the Federation of Folk Art Associations. In Szent György utca (Saint  György Str.) on the way to the Wine Festival, folk artists present visitors to the Wine Festival with their trades and the ways of preparing items for use that are mainly related to wine making.

Families with small children are also ensured good entertainment and relaxation at the Wine Festival. Everyday, museum educators provide quality entertainment to children free of charge in the Children’s Area of the Hungarian National Gallery. On Saturday and Sunday, next to the stage, using classical children’s hobby techniques, kids can make fridge magnets and clay items and also try many hobby tools, thanks to “Kreatív Hobby”.

ACE Telecom will provide free Internet at the Wine Festival this year as well. This service not only makes it possible to keep in touch with friends and share experiences, but also permits the specific use of smart phones. The application contains the Wine Festival map, the data and contact details of exhibiting wine makers, the stage programs, information on performing artists and groups, recommended wine tours, as well as important information of public interest and other useful information.

Through the cork collection campaign that was such a great success last year, a lot of corks were collected. It was not enough for recycling, but the children in 16 kindergartens could prepare many toys using them. Those who bring their collected corks this year will also receive a gift and take part in a draw.

The Festival Restaurants introduce themselves. 17 of the best restaurants in Budapest will prepare 5-course menus on 7-17 September. Each course will represent the style of the chef who created it, and a carefully selected wine will be a perfect complement to each course. Table Free Budapest makes table reservation simple.

The main sponsor of the event is SPAR  Magyarország  Kereskedelmi Kft.

LEAVE YOUR FOOTPRINTS IN AFRICA

CELEBRATION OF THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AFRICA FOUNDATION.

Ten years of hard work.

Ten African countries to be visited.

When anybody hears about the 3rd World, the first thing that pops through their mind in hunger and poverty.

Late morning hours of to-day, journalists and media representatives were invited on occasion of the celebration to the Africa Foundation 10thanniversary. It was it was doubly underlined, the word help doesn’t always mean giving financial support. Love, care, attention doesn’t cost a thing.  It was also stated, that  throughout the years many Hungarian volunteers visited and attended building projects in Congo.

Mr. France Mutombo, Chairman of the Foundation for Africa opened the press conference by greeting the arrived press and media representatives saying the following: “The word AFRICA means:“SUNSHINE.” and perhaps can be said the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa, is the “brightest” country within their incredible amounts of minerals which hides beneath the land. The inhabited gorillas, rain forests, beautiful mountains, great lakes, incredibly colorful wildlife, villages are all outstanding sights, that went through the terrible civil wars and turning millions loss of life.”

“In the name of Support NOW…”

Some known media personalities and the chief patrons of a series of events who have had been and left their footprints in Africa also arrived to participate at the press conference connected to the 10th year celebration of the Africa Foundation. The foundation has been and has continually projects to buildup schools, whereas the local young adults can open their minds and learn. Of course they cannot build a school, a hospital, an orphan house with the use of reeds, treetops or leaves. Bricks are made for proper building.  A grand support can be giving just by buying one or a couple of bricks (the more, the sooner it will be in use) which will at the end stand as a building.

One of to-day’s  focus  was  to introduce how can someone give their support to ”BUY A BRICK AND HAVE YOUR MARK ON IT” project. During the presentation we were shown how simple  the “online giving” is.

Ms. Éva Barabás, Leader repertoire at the “Focus” program on the Hungarian Television –  Channel RTV Club joined the buy a brick and make it personal, by buying four brick and signing thoughts online  the bought bricks together with the present audience at the press gathering.

Mr. France Mutombo, President of the Foundation for Africa, held a live demonstration of how any individual is able to show their support through the Internet connection by saying: “If you agree with our aims and you would like to support our Foundation, you can contribute to our work in several ways. Support for projects, support for students and orphans, can also carry out direct financial support, operational support. We hope you will find the most convenient solution to support us.”

The 10th year celebration of the Foundation of Africa was also connected with the presentation ceremony of the “Good Examples Award” and handed over to the those individuals who have done much to show their care by participating in, projects, prepared television reports in the past and in recent times.

As to the celebration of  the 10th anniversary, the non-profit organization is launching several exciting humanitarian trips to ten countries. Starting in October when wide open doors and windows to Africa can be visited in the frame of  “Humanitarian Tourism in Africa”  The visited country’s will be: Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, South Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Could it be a more of an unforgettable experience to add to the celebration to the 10th anniversary than visiting the landscapes of  the SUNSHINE land. Here are the dates  and countries: 1-7, October,Ethiopia.  8–21, October,Kenya–Uganda–Rwanda–South-Africa.  22, October–1,  November, Tanzania( 10 Days).  2-9,  November, Tanzania („low-cost”). 8-30 November, Tanzania–Malawi–Zambia–Botswana–South Africa.  2–12, December,  Democratic Republic of the Congo. The costs would be 220.000 HUF,  plus flight expenses.

