(Press release) The 36th MEDIAWAVE International Film and Music Festival will once again be held on the shores of Lake Balaton, at Szigliget Castle, between April 30 and May 3, 2026. The international film and music gathering returns for the 36th time. The film program are selected from 670 nominated works from 42 countries, a diverse musical offering and rich accompanying programs meet the unique, genre-blending spirit of the festival.

The festival is not only about films: in addition to jazz, world music and folk music, special DJ sets will provide the atmosphere every day. During the day, workshops, a fair, a community table and theater productions await those interested, while the genre mixes and unexpected musical encounters typical of MEDIAWAVE promise a defining experience this year as well – one exciting example of this is the performance of the eclectic ethno-funk formation Cpt. Fonk from Belgium.

The musical program includes well-known Hungarian and international performers such as Parno Graszt, Góbé, György Ferenczi and 1ső Pesti Rackák, from the electronic music scene Óperentzia, Obadu Live and the Montanaro–Zlatanos live act duo, while the world of jazz is represented by the Barabás Lőrinc Quartet and the Geröly Space Quartet. The Flock Projekt air theater will also be presenting its new performance.

Mark the date not to be missed by you.

25th Savaria Historical Carnival @ Szombathely

Savaria Historical Carnival  August 13–16, 2026.

The “modern” carnival will be 25 years old in 2026.

Szombathely’s largest and most popular event, the Savaria Historical Carnival, will celebrate her the 25th anniversary of its “modern history” next year. The event has been a prominent heritage tourism event in the Western Transdanubia region since 2000, attracting hundreds-and-thousands of people to the city every year.

Today, the festival has become a unique, historicizing, high-quality event in Szombathely and Vas counties, attracting the largest audience.

In order to celebrate the 2026 jubilee in a worthy manner, preparations have already begun this year.

As a first step, the organizers have determined the date of next year’s carnival, carefully considering the dates of national festivals and major jubilee events.

By announcing the date early, their goal is to reach the widest possible audience: artists, performers, merchants, and visitors alike and to begin joint preparations for the quarter-century celebration in time.

The anniversary carnival will offer special programs, novelties and festive surprises for all those who would like to be part of the 25th anniversary Savaria Historical Carnival experience.

Usually do not share recommendation months-and-months earlier than acctually to programs but this time maybe anyway worthwhile to mark the date in your callender will not be missed to visit.
