Was invited for tasting to the AB OVO wine shop located at SZEGA – Budagyöngye Shopping Center- Budapest. More great New Zealand wines arrived from (Marlborough, Martinborough, Nelson) and a different style of Sauvignon Blanc was to be compared by tasting  the New Zealand wines from one amazement to another!

Unmistakably wine regions in New Zealand

Chardonnay- Nelson 2021White – Dry – Alc.14% – Aged for 13 months exclusively in Tonnellerie Rousseau the oak. Predominantly Mendoza grapes. Tasting Notes: mouth-filling, balanced, peachy with a hint of vanilla and citrus peel. Full-bodied – Dry  Wine. A crisp acidity balance the flavors, which often perfectly rounded with oak. Food Match: with acidic foods, such as raw tomatoes, olives, capers, ceviche and tangy vinaigrettes, sauces. Avoid funky, washed-rind cheeses (taleggio, Époisse) and aged goat and sheep’s cheese.

The Pencarrow Sauvignon Blanc 2021 – White – Dry – Alc.12.5%.  The label pays tribute to the famous Pencarrow Lighthouse on the Palliser Coast. She was the first woman in this position in New Zealand. She held this position for 10 years. The grapes are 70% from older stock in Clouston vineyards and the remainder from Pencarrow in Martinboroug. Tasting Notes: Characteristic Martinborough numerous tropical fruit, also discover Golgotha fruit, Granny Smith apples, blackcurrants, and even white-fleshed nectarines, dried herb complexity in the foreground. The ripeness and the emphasis on the fruit keep the mouth-watering acids in balance, resulting in a long, fresh finish. Food Match: it also works great as an aperitif, or it’s downright brilliant with, for example, pan-fried fish, green-lipped mussels or oysters.

Middle Earth – New Zealand / Nelson Pinot Noir 2020 Premium,  Dark Ruby – Dry – Alc.14% –  Vegan friendly. It is a family owned and sustainably farmed wine. Sultry and perfumed with black cherry and plum. The wine has a plush, velvet smooth palate and leaves a lasting impression. Located in the prized wine region of Nelson, the geographic center/Middle-earth of New Zealand comes a family of premium 100% sustainable award winning wines that truly reflect a pure origin. Pinot Noir was harvested in the sunniest part of New Zealand, on the Waimea Plains in Nelson, from a flat area with alluvial, gravelly and muddy soil. A lot of sunlight and a long ripening time result in beautifully clean fruit. Each must was kept cold for 5 days in order to extract maximum color, flavor and aroma substances. The fermentation took place with the help of selected Burgundian yeast strains. After a month of maturation in wooden barrels, it was bottled after a light filtration. Tasting Notes: Currant, plum, raspberry and spiciness can be felt in its exciting aroma. Food Match: whether you prefer light or dark turkey meat, they’re equally delicious with Pinot Noir. Also goes well with barbecue pork ribs, pepperoni pizza, salmon, beet salad with goat cheese, lamb chops, Brie, Gouda, and Manchego cheeses.

Mount Vernon -Marlborough – 100% Sauvignon Blanc 2021 , White – Dry – Alc.13% – Vegan friendly! Mt. Vernon is located in the Wither Hills, close to Lawson’s Dry Hills Winery. The taste is lively and fruity, with a pleasant, juicy concentration and a gentle finish. Food Match: It is a great pleasure to sip on its own, but it is a perfect accompaniment to seafood dishes, salads, fresh cheeses even vegetarian dishes.

TEN ROCKS Sauvignon Blanc 2022 ,  White – Dry – Alc.12.5%.  – Vegan friendly! Mt. Vernon is located in the Wither Hills, close to Lawson’s Dry Hills Winery. No wonder after being named after one of the most famous landmarks. The 2022 vintage was harvested early, resulting in highly aromatic, balanced wines. Each block was harvested separately, after gentle pressing, they were fermented separately – with special yeasts that increase the fruitiness – and then the best containers were selected to make Mount Vernon Sauvignon Blanc 2021. Absolutely were tasted. Ten reasons to love this wine with of its Tasting Notes: aromatic, fresh, herbaceous, passionfruit, citrus, gooseberry, crisp, balance, delicious. The Ten Rocks is produced from a selection of vineyards throughout Marlborough whereas the warm days and cool nights give vibrant fruit flavors and crisp acidity. This Sauvignon Blanc perfectly shows why the whole world is rooting for Marlborough’s classic styl. Food Match: lighter seafood dishes such as grilled shrimp and scallops, artichoke dip or roasted veggies, chicken or pork chops, lemon tarts and crumbles.