At the end of the press conference followed a reception, whereas African delights awaited the invited guests. Every visitor, personally could have their own experience of the unique flavors brought right from the grounds, of Africa.

Interesting flavors from Congo which really wasn’t strange in taste for us Hungarians. The fried banana eaten with mayonnaise is an everyday food in Congo, they aren’t the usual bananas that are bought here from the areas of South- America to Hungary. They a huge, much bigger and have to be peeled with a knife, at least that is what I was told.Very delecious I must say.  The Congo’s potatoes are huge bulbs. In Congo they, just like the grain are ground up, cooked as the mashed potatoes. Here we could  seasoned it with salt. The Congo tea’s  leaves were twice the size of a thumb. Served very hot, just  great at Budapest’s 29C in shade, but really an interesting smooth light taste similar to the “red root tea”

Last but not least, three teenagers, two girls and one boy were introduced to the press representatives. They will be shortly going to Congo as volunteer workers.

Leaving the press gathering was a kinda feeling being on a study tour to Congo. High and low figures were told, yet very interesting World. And as  the President  said: “Hungary is also a neighbouring country to Congo, even though the distance is far, we all are neighbours because we live altogether on one Planet.

BUDAPEST IS CELEBRATING IT’S 15TH JEWISH SUMMER FESTIVAL

AUGUST 26 – SEPTEMBER, 4. 2012.

METROPOLITAN “ERVIN SZABÓ” LIBRARY – BUDAPEST

TWO HIGHLIGHT OF EVENTS:

FIFTEEN ILLUSTRATED BOOKS BY ISRAELI CHILDREN

and

EXHIBITION SHOWING THE VALUABLE COLLECTION OF FAMOUS JEWISH MANUSCRIPTS AND JEWISH CEREMONIAL ITEMS FROM: ISRAEL, MAROCCO, PERSIA, INDIA…

Due to the Jewish Summer Festival, Budapest becomes the European capital not only for the Hungarian Jewish people living in the country, foreigners temporary staying in Hungary or people just arriving from abroad to enjoy the Jewish culture and art by participating at the amazing choice of performances, like the klezmer urban and pop music, classics and jazz productions, concerts and exhibitions.

Early afternoon of to-day at the Metropolitan “Ervin Szabó” Library, the largest library network in Budapest, Dr. Peter Fodor, Director-General opened two exhibitions organised in  the frame of the Jewish Summer Festival. On the occasion of the opening, the director-general greeted his Excellency, Mr. Ilan Mor, the Ambassador to Hungary from Israel, Mr. István Tarlós, Lord Major of Budapest and all the appeared public together with the media and press parties.

Excellency, Mr. Ilan Mor, the Ambassador to Hungary from Israel said: “The childhood illustrations belongs to our unforgettable memories of our lives. These memories remain within us and we carry them with pleasure from our childhood onwards to our adulthood. In this sence we are all most probably holding them the same way in each corner of  our planet.” He also expressed, it is such a pleasure to hold this exhibition on the occasion of the 15th Jewish Summer Festival in this extremely beautiful land of books and have high hopes young and elder people will enjoy visiting this exhibition by reaching out to get acquainted with the wayback past and near past in the history of Israel.

“Past and Future” …  Is the title of one of the leading  journals of the Hungarian Jews and one of the largest Jewish publishing houses in Hungary and this exhibition has received the same title which is opened from to-day to the public to see during the period of the Summer Jewish Festival. These two exhibitions opening at the same time involves both the past and  future within the cultural and historical significance in the form of manuscripts and religious objects and our aim is to  focus on the illustrations, drawings within the books by israeli children, said by Dr. Peter Fodor, Director-generalalso expressed his thanks for the  superb support coming from Jerusalem, the Israel Museum, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel  and the Embassy of the State of Israel in Hungary. As he said:  “happy to be a part in the series of this year’s 15th anniversary of the Jewish Summer Festival, by showing an insight into Israel’s thousand-years-old society and history and hopefully to some extent into its future as well.”

