CELEBRATION OF THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AFRICA FOUNDATION.

Ten years of hard work.

Ten African countries to be visited.

When anybody hears about the 3rd World, the first thing that pops through their mind in hunger and poverty.

Late morning hours of to-day, journalists and media representatives were invited on occasion of the celebration to the Africa Foundation 10thanniversary. It was it was doubly underlined, the word help doesn’t always mean giving financial support. Love, care, attention doesn’t cost a thing.  It was also stated, that  throughout the years many Hungarian volunteers visited and attended building projects in Congo.

Mr. France Mutombo, Chairman of the Foundation for Africa opened the press conference by greeting the arrived press and media representatives saying the following: “The word AFRICA means:“SUNSHINE.” and perhaps can be said the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa, is the “brightest” country within their incredible amounts of minerals which hides beneath the land. The inhabited gorillas, rain forests, beautiful mountains, great lakes, incredibly colorful wildlife, villages are all outstanding sights, that went through the terrible civil wars and turning millions loss of life.”

“In the name of Support NOW…”

Some known media personalities and the chief patrons of a series of events who have had been and left their footprints in Africa also arrived to participate at the press conference connected to the 10th year celebration of the Africa Foundation. The foundation has been and has continually projects to buildup schools, whereas the local young adults can open their minds and learn. Of course they cannot build a school, a hospital, an orphan house with the use of reeds, treetops or leaves. Bricks are made for proper building.  A grand support can be giving just by buying one or a couple of bricks (the more, the sooner it will be in use) which will at the end stand as a building.

One of to-day’s  focus  was  to introduce how can someone give their support to ”BUY A BRICK AND HAVE YOUR MARK ON IT” project. During the presentation we were shown how simple  the “online giving” is.

Ms. Éva Barabás, Leader repertoire at the “Focus” program on the Hungarian Television –  Channel RTV Club joined the buy a brick and make it personal, by buying four brick and signing thoughts online  the bought bricks together with the present audience at the press gathering.

Mr. France Mutombo, President of the Foundation for Africa, held a live demonstration of how any individual is able to show their support through the Internet connection by saying: “If you agree with our aims and you would like to support our Foundation, you can contribute to our work in several ways. Support for projects, support for students and orphans, can also carry out direct financial support, operational support. We hope you will find the most convenient solution to support us.”

The 10th year celebration of the Foundation of Africa was also connected with the presentation ceremony of the “Good Examples Award” and handed over to the those individuals who have done much to show their care by participating in, projects, prepared television reports in the past and in recent times.

As to the celebration of  the 10th anniversary, the non-profit organization is launching several exciting humanitarian trips to ten countries. Starting in October when wide open doors and windows to Africa can be visited in the frame of  “Humanitarian Tourism in Africa”  The visited country’s will be: Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, South Africa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Could it be a more of an unforgettable experience to add to the celebration to the 10th anniversary than visiting the landscapes of  the SUNSHINE land. Here are the dates  and countries: 1-7, October,Ethiopia.  8–21, October,Kenya–Uganda–Rwanda–South-Africa.  22, October–1,  November, Tanzania( 10 Days).  2-9,  November, Tanzania („low-cost”). 8-30 November, Tanzania–Malawi–Zambia–Botswana–South Africa.  2–12, December,  Democratic Republic of the Congo. The costs would be 220.000 HUF,  plus flight expenses.

At the end of the press conference followed a reception, whereas African delights awaited the invited guests. Every visitor, personally could have their own experience of the unique flavors brought right from the grounds, of Africa.

Interesting flavors from Congo which really wasn’t strange in taste for us Hungarians. The fried banana eaten with mayonnaise is an everyday food in Congo, they aren’t the usual bananas that are bought here from the areas of South- America to Hungary. They a huge, much bigger and have to be peeled with a knife, at least that is what I was told.Very delecious I must say.  The Congo’s potatoes are huge bulbs. In Congo they, just like the grain are ground up, cooked as the mashed potatoes. Here we could  seasoned it with salt. The Congo tea’s  leaves were twice the size of a thumb. Served very hot, just  great at Budapest’s 29C in shade, but really an interesting smooth light taste similar to the “red root tea”

Last but not least, three teenagers, two girls and one boy were introduced to the press representatives. They will be shortly going to Congo as volunteer workers.

Leaving the press gathering was a kinda feeling being on a study tour to Congo. High and low figures were told, yet very interesting World. And as  the President  said: “Hungary is also a neighbouring country to Congo, even though the distance is far, we all are neighbours because we live altogether on one Planet.

NATIONAL GALLOP DAYS WITH DAMES HORSE RIDERS AT THE HORSEVILLE IN BUDAPEST

 September, 14 to 16.  2012.  National Gallop, the country’s largest outdoor event of the year!

September 14 to 16. 2012. National Gallop will be taking place beside other superb and spectacular elements, the Dames Riding in which the participants ladies will show their  horse riding sporty side with their elegant and feminine side. On the program there will be riding on saddle, seated in the chariot.

