The openning presentation was held by Ildikó Kiss Károlyné, founder of the Value and Quality Grand Prix Competition System – Q.: “When the Value and Quality Grand Prix Competition was announced in March, most businesses were aware that if they wanted to plan for the long term, they had no other option but to make room for developments, innovation, and ideas based on continuous situational analyses, but many existing uncertainties warned businesses to be cautious. We were pleased to see that the number of newly awarded applicants had increased significantly, and the standard of the works accepted in the most diverse topics was also exceptionally high. We can say that the rank and importance of the Value and Quality Grand Prix Competition and the associated trademark remain unwaveringly significant, said the managing director.

János Latorcai, the Chief Patron of the Value and Quality Grand Prix Competition, highlighted in his welcoming speech by saying Q,: ” The domestic economy continues to be strongly supported by consumer consumption despite the difficulties of the external environment.”

András Tállai Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture. said: Q.:” By awarding the Value and Quality Award Certification Trademark, we not only recognize the work done and its results, but also the efforts made by the applicants for the qualitative development of the domestic economy“.

This year, as a result of the strict five-round evaluation, 40 works from 34 applicants earned the use of the Value and Quality Award Certification Trademark. In addition to the 12 applications from Budapest, 15 applications came from Eastern Hungary and 10 applications came from the western part of the country. 2 applications were submitted by foreign enterprises from Transylvania, and 1 application came from Slovakia.

As is tradition, the main group of agricultural and food products received the most nominations, accounting for 40%. This was followed by the group of cosmetic products and a wide range of leisure-related services, also in higher percentages.

In recognition of their performance, the organizers, as well as various companies, public authorities, and civil organizations, offered additional valuable special prizes to successful applicants and applications in the Value and Quality Grand Prize Competition.

The applications deemed most outstanding were awarded the Value and Quality Grand Prix Certification Trademark and the Value and Quality Grand Prix Honorary Title for the duration of the trademark use. The Standard Awards and Special Awards are certified by a certificate of honor in Hungarian and English, designed by graphic artist Károly Balázs. Its symbol is a unique trophy designed by Andrea Szőcs, the Ferenczy Noémi Award-winning applied artist.

Get Ready … On your mark Kraft Beer Festival … Whoa!

Local and regional breweries from the neighboring countries … plus the selection of the local distributors and the specialties of domestic beer shops again this year in September hit the beer road to the Dürer Kert (Garden), Budapest.

KRAFT has always been for many at the bottom of their hearts. A beer festival featuring regional names where Hungarian kraft breweries are in the spotlight. It’s not an unlimited all-you-can-drink festival (perhaps we’re better known for that), but a token-based, pay-per-drink, casual event for not only the beer geeks but every beer fan (even the ones who just started their journey with special beers).

Needless to say, there will be concerts in the background, also invited food trucks and selectors-djs, but basically, wish to have an all-round, close-knit, outdoor festival with all the good vibes.

The Budapest Beer Week team evokes the unparalleled, liberating atmosphere of international beer festivals with this event, as for the brewers will personally tap their beers, so can have a nice talk between barrel-aged imperial stouts and fruity berliner weisses. Of course, there will also be classic lagers and ales for lovers of more traditional flavors, to make sure everyone finds their happiness at the end of the day.

The entry to the festival is FREE of Charge, but if anyone should like to have some more beers, will have to purchase a KRAFT branded festival-glass, and some tokens. The official currency of the festival is the token. All the BPBW and KRAFT glassware from the previous years are valid, just like the KRAFT tokens you have left from the previous editions.

Why is it worth jumping on the bandwagon now? Besides saving money, there’s another reason: this year, only those who purchase discounted token packages in advance will be guaranteed the official 2025 limited tasting glass. By the second half of the festival, chances are only previous years’ glasses will be left in stock, so if you’re aiming for the brand-new 2025 edition, plan ahead! On th spot options to choose from in 3–4–5 dl sizes, and anyone may also bring their favorite glass from a past year.

Opening hours:
Thursday … September, 11. 4 p.m. – 1 a.m.
Friday … September, 12. 3 p.m. – 2 a.m.
Saturday … September 13. Noon – 2 a.m.
Sunday … September, 14. Noon – 10.30 p.m.

Discover the heart of the Dürer Kert (Garden) nightlife … stroll along the socalled “pub tour” and enjoy your timeout with friends and fantastic beers beside great live music.

Updates: 82nd Venice Film Festival Awards 2025.

The 82nd Venice Film Festival awards ceremony was held on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. The Silent Friend won six awards in Venice, the award for best emerging actor and the International Federation of Film Critics Award went to Ildikó Enyedi’s film.

The Golden Bear-winning and Oscar-nominated director of Body and Soul, Ildikó Enyedi’s new film, The Silent Friend, the female lead Luna Wedler, won the Marcello Mastroianni Award for best emerging actor.
The film took home five additional awards on the day of its world premiere yesterday, the FIPRESCI, INTERFILM, student jury awards, the Oedipus Sustainability Award, and the Green Drop Award. The film is a sensitive and philosophical work that draws a parallel between the relationship between plants and humans. An emotional journey through time, spiced with some humor.

SILENT FRIEND is scheduled to be released in cinemas across Europe this winter, and is distributed by Mozinet in Hungary.