TEN ROCKS – Malborough Sauvignon Blanc 2021 – White – Dry – Alc. 12.5%  This fantastic raw material came from selected areas of Marlborough vineyards, which perfectly demonstrates the region’s geographical diversity and varied flavor profiles. After careful pressing, the must was fermented in a tank at a cool temperature to preserve all its natural aromas and flavors. After fine pressing, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected yeast, while a small amount was fermented with wild yeast in French barrique barrels. Tasting Notes: citruses and grass are mixed with passion fruit, and then it continues in the mouth, this very characteristic taste, with lively, fruity flavors, refreshing, fresh acids and a pleasantly crisp, but still long finish. Food Match: will work so yummy with creamy pasta dishes or a mushroom risotto,  citrusy or herbaceous sauv blancs. Someone on the other hand better with pesto pasta, ravioli with herbed tomato sauce, or simple pasta dishes with olive oil, lemon, fresh tomatoes, and greens.

Dispite the tinge color sky in the Autumn sunset at Balatonalmádi welcomed visitors to the 2nd Balaton Wine Tasting Walking event. The goal to the event was to realize with the support of the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture program, and mainly to promote the cultured wine consumption and sustainable wine making within the Balaton Wine Region. Once again from the around Lake Balaton winemarkers and interested visitors came exchange thoughts from different regions and to enjoy the “BalatonBor” “BalatonWine” tasting and master class presentations. Also a great opportunity that during the off-season, wine lovers and wine producers, as well as domestic and international representatives of the profession, were able to  personally meet eachother.

The event took place in the Pannónia Cultural Center at Balatonalmádi whereas 25 wineries attended and we could taste their beloved latest and unique wine products. The event was attended by more than two hundred professionals and interested folks.

Exhibited wines to taste by wineries were the following: Androsics Estate – Barcza Winery – Bezerics Vineyard – Dobosi Estate – Dörgicsélő – Garamvári Vineyard – Istvándy Winery-Badacsony – Balázs Káli – Károly Kolonics – Laposa Badacsony – Lázár Cellar – Mórocz Winery – Nagy & Nagy Winery – Nivegy-Völgyi Borgazdaság Ltd. – Yári Pince – Petrányi Cellar – Rádpuszta Vineyard – Tagyon 730 Bormanufaktúra Vineyard – Taverna Winery – Tornai Winery – Villa Gyetvai Winery

The wine tasting was opened both by Zsófia Bozzai editor-in-chief of Bor and Wine (Wine and Market) who greeted the pretty high number of the wine-loving audience and invited them to go for tasting all the six wine regions with their wines for presentationon the spot.  Then enumerated the exhibited wineries: Androsics Estate – Barcza Winery – Bezerics Vineyard – Dobosi Estate – Dörgicsélő – Garamvári Vineyard – Istvándy Winery-Badacsony – Balázs Káli – Károly Kolonics – Laposa Badacsony – Lázár Cellar – Mórocz Winery – Nagy & Nagy Winery – Nivegy-Völgyi Borgazdaság Ltd. – Yári Pince – Petrányi Cellar – Rádpuszta Vineyard – Tagyon 730 Bormanufaktúra Vineyard – Taverna Winery – Tornai Winery – Villa Gyetvai Winery