This afternoon went to the Budapest Operetta and Musical Theater, whereas at the Hall of Protocol,  Hungary’s well-known, famous ladies gain a chance to choose their desired outfit to the forthcoming National Gallop. So the ladies did not have had to dress for hours, as men usually think so, this time it just took only a couple of minutes or should I say only 2 minutes and ladies with their the Dames riding dress rehearsal ended. They really took off the hangers just what their senses told them. They sure had the touch for it and at the rocking show will be seen how elegant and feminine a Dames equestrian can be. From the five  Dames equestrians only three of them could make it to the dress rehearsal: Ms. Dancs Annamária, Ms. Enikő Détár and Ms. Bernadett Vágó, the other two ladies Ms. Anna Peller and  Ms. Veca Janicsák, Ms. Annamari a Székely were  occupied with other tasks at the time being to make it to-day, but will find their own style and show theirDames Riders  identity at the Hereo’s Square during the National Gallop Day.

Ain’t telling no secret by saying Ms. Annamari a Székely and Ms.  Bernadett Vágó will be rolling along on the wheels, sitting on a chariot. While  Ms. Enikő Détár as a non-racer, will spots on a female horse saddle and will lope around the sandy field. The  ladies, or should I say the Dames will show how to show up, to behave like a lady at corporate events.

In a couple of days, September 14 – 16  at the Heroes’ Square of  Budapest becomes ARENA of  HORSEVILLE!

This year’s National Gallop promises many exciting new features, along with the usual high professional standards.

This will be the  5th year of  the National Gallop and  again horses, charity race, lady riders, will be galloping, racing around the statues out on display of famous heroes  in the  Hungarian History.

To join the events are free of charge!
Tickets only needed and are available to the grandstands and VIP area at any Ticket Express Office.

The organizers are working at full blast to show the visitors with pleasure the largest, unforgettable outdoor event in Hungary.

Who ain’t going to be there, will be left out of the biggest and unique event of the year.

TWO HIGHLIGHT OF EVENTS:

FIFTEEN ILLUSTRATED BOOKS BY ISRAELI CHILDREN

and

 EXHIBITION SHOWING THE VALUABLE COLLECTION OF FAMOUS JEWISH MANUSCRIPTS AND JEWISH CEREMONIAL ITEMS FROM: ISRAEL, MAROCCO, PERSIA, INDIA…

Due to the Jewish Summer Festival, Budapest becomes the European capital not only for the Hungarian Jewish people living in the country, foreigners temporary staying in Hungary or people just arriving from abroad to enjoy the Jewish culture and art by participating at the amazing choice of performances, like the klezmer urban and pop music, classics and jazz productions, concerts and exhibitions.

Early afternoon of to-day at the Metropolitan “Ervin Szabó” Library, the largest library network in Budapest, Dr. Peter Fodor, Director-General opened two exhibitions organised in  the frame of the Jewish Summer Festival. On the occasion of the opening, the director-general greeted his Excellency, Mr. Ilan Mor, the Ambassador to Hungary from Israel, Mr. István Tarlós, Lord Major of Budapest and all the appeared public together with the media and press parties.

Excellency, Mr. Ilan Mor, the Ambassador to Hungary from Israel said: “The childhood illustrations belongs to our unforgettable memories of our lives. These memories remain within us and we carry them with pleasure from our childhood onwards to our adulthood. In this sence we are all most probably holding them the same way in each corner of  our planet.” He also expressed, it is such a pleasure to hold this exhibition on the occasion of the 15th Jewish Summer Festival in this extremely beautiful land of books and have high hopes young and elder people will enjoy visiting this exhibition by reaching out to get acquainted with the wayback past and near past in the history of Israel.

“Past and Future” …  Is the title of one of the leading  journals of the Hungarian Jews and one of the largest Jewish publishing houses in Hungary and this exhibition has received the same title which is opened from to-day to the public to see during the period of the Summer Jewish Festival. These two exhibitions opening at the same time involves both the past and  future within the cultural and historical significance in the form of manuscripts and religious objects and our aim is to  focus on the illustrations, drawings within the books by israeli children, said by Dr. Peter Fodor, Director-general, also expressed his thanks for the  superb support coming from Jerusalem, the Israel Museum, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel  and the Embassy of the State of Israel in Hungary. As he said:  “happy to be a part in the series of this year’s 15th anniversary of the Jewish Summer Festival, by showing an insight into Israel’s thousand-years-old society and history and hopefully to some extent into its future as well.”

