Still 8 DAYS to come … hurry-up … catch-up … sign-up … to be at the start-off … to participate Hungary’s best-known running event.

SPAR Marathon® Hungary’s largest recreational sports event is running your way!

At the SPAR Budapest Marathon® press conference were present Budapest’s Deputy Mayor Dr Anett Bősz responsible for human areas – marathon runner – spoke about her own experiences, saying that the marathon does not begin with the start, nor does it end at the finish line. The person who crosses the finish line is not the same person who warmed up in the starting zone in the morning. Running a marathon is a way of life, when we experience that we ourselves are our own chance and opportunity.

Árpád Kocsis – executive competition director – Budapest Sports Office (BSI) said: “Q” : “The running fever is rising higher-and-higher in getting closer to the forthcoming SPAR Marathon® Hungary! Entries are pouring in from all corners of the country. Almost eighteen thousand Hungarians from 800 domestic settlements and more than two thousand foreign runners from 83 countries are to be enjoying their enter to Budapest’s world heritage panorama on October, 8-9.” Also added „Q”:The event is held each year over a weekend in the season of Fall. The „Marathon” begins with several shorter races for runners of all ages and abilities. Expecting more than 30000 individuals to put on their running shoes to start at one of the distances, “e.g”. 600-meter family run, and 5, 10, 30 kms. and/or the marathon relay, up to the classic marathon distance.

Máriusz Révész – State Secretary responsible for Active Hungary, emphasized: „Q”: “The Eurobarometer research was published recently, in which it was found that 71% of people in Hungary do not exercise at all or just very rarely. This figure puts us far behind the EU average. Because of our health and mental state, we definitely have to change this percentage! A well-organized event change the minds of people in having enormous power to start a heathier sporty life and many people start running, swimming, and/or cycling because they realize how good they feel after their activity.”

One of the special features of Saturday, October 8. is the jubilant 10th FODISZ Equality Run. László Szabó president of the National Association of Students, Competitions and Leisure Sports of the Disabled said the following: ”Q”: “The event invites young people living with disabilities, people with limited mobility, and those who want to express their solidarity to run a symbolic 500-meter distance. The aim of the program is to enable those children with disabilities to experience the joy and excitement of racing, for whom active sports are not necessarily part of everyday life. We also specifically welcome participants who want to express their sympathy to their fellow human beings with special needs. This also promotes social integration in the field of Hungarian sports. In light of this, outstanding athletes and para-athletes will also visit the movement, who will run together with the applicants. The race creates an excellent opportunity for community building and networking.”

The 37th SPAR Budapest Marathon® starts on Saturday morning October, 8. at 9 a.m. from the Pázmány Péter promenade. The 42,195-meter distance can be completed individually, in pairs, and/or in a four-person relay within the framework of the Tolle Marathon Relay. Around 1200 organizers and directors work on the safe conduct of the event during the two days.

Márk Maczelka – Head of Communications SPAR Hungary said:„Q”: “Since 2008, our company has been the title sponsor and main supporter of the SPAR Budapest Marathon® Festival. It is one of the largest recreational sports events in Hungary and Europe, which is also the featured running race of the year and a social event at the same time. Its primary goal is to make as many people as possible fall in love with running and to draw attention to the importance of a health-conscious, sporty lifestyle. We provide free entry for our own community and colleagues, thereby motivating them to participate and exercise regularly. The health-conscious lifestyle – to which we are committed not only with our products, but also with our social responsibility activities – is also promoted at this event.” He added „Q”: The course is a mix of gravel and pavement to ease the knees with some rolling hills to keep the legs awake on the entire route. The SPAR Marathon course opens the eyes especially to the foreigners participating in the run and will guarantee to make them fall in love with all its beauty of Budapest as racing to cross the finish line.”

Charity activities are traditionally associated with the two-day running festival. Thanks to the event’s 9 charitable partner organizations and the approximately 800 fund-collecting or donating participants, the “charity yield” of the two days can reach 10 million HUF.

At the end of the press conference, a one million HUF grant was symbolically handed over. The “Aktív Magyarországért” (Active for Hungary) award, established in 2021. It was one of the first to receive the Budapest Sport Office last November in recognition of its decades of activity in the field of promoting an active lifestyle. The two executives decided not to keep the one million HUF associated with the award, but to be in use to support the work of the “Sarolta Monspart Healthy Lifestyle Foundation”, which takes care of the spiritual and material legacy of Sarolta Monspart, who died last year. Botond Feledy, son of Sarolta Monspart and Péter Feledy, received the plaque representing this support from István Máth, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, and also managing director of BSI.

