Since 2018 – (except for 2020) – The TIME Weekly-News Magazine has compiled a list of the world’s most interesting new and relevant sights, countries, and cities every year. This year for the first time in the history of the ranking list, a Hungarian location had been included on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the unification of Budapest adding several attractions highlighted in the capital, including the reborn Saint Stephen Hall – Castle Palace @ Buda. Several elements of the National “Hausmann” Program were added to the list of 50 locations. The rebuilt Saint Stephen Hall … the General Guard building … the Tower of Karakas Pasha in the Quarter of the Castle Palace – Buda on the list of the most beautiful places in the World.
In recent years internal layout, materials, decoration and furnishings all followed upon the Hausmann’s original plans. Design has been assisted by surviving plans, sketches and photos, the fittings and furniture are being made in about twenty workshops throughout the country by craftsmen who were in use of original materials to produce the ornate furnishings with the highest level of accuracy. The reconstruction works carried out to make sure this part of the city a lively and attractive location again. The current summary also clearly showed that the National Hausmann Program was not only a development program, but also a worthy restoration at the Quarter of the Castle Palace – Buda. The Saint Stephen Hall which was opened a year-and-a-half ago, is truly a world-famous sight, as it was proven way back at the World Exhibition @ Paris 1900.