“The Jewish  Summer Festival focus all our senses, brings us closer to the Jewish culture, art,  songs and those traditional rhythm  in Hungary.  Some members of the Hungarian Jewish community’s marked many-many names: Miklós Radnóti, Antal Szerb, Frigyes Karinthy, István Örkény, Dénes Gábor, here  just mentioning a few of  outstanding figures.The Jewish documents and ceremonial relics showed artificial memories of the Jewish past”, these were the opening words of  Mr. István Tarlós, Lord Major of Budapest, and continued by saying:” To-day, if we step inside any of the open synagogues for example, the Óbuda Synagogue, we will see, meet the same objects as seen here.” Also Mr. Tarlós went back a bit in time by saying: “In the 2nd  half of the 19th century, following the Austro-Hungarian Compromise in 1967 when it was absolutely the golden age of the Jewish-Hungarian cohabitation, within the fields of industry, trading, services and the bank system. The Hungarian Jewry has done its share far beyond the population  size of this community. On the territories also inhabited by minorities, like in Transylvania, the Hungarian community has gained majority together with the “Hungarianised” Jewry of  Transylvania.  However, after the Treaty of Trianon this situation has dramatically changed. In public thinking the place of the Jewry living  in reality, has been replaced by phantoms and also prejudices were tailored for these phantoms. This era, with the numerous clauses at the beginnings has come to an end during the Holocaust, with the death of 600 thousand Hungarian Jews. This was not only the tragedy of the Jewry, but also of the Hungarian community at the same time. It  has been (in a way still is) an unacceptable, raw and traumatic experience for the Jewry  and the Hungarians.”  He also continued his thoughts by saying: “After the WW2 the Hungarian democracy was replaced by the great dictatorship “blasting” into Hungary from Moscow. The communist era had placed silence, repressed and trampled in grief each-and-every opinion and any thought which was incompatible with Moscow’s idea or will. Over the 40 years not just the word Jew, but also the Holocaust was considered as a taboo”  However, when  the political  change entered Hungary and the country became a free state, the anti-Semitic ideas and the way of thinking has reared its head again, as if previously there wasn’t at all the Holocaust era. Mr. Tarlós last but not least added the following: “Even though more than two decades have passed since the political change in Hungary. Still no real talk-overs were conducted and there was no elaboration of it up to this date.”

” I believe” said Mr. István Tarlós, ” We are making progress by taking small step-by-step at a time and hopefully these two exhibitions, which have arrived as a gift from the Embassy of the State of Israel in Budapest will take us forward in acquainting and understanding much better the Jewry.”

AUGUST, 20 – GYULAI ISTVÁN MEMORIAL ATHLETICS GP – THE GRAND DAY AT THE PUSKÁS STADION BUDAPEST

 Krisztián Pars Olympic Champion once again gain a victory by throwing his hammer away to the distance of  79.74 meters. 

This year the two Gyulai brothers, VIP’s at the Hungarian Athletics Federation,  Miklós Gyulai, the President  and Márton Gyulai, Secretary General, Organiser of the Gyulai István Memorial Athletic GP set themselves up this year in reaching two main goals with the arrangements connected to the Gyulai István Memorial Athletics GP. Their first goal was to continue  the GP under the name of their father, Gyulai István, former sportman and worldwide known sport diplomat  and to commemorate to their father with arranging the second year of  the Gyulai István Memorial Atletics GP here in Budapest on the field by the not less known name as at the Puskás Ferenc Stadion. Second goal was to achieve that high stirling atmosphere again that was in  the athletics life during the ’80s in  Budapest by  bringing on stage together to celebrate the Hungarian olympic champions of  to-day and the past olympic games.

Was an excellent thought, not just because  the last time the Puskás Ferenc stadion was filled with so many viewers was a long gone era in the 90s, but to see again those olympic champions (that somehow on the way got out of our sight) was a perfect timing, especially if your old enough to remember these champions great performances.

Close to twenty thousand sport fans were able to watch live on the spot the best-of-the-best sportsmen and sportwomen coming over from  the London’s  Summer Olympic Games  just at their fingertips.

The stars-of-the-stars, the Queen of Sprinters was (sure you know by now who it will be!) Yes, Sanya Richards-Ross the four-time olympic champion, ran on 200 meters at (22.70 sec.) At the award ceremony, she also received a bouquet of flowers and as she stepped down from the podium, she went aside to give the flowers to a little boy and he was so surprised that he hardly knew to take it or not. Sanya doesn’t only have good vibes in her foot but also has a kind and warm heart, that’s for sure. At the race unfortunately, the Hungarian Éva Kaptur could not attend of health problems.

Men Triple Jump, Christian Taylor, the gold medalist at London had only one attempt to his triple jump and  off he went right to the top, the winner of the day with 17,30m. As Taylor said, if it would have been up to him, he would have shaken hands with each-and-every grand clapping and supportive audience. He was seen full of joy and as the music went on in the stadium he would have been jamming after his jumping. The Hungarian Tibor Galambos finished in the 7th place with 13.79 meters.

The sun was still extremely shinning at half-past five with temperature high in the 90s, but for the American Jason Richarson to do his 110 hurdles didn’t mean a thing. For him it was smooth as bread-and-butter and won the first place with 13.19 sec. Guess a man  living in Texas this was just a perfect warm day. Two Hungarians  Dániel Kiss  finished in the 4th place with 13.63 sec. and Balázs Baji in the 7th place with 13.76 sec.