The Marathon runners can enjoy the world heritage panorama of Hungary’s capital during running along designated sites. The competitors rolling over the River Danube bridges, three of which glinting the sights of Budapest and also enjoying their en route through Margitsziget (Margaret Island). Along the marathon route, 36 musical stations add strength to continue the runners passing by. Expecting a large number of audience en route to vision the runners and to cheer them on their way. This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This years the 4 days Wine Festival on the hilly side Budapest upon the Buda Castle area a fine time to enjoy the mouthwatering Hungarian and American wines.  As entering to the venue had a glance at the stand of the Džiugas cheese and was invited to taste samples of their 12 months – mild, piquant – 18 months, delicante – 24 months, gourmet – 36 months organic cheeses. Was told that the cheeses are from the best orgnic farms and valuable summer milk! They do not use preservatives, are lactose-free, and can be consumed by vegetarians. It is extremely rich in calcium. The cows at the organic farms freely graze the pastures surrounding by the stream and hills of Samogitia. The cheeses aging of the presses takes place alongside classical music, and  by the vibration of the music enhance the maturation the world of rich taste even more. Was also told the 12 and the 18th months aged cheese can be purchased at several food stored in Hungary.
The origin of the name of cheese is in the Samogitian legend that says … The Džiugas was a giant and a strong warrior, who lived in Samogitia in the old days and protected it against invaders. This could have been the end of the story, but once, he met Austelė – a farmer’s beautiful daughter – fell in love with her and married her. According to Samogitian traditions, after the wedding night the newly-weds must show the guests the cheese that they’ve made. The giant Džiugas and his wife Austelė showed their guests a strong, large and delicious cheese and all guests loved them.
Absolutely not to missed to taste these very delicious cheeses at the Buda Castle Wine Festival- Budapest.
The visitors to the wine festival are welcomed with tastings and sales.

Leslie Mandoki – Motto …”It is always important to build bridges and easy on the wavelength of music.”

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Mandoki Soulmates … visited the band rehearsal for the 30th anniversary concert, which took place in the Bem Klub upstairs room (District, I., 6. Bem rakpart Budapest). … (Just mentioning (editor’s comment) this historical venue was in the old days the unforgiven gatherness, controlled spot for individuals /groups/ bands to come together by the existing government. One of the famous “Sirius” group rehersaled here in the late 70s (one of my favorite musician Jackie Orszaczky known personally) the group style was characterized by the progressive jazz-rock trend, which did not fit into the “like!” of the dictatorship at the time being, saying that this was pure Western ape. Mandoki sometimes visited wayback that venue and like what he have heard by them.)

After three own music rehearsal songs played together by icons such as Al Di Meola, Randy Brecker, Bill Evans, Jack Bruce, Mike Stern, Ian Anderson, Richard Bon and Takács Tamás Hungarian singer (Carthago band) also joined the international team showing just a peck into the forthcoming next day concert to hear at the Szentháromság Square across the River Danube on the Buda side of Budapest.

Following the rehearsal was held to the media representative a short press hearing, where in brief Mandoki introduced the group to hold the concert tomorrow. Thereafter told his story of how and when left Hungary. The world-renowned musician and music producer Leslie Mandoki, lived in Germany and California since 1975, when decided to defect at the age of 22 – together with his two fellow artists, Gábor Csupó and László Szűcs. Leslie Mandoki, who has a diverse and successful musical career spanning several decades, was the music director of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s campaign, the composer of Disney films, German and American TV films, and, among other things, the pride of his narrower homeland, Bavaria: Bayern Munich and Volkswagen-Audi-Porsche he is also the musical director and consultant of the concern.

He artistically took care of the records of stars such as Chaka Khan, Phil Collins, Lionel Richie, Jennifer Rush. Leslie founded a world-famous record studio 40 years ago, which is the reason for an extra anniversary celebration this year. From the beginning members were Randy Brecker, Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), Al Di Meola, Mike Stern, Chris Thompson (Manfred Mann’s Earth Band), David Clayton-Thomas (Blood Sweat & Tears), Bill Evans (Miles Davis Band) , Bobby Kimball (Toto), Peter Maffay, Nick van Eede (Cutting Crew), Jesse Sibenberg (Supertramp) and John Helliwell (Supertramp).

Few thoughts he shared: at the press gathering:“Q” The team is based on common human, moral and artistic values, and respectful humility towards the audience. 30 years ago we agreed that we would only communicate directly with each other, leaving managers, concert organizers, record companies and lawyers out of the equation. This is the only way to bring together and keep together this team of world stars in such an excellent way.” Also added “Q” His fellow musicians “Soulmates” is also unique thanks to the world stars: the frontman and bandleaders of the legendary bands do not simply form a band, but also a deepen their community of values.

