BUDAPEST ZOO – A HUNDRED-YEAR DREAM TO COME TRUE!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The 2012 year is a Jubilee year at the Budapest Zoo!

Received an invitation to the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden season-opening press conference. The event was held by Deputy Mayor Mr Miklós Csomós and prof. Dr. Miklós Persányi, Zoo Director General.

Before heading to the scene to be held the press conference the gathered representatives  placed wreath at the statue of army officer of the 1848 Independence War, later the first director of the Budapest Zoo, Mr. János Xantus. Thereafter, our way led us to the Botanical Garden cupola hall.

The main purpose of gathering the representatives of the press and media was to provide information about the forthcoming programs, plans and the difficulties for the season of 2012.  On this Jubilee Year the Zoo is to open officially the “Magic Hill” but I would rather call it the Cave of Magic, and its reconstruction works at the “Main Gate” and its surroundings, as well as  the update of the Project II., of the “Habitats and those collections”.  We were also updated with the institution’s plans for the year 2012. Also was informed  us about the coming  “animal” stars in the year 2012.

During the Jubilee year, the most important event will be the opening of the “Magic Hill” the Cave of Magic.

The  most important event to the hundredth anniversary day “will be pulled aside the stones”  from the entrance  gate  and the visitors can enter into the world of magic!  It is a 100-year-old Huge Rock! This was the dream of Mr. Adolf Lendl, the director’s plan in 1909, as  to give shelter to a zoological museum. Well, it did not come true and the inside rock remained unused!  But in a way on this anniversary day his dream comes alive. Though the huge rock would not to be a place for a zoological museum, but live animals and natural history museums citations, a site of interactive exhibition will be brought alive. His heart would be surely filled with happiness to see by this new project for his dream to come true.

Connected to the jubilee year, the Budapest Zoo, is to prepare an outstanding professional program. Between May, 17 and 19 will organize a symposium whereas the world’s oldest zoo, (zoos over hundred years older) leaders will gather to exchange experiences. The “IVY ZOO” symposium will be held for the 2nd time here in Budapest. The first of a kind of professional gathering took place in 1996, also initiated by and at the Budapest Zoo.

Last year’s newcomers were the wombats and the ground pigs, which immediately became a favorite of the audience.

This year, more new species will be visible inside the Cave of Magic. We were also told the Zoo is delighted to be able to show the world’s rarest insects. The stick-insect eggs will be posted by the Australian Zoo. The last species was believed to be seen in 1930 and then after had been thought as extinct species. In 2001 they were re-discovered at a small rock, on an Island close to Australia. Since then, they are propagated in the Australian Zoo as to be rescued from their extinction. The first egg species to ever to arrive to Europe will be to the Budapest’s  Zoo after its long journey from the Australia Zoo. As far as I got it right 14 species of Pyramids will arrive this year to the Budapest’s Zoo from the Lord Howe Island. Oh well, this is just what we surely need…  We will have to be aware not to ease the appetite.O.K. just kidding.

Programs at the Budapest Zoo there will be no shortage. Speaking of the near future: the “World Water Day”, in April the “Earth Festival”. Continuing last years popularity, concerts will be held once again. Also the “Early evening and evenings rolling along” will welcome all from 9 to 99 years of age.

Finally, important figures were brought alive ending press gathering: The “Magic Hill” the Cave of Magic  has a total of 17 rooms, 3,200 square meters, with fauna, giant animals, models, special fossils, living fossils, adventure games, simulators and 3D cinema projection-room is to be a creation of a unique environment.

The Zoo management believes it is fair enough to reduce the entry ticket prices during the major construction work. Even though all the animals and venues can be visited at the time being, with some ongoing works along the paths. From March,15 (National Holiday) with temporarily reduce prices of 15% discount on tickets will be available until April, 15 so  still  will have the reduced price during the season of Easter.

Just couldn’t resist not shooting a couple of snaps seeing the peaceful natural life before leaving the Zoo. I would also like to share those with you 🙂

LAST DAY AT THE FAIR – ANNOUNCEMENT AND AWARD TO THE WINNER OF THE 2012 BEST HUNGARIAN HOME-MADE TASTES!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Even little Red Riding Hood would have had been satisfied last Friday at the Millenium Park, while rolling through, collecting the Hungarian hand-made food.

