Hungarian slaughterhouse love story last year at Europe’s first major cinema showcase won top prize “Golden Bear” at Berlin film festival with On Body and Soul.

The drama by Ildiko Enyedi, was one of four female film-makers in competition, features graphic scenes in an abattoir set against the budding romance of two people who share a recurring dream.

This year was announced in L.A. by the American film academy that has nominated Ildikó Enyedi’s romantic drama On Body and Soul for this year’s Academy Award for best foreign language film… so keeping all our fingers crossed!

Hopefully, the movie will be screened to the Academy members in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and London, in order to enable to  see it in advance as possible.

in the previous years Hungary won the Oscar in the category first in 1982 with István Szabó’s – “Mephisto” and in 2016 with László Nemes Jeles’  – “Son of Saul” – Holocaust Drama.