“The Jewish  Summer Festival focus all our senses, brings us closer to the Jewish culture, art,  songs and those traditional rhythm  in Hungary.  Some members of the Hungarian Jewish community’s marked many-many names: Miklós Radnóti, Antal Szerb, Frigyes Karinthy, István Örkény, Dénes Gábor, here  just mentioning a few of  outstanding figures. The Jewish documents and ceremonial relics showed artificial memories of the Jewish past”, these were the opening words of  Mr. István Tarlós, Lord Major of Budapest, and continued by saying:” To-day, if we step inside any of the open synagogues for example, the Óbuda Synagogue, we will see, meet the same objects as seen here.” Also Mr. Tarlós went back a bit in time by saying: “In the 2nd  half of the 19th century, following the Austro-Hungarian Compromise in 1967 when it was absolutely the golden age of the Jewish-Hungarian cohabitation, within the fields of industry, trading, services and the bank system. The Hungarian Jewry has done its share far beyond the population  size of this community. On the territories also inhabited by minorities, like in Transylvania, the Hungarian community has gained majority together with the “Hungarianised” Jewry of  Transylvania.  However, after the Treaty of Trianon this situation has dramatically changed. In public thinking the place of the Jewry living  in reality, has been replaced by phantoms and also prejudices were tailored for these phantoms. This era, with the numerous clauses at the beginnings has come to an end during the Holocaust, with the death of 600 thousand Hungarian Jews. This was not only the tragedy of the Jewry, but also of the Hungarian community at the same time. It  has been (in a way still is) an unacceptable, raw and traumatic experience for the Jewry  and the Hungarians.”  He also continued his thoughts by saying: “After the WW2 the Hungarian democracy was replaced by the great dictatorship “blasting” into Hungary from Moscow. The communist era had placed silence, repressed and trampled in grief each-and-every opinion and any thought which was incompatible with Moscow’s idea or will. Over the 40 years not just the word Jew, but also the Holocaust was considered as a taboo”  However, when  the political  change entered Hungary and the country became a free state, the anti-Semitic ideas and the way of thinking has reared its head again, as if previously there wasn’t at all the Holocaust era. Mr. Tarlós last but not least added the following: “Even though more than two decades have passed since the political change in Hungary. Still no real talk-overs were conducted and there was no elaboration of it up to this date.”

” I believe” said Mr. István Tarlós, ” We are making progress by taking small step-by-step at a time and hopefully these two exhibitions, which have arrived as a gift from the Embassy of the State of Israel in Budapest will take us forward in acquainting and understanding much better the Jewry.”

AUGUST, 20 – GYULAI ISTVÁN MEMORIAL ATHLETICS GP – THE GRAND DAY AT THE PUSKÁS STADION BUDAPEST

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Krisztián Pars Olympic Champion once again gain a victory by throwing his hammer away to the distance of  79.74 meters.

This year the two Gyulai brothers, VIP’s at the Hungarian Athletics Federation,  Miklós Gyulai, the President  and Márton Gyulai, Secretary General, Organiser of the Gyulai István Memorial Athletic GP set themselves up this year in reaching two main goals with the arrangements connected to the Gyulai István Memorial Athletics GP. Their first goal was to continue  the GP under the name of their father, Gyulai István, former sportman and worldwide known sport diplomat  and to commemorate to their father with arranging the second year of  the Gyulai István Memorial Atletics GP here in Budapest on the field by the not less known name as at the Puskás Ferenc Stadion. Second goal was to achieve that high stirling atmosphere again that was in  the athletics life during the ’80s in  Budapest by  bringing on stage together to celebrate the Hungarian olympic champions of  to-day and the past olympic games.

Was an excellent thought, not just because  the last time the Puskás Ferenc stadion was filled with so many viewers was a long gone era in the 90s, but to see again those olympic champions (that somehow on the way got out of our sight) was a perfect timing, especially if your old enough to remember these champions great performances.

Close to twenty thousand sport fans were able to watch live on the spot the best-of-the-best sportsmen and sportwomen coming over from  the London’s  Summer Olympic Games  just at their fingertips.

The stars-of-the-stars, the Queen of Sprinters was (sure you know by now who it will be!) Yes, Sanya Richards-Ross the four-time olympic champion, ran on 200 meters at (22.70 sec.) At the award ceremony, she also received a bouquet of flowers and as she stepped down from the podium, she went aside to give the flowers to a little boy and he was so surprised that he hardly knew to take it or not. Sanya doesn’t only have good vibes in her foot but also has a kind and warm heart, that’s for sure. At the race unfortunately, the Hungarian Éva Kaptur could not attend of health problems.

Men Triple Jump, Christian Taylor, the gold medalist at London had only one attempt to his triple jump and  off he went right to the top, the winner of the day with 17,30m. As Taylor said, if it would have been up to him, he would have shaken hands with each-and-every grand clapping and supportive audience. He was seen full of joy and as the music went on in the stadium he would have been jamming after his jumping. The Hungarian Tibor Galambos finished in the 7th place with 13.79 meters.