On the last day of the Fair  at the Millenium Park was a full day full with visitors with huge bags collecting meat, honey, natural fruit juice, cheese, wine, palinka, all sorts of mixed ingredients, flavor spices, hand-made noodles, just to mention a few on the pallet that could have had been brought at this grand gathering. Below are some of the visited stands I would like to recommend for the future gatherings to the  foreigner visitors to  hover to the Festival or Fair of Hungarian gastronomic specialties.

NATURAL FRUIT JUICE: The VitaBox products are 100% proof natural fruit juice. Freshly squeezed, made of healthy fruits that you and your family will always have the best. Material does not contain any added! The VitaBox main goal is to go back to the natural world with their natural fruit juices that preserves the valuable vitamin groups, trace elements and mineral material. Beside the fruits the selection of veggies are becoming very popular, especially the beetroot. As I was told: “The juice picked from the tree”. The VitaBox products met the highest European standards as well as the customers expectation. The most important feature is that the fruit is raw material in addition to any added substances (eg sugar, artificial colors, flavors, stabilizers and preservatives, additives) are not included. They are packed in boxes, 5 liter fruit juice in each, or 2in1, two different fruit juice packaged separately in one box with a total of 5 liter and in bottled form – 0,2 liter. Especially wonderful to have a glass or two when the season doesn’t produce these mouth-watering delicious fruits from our huge regions of “fruitland”. Having tasting their full-scale of fruit juices, I personally would drink this day-and-night… yummy! Could not resist after the tasting to get a few “buckets in box” of these fine tasty fruit juices. I would highly recommend the gourmet lovers to purchase next time they will be out on fair or festival where Hungarian products can be found. They will absolutely feel like tasting the raw fruits.

CHEESE: Saw a headline saying: “Products starting from the grass and ending up on your table!”  What is the secret of the hand-made cheese, well a part of it is pretty much known, the hard two hand work and love added. Some facts are always missing, but at the Fair the manufacture spoked and shared their experiences about their “baby” that we mainly are not told when doing our week-end shopping. The Agria hand-made cheese-workroom are taken in hand from the natural conditions of the free-held Hungarian Simmental and Holstein-Friesian cows, whole milk. Along this hard work, the result: milk, cheese and dairy products and include herbs growing in the mountains of valuable active ingredients are all we so much enjoy of the end products.

BIO-WINE: The Gajdos winery also presented a grand variety of their Bio-wine products. At the fair the main attraction went out for the Bull’s Blood from the region of Eger. Most probably no one has to be introduced to the Hungarian Bull’s Blood, this wine is well know throughout the world. The rich flavor is blended from Gamay, which gives it a fruity and silky taste. All around the stand  were a massive crowd tasting the Gajdos wines. As was told they place a huge emphasis on the organic quality of grapes and in producing their wines. Their winery has opted with the latest solutions, and this can definitely be tasted, recognized on the quality of their wines.

HONEY: One of the outstanding Hungarian natural products was the huge variety of medicinal honey. This was introduced at the scene of the “Herbatea”. The Herbatea manufacture Ltd. aim is to distribute the selected herbs, which for ages are and have been proven efficiency for the better health. The honey names were given a fantasy call:  “sweet dreams” up to “fresh-up”. The herb active ingredients are in high-quality assured by the Hungarian honey producers. It concentrate to its beneficial effects on the body to further enhance their beneficial effects.

BEER:  Mr. András Szilágyi, the brewer of millet beer (5% alcohol) with the semi dark and lager beer was pretty popular at the fair. He also served hot spicy millet beer, similar to the hot spicy beer in Ireland, but with the Hungarian special ingredients to give the unique touch. Surely many visiting his stand had that smooth taste.

A total of 17 thousand visitors gathered during the 3 days and the income also helped tens of millions of HUF to the Hungarian producers and its Hungarian economy.

