Newsflash: Renewed Romanesque Hall at the Museum of Fine Arts

March, 25. up till April, 2. 2018.

Can be visited free of charge.

The renewed Romanesque Hall of the Museum of Fine Arts will be open to the public, every day from 10 a.m., last admission at 5 p.m. Closing of the Hall starts at 5.40 pm.

Entry is on ʺfirst come, first served”!

No arrange reservations or bookings is needed. The guided tours in the Romanesque Hall is forbidden to everyone, nor even for partly groups.

Due to the limited capacity of the museum hall, the number of visitors is limited, therefore occasionally waiting outside the building can be expected.​

Visitor Rules for the Romanesque Hall … In order to protect our values please consider the following rules during your visit: Touching the walls of the Romanesque Hall is strictly forbidden. Please keep a distance of at least 20 cm from the walls of the Hall.

It is forbidden to bring bottles, food, drink, pets (except guide dogs) into the Hall, or any objects that might harm or endanger the safety of other visitors, employees of the museum or the artworks of the Hall.

The temperature in the Hall is approximately 20°C. It is not obligatory to leave coats and bags in the cloakroom unless they are wet. Kindly ask the visitors to leave travel bags and umbrellas in the cloakroom.

As all around the world, eating, and drinking is forbidden in the Hall. It is also prohibited to smoke in the building including electronic cigarettes.

Taking photographs and recording videos, exclusively for personal use, is permitted in the Hall. Flash photography, mono-pods and tripods are not permitted.

Children below the age of 2 can be taken in the Hall in strollers or in baby carriers.

The Romanesque Hall is accessible for disabled visitors as well.

After this period the museum will be closed, it can be visited again from 31 October 2018.

25th Titanic Filmfest – Budapest – 2018.

April, 4.  – April, 13.  2018

The Titanic Filmfest is the biggest international film festival in Hungary. The most outstanding, daring and innovative movies coming to movie lovers in Budapest. In 2018, Budapest celebrates its 25th Titanic Filmfest anniversary. Films from 29 countries, including international premiers are also on the list of the programs.

Four filmmakers will be present at their films. The director of The Shepherd, Jonathan Cenzual Burley, the filmmaker of Bird on a Wire about Leonard Cohen, Tony Palmer, and the two producers of Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World, Christina Fon and Stevie Salasis.

Cinemas to be screening the films are at the Art Cinemas – as: Uránia, Toldi, Örökmozgó, Puskin.

Hungarian success at the Dublin Craft Beer Festival 2018

Gold Award – Rétság brewery – Fűtőház Sörfőzde – Dublin Craft Beer Cup

The Alltech Craft Brews and Food Fair, one of Ireland’s largest festivals which took place at the Convention Center in Dublin City between March, 8-10, 2018.  Hosted local plus overseas craft beer beverages  with the latest beers and spirits all under the one roof .

This year 23 Hungarian beers were awarded  in the Dublin Craft Beer Cup Irish Handicrafts Competition.

Dublin Craft Beer Cup – 2018 Winner: M63 Bulldog by Fűtőház Sörfőzde (Hungary.

The golden strong M63 BULLDOG, however, was not “just” awarded with gold medal but won the Grand Prize of the Champion’s Champion.

The Grand Prize was awarded the Dublin Craft Beer Cup by the 28 international jury members for the stout beer (327-139) from the Rétság Grocery House Brewery. Beside the grand prize, this year the Rétság brewery (beyond its own performance) won two bronze medals  – M40 PÚPOS) and one silver medal – M61 NOHAB. Also  two other breweries: the Hungarian Jászapáti Guri Brewery and Hopfanatic  also returned back home with medals.

Spring Fair – Budapest – 2018.

District V., Vörösmarty Square – Budapest

In connection with the Easter celebration at the Vörösmarty Square welcomes the people to visit the folk handicraft products from  March, 23 to April, 22 at Spring Fair in Budapest. This year, the long forgotten traditional traditions, high level of cultural experience are more than welcome. The festival aims to provide high quality entertainment to the residents of Budapest and naturally the foreigners visitors working and/or staying in Hungary. Also beside musical performances, visitors have a glimpse into the work of traditional crafts  made with demonstrations by basket-weavers, potters and blacksmiths.

