The consistent pursuit of organizers is to move closer to the ‘east’ and ‘west’ positions, to support Eastern European musicians, ie to straighten the course. Budapest RITMO – 2017., offers unique productions this year with the world music artists arriving from over 20 countries, performing 3 days at several stages of the Aquarium Club, organized by CAFe Budapest and Hangvető.
A wide-spread of bands from the Central European region will be hosted. From contemporary classical music to theater premieres, from popular music and jazz to dance and visual art, the art of our times will again be highlighted in the Hungarian capital during October 6-11. 2017.In the vein of last year’s Ritmo, new co-operation between Hungarian and foreign artists will be fostered, exceptional productions born. This October, violin phenomenon Félix Lajkó with fascinating Polish string band VOŁOSI will blow you away; the young stars of tambour, Söndörgő and Amsterdam Klezmer Band will team up to rock you. Veronika Harcsa sings with explosive Transglobal Underground & Fanfara Tirana. The legendary singer Mónika Miczura “Mitsou” of Ando Drom fame and Tunisian Jawhar will enchant you with their delicate duet. A superb occasion to get to know more about the best Central and Eastern European bands. Check out the rarely heard South American and African artists in the heart of Budapest: Akvárium Klub, for 3 days.
Budapest Ritmo Conference is the biggest world music forum in Central Europe. Actors in the scene discuss current trends and challenges from an international vantage point, with a marked Central European focus. This year panels deal with: organizing tours in Central and Eastern Europe and overseas; key players in the world music industry; working with agents; trends in music education; promoting bands from the Balkans. Budapest Ritmo Conference offers insight into the music industry, a great occasion for networking, getting to know the movers and shakers of world music and addressing current topics. On the 5th of October Hungarian and foreign bands selected by an international jury. The well-known in the profession Ben Mandelson … He has been 30 years ago in the London pub at the birth of a world music band.