The 30th anniversary concert starting at 7 p.m. on August, 19 @  the Buda Castle, Szentháromság Square, will be open to the public free of charge as part of the St. Stephen’s Day celebration series.

In briefly about the next day’s concert… Strong winds, thunder, heavy lightning lightened up the sky and
due to the storm approaching the capital, the organizers informed Mandoki that the open-air 30-year anniversary concert performance had to be interrupted, but the musician did not want to accept the decision therefore the organizers announced that they would turn off the electricity and called on the audience to leave quickly.

Ice Cream of the Year Competition 2022 – Final

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This year, the award of the Hungarian Confectionery Industry Association was presented for the 25th time, and just as in the previous years, the ceremonial award ceremony and press conference was held at Zila Cafe and Krisztina Confectionery @ Budapest.

A total of 74 ice creams entered the Ice Cream of the Year competition in four categories this year. There was no mandatory taste this year, the aim of which is to promote classic and traditional high-quality artisanal ice cream, nothing set limits to the creativity of the contestants. This year 12 ice creams made it to the finals in the handicraft categories, which the contestants had to make in the presence of the jury. 27 ice creams competed for the places in the category of raw material producers-distributors.

Before and after the ceremony, were also available for tasting the finalist ice creams of the craft categories, 27 competition ice creams of the company category.

The aim of the competition is to promote traditional, high-quality artisanal ice cream, so that the Hungarian confectionery can offer its guests even better quality ice creams, thereby creating a demand among people for healthy and high-quality, artisanal products. This year, it was possible to enter again in the “Free” category, with ice creams that cannot contain added sugar, gluten, lactose, or milk protein. These ice creams are becoming more and more popular among guests with conscious nutritional needs and guests with various food intolerance.

Competition ice creams could only be made with natural basic and additional ingredients, flavored and decorated exclusively with self-made dressings. This year, the “M – Free” category was announced again, in which competitors could enter ice creams free of added sugar, gluten, lactose and milk protein.

Árpád Szűcs, the chairman of the professional jury, said: “They sought balance and creativity in fixtures and decor. The reason the sky high price 500HUF is increasing – along with many other products the price of raw materials, their lack in many cases, or the lack of labor. In addition, according to the current regulations, ice cream in cones must be sold with 27% VAT, which means a great burden on the operation of pastry shops and ice cream parlors.”

Anyway, no doubt and regardless to the high price of ice cream within rich yummy flavors has no individual age limit when it comes to different yummy melting flavors that’s for sure.

Modern Day Elvis … George Michael Freedom Uncut Documentary

uncut gearge Michael dumentary

Sony Music, Trafalgar Releasing and Pannonia Entertainment Ltd., will present George Michael‘s last work, Freedom Uncut, will be a one-time exceptional evening on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, to watch his 110-minute musical documentary. In English language with Hungarian subtitles.

A deeply autobiographical feature documentary narrated by the late Grammy® Award winner.
GEORGE MICHAEL FREEDOM UNCUT will be released as a global cinema event.

Throughout the documentary Michael reveals two distinct sides of his life: his very public music career and his private personal life and why he turned his back on the rivalry light, the celebrity lifestlye. The “uncut version” of George Michael Freedom’s musical documentary focuses on the defining era in the life and career of the late Grammy-winning artist, which also saw the release of the first installment of the highly successful album, Listen Without Prejudice, and the famous Supreme Court that followed. The lawsuit against the record’s publisher, as well as the death of George Michael’s first love, Anselmo Feleppa … and so in addition to the professional aspects, it is understandably throat-tight.

The film covers the turbulent period after Faith leading up to, during and after the making of his Listen Without Prejudice: Vol 1 album in 1990.

A deeply autobiographical feature documentary narrated by … who else could it be … hearing the late Grammy® Award winner the singer himself … shot before his early death, George took part in every moment of the film’s production, so the film can also be considered a swan song.

George Michael Freedom Uncut is also a brilliant reminder of Michael’s outstanding musical genius during the Wham! years and throughout his solo career.

The film features timeless duets with George’s favorite artists and explores how he influenced the cultural landscape of his generation as one of the world’s best-selling artists of all time.

Interviews with George Michael’s most famous friends – Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Ricky Gervais, Nile Rogers, Mark Ronson, Tracey Emin, Liam Gallagher, Mary J. Blige, Jean Paul Gaultier, James Corden and Tony Bennett were also conducted.

GEORGE MICHAEL FREEDOM UNCUT will be released as a global cinema event.

See the Cimemas Budapest showtime: https://www.georgemichaelfreedomuncut.com/

This will be a one-time screening exceptional evening opportunity to watch the documentary … Mark the DATE – CINEMA – GET YOUR SEAT … already out now … watch this unforgettable talent who has gone ahead … but his music will surely remain within us.