Women 400m race was breathtaking. All the seven competitor naturally were running for their lives. The fastest Williams Shericka, from Jamaica won the race with 50.34 sec.

Men 3000m the winner was the Kenyain sportman Ndiku Caleb Mwangangi  with 7:35,41 mins. In this track the Hungarian Barabás Bene ran the 3000 meters in 8:16,88 mins. On the field this time were six runners from Kenya and one from Australia, but a pity the Mate „DNF”.

Women 3000m, Sylvia Jebiwot Kibet, from Kenya reach the  finish at 9:02.68 mins and gain the first place. From the seven runners, three  from Ethiopia and four from Kenya. What a sensational  unrepeatable runners were seen on the field.

Men 800m, the 17 years old „teenager” Timothy Kitum from Kenya won the race at 1:45.39 mins. Yes, his time is not a typo. We will surely hear and see him a lot in the future. Amazing how he „flys” the circles at the track. This race was a „Kenyaian” race with five competitors from Kenya.  Timothy Kitum  beside other nations sportsmen ran three Hungarians Tamás Kazi (7th), Péter Szemeti (8th) and István Kolossváry (10th).

The 400 meter Men race was breathtaking. The winner of this round was Solomon Jarrin from Trinidad and Tabago.  The Hungarian medalist winner at London Marcell Deák Nagy could not reach in the final to bring his result as in London, only finished in the 5th place with 46.68 sec. The israeli Donald Sanford finished in the 4th place, with his 46.23 sec. Tibor Kasa from Hungary came to the finish line at the 7th place with 46.93 sec.

In the Shot Put Women  the American, Michelle Carter made it, first at 18.84 m. The Hungarian Anita Marton performed  18.21 m and earned the 4th place.

Men 200m, the Jamaican Mario Forsythe touched the finish line at 20,33 sec. The Hungarian Tibor Kasa ran in at the 7th place with 21.54 sec.

The Long Jump Women results ended with the Belarus winner Nastassia Mironchik-Ivanova at 6,79 ms. Györgyi Farkas, the Hungarian long jumper finish at the 6th place with 6,24 m.

High Jump Men, Konstantinos Baniotis, from Greece was the winner in this number with 2,24 m.

The Hammer Thrower, Krisztián Pars was welcomed with hooray, cheers louder than the sound from the Amplifiers when his name was announced to come to the hammer throw position. Of course the Hungarians just couldn’t get enough of seeing him personally, especially those who came by car, train from the four corners of  Hungary just to see  and be together breathing the same air with the Hungarian gold medalist hammer thrower at the Gyulai István Memorial Athletics GP at the Puskás Ferenc Stadion in Budapest. Krisztián Pars competed with six other outstanding sportsmen: 2nd Sergey Litvinov RUS, 3rd  Lukas Melich CZE, 4th Kirill Ikonnikov RUS, 5th Ali Mohamed Al Zenkawi KUV, 6th Alaksandr Dryhol UKR and 7th Andras Haklits CRO.

Due to the Best Performance, the Best Athlete of the Day, Dr. Bojidar Spiriev handed over the Trophy to champion Jason Richardson, American sprinter who achieved the 110 meters hurdles in 13.19 sec.

Mr. János Ader, President and Mr. Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister both one-by-one congratulated to each attendees. The President, János Ader welcomed the audience by saying. ” We all came here to greet and express our thanks to the athletes who all achieved a sensational victory and the same time gave us heartwarming, unforgettable two weeks following them at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.   At the end of his speech he said: ” I wish all our sportsmen and sportswomen a lot of success within  their preparation tasks in the forthcoming 4 years just like they did  before the London’s  Summer Olympics 2012. Wee deeply hope on the grandstands and tribunes at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in 2016 there will be many loudly cheering: BRING IT ON …  GO FOR IT HUNGARIAN!

After the President ended his speech Ms. Erika Miklósa, Kossuth-awarded singer, sang the Hungarian national anthem.

At the ending of the celebration an open top Robur bus (The Robur company was founded in 1988 by Karl Gustav Hiller, the first model came out in 1961 at a Motorshow in Leipzig, former DDR) made its way to the stadium and the olympic champions all got abroad and where drove around the stadium to greet the audience, then after tricolor colors  of the national  flag  stars sprinkled fireworks lighten up the ceremony.  During August, 20  the greatest national holiday for Hungarians, it will be the land of plenty!

Get ready for a whole day of  celebrating long with festivities ending with the spectacular fireworks not just in Budapest but throughout the country. August, 20 commemorates the foundation of the Hungarian state, it is like the 4th of July for the Hungarians. Also called as St. Stephen’s Day, remembering Stephen I, the first king of Hungary and founder of the Kingdom of Hungary, who was canonized on August 20th in 1083 by the Pope Gregory VII and also is the “New Bread Day” when the bread is made of the year’s harvest of wheat.

This year as a part of this national holiday, the Gyulai István Memorial Athletic Grand Prix was added to the series of celebrations.