Last but not least, the Fair winner producer at the 3rd Hungarian hand-made flavor and crafts was Mr. Gergely Molnár by reaching the highest votes from the visitors who voted to his honey products brought from  the “Honeymuseum”

Hope my update will serve the better of information to the temporary foreigners staying in Budapest.

OPENING DAY AT THE HUNGARIAN HOME-MADE FIESTA OF FOOD AND CRAFTS

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Insight  from the opening day !

Genuine gastronomic experiences!

The opening ceremony started at Friday,  during the noontime with welcoming the nearly 120 exhibitors, from 7 regions of Hungary and  4 regions from the  cross-border regions: Transcarpathia, Transylvania, Southland and Highland. More than 5000, yes five thousand food to be available for tasting throughout the 3 days long Fair. For those individuals that were present on that Friday surely got into the grove of the tasting the fine appetizing snacks and liquid foods.

Rolling down my update you can stop by at any of the stands to see what was to come. Sorry for only giving the visual taste, but surely will be coming along soon another Fair or Festival where these crunchy-munchy food can be tasted and make sure to be there.

WINE: Real speciality made from red and white wine from the region of Villány, the winery landscape is just a wink from the Southern border line. This specially made mulled-wine jam is an excellent rich in taste and can be added as a sider to red meat, poultry, fish, cheese or sweet cakes. The red and white jams are made from the protected origin grapes from the vineyards of Villány. The basic origins are: Portugieser,Villány Italian Reisling with added spices and sugar.

SALAMI: The National Park at “Kiskunság” is the Hungarian area of grey cattle and buffalo. At the national park, beside salami and  other main meat products are produced at the manufacture. These animals all live out in the grazing fields. At the national park, the production of high quality meat is ensured by the non use of chemicals and fertilizer-free pastures. These sample of meat-tasting was really a new taste for many. Both products: spicy and non-spicy were very delicious and available to purchase at the scene, just like the rest of the products during the fair.

PÁLINKA: Arpád Premium Pálinka cartridges pretty much looked like the cigar holders. They were packed in three and could be brought as a gift box on the spot. The varieties of fruit  are all from the land of Hungary. As soon as I had a glance on these small bottles, immediately flashed through my mind, these handy bottles made of glass can be also available in a plastic bottle from and can be widely used serving upon air-flights and so forth. Had a snip and it was heavenly, just like having a bite of a summer sun ripe fruit.

JAMS: Magic sealed in glass: Been at the right place  at the right time. At last, the time has come again when you discover the flavors of home, the importance of consumption of natural foods. This was brought all along from Transylvania to the Budapest’s 3rd Hungarian home-made Fair by the “SzekelyGyümölcs” In our era it was natural for children to canning, stored in a cool chamber preserves, jams, smoked, dried meats and plants that have had facilitated the design of the everyday housewife. In our present days, the changed urban life needs a different framework for the procurement of good sources. Not only the producers, but the also consumers’ are systematically searching to discover the products of reliable materials. There was a very good lineup of yummy jams and natural fruit jucie.

WINE VINEGAR: The Tokaj wine is worldwide famous abroad and the wine vinegar is only prepared  from the Tokaj hills superb wine. In the wine vinegar there is no any added substance. The wine vinegar is absolutely natural, only  bacteria and acetic acid-mediated components are included. They told me, they are pleased to be present, to introduce their worldwide one-and-only special wine vinegar from the Tokaj wine, by participating at this Hungarian home-made food and crafts festival of manufactures.

Be back to give an update of the last day at the Fair!

HIGHLIGHTS ON THE CATWALK 2 IN 1 SCHWARZKOPF – INSTYLE WITHIN THE FRAME OF THE TREND-BANG FESTIVAL

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

JUST TOOK A BLINK AND THERE IT WAS, BUT ALSO IN BETWEEN THE BLINKS THERE WERE GREAT HAIR DRESSERS AND HOTTEST FASHION TRENDS OF THE YEAR 2012!

ESSENTIAL LOOKS SCHWARZKOPF  PROFESSIONAL – HAIRDRESSERS

 INSTYLE  – FASHION DISIGNERS

ALL ONE OF A KIND OF HUNGARIAN ARTISTS!