The food stands feature roasts and traditional dishes. Sweets for sweet lovers but those with a sweet tooth will also find the artisanal marzipan and chocolates, as well as the perennial favourite of Hungarian fairs, “kürtőskalács” – Chimney cake.

To visit the Spring Fair is free of charge.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Budapest, organized by the Irish Hungarian Business Circle, promises to be a lot of fun. Irish music, dance, food & drink. The parade starts at 1.30 p.m. (departure at 3 p.m.) on Sunday, March 18th on Szabadság Square- Budapest. Amusement, fun and surprises await! Balloons, face painters, stilts, Zugló – marionette groups, children’s programs – Irish music – food – beverages.

It’s a religious feast, which has been observed over many centuries. On St. Patrick’s Day Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Today, St. Patrick’s Day is a celebration of Irish culture worldwide, with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade being one of the highlights of the festivities everywhere. The tradition of wearing something green on this day goes back to the 17th century, when green ribbons were worn.

The 7th Badacsony Region Wineries – New York Palace Budapest – 2018.

On Saturday, April, 14. 2018., the great tasting  from the Badacsony  wineries will be held again in Budapest. The colorful  Badacsony Wine Region will be for the 7th time organized at one of the “World’s Most Beautiful Café” in the impressive New York Palace – Budapest …  this time at the Rome Room.

Beside the wineries of the Badacsony Wine Region, as a novelty the settlements, hotels, restaurants, program locations and other providers of the destination will be present to introduce themselves. It is a great time for those interested to get to know local producers, the outstanding representatives of the winemaking profession, to get answers directly from their questions. From the smaller wineries to the largest, from handicraft producers to large wineries, everyone will be present by tasting and talking with selected wines raise the atmosphere of the Badacsony Wine Region.

II. Spring Kvaterka – Esterhazy Champagne Factory – Tata

You probably know this  or similar saying in other countries … The shortest way between two people, beside a smile, goes via a glass of mouth-watering wine!

A super event was organized side-by-side with the wine makers of the Neszmély wine region, not at the region but on a route at the Estehazy Champagne Factory   – Tata-Tóvároskert. The Neszmély wine region is situated in the hillsides south of the River Danube, in the north of Transdanubia. about 40-65 kms from Budapest depending which winery to be visited. keeping in mind the relatively small wine region there are four women to bear the wine knighthood title. This was told proudly by one of the male wine knight from the region.

The wine makers present themselves as their mission to regain the world renown of the Neszmély wines and to promote the cultivated wine consumption. Proudly said by a male wine knight, that in their region there are  four ladies who hold the wine knighthood title.

The Esterhazy Champagne Factory  unique industrial, artistic and cultural monuments. The Region has many options why to hop over, get to know, take a route to the wine cellars of the Neszmély. The building complex was built-in the 1770 and located on the edge of the English Park of Tata. In its high-light time, it was an integral part of the Esterhazy Manor of Tata, with a 1500 square meter cellar system, a 500 square meter ballroom with a height of 10 meters and a 3-storey roof structure used for grain storage.

All on the spot said they are keeping the traditional values,… The wine makers all by one said their mission is to regain the world renown of the Neszmély wines and to promote the cultivated wine consumption. Mun-Dus International Wine Competition – Gold Medal.  Csaba Bősze – Cellar,  Stróbel – wine house, Szőllősi Winery – wine house, Gottwald –  wine cellar, winemaker, Deák Cellar, Wéber Family Winery, Kostel – wine house, Szőllősi – Winery – Mihály Szőllősi was the wine maker of the year in 2015, Kőszklás –  winemaker, Horváth Family – Winery, Gelbmann Cellar, last but not least mentioning the Nyitnikék wine cellar  Two wine-loving professionals, Attila Anderla and István Szabó founded the Open-air Winery on the hillside. Both were raised in the historic Neszmély wine region. Agriculture has been an integral part of both of them since childhood. The commitment to agriculture and the love of nature after years, re-interconnected them after college and university studies. Choosing the winery’s name also shows the love of nature and traditions. Their cellar is at the foot of the Vértes at the Baj vineyard. The inspiration of the Nyitnikék singing birds living there inspired them when the name was chosen. Their Cabernet Sauvignon Rose in 2017 won the golden award.

