Saturday, June, 7. – 5 Continents, 30 Countries, 100 organists, 200 programs – Hungary

Night of Organs

Thousands of keyboards and hundreds of organ pipes playing together this week-end.

During the program series, many of the Hungarian organists travel abroad, even to distant continents, and at the same time, many renowned foreign organists perform in Hungary. Organists come from, among others, Notre Dame in Paris, but also from Germany. In many cases, the organ is paired with special instruments, such as the harmonica, folk wind instruments or saxophone, but the events are also enriched by a mix of genres, as there will also be organ puppet shows and theater performances.

Among the venues, the Budapest programs are perhaps the most colorful may witness a unique musical encounter! The world-famous Argentine opera singer José Cura , and the Liszt Prize-winning organist, Szabolcs Szamosi, will give a joint concert that will gift the audience with deep emotions and fascinating musical moments at the Matthias Church, and the Liszt Academy will host a monumental double concert with soloists Christian Schmitt and Vincent Dubois. At the first concert, the two artists will perform three large-scale, orchestral organ works with Concerto Budapest, followed by an intimate, candlelit encore performance from 11 p.m. with selected works from the French and German repertoire.

Outside Hungary, they will also join the event in Transylvania, Felvidék, Croatia and Délvidék, and this will be the second time that they will participate in the program outside the borders of historical Hungary, all over the world, on every continent except Antarctica. The Organ Night is one of the most popular events of the Hungarian Philharmonic, when the whole world pays attention to the organs. The enthusiasm with which the organists and the audience follow the event is unparalleled. Many of them are not music fans, but getting to know and try out such a huge instrument can be exciting for them too – because there are such programs!

For those who are not black belt organ fans and would rather listen to the organ in combination with other pleasures, there will be a water organ show at the Metopolitan Grand Circus. Also a traveling organ at several points in the city, an organ concert on a Danube boat, at the Széchenyi Baths, and a charity concert at the Institute for the Blind. Furthermore, the program entitled Organ Blossom, which was presented at the Hungarian Music House last year and will be staged at Uránia Cinema this time, will be held again, where the youth concert will be transformed into a dramatized theater production.

Spend this Saturday with the “Queens of Musical Instruments” on the colorful summer relaxation organ programs!