Last Sunday, the 4th March received a private invitation to the event of the ESSENTIAL LOOKS SCHWARZKOPF PROFESSIONAL and the INSTYLE new fashion show which took place at the Millenium Park, „E” Theater Hall.

During the evening the line up of shows began: Wedding hair and fashion show trend of 2012. Spring / Summer hair color trends in light of fashion – hair show. The “Lancia” premiere “Be creative and not monotone” fashion designer competition with the finalist’s announcement was all packed and rolled up to see.

First came the Schwarzkopf Professional, launched in 2012 with its spring/ summer hair color trends. The Theater Hall was completely crowded with the curious visitors. Hair model men and women took their seats and the master hair stylists began the show. All supplies were brought out in a bowl by the hair models and off it went to succeed. During the hairdresser’s were shaping, rolling their scissors , cutting, twisting the curls, spraying loads of hairspray and viewing heads as the combs flashed in the perfectly illuminated spot, the audience was able to follow every strand of hair on the giant screen as the hairdressers built their sculptors. Through speakers, you heard every step commented on their activities.

The highlight of the evening was when Mr. Ádám Szabó, the International master barber at the Trevor Sorbian International plc.Covent Garden came down the runway with his hair model. Adam is almost three years already living in London and was so pleased to have had been called home to participate at this show. Before moving out to London he won three times the “Hairdresser of the Year” award in Hungary. Adam is still playing with the thought of building his career, but he is much more into rather having a nice family before that. As the saying says: “The apple did not fall far from the tree”. His father and grandfather was a barber. Practically, he grew up in a barbershop, but as a teenager, only at the age of 17 he took “the scissors” seriously! Asking him: “What’s your secret?” He said: “ I believe “I only” try to do it well!”

The Trevor Sorbi’s philosophy has been always up to create something new, which then after can be integrated into the barbershop. Adam is responsible for the lineup of shows, inventing new techniques, as well as the handling the education part, but for example he holds inspirational evening sessions. (Why does this sound unfamiliar to me? Hmmm)

After the master hairdressers show, the spring wedding bun trends came alive on the runway.

Another awaited show after doing the hair came dressing the body.

The selection of Hungarian fashion designers rolled their sleeves up to show their best fashion ideas and hot fashion tips to the coming warmer season’s trends for the spring and summer!

Outside on this cold night the air was warmed up by catching the view on the catwalk, seeing the latest and the hot fashion trends go by.

There was a mixture of elegance and edgy style shown by the following fashion designers: Ms.Barbara Léber, Ms. Anikó Németh – Manier, Magneta, Sugarbird, Ms. Anita Benes – Dáálarna, Art’z Modell, Nubu, Ms. Dóri Tomchányi, Ms. Ágóta Nagy „White Salon”– Orlando Collection, just to mention a few.

Sitting, watching around the paths at the catwalk, everyone could find something in their taste. The classy designs for the woman who loves luxury, detailed tailoring and who rather prefer to dress in the 21st century’s style, a bit cheeky, who is not afraid to stand out of the crowd. Most of the models came out with especially selected dresses, made from delicate, fine fabrics making them very feminine and posh.

The designers competition ended with an exciting fashion show parade and the finalists premiere ceremony.

It was surely a trendy evening!

Mr.LAJOS “LALI” BOROS, NEO FM RADIO PRESENTER WILL BE LEAVING SOMETIME SOON THE ON-AIR A.M.SHOW.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

WITHOUT BEING PARTIALITY  TO THE NEO FM  A.M. SHOW, IT BRING MILLIONS A SMILE ON THEIR FACE EACH-AND-EVERY MORNING!

After to-day’s airing the A.M. hours at the HQ’s of NEO FM Radio, the 3 radio show presenters: Mr. Lajos (Lali) Boros, Mr. Gábor Bochkor, Mr. János Voga and Mr. Ádám Földes, Director of Neo FM Radio arrived to make their Press announcement.

