Many are perfectly are  aware of the history of Earl Monte Cristo, but as a refresher here is a reminder:

(The story takes place in France, Italy islands in the Mediterranean and the Levant  during the historical events of  1815-1838 (just before the Hundred Days through the reign of Louis Philippe of France). The historical setting is a fundamental element of the book. The main message is primarily relaying on justice, mercy, forgiveness.)

Now heading back to the 21st Century, and the coming days, at the Margaret Island Open-Air Theater will be showing a high-level of performance, a stage adaptation by Mr. Pozsgai Zsolt of the Duma’s timeless novel. The musical debut with superb songs are composed, directed and the “Dantes” role will also be played by Mr. György Szomor.

Edmond Dantes: Mr. György Szomor
Young Edmond Dantes: Mr. Attila Gulyás

As in the book the musical also shows a large number of characters. What here at the Margaret Island’s Open-Air Theater presents for the evening is unique by itself. Originally the play is well-known at the City of Békéscsaba at the Jókai Theater. Here in Budapest  the main stage performances are converted to the conditions of the Margaret Island’s Open-Air Theater, performed by excellent musical performers.

Ain’t going to spread all the secrets, but don’t be a minute late cause the musical goes off, i.e. flies into the scene on the stage with a hot air balloon. Not too many theater performances have the ability to use an open-air theater as out in the wide spread like an ope-air theater’s environmental specificities.  Here this musical can be enjoyed by ears and eyes on a warm summer breezy evening at the Margaret Island. Also not too many places can welcome a theater visitor being a bit hungry, so the guests to  ease their hunger, they can arrive earlier and at the entrance there is a bar and restaurant too as to also ease their appetite.

There is also an opportunity to float over to the Open-Air Theater by the use of the Boat Service ports on the Buda side and also from the Pest banks to the Margaret Island. Getting off  the boat, just a few steps to the Open-Air Theater.
