In-and-around  the Festival of the Jelly Meat  at Miskolc, in between February 22-24, the Miskolc National Theater‘s on  Saturday, February 23. during the season in the series of drama programs, three well-known figures of gentry living with us, previously playing in the “Csörgheő Csuli – knuckle” by outstanding well-known actors as Mr. György Cserhalmi, Mr. András Stohl and Mr.Tibor Gáspár came along to show their own tricks and knowlege by the way of cooking the famous Hungarian Grey Beef Stew! Each of them brought their own style by cooking with the flavors from their birth region and the family use of spices. More to the gathering they talked about their role in the character, playing “Csörgheő Csuli Knuckle”, script written by Zsigmond Móricz. As the stew was on open fire the ongoing tasting went on-and-on. Also by tasting the other’s boiling stews, picking on eachother with jokes whileand  having some pálinka in the deepth of the  snowy cold weather to be hot just as the stew on fire. Theysurely caught the mood and enjoyed their role in cooking as well. Mr. Tibor Gáspár told us, this is his first time cooking the Hungarian grey beef soup…haa. Mr. Sohl said his father cooked the best beef stew in the world so he wish to cooking it  ala father’s sytle. Mr. Cserhalmi told us, his convincted this stew will win the first prize :-). We awaited for the surprise at the end. Must admit all the stews were heavenly yummy, soft and tender was the meat, perfectly cooked.

The stews were still of fire when  the talk-show went on in the theater’s main stage. The “Csuli Chief’s” assistants took over the woodenspoon, looked after the composition.  The show started with a huge birthday cake rolling onto the stage .. .it was Mr. András Stohl’s birthday and recently Mr. György Cserhalmi’s as well. Funny when it comes to talking about the exact year of a person’s birthday, so the moderator only added the three of the actors age in years as  total of 111years. The talk-show was moderated by Mr. Artúr Szőcs.

At the end of the talk-show, the audience were called to have a taste of the three “cookers”  beef stew and decide which one was the best in flavors and taste. Yet, before the tasting was open,  on stage came 5 genuine gypsy violin players to enroll in the competition. The “Csuli’s” at the end decided whose primate play was the best. In the competition all gypsy players were from the region of Borsod.  The four out of the five competitors are already famous, well-known gypsy violin players around the world. There was also a member in competition who plays at the 100 member gypsy orchestra, but this evening the three Csuli members  called out as one for the winner to the  talented young violinist.

What a day-and-night … most sure many locals enjoyed their stay and  those people how arrived just for this special day will remember of the fun they had. Heard there will quite a number of visitors from Budapest, just to see these fab. actors “in motion”!

Congrats goes out to the Miskolc National Theater to have in mind as to organized such a  superb day … cooking at the theater’s courtyard  and  holding a n awesome evening on the stage  with the three grand characters of   “Csuli”.  And theevening’s cream on top of the cake was absolutely highlighted  with the grand gypsy violin players.

Needn’t have to say … Verdi’s Nabucco is one of the world’s magnificant opera  and it arrived  to  the Miskolc National Theater!

Verdi’s grand opera, the Nabucco came alive on Friday, February, 22. 2013.  was on stage at the relatively small city of Miskolc’s National Theater compared to the capital Budapest’s National Theater, but even though of the sizes, the theater and the size of the city itself, the opera play was the-night-of-the night’s with a spectacular performance.  The house was absolutely full. The designing of the chorus stage of placement was an impressive catch by the director by using every inch-by-inch the placing of the chorus beside the rows of the audience. So even though the stage was rather small for a gigantic scene, the choreography and the director’s  arrangements were outstanding! Let alone of the high season of colds and flu, the singer vocal performances was acceptable and  good in acting.

Throughout the decades Nabucco stands far with his superior piece of Verdi, who was only 27 years old when he composed this great piece of art. Nabucco opera opened theaters not just in Italy and many parts of the world. The local opera lovers and even from Budapest, groups were interested to see the performance at the Miskolc National Theater. Many may know, but for those „few” who are just going to get acquainted with the opera act here is a brief background:

It holds a biblical story, taking place in 578BC. Babylonian King Nabucco occupied Jerusalem, stroyed the city and the Temple of Solomon, the Jewish people in captivity. Nabucco’s has two daughters: Abigail and Fenena. Fenena falls in love with a Jewish boy Izmaellel who saved his life. Abigel turns out, not a descendant of Nabucco, it is not entitled to inherit the throne. Abigail still decides to take over. Fate favors him because Nabucco declares himself God, when a lightning struck him down, and from his mind confused. Abigail possession of power wants the Jews to death, and they Fenenát, who was on their side. The judgment of the confusion made the minded king stringer as well. Nabucco is a lucid moment and then realizes what he’s done. Desperation of the Jews pray to God who heals and returns the old level. In time can prevent Fenena sacrificed on the altar of Baal. Abigail poisoned himself. The King of the Jews returned to freedom, return home countries.
