Zánka – is the gate of the Káli Basin said Miklós Filep – mayor of Zánka, who arrived to the venue and spoke at the inauguration of Eye of the Sea  saying that this place is a real gap-filling tourist attraction – curiosity in the region.

Zánka’s specialty “summer with your horse” As far as they know, it does not offer any such program in any place close to Lake Balaton. The guest can not only spend their vacation with family, but also bring their dog and to bring their own horse to the venue.

Interview with the owner of Eye of the Sea – Tenger-Szem – part1

Q.: What is your connection to Zánka?

A.: Partly from Révfülöp and I have horse crazy children. But we didn’t plan to jumble into it at all. I saw this place completely unabated, which has not been a riding school for years and was for sale, and we had a drram and came together to bring what the family loves because we are many and everyone can find what they love. We don’t come here on vacation instead we do tidy up … clean the boxes … take care of the horses … do handy works if needed by building/screwing the fence… we are not only owners, but carpenters, we clean, we take care of everything around the house.

Q.: How long has this place existed?

A.: It has been around for a long time, we took it over a year ago, and since then we have been working on it from morning to night, trying to make it a habitable-livable-lovable place. Previously, it was a tourist accommodation with bunk beds, the restrooms were outside, and we remodeled them so that every part of the apartment should have a bathroom in every part of the apartment, because the previous accommodation would have been unavailable. We are working to preserve the natural environment. After the change of the warming weather, we started to pay attention to the soil and started planting plants that can withstand the changing weather and of the special climate of the Káli Basin.

There are caravans in these agricultural areas. The horses live here. We do not own the horses we rent them. We can provide accommodation, at the moment in 8 rooms for 22 people, What we can provide in the accommodation, guest may order breakfast and a simpler dinner. We also made a sauna and heated rooms for cooler periods. A pre-existing lake has been completed, with a chemical-free, self-cleaning equipment. The shoreline of Lake Balaton can also be seen from the pension, and people can even walk to the shores of Lake Balaton.

Q.: What are the upcoming events in mind?

A.: We will also try to do slightly more special events. In fact, next year we will fully start the season starting from March, and by then we will try to make the rooms even more comfortable with air conditioning, there will be a smaller conference room for team builders to accommodate about 20 people. I wish to take our kitchen to a slightly higher level than it is now. Goal is to local home-made gastronomy.

I can attest to this already mouthwatering food on the spot… and it doesn’t have to be a Michelin-starred chef around, cause both chefs have created a masterpiece meal here, they made such a stew of beef and game meat in a cauldron on the open fire that I haven’t eaten such juicy, tasty, soft meat in many domestic restaurants and of course the inevitable home-made nokedli the Hungarian pasta.

Part 2 coming up…
