NATIONAL GALLOP RACE – 2012.

Gosh, time surely runs or should I say gallop fast, as you wish. Another year is here again and the Heroes’ Square (I am most sure spending a couple of day at Budapest, the tourist know the roundabouts  very well)  soon will be covered by golden sand, no, no not because of construction works! The environment at the Heroes’ Square will be turned into a racetrack, whereas horse riders will show their best riding skills and not to mention the beauty of their horses.  The festive of massive attraction will on the platform for the arrangements to this year’s 5th occasion to be held the National Gallop. Take this as a herald news and to mark the day in your diary: September 14-16. For tourists who are staying in Budapest and those diplomats, business ladies and gents, all foreigners temporary staying in Budapest to be, to see, beside many attractions, the Hungarian long gone tradition of the Hussars kept alive at the National Gallop Race.

As it was said at to-day’s official  participating towns and villages drawing to the National Gallop Race, held at the Museum of Military History:  “This outstanding event stands for four reasons:  Preserving Traditions, Cultural, Entertainment, Uniting Collaboration.

It ain’t easy when, just like in any country which  has a bit of a lack of economics feed, then the culture often gets cut and it suffers, but we all are aware of these symptoms, and thanks to our sponsor whom recognized the important of the patriot race gave their support. By these aids the organisers wish to continue, keep alive the Hungarian Hussar traditions by holding the National Gallop event. As many history lovers may know and for those just getting into it,  the hussar tradition is a huge chapter of the country’s history ever since the XVIth century, the time of the Hungarian  Renaissance. Yes indeed, this is just one of the “Hungaricum” to be worthwhile to show the tourist,  foreigners temporary living, working in Hungary, but to show the world Hungary was not only famous of its well-know breeds of  its kind, but of its grand horse riders as well.

The Heroes’ Square by itself  represents a long time past history of the Hungarian statehood. The Square holds an awesome visual environment showing the horse statue, also up high  the angel monument prophesied by King St. Stephen, furthermore the standing proudly “Seven Chiefs” historic kings and heroes.

In between the qualifying rounds, there will be outstanding programs to be seen: hussars, outlaws, dressage demonstration,  the Mayors carriage driving competition, actors  racing, dames horse riding,  the Little Hussar gallop, the Chariot Gallop, Celebrity Charity Race and there will be Cart Pushing Competition, but need not have to worry of  getting Hungry in between. The Hungarian kitchen won’t be missing on the spot with spicy and non-spicy dishes and drinks  to comfort  the visitors needs. May known or not yet: Hungary, drinks its own wine, their Palinka, eats its traditional Hungarian food, sweets … do you wish more, then have to visit the National Gallop and you name it what was the best in taste within every senses of yours.

Looking ahead into the future Mr. Vilmos  Lázár, the Hungarian Horse Association and President of the National Gallop, emphasized they are looking to the future expansion of equestrian competition, involving foreign countries as to represent their city and join the Gallop Festival  here in Budapest. Mr. Lázár was happy to say, this year for the first time from the other side of the border, Transylvania also joined the Race. He continued: “In this spirit,  with pleasure wish the presence of other foreign countries in the future to participate at the National Gallop races”

Last year, I recognized from my update readers, many came and spent their holidays in Budapest, connected to the arrangements of the National Gallop. Hope this year many will find their delight anf pleasure at this event.

I am sure, I am not on my own saying, those folks who will not be at  the Hereos’ Square between 14-16 of September will miss much and will not be able to see, another event like this, will have to wait for 365 days to be present at such a superb race.
