The most greenie house in Budapest and for sure, nobody “turned green”!

 Only for the guests  having to have worn something green, if not … upon  their arrival at the entrance gate they received a green color silk ribbon.

 

TUESDAY, June, 26. 2012.

 Over 150 representatives of the real estate community – architects, investors, agents, business partners, and future tenants of Green House ABB and AVIS – joined the Skanska Property Hungary team on Tuesday’s special event.

The official „Topping Out” at the Skanska’s Green House opening ceremony was held by Ms. Anna Boda, Deputy Head of Sweden’s Embassy in Budapest.

“It is truly an honour and a privilege for me to take part in the Topping Out ceremony for this fantastic building – the first LEED Platinum pre-certified office building in Hungary. The climate and the environment are a common concern for all of us, and as a Swede, I am particularly proud that a Swedish company like Skanska can be at the forefront of green building development here in Budapest” were her opening thoughts.

Skanska Property Hungary had three momentum to celebrate on 26 June. Besides the global celebration of Skanska’s of its 125th anniversary, Budapest is also celebrating a quarter decade of developing Skanska landmarks. Not bad for an age of a company rolling along with its success and let alone a young adult in age of being actively present in Hungary.The Nordic region ’s Skanska brand is most probably well know around the world as the biggest builder company.

As Ms. Anna Boda continued with figures that sounded pretty frightening by saying:„The world’s population is growing and it is growing very fast. By the year 2050 there will be 9 billion of us, up from to-day’s 6 billion. The impact on our environment will be tremendous. Every economy is to build sustainable urban areas to ensure human well-being to-day and tomorrow. It is a MUST thing to deal with now because the majority will live in cities. Cities are and have always been centers for cultural life and economic growth. The main challenges are well-known: water and food supply, transport systems, waste disposal, threats to fauna and flora and, of course, the CO₂ emissions and climate change. Managing the areas of urban growth is crucial to every decision maker.The Swedish Government has, together with the private sector, launched a program called: SymbioCity. The aim is to find the best practices for sustainable city development and in finding the best and most profitable ways of doing so.The Embassy and the Swedish Trade Council have been working together with the Hungarian government, the city of Budapest and Swedish companies such as Skanska, in the framework of SymbioCity and Green Sweden for three years now. We’ve had joint seminars and projects, one such project was the green development of a playground at Margaret Island “Margirsziet”.

On this milestone day, representing the Skanska Commerical Development in Europe, Mr. Nickles Lindberg, President of the Business Unit, emphasized the significant role Hungary. He mentioned: “During the period of time Skanska brought under the roof the following projects: the first landmark was the East-West Business Center, then after come more-and-more sophisticated buildings like the Science Park, Retail Park at Soroksár and at Budakalász, “Népliget” Center.

By the 1970s, decades of heavy industrialization had finally taken their toll on Sweden. Polluted air, dead forests, wastelands and toxic water were everyday news. To cap it all, Sweden was the most oil-dependent country in the industrialised world.

Dr. Tamás Szentes, Deputy Mayor of Budapest reflected with pleasure on the sophisticated green building to be pulled up in his district and the impotency of having more-and-more  green scenarios in  Budapest.

Mr. Grzegorz Strutyns,  Managing Director gave an excellent overview showing  a movie  covering architectural details of all Skanska projects built between the year 1987 and 2012.

For over three years the Hungarian government  have had been jointly working together  with  the Swedish Embassy in Budapest and the Swedish Trade Council, also the City of Budapest and the  Swedish company, the Skanska  in the frame of  SymbioCity. They  had joint seminars and projects One of the projects was the green development of a playground on the Margaret Island “Margitsziget”.

Getting to the end of the  celebration, an awesome Eco-Design Greenie Fashion Show  was out on the catwalk.  Have  to admit the imagination of designer artists surely took the attention of the guests.  From a distance you could hardly believe they were all  “tailored”  from recycle materials.

HUNGARIAN’S WORLD CONVENTION JULY 1-8. 2012. BUDAPEST

 

EIGHT DAYS A WEEK … DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR, YES I GUESS SO, BUT IT IS NOT ABOUT THE BEATLES TUNE … IT IS ABOUT THE HUGE INTERNATIONAL GATHERING EVENT OF THE HUNGARIANS WORLD CONVENTION TO BE HELD BETWEEN JULY 1-8. 2012. IN HUNGARY.