  2012 Summer Olympic Games of London the Hungarian sportlife and athletics have gained outstanding results and hopefully tomorrow we will able to deliver  some more outstanding results!

The heartbeats go beating stronger-and-stronger from 2.p.m. till 8 p.m. inside the Puskás Stadion!

During in the late morning hours at the Hotel Arena, just a „short sprint” to-and-from the Puskás Ferenc Stadion was held a conference for the media representatives to be announced what will be expected for the visitors arriving to the Gyulai Istvan Memorial Athletic GP. The press conference was opened by Mr. Péter Deutsch, Chairman of the Organizing Committee. Last year was the 1st  Gyulai István Memorial Athletic GP which was a historic event. As the logo says „The Legends Continues”, whereas 5 Olimpia gold medals, 8 World Champions and many more medal winners  are already here in Budapest to be attending at this Grand Prix.

“This Gyulai István Memorial Athletic GP is a dignified remembrance of my father and heartwarming to have it organized and brought to the scene again” said by Mr. Márton Gyulai, Director of the Gyulai István Memorial Race.

Mr. Attila Spiriev, Director of the István Gyulai Memorial Sports  welcomed the press and media representative and was glad to announce that there will be not only winners on the field, but also up sitting on stands to be as one at the Stadium. Hopefully tomorrow will  see  awesome results by remarkable sportsmen and sportladies on the field. He also added it will be Mr. Peter Deutsch’s, Chairman of the Organizing committee birthday. Believe it or not  he really made the timing connected to celebrate his birthday on the same day with this awesome sporty day at the 2nd Gyulai István Memorial Athletic Grand Prix. Mr. Spiriev brought up the attention to spread the news along, as: “We were able to succeed the access to a non cost event for everyone who wish to be present at this year’s celebration together with those who have brought and shared a lot of success and happiness for the Hungarians and Hungary.” I would personally call it this event “Little Olympia with the Big Stars in Budapest”.  And as he continued: “Still maybe some free entry tickets to the GP at the Ticket  Express Stands in the city. So who hasn’t got their own one yet, still can probably make it.” Talked about: “Sport is part of every national’s culture, and this is what we  want to contribute at our GP games. The day’s uplifting event will be the greeting of the grand sportsmen and sportladies as a part  of the ceremony at the Gyulai István Memorial Athletics GP event.” 

 Mr Attila Spiriev continued: “After 1996 with Balázs Kiss, as a former olympic champion  we once again  have a gold medalist, the Hungarian sportman  Mr. Krisztián Pars, the gold medalist of hammer throw at the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games. Krisztián Pars, Olympic champion hammer thrower said he wish to throw over 82 meters to improve his own personal result at the Grand Prix on 20th August. He told us: “Concerning my gold medal, this means the most for me. I have placed the benchmark as to reach it in my life. I’m very happy I succeeded my task. The most beautiful thing in the morning, as I wake up to know I am an Olympic champion. Not that I am not reminded of it by everyone I meet that I am the gold medal champion.” Pars says he is so pleased to get the opportunity to throw the hammer in front of his homeland audience. Added: “On Monday, August 20. I am expecting a better result from myself. I believe the 81 meter would be a realistically distance which somehow stuck in me at the London’s Summer Olympics.” He will be one of the highlights in the hammer throw and shinning star during the afternoon’s celebration.

Mr. Attila Spiriev continued by saying: “It was our great pleasure that we could welcome this time again Ms. Sanya Richard-Ross, as she accepted our invitation Ms. Sanya has reached  three multiplied three superb runs in London just a week ago and continued  her collection of medals at  the Stockholm Silver League Game. Sanya has won already 23 times shinning medals around the world since she pulled on her “sprinter shoes!”   Mr. Atitla Spiriev brought our attention to watch Ms. Yuliya Gushchina, the 5-times Russian champion who will also run within the battle of time together in the women 200 meters. Watch carefully, cause we talking about another grand sprinter who has the same millisec result in the 400 meter as Sanya Richard-Ross. This will be an extremely breathtaking race, so see how 200 meter women final results will be.”

Mr. Marcell Deák Nagy, runner, European Championship silver medalist runner, Hungarian record holder. He achieved this silver medal and so far no Hungarian has ever reached this high at any European Championship. He said: “I  am glad that after a such hard year of work  behind me, I could win the silver medal. Even though I didn’t think it could really happen.  What really meant a lot and awaited for in London was very much looking forward to do my best in front of  the sold out  stadion.” “Tomorrow, for the first time there will be an “African dumping” running on the field with Marcell Deák Nagy, as the only “pailface sportman” on the run.