For the past two decades, Lali had a burning passion to make good radio and get a real buzz out of it. Now came the time when he became serious about his future, saying: “I already stepping towards my third 25 years of age. Going to take it easy and smooth in recharging myself and when I’ll reach  my fourth quarter of the coming next 25 years I will be coming back, full of energy with fresh ideas to the NEO FM or whatever it will be called.” So he decided now is the time for him to catapult from his early morning wake-ups that warn him out and throughout the years was like nightmares to get up so early. Going to have time to deal around in my brand new level, which ain’t so new at all. It is his longtime dream, as to do some art paints. He will be also enjoying staying in bed until the sun gets much higher.

Lali, has been a radio presenter for over 20 years getting up early or ain’t even going to bed, because he has been broadcasting day-in-day-out getting up during the twilight hours.

Lali won’t be going far!

He will stay as a background supporter and be handy to share this knowledge with those newcomer/s who will be selected to take his seat and mike. So well said, as we all know that it is obvious for an Olympic Athlete to have a coach or mentor to help them develop their skills. They encourage, motivate and above all, they inspire the Athlete to be “at the top of the game”.

Throughout the years, Lali and his buddies were on-air, listened in Hungary and by those Hungarians who are spread around the world.

They really gave happy hours to the early listeners in those A.M.hours. Gave lots of laughter by picking up ridiculous stories and answering radio listener’s reactions from the homeland and from the wide-wide spread of International listeners, of course the second part, couldn’t have had happen without the radio bands blast into the world of Internet.

Lali, had an extensive time with the other two presenters even when from time-to-time they had thumbs-down from authorities or had to move from one station to another. He also admitted it was a rewarding and an enjoyable career. Who wouldn’t love opening the microphone and talking knowing that people are listening and reacting to what you’re saying!?!

For most people it’s a dream job. Yes, he was one of those people! Worked at the sharp end of broadcasting now for two decades and in that time he picked up many of the hints, tricks and tips. After all, you don’t stay working in radio for over 20 years if your listening figures are poor, right!?! Lali told us, he never stopped bumping in, picking up some incredible ideas and sharing, tickling up with the new ideas Gábor’s nerves, but after all they were mainly well served at the end.

Of course there are more stories Lali can tell than the bricks on the yellow brick road and maybe one day he will lay them down on paper.

Mr.Adam Foldes, Director of Neo FM Radio thanked Lali’s part who was a grand partner to establish the commercial broadcasting at the A.M. show. At the end of this announcement Mr. Adam Földes gave a golden color boomerang to express the radio’s thanks for the jolly good years spent together.

Mr. Lajos (Lali) Boros and Mr. Gábor Bochkor had built up a type of “on-air” A.M. show here in Hungary they wouldn’t have believed it would survive for “ages”, yet it did and in many parts of the world other presenters were a bit surprised what’s the secret in their success … how have they done it and still do it.

Throughout the 20 years the radio stations names changed at first:  Sláger “Hits” Radio, then came the Bumeráng “Boomerang” Radio and at present its the NEO FM Radio. Names come-and-go, but the three radio presenters stood all the way together. Now the 20 years link of this chain will get loose and a grand historical period with the three won’t be on the air no more 😦

I have got one hint to their success …You have to be born with that talent and the rest is magic! It’s as simple as that!

SPORT ATHLETES AND SPORT AMBASSADOR SIGNING THE WIDE AND GIANT TABLEAU AT THE HUNGEXPO -TRAVEL EXHIBITION.

The 35th Traveling Exhibition at the Hungexpo  – Budapest

March, 1 -4.

This is why I love Budapest!

“A” pavilion, booth 212-213.

On the 2nd of March, during the late afternoon hours have been invited to the debut event at the Budapest’s booth whereas, famous sports athletes and sport ambassadors came along to join, be with us at signing their names and adding their own personal thoughts on a giant tableau  Mr. Zsolt Erdei, nickname: Madár = Bird, two-time box WC and Mr. Sándor Egervári, former Hungarian quarterback football player,at present  now-a-days the Hungarian national football team’s coach. Others prominent individuals also stepped up to the tableau to share, write their remarks.

Throughout the opening days of the exhibition, the huge plastic roll will be out on display and the visitors rolling by can take a stop and leave their own messages on the tableau, why they “LOVE BUDAPEST!