The event is to connect and offer the possibilities of co-operation for those who are seeking, ready, to promote the reputation of the Hungarian values and to „broadcast” it around the Globe.

Was present at the invitation to the Hungarians World Convention press  and media meeting  held in the late morning hours on Wednesday at the „Urania” National Theater and Cinema cafeteria (District VIII. – 21. Rákóczi Rd.), whereas the media and press representative gain information about the forthcoming events to be taking place between July, 1-8. This year throughout the country the wind will blow to the high events of  seven cities and towns participating at these gatherings: the Capital, two city around the Lake Balaton: Balatonlelle and Fonyód, Szeged, Nyirbátor, Örkény, Máriapócs.

The Hungarians World Convention is organised within the co-operation of the “Panoráma”  World Club Network and with the support of several other groups, also those Hungarians (originated from Hungary and individuals with Hungarian roots, born in other states will highlight the events arriving from all corners of the Earth. These guests will be arriving from 42 countries, just mentioning a couple but the list is not complete: Australia, folks from several  states of America United: Florida – Arizona – New York, Peru, India, Brazil, Nigeria,  Argentina, Indonesia, Mauritania and Nigeria.

Individuals coming from abroad will be representatives of the civil sectors, sportworld, culture, science, art, public life and from the economy field.

Are you ready for your participation and event planning? Here comes a choice you might be interested in the days to come. Since some of these events are also taking place outside of Budapest, therefore the Hungarian National Railway Ltd. (MÁV) offers a 50% discount of railway tickets that leads to these programs. At the scenarios all you have to do is to get a stamp on your ticket as to show you  are participating at the event. The admission to these events are free of charge to kids under the age of 14. The adults ticket price is 1000HUF to each event.

It would be hard to give a list of all the events that will take place, anyway just an overview of what is to come: There will be around a 100 events,  entertaining at twelve locations. These are  folk dancing with instructors, exhibitions, a display of „Hungaricums” and a folk handcrafts fair and plenty of discussions of  how can Hungarians keep the light on within their culture and identity living in other parts of the world.

The majority gatherings will be held in the Capital. The majority of the events will be held  at the “Uránia” National Theater and Movie House (District VIII.  21, Rákóczi Rd.- Budapest)). The “SYMA” Entertainment Center (District XIV. 1, Dózsa György Road – Budapest), it is an indoor place, just to skip a rainy day, if any at all. At the opening and the ending of the Hungarians World Convention a religion service will be  both  held at the “Kálvin” Square Reformed Church (District IX.  28 , Ráday Str. – Budapest ) and some programs at the “Stefánia” Stephanie Palace (District XIV.  34-36, Stefánia Rd. – Budapest).

The Madison Store in Budapest had opened in the year 2011 and since then the magnificent quality was,  is, will be regularly on the shelves just for you to pick it up. Yes, the products are not unexpressive, but the ingredients  they hold are not just a drop in the Ocean like  many Malls beauty stores have. The ingredients within these products are so healthy for your skin that actually your skin “eats” them with pleasure and the result of feeding your skin can be visualized by the looks, the glow of happiness and of a healthy individual. The Madison store has pre-educated expertises and you can be confident with their knowledge you will find the exact personal sense, makeups, fragrances and leave the store by wearing it with pride and pleasure.

I had a chance to meet with the charming lady Ms. Madeleine Florescu, the  owner of the MADISON, who grew up in New York City. She has been working with luxury cosmetic products since 1993. She told me she is always thrilled to be in Budapest! “I have a busy schedule, but try to make it to Budapest, whenever a newline of  luxury products come to my store.” Asked her how she found this place:  “It was probably, a meant to be place I was dreaming of and woke up when I found this shop, as a fascinating  jewelry box. I saw many stores on this oldest boulevard in Budapest. It  reminded me of the scenario on the Avenue on the Champs-Elysees, wide road with old  trees crowned with heavy green leaves.” She continued by saying:  “I was sitting with friends outside at an old coffee shop just on the opposite site of this old medicine store. As I was having  the delicious Hungarian coffee and watching the world go by, I noticed this charming little store that was out on sale. Immediately, I feel in love and knew this is the place I have dreamt of opening my Madison luxury perfumery store in Budapest. A perfect place and the unique environment will not only speak for itself, but also the sense that will flow out of the store will welcome many individuals. You just cannot find too often many places like this as  more than 100 years old stores with their original installation. To have found this place was like finding a treasure box.” 