Therafter Tamás Tornai owner of Tornai Winery at Somlójenő President of the Balaton Wine Region took the floor. He said that it will not be easy to stand out from the current oversupply on the wine market. It requires unique, special things, such as Juhfark in Somló. The place and the breed are now connected in the minds of many people, and it has therefore become special. This specialty, the “Juhfark” wine produced there, stands above the huge competition resulting from oversupply. He stated that the Balaton wine region is a great treasure and it’s time to build a wine brand to stand out from the crowd. Of course, nothing is free… you need care, internal professional dedication, continuous improvement of wine quality by utilizing the qualities of the variety, continued to note that in recent decades,  has had continuously won gold medals and awards for the best of the world’s largest wine competitions. At the wine serving table, the Tornai Top Selection wines were are/were to be tasted. A bunch of folks surely as was advised  by the representative of the Tornai winery tasted them. At a previous  visit to the Tornai winery and museum gathering already had a sip of my favorit the late-filtered “Aranykönny – Zeus” which was a trigger to fall in love in a minute with its ripened rich sunshine grape flavor. Nowonder the heavenly  flavor, it is hadsted in November the dwarf berries, which on the tuff-basalt soil have an attractive honey scent. The high sugar content well balances the nice acid structure, and this makes it really magical, therefore it’s was no surprise to me that the product is enchanted.  The Tornai wines participated in the world at numerous competitions, for instancethe London International Wine Challenge Tophy Award, for 4 times, which is a unique achievement in Hungary. Several European and American Michelin-starred restaurants offer Tornai wines Year-after-year are at the world’s most prestigious and longest-standing wine certification event, the Bordeaux Challenge International du Vin international wine competition. Also a regular participant of the Balatonfüred Wine Competition, which has been held for 30 years now.

Most probably needn’t have to introduce the already famous winemaker of the Istvándy Winery – Badacsony. At the wine tasting table had a glance on a bottle of wine without any sign nor label, it is this year’s new wine, no time to lbel it yet, but must admit without the label me simply called it now on the spot “No Name” … just thought for a second, those who taste it will say a word  as decribing the yummy taste really exciting superb rich in flavor. He liked my flip idea and  told, in wine not the greatness does not lie in volume, but in quality. He is convinced that creating something valuable and unique can only be done based on well-founded, in-depth expertise, with openness and creativity. They found the right raw material for this in the noble and special Kéknyelű. They want to discover the secrets of Kéknyelű, which will open up new horizons for the wine region.

The riport does not end here!

Taylor Swift’s currently running tour has become one of the biggest pop culture world sensations of 2023.

tailor swift concert screening

The Pannónia Entertainment will bring the global mania to Hungary with “The Eras Tour” concert film  shown nationwide without subtitles for a limited time in selected cinemas from November, 3. 2023.

Taylor Swift’s one of its August stops at “The Eras Tour” was made into a concert film intended for cinemas.

American Concert in Color – 2023, 168 mins. – Age limit: 12 – Director: Sam Wrench

What in 2023 was the Barbenheimer phenomenon on the film front, became Taylor Swift in the music sphere. Millions of fans around the world started raving about The Eras Tour on social media, generating an almost incomprehensible level of hype around the singer’s tour this year. Of course, the “Swifties” know and voice exactly why this is so special, i.e. why so much so that such a pop culture phenomenon emerges from the concert series as it has become. They don’t need to present the details, they are mainly targeted by the cinema opportunity, but it was almost inevitable for everyone else too not to run into Taylor Swift at least once this year on social media. But still, what exactly is this madness?

The Eras Tour biggest concert tour of Taylor’s career, covering 146 performances on 5 continents from March this year to next November, all held in different stadiums. Of course, the title suggests that he commemorates all the eras and albums of his career so far – crammed into a little more than 3 hours, 44 songs in 10 acts, each of which symbolizes 1 record. The concert film is somewhat cut, but still documents the three performances in early August, which Swift held at SoFi Stadium, built on the site of the former horse racing track, in Inglewood, Los Angeles, at the site of last year’s Super Bowl. In addition to fans, the spectacular show was enjoyed by critics as well, sales predict an opening day revenue of $37 million for the North American cinema premiere in mid-October. The director is Sam Wrench, who previously also conducted Billie Eilish’s O2 concert, which domestic viewers could also see on the big screen by Pannónia Entertainment.