Mr. Timothy Kitum, Kenyan middle distance runner, 2012 London Olympic bronze medalist. He is „the man” that ever ran 1:42:53 in 800 meters in the world. He won a silver medal in the 800 meters at the 2012 World Junior Championships in the Athletics at Barcelona, finishing second to Nigel Amos. The 17 years old teenager from Kenya blasted into the world of athletics. With his run 1:42.53 and timing stands in the line of number 10 in the World as the result of man ever running this fast. Kitum’s coach told him after the 2012 Olympic Games of London he can only go for one race in the near  future because of his young age and we are deeply delighted he chosen to be at Budapest at the Gyulai István Memorial GP and leaving out this time the Diamond League at Stockholm.  Breath a lot before his run, cause you will be holding back your breath when seeing  him running. When he was asked  at the press conference, since when did he decided to be a middle distance runner? His answer really brought a smile on everybody’s face in the room, by answering: “Only one year”, but he has been just running since 2009. Wow , divide the days and his time in running and you will get the figure of this  two-leg miracle! We will surely hear a lot of him in the future.

What a day to come in just a couple of  hours away, Mr. Jason Richardson, the hurdler from the United States of America accepted also the invitation to participate at the Gyulai István Memorial GP. He is a specialist in the 110 meter hurdles, so be ready to see a very-very fast sportsman. He spoke about his early day as a child. At his school the spark the light in being a hurdle at the age of twelve..Anyway,  his original plan was to be a layer. His sister who become a layer told him he has to learn day-and-night, ain’t an easy task. So he stepped aside from that thought and as  he said to-day at the press meeting: ”Who knows what tomorrow may bring, but for the time being, I wish to achieve and bring on surface the best in me. Could be after ending my career in hurdles, perhaps will go for academic studies of law.” Talking about “Superstitious” Jason knock on wood and spoke about the energy he has in his hair, therefore he said  “Ain’t going nowhere for a  haircut that’s for sure. My energy I receive  from the roots of my hair. Thank-you I am doing well with my Rasta hairstyle”.  He likes living his own way and style. Well hope he will show us tomorrow his style of winning the race!

Mr. Christian Taylor, triple jumper, the Olympic and World Champion, an American track and field athlete who competes in the triple jump and has already a personal record of 17.96 meters. At the age 17, he won the long jump bronze medal at the 2007 World Youth Championships in Athletics. Thereafter, he followed his national title by winning with his triple jump at the 2011 World Championship  and upsetting him in the field with the 10th best jump in history. He also competes in the long  jumps (with his best of  8.19 meters) and is also high within the sprints. Also by several jumps, “jumping” over to Budapest from the 2012 Summer Olympics games in London he will be seen at the Gyulai István Memorial Athletics GP.  Taylor talked about how important for him is the religion. He believes his success is granted from  God that shows his  path for him. Religion means a lot for him, always was a believer throughout his life.  As he said: “I feel very blessed to be in service to God.”

Just a thought regarding the near past, on the 5th of August, 2012 at the Summer Olympic in London, was the „golden” day for Sanya Richards-Ross, by winning the women’s 400 meters in 49.55.

Coming up to the present day, last but not least! I left to the end of my update to keep up the reading . The Queen of sprinter, four-time Olympic champion  Ms Sanya Richards-Ross is here again in Budapest! A day after the Stockholm’s Diamond League, now it is the second occasion she flew over to Budapest to be on the „sprinter start line” on the 20th of August, at the 2nd Gyulai István Memorial Athletic GP. As she said at the press gathering: “My dream came true in London as to win the gold medal in singles”. This thought of her’s  expressed  it all!

It was great to see her again, smiling as always, suppose it has a lot to do to her Kingston roots. She surely wears her delicate smile and her necklace, with the golden bullet medal received from her Mum from way back in time , as she was a runner as the  bullet fly in her young age.  I hope the gunpowder in the bullet will give her the strength be a shooting star at her sprint of tomorrow.

Just wish to share a nice talk I had this morning with Sanya’s father, as he was telling me: „Last year when Sanya told me she is going to participate at the Gyulai István Memorial Atlantic GP to be taken place at the Stadion named after the famous Hungarian football player „Puskás”, I was deeply envying her to be at the stadium named after a legend in the world of football. That was when she promised me, the next time she will be invited to come to the Puskás Ferenc Stadion, to the athletics fields in Budapest she will bring me along.” Her father has deep love and memories of the one-and-only famous Hungarian sportsman, the man with the brand name „Puskás.” So here he was also at the press conference and I was so pleased to see Sanya kept her lovely promise and she will be able to be at Puskás Stadion along with her father as well seeing her sprint. What a nice gift on both sides, for Sanya the shinning golds won at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and for her father to be here in Budapest at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial Athletic GP at the Puskás Ferenc Stadion. I also mentioned him, if they have the time to pay a visit while they are staying in Budapest to go to the cemetery at the lower-level of the Saint Steven Basilica, whereas he can see the grave and memorial stone of Puskás Ferenc with fresh flowers 365 days around the year and the FTC Hungarian Football Club’s and the Barcelona Football Club’s flag standing still as an honor to this great sportsman.

Mind you there will be many more athletics on the track and field tomorrow, but my update became a bit longer that usual and also wish to leave some surprises who else will be tomorrow at the 2nd Gyulai Istvan Memorial Athletic GP.

