Actores Alidos | Galanías – Sardinian women’s songs

June, 9. 2018. 8 p.m.

Várkert Bazár  District, I.,  2-6. Ybl Miklós Square  Budapest

Within the framework of the Budapest Cappella Festival and the HaHó Europe, Tradition Month or the Heritage Connections, the Várkert Bazár on stage is the Actores Alidos female singing ensemble.

In Sardinia, the term “galanìas” is used for beautiful, precious things. The Actores Alidos Choir, led by Valeria Pilia, wants to emphasize the cultural value of the singing of singing women with this new music initiative. The female vocal is recognized not only by its harmonious and performing beauty, but also by the valuable and unparalleled performance of the community also because of its role as a substitute social role, as it accompanies all phases of life, from birth to death. The secular women were singing with intent not to act, but from a deeply rooted need: in raising the cradle of their children, in religious ceremonies, in the farewells of the dead but singing at work, they sang to suppress loneliness and illness to entertain the children to recall their passionate love and with cheerful, funny lines to ease everyday hard work.

The band members are: Valeria Pilia, Elisa Marongiu, Roberta Locci, Valeria Parisi, Diana Puddu, Orlando Mascia

To visit the concert is free of charge.