The creation of the film is a fantastic story in itself, because originally, although negotiations were held with all major Hollywood studios, during the writer’s and actor’s strike, they refused the request, so Swift took control as a producer and bypassed the studio system, working directly with cinema networks and independent of the strike. he started pitching to film distributors until he was successful. The importance of its influence can also be deduced from the fact that, after the negotiations were completed, the premiere was set, several of the films close to it were given new dates. They actually ran away from him!

Along with the tour, the releases of extended and re-released albums, as well as new music videos, continued to come. As a producer, Swift also had a say in the editing of the film, essentially overseeing which songs were included, so in addition to her personal favorites, fans’ favorites will surely be part of the playtime. In addition to its cultural impact, “Swiftmania” also extended to economics and politics, giving the world a truly special event.

As for the concerts, the tickets for the screenings will probably sell out quickly, so the real fans of her should be on the lookout.

… the core of the Zsolnay Light Festival (external link) is the eye-catching light paintings, installations and light programs, which make up the Path of Light. July 6-9. between, at the Pécs‘s festival, a gigantic globe shines above the visitors heads, while the folklore of the Mecsek forces also comes to life.

After night falls, visitors in Pécs will be amazed by the building projections and site-specific light creations of domestic and foreign light artists. Works on the streets and squares of the city can be viewed free of charge.

The closed spaces can be visited with the Light Path Extra wristband, these are: Kodály Center, Cella Septichora Visitor Center, House of Civil Communities, Hassán Dzámi Jakovali, Baranya County Assembly Hall.

The Kodály Center has an external light projection, and it also has two indoor works. The Superb team comes from Belgium with an interactive choir installation, where can conduct a choir made up of our own copies as a conductor. The seven-meter globe floating in the concert hall, Gaia, is one of the most anticipated attractions of the festival. The hypnotic work of the Englishman Luke Jerram brings out the deepest, most intense feelings about our planet from the viewers. The experience is completed by the surround sound composition of BAFTA award-winning composer Dan Jones.

Looking at the light projection of the Dzami on Széchenyi Square, can immerse themselves in the world of coral reefs of ethereal beauty, home to millions of colorful creatures. The projection is based on data collected by NASA over 20 years; it shows changes in ocean currents, water temperature, chlorophyll, wind, salinity and water, illustrating how the world of coral reefs is transformed in warming waters.

The artists who come to the ÁRKÁD Pécs Shopping Center break down the ordinary barriers of cities to make the world a brighter, happier and more surreal place. Humorous, giant fairy-tale creatures cover the building, guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone’s face! In the shopping center, another, both playful and thought-provoking creation awaits those interested, which requires two people to try. While watching themselves in the mirror, their facial image merges with that of the other, which creates an exciting feeling, reflecting on the world of ideas of identity and empathy.

In Czinderi Park, an enchanted playground awaits young and old, after nightfall, the games come alive and offer new stimuli and experiences through the light. For many years, one of the most popular creations on the Light Carpet Path which includes analog light painting of the pavement and house walls of Janus Pannonius Street.

The light painting that comes to life on Theater Square invites the visitor on a journey through the forest. In addition to the animals, plants and mushrooms of the domestic forests, the work of Laluz Visuals uses light and music to create the fairytale world of the forests of Mecsek.

The light projection on the Barbican bastion shows how environmentally harmful plastics “come to life”. The PET/LED interactive art installation on Jókai Square also draws attention to the importance of recycling. By touching the PET bottles, anyone can conjure up lights on the surrounding buildings.

The work called LIMEN, which can be seen in the hall of the Baranya County Assembly, translates the ultrasounds emitted by the lamps, which are not perceptible to the human ear, into perceptible frequencies, so that while is to see, also hear the invisible sound of light.

In the Nádor Gallery, the contemporary sound-light “organ” weaves light phenomena with the help of light beams that move to the sounds that fill the space. It is nothing more than visual music extended into space.

On the Búza Square, a mechanical light playground awaits those interested, which come to life with sunlight and human power in an enchanted chapel.