Szívek –  winery –  3 brothers:  György Szívek, Gyula Szívek, Péter Szívek, the winery is a small, family owned venture and are keeping traditional values and been dealing with viniculture and wine production for generations. with wine-press with a wooden beam from 1867 is still operating – this is the special, unique feature of their wine cellar. The Szívek wine makers aim to present the complexity and richness of the region where their wines are produced. The knowledge and experience of their father live in them.

Stróbel – wine house – Feri and Márti Stróbl  – Baj, Szőlőhegy, nearly 200 years old cellar. The white and rosé wines are made by species yeast inoculation, directed fermentation, reductive technology. The red wines are fermented with blue grapes and stuffed in aces.

As part of the Neszmély wine region, the Petőcz Cottage at Aszár provides accommodation, wine tasting, fishing, hunting, horseback riding biking, furnace cooking, baking and cooking can be found all in one place.

Tasting wines included flavors of Chardonnay, Green Veltelini, Olsai Irsai, Chersegi spices, Tramini, Otton Muscat, Sauvignon Blanc, Rhine Riesling, Kékfrankos, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Rosemary. The red wines are not really typical at this countryside, yet  a couple of winemakers brought to the venue  to taste and were pretty popular to the visitors.

Samsung Electronics today unveiled its 2018 home entertainment lineup at the company’s First Look in New York event.

Samsung highlighted details about its flagship QLED TV models and its expanded lineup of UHD, Premium UHD and Ultra-Large Screen TVs. With groundbreaking design elements, enhanced picture quality, and intuitive smart capabilities, Samsung’s 2018 QLED line empowers consumers to enjoy content without distractions – even when viewers are not actively watching.

“Our 2018 lineup of televisions are truly our most innovative and sophisticated yet, designed for today’s consumer who is mindful of the aesthetics of their space,” said Jonghee Han, President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We are excited for consumers to experience our new TV lineup and features that offer more freedom to decide where and how the TV can be best enjoyed within the home.”

Kitchen Exhibition – Papp László Sport Arena – Budapest 2018

Many people visited the exhibition „Kitchen Dreams and Dream Kitchen” so that they can constantly keep the experienced to make, to change, and/or, if planed int he future to completely transform it with gain of the ideas. Only the creativity set limits your kitchen! The kitchen is the heart of our home and it’s beating at the  Kitchen Exhibition.  At the big cooking stage, there were several professional and hobby cooks who shared their experiences.

It was a great success to taste at the spectacular cooking show the most varied sweet potato variations,  prepared by  Balázs Czanik –  the creator of Capoeira Aerobik, András Kovács – the greatest Hungarian expert in sweet potatoes and Norbert Makk chef!

The new recipe book entitled “Sweet potato – more than a garnish” was published and was available on the spot …  the main ingredient is sweet potato.

Beside the kitchenware there were other items also handy households and many stands had also live shows in cooking experience with handheld devices. Meeting Italian Style and Technology in the kitchen, built-in refrigerators, washing machines and mouthwatering coffee was prepared to taste at several stands. For Volkswagen vehicle lovers they can keep the item in their house  and always have a look how it’s doing with the “Volkswagen logo” refrigerator, does not go anywhere but perfectly cools. The Saeco – coffee machine – creamy soft flavor with only a touch of a button. The Lavazza coffee machine in Blue – had  more than a dozen  of options to prepare your special coffee… Thanks to its hundred years of experience in coffee making,  tasted it and was heavenly.  Was not on my own being “Blue”… the price was from out of space cost: 500,000HUF.