Second Year of the Gyulai István Memorial

 Athletics Grand Prix , Budapest,  Hungary

Here are some run ups of what can be expected during  the high time of  the Athletics GP.

Long Jump, Hurdles, High Jump, Pole Vault, Triple Jump, Discus, Hammer,

Men: 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, 3000/5000 m, 110 m

Women: 200m, 400 m, 800 m

 

Many are aware and maybe needn’t have to say the Athletics is more than just jumping, throwing, running, walking around, it is a real and great sport activity that can be within us for a lifetime! 

Olympic champion Krisztian Pars, gold-medalist threw 80.59 meters  in the hammer drill competition at this year’s London Olympic games will throw the hammer along with the Russian Kirill Ikonnikov 5th and the 6th Czech Lukáš Melich place at the Olympics in London and also the 5th place in the WorldCup Russian Sergey Litvinov.

Be ready for the women’s 200 meter run parade. Watch carefully because she is a bullet! The two-time world’s best athlete woman’s choice, four-time Olympic and five-time world champion Sanya Richards-Ross. This year she has the world’s second-best record and her aim is to target last year’s  excellent record by the Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown, two-time Olympic champion in the 200 meter sprinter.

Another Gold Medalist will join the roll of champions at the István Gyulai Memorial games with the presence of Christian Taylor. Without any doubt, he is the greatest talented racer of to-day. The international media is already present and will keep an eye on him.

Two great hurdles will be seen in the battle of the day’s run, together with the world champion hurdler Jason Richardson,  the European Championship bronze medalist Dániel Kiss U23 European Championship silver medalist and world champion Balázs Baji. 

Many are aware and maybe needn’t have to say the Athletics is more than just jumping, throwing, running, walking  it is  a real and great sport activity that can be within us for a lifetime!

Strong and hard competition is expected in the run of 400 meters by Marcell Deák Nagy, the silver medalist at the former European Championships in Helsinki.  Most probably, the homeland and the home crowd will tremendously cheer and  approve their encouragement during his run.

Men’s 800 meters strong field assembled, Timothy Kitu cannot go for sure. African Cup silver and bronze medalist Anthony Chemut and Job Kinyor will be on the field to race within time and energy.

In both of the  3000 meters, be sure to see a parade of African grand athletics, the Olympic bronze medalist, Africa champion Edwin Soi Chruiyot will surely have very strong opponents and will try to overthrow the Hungarian outdoor best result ever run (7:44.99).

The double world championship silver medalist in the woman’s race  Sylvia Jebiwot Kibet will be having similar goals, and together with the great contestants on the 3,000 meters runners will try to overcome in running faster than anyone outdoor in Hungary  (8:47:44).

In the men’s high jump competition will be here at the Puskás Ferenc Stadion the world champion Yaroslav Rybakov,  winner of many world medals. 

The list of participants is not complete, there will be many more athletic to be seen on the field.

At the end of the Grand Prix competition 7 p.m., beside the Olympic and World Champion athletes, the London Olympic medalist and scoring Hungarian athletes will be out there to greet the public at the Puskás Ferenc Stadion.

Gosh, time has surely pulled on its running shoes. It’s already six years since the band was here in Budapest, giving a concert at the same place, the PECSA Music Garden.

I believe that where you felt and had a good time you wish to return to the same place. I guess the same goes here with the TOTO and not to mention the Hungarian TOTO lovers will surely be crowed at their one time concert, as mentioned already,

Could it be this is one of the reason why TOTO is coming back to Budapest. This is a short European tour only a couple of cities were implemented into Europe and in the States run. Well, we are the lucky ones to be in that pack. A band on stage and their music in our ears are over more than three decades.

Next year will be a huge tour relating to their 35th anniversary with a superb, massive world tour with covering more-and-more cities. So “Hold the Line” you out there, they will be in your town and cities just you wait and see!

Many know, but for those young adults who weren’t as lucky to be around in the ‘80s here is a brief background of the TOTO! The band members met at their high-school. Later in the ‘70s played studio sessions. Soon they became one of the busiest session musicians and their music was like glue or should I say, like a magnet attracted the audience at home in the States and around the world. So the band Toto was formed in Los Angeles in 1978 and from then on they lay their fame in the history of music with their combination of the pop, rock, disco elements, hard rock, soul and jazz, you name it!

Toto released its self-titled debut album in October 1978, and it hit the Top Ten, sold two-million copies, and spawned the gold Top Ten single “Hold the Line.” The gold-selling Hydra (October 1979) and Turn Back (January 1981) were less successful, but Toto IV (April 1982) was a multi-platinum Top Ten hit, featuring the number-one hit “Africa” and the Top Tens “Rosanna” (about Lukather’s girlfriend, movie star Rosanna Arquette) and “I Won’t Hold You Back.” At the 1982 Grammys, “Rosanna” won awards for Record of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Performance, and Best Instrumental Arrangement With Vocal; and Toto IV won awards for Album of the Year, Best Engineered Recording, and Best Producer (the group).

