New Modern Aircraft and Launch Flights to 3 New Destinations from Budapest in 2020

Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air will launch flights from Budapest to Brussels International Airport,  to the Ukrainian cities of Kharkiv and Lviv, from the 1st of June 2020, Stephen Jones, Wizz Air deputy CEO and managing director of Wizz Air Hungary, said  during the morning hours at the press call on Tuesday. The low-cost airline’s new generation narrow-body aircraft will be launched for the first time at the Budapest base.

Also added that the Wizz Airʼs fleet is becoming increasingly environmentally friendly as it continues to acquire new aircraft, the airline. The first Airbus A321neo aircraft arrived at the Budapest base this year in March. Currently, a total of six such planes are in service in Budapest. Wizz Air is the “greenest” airline. The new generation of engines in the Airbus A321neo, together with industry-leading cockpit innovations, in fuel consumption decrease is 20%. The Airbus A321neoʼs noise pollution is nearly 50% lower than previous models, while its nitrogen oxide emissions are also 50% lower than its predecessors. With CO2 emissions of 57.7 g per passenger/kilometer, Wizz Air has the lowest ecological footprint among all the European airlines.

With the arrival of the new A321neo, Wizz Air’s Budapest fleet will expand to 14 members, while the airline’s Debrecen base will serve 2 aircraft. The airline indirectly supports the creation of more than 4,000 jobs in Hungary. In addition to the new destinations, Wizz Air will significantly increase the frequency of flights to Eindhoven, St. Petersburg, Tel Aviv and Edinburgh starting in December. With this capacity expansion, Wizz Air will increase its domestic capacity to 6.7 million in 2020.