“I have never worked in such special circumstances before, it was a real gift. Ildikó created a secret, safe world. She is very intuitive and really pays attention to her colleagues. The film has made me respect nature much more than before,” said Luna Wedler about the award.

“I first met Luna Wedler in connection with My Wife’s Story. She was the first of the seven young, talented actresses I wanted to see. I stopped work in the middle of the casting and asked Luna for the role, and I canceled the other auditions. I think that says everything about the elemental talent, strength, and brilliance that radiates from her. She also works fantastically disciplined and has a frenetic sense of humor… it is wonderful to work with her,” said Ildikó Enyedi, the film’s director.

Philosophy… “In The Silent Friend, an old tree stands in the middle of a botanical garden. It is lonely, like the other inhabitants of the garden – thousands of kilometers away from their original habitat, so that we can admire and observe them. As we observe them, they observe us. They witness our short, tangled, noisy, and troubled lives. The film tells three stories, three hesitant encounters between man and plant, when these two radically different perceptions are truly connected for a moment. Our human heroes, like the plants in the garden, are outsiders, lonely souls. And they yearn for connection just as they do.”

American director and screenwriter Alexander Payne was the president of the jury, and the members included French director Stéphane Brizé, Italian filmmaker Maura Delpero, Romanian screenwriter and producer Cristian Mungiu, Iranian director Mohammed Raszulof, as well as Brazilian actress Fernanda Torres and Chinese film actress Zhao Tao.

Herald News: “The Operation” – Starring Mark Ruffalo – HBO Max Drama Coming Up on Mondays.

Mare of Eastown, which starred Kate Winsletwas as a small-town Pennsylvania police detective, a terrific crime drama. A detective story, made the most of both its characters and its locations.

Writer-creator Brad Ingelsby leaned into the miniseries, or limited series. And was a one-time story, even the most central characters might die at any point, raising the tension considerably. With its settings, its accents, and its deeply drawn, deeply flawed people, Mare of Easttown was a very memorable HBO drama. But now Ingelsby is back with The Task, a new drama set in Pennsylvania. Once again, we get references to Wawa and Scrapple, visits to Rita’s Water Ice, and lots of Delaware County — or “Delco” — back roads and thick accents. It’s a seven-part drama starring Mark Ruffalo.

Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo), a former priest turned FBI agent turns out, is a lot more complicated than it seems. Robbie Prendergrast (Tom Pelphrey), a thief turned garbage collector, come from two different worlds but face similar internal struggles. As the case unfolds, a clash is inevitable.

Task has a lot of tension, and action, and conflict … but it also has a lot of heart, and deeper meaning. The drama headlines faith and death, love and duty, family and responsibility, and deeper meaning, outweighing the mystery and its actions.

Worthwhile to watch the entire seven-part drama, get into the ideas and the emotions in Task end up outweighing the mystery and the action, and they linger.

The series arrives every Monday with a new episode on HBO Max and HBO, in the original language with Hungarian subtitles and dubbing.

David Gilmour Live at the Circus Maximus @ Rome

Most probably … I’m not alone thrilled to announce the live film of 2024 Rome concert at the Circus Maximus is shortly coming to selected cinemas nationwide this year Wednesday, 17th of September.

Pink Floyd fans will find it worthwhile to check out the national cinema program, as a recording of one of his performances in Rome last year will be released in Hungary.

Live at the Circus Maximus may be the best chance for fans around the world to experience David’s art on the big screen through images from fresh footage.

One of the stops on Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour’s 2024 Luck and Strange tour was at the famous Circus Maximus in Rome. Returning to touring after nearly a decade thanks to the latest album of the same name. Against the backdrop of the ancient ruins of Rome, the album’s songs will obviously resonate, such as a new cover of “Between Two Points”, but of course there will also be real Pink Floyd classics such as “Sorrow”, “High Hopes”, “Breathe (In the Air)”, “Time”, “Wish You Were Here” and “Comfortably Numb”. The Luck and Strange 23 concert quickly sold out, and with no new event on the horizon in Gilmour’s calendar at the moment.

The work was directed by Gavin Elder, who has worked with Duran Duran on music videos and concert recordings since 2004 and with Gilmour since 2006, so the motion picture recordings of the tours held in the mid-2010s were also made under his direction. The two and a half hour Roman evening featured 23 songs in total, of which the aforementioned “Between Two Points” was performed in a duet with his daughter. The movie version stored 22 tracks for eternity in 142 minutes. The performance and its soundtrack will also be released as a double CD edition 1 month after the movie premiere (with the song missing from the film included), so those who may miss the extras provided by the movie experience won’t have to wait long for it.

The tour first warmed up with two shows in Brighton, then followed by a 6-day trip to Rome, which was then followed by the legendary Royal Albert Hall in London, then the equally iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and finally the equally emblematic Madison Square Garden in New York.

During last October music release, the 23 tracks will be released as a selection, so not all of them will be from the filmed Roman evening, so it may also contain some new material for those lucky enough to catch a movie screening.

Don’ miss your chance to experience.

The concert film is for a limited time only, so it is recommended to find and book tickets for your preferred screening A.S.A.P.

The film distributed by Pannónia Entertainment.
