One of the headlines was expressed by Ildikó Kiss KárolynéFounder of the Value and Quality Grand Prize Contest said „Q”.: “It is common knowledge that businesses do not only create financial value. Their development and innovation potential can therefore not only be evaluated from an economic point of view, but we must also recognize their social and community role. The predecessor of the Value and Quality Grand Prix Certification Trademark, the Hungarian Product Grand Prix Certification Trademark, was launched in the spring of 1998. The founder of the Value and Quality Grand Prize Competition continued: „Q.”: “It is common knowledge that businesses do not only create financial value. Their development and innovation potential can therefore not only be evaluated from an economic point of view, but we must also recognize their social and community role. Quality certification with trademarks goes back more than a quarter of a century. The predecessor of the Value and Quality Grand Prix Certification Trademark, the Hungarian Product Grand Prix Certification Trademark, was launched in the spring of 1998. In 2018 trademark was extended to the entire Carpathian region, followed by the modern Value and Quality Grand Prix Certification Trademark, which can also be introduced internationally.

Dr. János Latorcai – Vice-president of the Parliament and the main patron of the event – said „Q”.: „We all experience and feel that something is changing in our world. More and more people believe that regardless of the outcome of the war, fundamental changes will occur in the international economic and political system, many are already talking about the reversal of globalization. It is difficult to predict how profound all these changes will be, but it is certain that the capacity for self-sufficiency will be appreciated, and this is impossible without innovative domestic enterprises. Successful support programs must therefore be continued. The purpose of the Value and Quality Grand Prize Tender System is to recognize the high quality level of goods and services that qualify for the tender, to promote the production of goods of outstanding quality and high added intellectual value that are competitive on the international market, and to encourage the development of services. Its important task is to help consumers make quality-conscious choices, to contribute to the development and distribution of health-conscious, energy-efficient products and services with its tool system. It supports the emergence of knowledge-based products and the establishment of enterprises operating in intellectual property-intensive industries, and serves the development of active quality policy of manufacturers, distributors and service providers.”

János Árpád Potápi – State Secretary responsible for national policy at the Prime Minister’s Office, said „Q”.: „We have been working for the thirteenth year now on the creation of a unified Carpathian basin – and within that a unified economic space. Thus, it gives me great pleasure that since 2016, the products of several foreign Hungarian entrepreneurs have also been among the award winners. This is a great example of the quality and togetherness that Hungarians represent with their work in the Carpathian Basin, and even worldwide. I am confident that in the spirit of our national unity and the cross-border cooperation of Hungarian entrepreneurs, this year we will once again be able to welcome Hungarian applicants from abroad, with whom we can raise our region together as one nation.”

Sándor Farkas– Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture put it following regarding the application. “Q”.: “During the pandemic, we experienced how vulnerable nations are to each other in today’s globalized world, and within them, we humans. The war further increased this and at the same time proved that the complete abandonment of self-determination and self-sufficiency of nations means a vulnerability that no responsible leadership of any country can afford.”

Miracle Rabbis & Jewish Cemetery at the Village of Mád.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Namely you may already know that the City of Tokaj gave its name to … The Wine of the Kings – The King of Wines. Here using century-old technology, the basis of which is the late harvesting of dried grapes and the subsequent special winemaking process. Even more special than assú is Tokaj essence (a.k.a. nectar or natural essence), which means a very thick juice that flows out and is captured under its own weight during the storage of assú grains.)

Here whereas the landscape of the River Tiszta meets the River Bodrog is the subland with its hills. The path leads for the way of themore of the Miracle Rabbis and Jewish Cemetery at the Village of Mád, whereas situated the miraculous Rabbi’s Grave a.k.a. respected place of pilgrimage is the still functioning synagogue. Pilgrims from all over the world come to a MÁD – Hungarian village to visit the tomb of the miracle rabbi. Tombstones from 200 to 300 years old can be found in the well-kept cemetery surrounded by a stone fence.

In the 16-17 century, Jewish families took over the distribution of wine from Greek merchants. They played a major role in the modernization of viticulture and wine production, and in the distribution of the kosher wines. In the rest of Hegyalja: the religious community was usually established in the 18th-19th century, and as it grew stronger, synagogues, baths, houses of worship, and schools were built – however, all of these were not revived after the Holocaust, and in many cases the buildings were not even saved, however, there are exceptions. In Tokaj, at the cost of a decade-long struggle, the synagogue, Tarcal, became a cultural center – retaining its character – by the new owner, who saved it, renovated it and made it open to the public as a gallery. In Bodrogkeresztúr, only the mass of the building remained, and it was at the service of nature conservation. At the same time, today the only functioning Jewish house of worship in Hegyalja can be found in Tokaj. At Bodrogkeresztúr each guard the graves of several well-known rabbis. The most famous is certainly the latter: at the top of Dereszla Hill, admirers – not only Hasidic – make a pilgrimage to the “ohel”– protected grave of “Reb Sájele”, or Rabbi Jesá Steiner, who is revered as a miracle rabbi. His former house, where they always cooked for fifty people so that no one left the rabbi hungry, is now open to pilgrims again.

Here are the graves of the religious community’s famous rabbis: Ábrahám Schwartz DPOB 1824-1883 – Mád, was one of the leading Hungarian rabbis of the 19th century. Wrote only one work titled Kol Aryeh, but it has influence on the rabbis of Hungary and religous foregniers. The Kol Aryeh synagogue in Mád is located in the heart of the village, in an easily accessible location. Mordeháj Winkler, who died in 1932 is also buried here. Pilgrims from all over the world come to a MÁD to the Hungarian village to visit the tomb of the miracle rabbi. To approach The Kol Aryeh synagogue in Mád is located in the heart of the village, in an easily accessible location.