Madeleine  added. “I try to make it to my stores at an arrival of each-and-every new products that are significant and  principle of adequate to stand in the frame for the label of Madison.”  Madeleine could only stay for a short visit, because she was heading to Bucharest, where she closed two previous smaller shops as to open her new Madison store. A larger in size and close to the  downtown area at Bucharest. With her wide smile she said: “Well the street there in Bucharest is not as wide as the Andrássy Blvd. here in Budapest, but at least there is one beautiful tree full of leaves in front the new Madison Store.”

During the late morning hours Ms. Kirsten Kjaer Weis held her premiere presentation at the Budapest’s Madison Store. Ms. Kirsten Kjaer Weis, is a Danish-born makeup artist based in New York. In her young adult years she  had a love for architecture and her intention was to study in that field, but previously to her studies she heard about a make-up school in Paris. Then decided she will go for it, as she said:  “I always loved the colors and thought it might be interesting to learn about colors and so forth. So I went to Christian Chaveau’s make-up school.” From then on for her there was no question to continue as a freelance, as  to be  a makeup artist, but not just an ordinary makeup artist, but to produce an  “eco-friendly”  organic line of makeups.  One of her biggest challenge was to bring her unique makeup out on the market was the housing of her products. As she continued: “I wished the packing to be recyclable to add a little protection  to our environment and would not wished to have the cheap looks”. Concentrating on this effort  she did it backwards.  Turned to Mr. Marc Atlan, the awarded designer. They hand-in-hand worked on an enamel casing and collectible metal that will be in use for a lifetime. Kristen well said: “As we age the skin becomes matte and non-luminous, therefore we should avoid using powder, instead go for the cream based blush consists of a lip zinc, cream blush and eye shadows that are available in several neutral shades.” More to it she said: “These selection of makeup for face, eyes, lips, cheeks and more are for highlighting our 24 hours/day, whether daytime, evening, party out, gathering, travelling, you name it.”

The makeups are bedded in a metal compact with the white color enameled  logo KW,  that stands for the makeup artist’s name initials.  The outside packing is wrapped in a red color elegantly designed cardboard box. The compacts are all refillable, so when you run out of any of your makeups, your color of choice  can be refilled and stay with you forever.

Ms. Kjaer Weis also spoke about her products that are available in many countries in Europe: Denmark, Spain, France, Romania, Italy, Hungary, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany. The brand is also available in United Kingdom at the Space NK stores.

Even across the Ocean, rolling to Australia and New Zealand they are on the shelves at the MECCA Cosmetica and naturally in the United States of America.

The products are manufactured in Italy, certified by Italian body „CCPB”.

Women of the XXI. century can make themselves look reborn by adding  a little cheek to their own personality with the use of makeups that gives the brightening outside with organic on the inside.

NOVEL …TELEVISION SERIES … STAGE PERFORMANCE

The Lifeline of Abigél (Abigail) was brought alive when the novel was published, written by Ms. Magda Szabó.

„Abigél” was soon a popular novel and also quickly ran out of copies on the shelves at Bookstores.

The novel Abigél, was also adapted, popularised and broadcasted in a four-part series on the Hungarian Television in 1978.

To-day, there may not be many individuals of the „elder generation” who have not read or seen the TV-series.

Ms. Agnes Bánfalvy, the producer believes the drama to the young adults of to-day is also informative.

With this first performance, the 2012.  Budapest  Summer Festival opens a series of superb, entertaining outdoor entertainment to the Summer Festival events.

Abigél’s upcoming performances during the summertime at the Városmajor open-air theater will on stage 4 occasions.

After the summer leaves us, the Budapest’s „Urania” Movie’s Theater will regularly bring on stage this piece of awesome drama.