Budapest is not only the diversity in offering its cultural and architectural treasures. Not even due to its characteristics of the terrains and baths of hot mineral “floating gold”. The urban lifestyle, welcomes foreigners to be here and feel like home by the local people’s openness and creativity. The capital is visited by people with different reasons. There are who were born here, who are working here, and who have moved here, they all agree at least one thing, Budapest is the city that can not go unnoticed!

The Budapest tourist image of its logo was created last year. It had been brought to the Hungexpo, theTravel Exhibition  “undressed” empty, the gray contour on the giant tableau started to be filled-up with its contents of the thoughts of the visitors “THIS IS WHY I LOVE BUDAPEST”written in blue color. Anyone could stop and tell by writing  their own tail what is it that connects them to the Capital of Hungary.

Interesting to see and hear, one of the visitor recognised our WC boxer. I was just an arm distance from both of them. The lad was from Germany and he also flew as a bird seeing, meeting, speaking with the two-time World Champion Mr. Zsolt Erdei “Bird”, who played several occasions in Germany.  This German lad will surely remember his stay in Budapest and if not for anything else, which probably won’t be the case,  from now on he will be saying: I LOVE BUDAPEST!

WELCOMING SPRING WITH THE BANG OF FRESH TRENDS!

Daily tickets are available on the spot: 2000.- HUF.

Visiting hours during the 3 days from 10 a.m. -7 p.m., except for Saturday until midnight.

Millennium Park – ‘B’ Hall. – Budapest

Most probably many are expecting the spring after the winter months, right? By entering into the month of March, hopefully more-and-more sunshine days will finally come in our everyday. The awakening of nature, however, not only for us but also inspired the designers. Learn about the latest trends in which the citations of light and the nature of spring awakes by not only to have the nature glowing, but your surrounding environment as well.

During morning hours of the day, the representatives and exhibitors held a press gathering to the members of press and media by asking to spread the news of what to expect at this year’s Trend-Bang Festival. Each delegate gave an overview what will be out on the platforms at the Trend-Bang Fair 2012.

Mr. Károly Oláh, DELUX, the major sponsor of the event welcomed the press and media representatives with their slogan: “Let us re-color”. As he expressed himself, “The color research commando are working full year around the clock to see what color will be the trend in the coming year. With the use of colors we can also change the indoor and outdoor community areas.” So whether you believe it or not, it’s up to you, that the spectrum of colors affect our daily lives from the day of our birth.

“Let alone, Hungary should have a day of celebrating fashion”. Also a true thought “Be creative and not monotonous”, these were the opening words of Ms. Kata Jaksity, spokelady, Budapest Essential Looks. What can the visitors expect: Friday’s fashion day for the youth. Saturday: show of Hungarian manufactures. Sunday: A little space will be devoted to the wedding, hence the Spring is on its way. Mr. Gábor Balczer, FIAT Marketing Director was next and took the floor. More than 100 competitors took part within their imagination to add a new face to the FIAT Panda. The entry winner of the competition was Mr. Balázs Fischer’s Fiat Panda “colorful new dress”, voted by the audience.

Another grand sponsor of the Trend-Bang Fair is the MeeD, belonging to the Visegrád Fund “V4”, that stands of: the Polish Cultural Institute, the Czech and the Slovak Centre and of course us the Hungarians. Their meeting is supported by the Institute of Eastern and Central Eastern European Design. “Throughout the Fair seven foreign designers will be present. Those visitors who are interested in their products can listen to their presentation on the coming Sunday in English language.” said by Ms. Szilvia Szigeti, Organiser of “madeinhungary”. Mr. Ferenc Pertus, Artistic Director, representing the PannonArts Gallery gave information on the side of jewelry. There was a proposal of 105 jewelery artists and a number of nine were selected and now their products are exhibited. The collection can be viewed after the close until April, 15 at the a/m Gallery.

Had an interview with Mr. Henning Künstler, Marketing and Sales Manager, Moree Ltd. He briefly described his company saying: “The Moree Ltd was established in 2005 by the founders of Ms. Annette Wasmuth, Mr.Dirk Hagen Zimmermann and Mr. Christian Drawert. Their first product came out in 2006 introducing a new style of indoor and outdoor products. The company is rather small with having 20 employees.