From the list cannot be left out their presence when they had been included in the year 2009 in the Musicians Hall of Fame. They are owners of several Grammy Awards as well.

Bobby Kimball – Bobby’s voice was a distinguishing mark, a signature of TOTO’s 1st hit: “Hold the Line” and topped the hit list fast as shooting star. Need not have to fear the “Hold the Line” will not be missing because of the absence of Bobby, even though many-many who have memos of his awesome, unique, emotional voice will miss him.

All can judge for themselves by seeing, hearing how Steve Lukather ignites the stage not only by the way he brings the sound out of his guitar, it like him having two dozen fingers , but also by bringing back other great TOTO hits like: AFRICA and ROSANNA tunes.

You just cannot allowed yourself to miss it the chance to hear some of the ‘80s music’s biggest hits.

Many will be humming the songs as they leave at the end of the concert and not just that evening but in the coming days, weeks they will surely click the tunes in their head.

146th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BUDAPEST ZOO

The Budapest’s Zoo is getting older but its external and internal appearance, also  its residents and the newcomers seems to enjoy their way of  living here in Budapest.

Even though the Budapest Zoo shares 365 days a year to go to the World of the adventures., this Saturday was a special day in the History of the Budapest Zoo by celebrating it’s 146thanniversary. On this occasion prof. Dr. Miklós Persányi, Zoo Director-General decided to add to this celebration as a small present to the little kids, youngsters., in other words, all those kids and youngsters whose height wasn’t over the 146 centimeters could go free of charge. Of course entering into the Zoo by crouching steps didn’t count.

Within the 146th year’s celebration, another highlight of the year was as  to open in the Great Rock the Magic Mountain’s „Varázshegy” Exhibition within a space of 3200 square meters. The exhibition shows the evolution of life in sixteen rooms through giant and molecular displays, fossils, adventurous games. Also a 3D cinema and a unique animal collection was to aim,  bring visitors closer to the land of „Mother Nature” The  Darwin’s Lab, yes, you can look in the microscopes and meet realities. Last but not least,  spend an amazing time by exploring the Ancient Sea, the Time Channel or the Hall of Giants.

As can be seen within the snaps the animals at the Zoo didn’t count on such a  heat wave, therefore they were pretty lazy. Even the lions didn’t sleep that night, . Were probably up all night and  slept during the day. The kangaroos had their “OUTBACK” day. The lizards were immobile, did not even have the strength to take one more step ahead. Even the Mr. Dragon got petrified. The hippo disappeared, probably cooling deep down in his pond.

Superb day for the kids and their family to have this trip to the Zoo and surely a wonderful thought of the Director offer free entrance to add to this celebration  for  (big – max. height 146cms.)  and small kids to visit the  Zoo on its 146th  Birthday.

“IRWIN” WAS WEIGHTED AT THE BUDAPEST ZOO

The press and media representatives were called to see the  measuring day for the Dragon, no, not because of entering a classy battle game. The dragonometria, is not only important for the scientific interests, nor for the fabled Knights of privilege. The operations are on schedule, “daily tasks”, carried out regularly both at the Budapest Zoo and the Botanical Garden. The Komodo dragon, also known as monitor lizards is measured annually by professionals so its thrive can be tracked. Irwin, the Komodo Dragon named after Steve Irwin  (who would have been 50 years old this year) is 225 centimeters long. This means that if it would be at London’s Olympia, it would hang down from the Olympic village’s bed, because the length of the beds are 197 cm. The Komodo dragon was placed on the Zoo’s scale recently.  Last year at this time Irwin was 191 cm in length, i.e. one year increased by 34 centimeters.

The Komodo monitor lizards “Varanus komodoensis”  is the beast of prey, often eating carrion, but eats almost everything that is on the menu list. Even the folks are not completely safe from him, as the monitor lizards grip by its  jaw can be fatal, and  its bite is also poisonous. The Komodo dragon’s mouth as part of a venom, produces glands and a  high concentration of  bacteria is in the animal’s saliva, which induce the prey’s blood caused by severe sepsis. Well that’s not the best news, but guess so these  horrible sepsis kept these species to survive the time in history. The main area where the dragons  live: Komodo, Rintja, Padar, Flores and of course one that lives in Hungary at the Budapest’s Zoo.

Irwin, popped out from its egg in January, 15. 2007 at the Chester Zoo. Irwin arrived to its new home at the Budapest Zoo in April, 2008. At the time being the Komodo dragon still didn’t reach its body length even to one meter.

Relatively late, only in 1912, Mr. Peter A. Ouvens director at the buitenzorgi (Java) botanical garden described scientifically the presence of the dragon. The reason why it was for so long on a  blank paper was of   the near by Komodo Island the  Sumbawa Island’s prison and the governor strictly gave instruction that the Island was in  private use. So, therefore that fact of dragons living in that territory remained as a secret.  The locals called these species the inland crocodiles.
