Enjoy a tour in a comfy cinema seat to visit a magical city. The “Intoxicating Venice” showcases masterpieces by Tiepolo, Canaletto, Rosalba Carriera and the intellectuals who fell in love with Venice: from Canova to Goethe, Lord Byron to Walter Scott, down to the great Hollywood stars drawn to its yearly Film Festival. In 1600 years after its legendary foundation, Venice continues to be unique for its urban landscape and for its rich history, but above all, the city is unique for its identity, which combines the charm of decadence with the excitement of being on the cutting edge.
During the city tour, can see the immortal works of such masters as Tiepolo, Canaletto, Rosalba Carriera. Also talk about those who fell in love with the city, such as from Canova to Goethe, from Byron to Walter Scott, not to mention the acting screen stars who are attracted to the magical Venice Film Festival year after year. Thomas Mann wrote his short novel Death in Venice whereas Mussolini met Hitler in Venice. Persian Shah Reza Paleevi, Anna Magnani and Rossellini, and Jean Cocteau also visited the magical venue. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Edward and Wallis Simpson, the most scandalous English royal couple in recent times. In 1931 was cheered by the masses – still restrained! – Charlie Chaplin after the success of City Lights.
It is a historical fact that the body of St. Mark – the first bishop of Alexandria – Egypt – was smuggled out of Egypt in 828 by two Venetian merchants. Since the remains of the saint washed ashore, he was considered the patron saint of the city-state, and a basilica was erected in his honor.