The sun was still extremely shinning at half-past five with temperature high in the 90s, but for the American Jason Richarson to do his 110 hurdles didn’t mean a thing. For him it was smooth as bread-and-butter and won the first place with 13.19 sec. Guess a man  living in Texas this was just a perfect warm day. Two Hungarians  Dániel Kiss  finished in the 4th place with 13.63 sec. and Balázs Baji in the 7th place with 13.76 sec.

Women 400m race was breathtaking. All the seven competitor naturally were running for their lives. The fastest Williams Shericka, from Jamaica won the race with 50.34 sec.

Men 3000m the winner was the Kenyain sportman Ndiku Caleb Mwangangi  with 7:35,41 mins. In this track the Hungarian Barabás Bene ran the 3000 meters in 8:16,88 mins. On the field this time were six runners from Kenya and one from Australia, but a pity the Mate „DNF”.

Women 3000m, Sylvia Jebiwot Kibet, from Kenya reach the  finish at 9:02.68 mins and gain the first place. From the seven runners, three  from Ethiopia and four from Kenya. What a sensational  unrepeatable runners were seen on the field.

Men 800m, the 17 years old „teenager” Timothy Kitum from Kenya won the race at 1:45.39 mins. Yes, his time is not a typo. We will surely hear and see him a lot in the future. Amazing how he „flys” the circles at the track. This race was a „Kenyaian” race with five competitors from Kenya.  Timothy Kitum  beside other nations sportsmen ran three Hungarians Tamás Kazi (7th), Péter Szemeti (8th) and István Kolossváry (10th).

The 400 meter Men race was breathtaking. The winner of this round was Solomon Jarrin from Trinidad and Tabago.  The Hungarian medalist winner at London Marcell Deák Nagy could not reach in the final to bring his result as in London, only finished in the 5th place with 46.68 sec. The israeli Donald Sanford finished in the 4th place, with his 46.23 sec. Tibor Kasa from Hungary came to the finish line at the 7th place with 46.93 sec.

In the Shot Put Women  the American, Michelle Carter made it, first at 18.84 m. The Hungarian Anita Marton performed  18.21 m and earned the 4th place.

Men 200m, the Jamaican Mario Forsythe touched the finish line at 20,33 sec. The Hungarian Tibor Kasa ran in at the 7th place with 21.54 sec.

The Long Jump Women results ended with the Belarus winner Nastassia Mironchik-Ivanova at 6,79 ms. Györgyi Farkas, the Hungarian long jumper finish at the 6th place with 6,24 m.

High Jump Men, Konstantinos Baniotis, from Greece was the winner in this number with 2,24 m.

The Hammer Thrower, Krisztián Pars was welcomed with hooray, cheers louder than the sound from the Amplifiers when his name was announced to come to the hammer throw position. Of course the Hungarians just couldn’t get enough of seeing him personally, especially those who came by car, train from the four corners of  Hungary just to see  and be together breathing the same air with the Hungarian gold medalist hammer thrower at the Gyulai István Memorial Athletics GP at the Puskás Ferenc Stadion in Budapest. Krisztián Pars competed with six other outstanding sportsmen: 2nd Sergey Litvinov RUS, 3rd  Lukas Melich CZE, 4th Kirill Ikonnikov RUS, 5th Ali Mohamed Al Zenkawi KUV, 6th Alaksandr Dryhol UKR and 7th Andras Haklits CRO.

Due to the Best Performance, the Best Athlete of the Day, Dr. Bojidar Spiriev handed over the Trophy to champion Jason Richardson, American sprinter who achieved the 110 meters hurdles in 13.19 sec.

Mr. János Ader, President and Mr. Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister both one-by-one congratulated to each attendees. The President, János Ader welcomed the audience by saying. ” We all came here to greet and express our thanks to the athletes who all achieved a sensational victory and the same time gave us heartwarming, unforgettable two weeks following them at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.   At the end of his speech he said: ” I wish all our sportsmen and sportswomen a lot of success within  their preparation tasks in the forthcoming 4 years just like they did  before the London’s  Summer Olympics 2012. Wee deeply hope on the grandstands and tribunes at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in 2016 there will be many loudly cheering: BRING IT ON …  GO FOR IT HUNGARIAN!

After the President ended his speech Ms. Erika Miklósa, Kossuth-awarded singer, sang the Hungarian national anthem.

At the ending of the celebration an open top Robur bus (The Robur company was founded in 1988 by Karl Gustav Hiller, the first model came out in 1961 at a Motorshow in Leipzig, former DDR) made its way to the stadium and the olympic champions all got abroad and where drove around the stadium to greet the audience, then after tricolor colors  of the national  flag  stars sprinkled fireworks lighten up the ceremony. See you at the event next year in 2013.