Just briefly a couple of thoughts to the play: Abigél was based on the novel by Ms. Magda Szabo, which is really worth reading. Basically it’s about a general’s daughter, Gina, whose father decides out of the blue to send her to a boarding school in 1942. She has problems with the other girls in her class and discovers that her father is part of the resistance movement, which is why he sent her away, but that’s just a small part of a really good, complex story.

A rich diversity of special events will run throughout the summer at the Margaret Island’s

Open Air Stage.

Ms. Theodóra Bán,  Festival’s Director designed to provide multi-genre, original shows, theater companies and invited foreign guest artists to a series of events to enrich the capital’s cultural landscape.

Margaret Island will also be a spectacular scene to spend an evening enjoying the smooth fresh air that ain’t too common in a capital city, but the Margaret Island lays in the middle of the River Danube and the busy traffic life is far away from the scene, where in the frame of the Danube Carnival will hold its Open Air Stage performances. Your welcomed to be a part of  it, where around of three hundred International and Hungarian artists along with the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble will surely not only catch your eye but your feet as well.
So be ready for an atmosphere of the various forms of artistic expression like folk dancers (some from overseas), world music, contemporary dance, symphonic and brass music and if this ain’t enough for you, then the Folk Art and Fair will be a crush on you.

Budapest welcomes as usually tourists from each-and-every corner of the Earth, the temporary working, studying young adults here in Budapest and staying, working outside of the capital to join a colorful cultural happening, with concerts and worldwide known musical productions to let your senses feel the emotion of participating at the Duna Carnival  Gala. As the Duna Carnival Gala came to its 17th anniversary, it ain’t a surprise anymore that the countries surrounding the borders of  Hungary, the “Visegrád Countries”  will also be sharing with visitors  the beauty of their traditional folk music and dances.

If you still have energy … and why not, then you shouldn’t miss the highlights of the Carnival’s closing shows and get into the mood to watch the spectacular dancers and musicians from around the fabulous East. Twenty-five countries of a total of 300 professional Hungarian and International artists will unfold their traditional treasures. This is exactly the example of a formation of a “dance chain” that is taken as  a bridge between Nations. As it is also known, as the “Dance House”, it’s a method of dancing that is also implemented in the UNESCO’s Representative List, as the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

During the 10 days, here’s a few awesome folk dancing participant countries to tickle your interest: Azerbaijan, India, China, Turkey, Ukraine. The Visegrád countries: Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia. The  domestic groups: Hungarian State Folk Ensemble, Danube Folk Ensemble.  Look out for the line-up of the Brass Band Budapest, Dance, Danube Carnival Festival Folk, Fun Hungarian, June Outdoors Summer. The organizers thought of  pleasing the kids as well. There will be a spot for the kids at the Vörösmarty Square and if they feel good then you will surely feel good too, simple as that!

Nevermind, if the 10 days list of events tires your feet from folk dancing, then you may roll over anytime to the biggest “greenland”  to the Margaret Island, where the River Danube is floating, cutting its way in two at the most spectacular surrounding sights in Budapest. Relax, enjoy your stay and also give yourself a treat by tasting the traditional Hungarian and International liquid and dry food specialties. How to reach the Margaret Island … no not by swimming! You can  reach the port with ease to the Open Air Stage by boat. This year for the first time, the organizers of the festival and the “Mahart” River Shipping Ltd agreed to  have a more  friendly arrival for the visitors  by opening a new port station just a couple of steps to the Margaret Island’s Theater.  You can port at the bank stations at  the  Vigadó Square, the  Batthyány Square or at the Dráva Street. I bet this sounds pretty good for many individuals.

During the Festival, at the “Dance with Us” market, there will be many handcrafts that you won’t be able to leave and why would you, when you can take them home and being a story-teller, show the items to your family, relatives and friends of the time you had while staying in Budapest and taking part in the world of traditional dancers and music at the Danube Festival.

Hope and wish you will enjoy every minute of your stay and spread the news around your neighbours, cause the show ain’t ending with the Danube Festival Gala … the show goes on until the end of August with many grand performances to still to come at the Margaret Island and also at the Városmajor’s – Garden Theater.