Mád the village is not only famous for its stunning surroundings and gastronomy, but also excels in culture and traditions. Mád’s Jewry … The Jewish ethnic group arrived in the area at the beginning of the 17th century and immediately got involved in local public life, as well as in the grape and wine trade. The Catholic, Israelite and Protestant population lived together peacefully, but the Holocaust completely put an end to this. Only 40 of the 230 Jews of Mád returned. They created the community in 1947 and elected a rabbi. Over time, however, fewer-and-fewer people remained in the area, until finally, in 1994, the last Jewish resident of Mád died.

The Synagogue in Mád was built by Italian masters in 1795 in a baroque style, and the interior is well decorated with Polish-Lithuanian influences.

Mád is still a prominent meeting point among Jews. Kol Aryeh SynagogueMád already had a

in 1771, but the religious center, the unique Baroque style is considered one of the most beautiful synagogues in Hungary, was built in the settlement only in 1795 by Italian masters. The 130-seat building has four supporting columns and a beautiful dome above the lake reader. After the number of local Jews decreased by 90% due to the Holocaust, the council created apartments in the rabbi’s house and left the synagogue to waste. The building was not only neglected, but also ransacked, and the books and furniture found there were burned. Thanks to the Jewish Heritage Grant program of the World Monuments Fund in New York, the restoration work of the building, which had been completely destroyed by then, could begin in 2000, in April 2004, the beautiful synagogue, which can still be seen today, was handed over.

The professional retouching of the place won the Europa Nostra diploma in 2005. Approach The Kol Aryeh synagogue in Mád is located in the heart of the village, in an easily accessible location.

The beautiful Baroque Synagogue served the local Jewish population for over 150 years. Restoration of the building was completed in 2004. The carpenters carved to leave their mark with the Star of David to each row of benches as a sign of their respect.

Had excellent two tour guide at Bodrogkeresztúr about Steiner Sajele miracle rabbi tomb by dr. Szonja Komoróczy, by Mariann Frank – Head of the rabbinical house of Mádi presentation on the Mádi rabbis and Yiddish correspondence. The tour ended with a kosher solet lunch by Eszter Fűszeres.

It’s the Year of the Rabbit … on your mark … get reading … Go for it!

Every country has what to do, what to eat and what not to eat and do on the first day of the New Year. In Hungary, according to the Gregorian calendar, focuses on religions and folklore, on the first day of the year, lentils are the main lucky bringer, for example: “lentil soup or heavy lentil soup (lencsleves) in other words, lentil stew, lentil burgers.  lentil stew - lencsfőzelék Of course, this tradition is kept not only in Hungary, but also in many other countries … Spaniards, Portuguese, Cubans and the Austrians also. Now back to the the Lunar New Year, which is celebrated primarily by Chinese diasporas and other East Asian cultures as well as the Vietnamese, begin this Sunday, January, 22.2023., kicking off 15 days of festivities and customs.

While the preceding Year of the Tiger was seen as a powerful period of action, and at this time, impulse, the rabbit sign which is expected to usher in a softer period focused on self-reflection.

For example, stop cleaning today and hide your cleaning tools, otherwise you will be cleaning all year long. Wear new clothes and get rid of old ones. Today, it is not allowed to pronounce words with a negative meaning, to mention death, illness, ghosts, but even in a positive context, we avoid negative words (for example, “damn good”). It is also not recommended to mention the past year, as the purpose of the day is to bring abundance in the new year. So they say crying is also not allowed: if someone cries on the first day of the year, he will cry for the whole year, which is why the sick also get out of bed on this day.

If you decorate today, red and orange are the mandatory colors: red is the color of abundance, luck, wealth, so red flags, wall stickers, pictures, lanterns are placed everywhere to ensure the growth of the family, and next to the red decorations, the New Year an essential ingredient is orange. This is because the words “mandarin” – kam, “gold”  kam) and “sweet” sound the same in the Cantonese dialect. Because it symbolizes health and longevity, peanuts are also often found on New Year’s tables. An important New Year’s accessory is the octagonal tray, on which guests are offered eight types of snacks. All of these bring good luck: rice flour cake – kao, for example, sounds the same as “high” – kao, so it symbolizes that its consumer will move up the social ladder in the new year. For similar reasons, seaweed symbolizes enrichment, lotus seeds the bountiful blessing of children, and dried tofu (soybean cheese) symbolizes wealth and happiness. Wish to my readers a lucky Year of the Rabbit!

In actuality, the creature on display is indeed a man, twenty-one-year-old Joseph “John” Merrick, who has several physical deformities, including an oversized and disfigured skull, and an oversized and disfigured right shoulder. Brutish Bytes, his “owner”, only wants whatever he can get economically by presenting Merrick as a freak. Treves manages to bring Merrick under his care at the hospital, not without several of his own obstacles, including being questioned by those in authority since Merrick cannot be cured. Treves initially believes Bytes’ assertion that mute Merrick is an imbecile, but ultimately learns that Merrick can speak and is a well-read and articulate man. As news of Merrick hits the London newspapers, he becomes a celebrated curiosity among London’s upper class, including with Mrs. Kendal, a famed actress. Despite being treated much more humanely, the question becomes whether Treves’ actions are a further exploitation of Merrick. And as Merrick becomes more famous, others try to get their two-cents worth from who still remains a curiosity and a freak to now, including to Bytes, who has since lost his meal ticket. Actually, his story is both moving and sad, as a result of the complications he lived only 27 years.

David Lynch, the directors of Twin Peaks, Lost World, Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet, nominated for 8 Oscars, and his visionary story, which was brought to black-and-white film.
