This year, Pécs celebrates a special anniversary: 25 years ago, the Early Christian Cemetery of Pécs / Sopianae was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
On the occasion of the quarter-century anniversary, the Zsolnay Heritage Management Association awaits the people of Pécs with discounts, thematic walks, special guided tours and a truly unique wine tasting between December, 1 – January, 4 – for whom all World Heritage programs and entrance fees are available at a 25% discount. Not only local visitors are awaited to roll along the paths and hear the past history of the cemetery.
Thematic programs – for adults and children … In December, several exciting thematic walks and guided tours await those interested.
A night tour with headlamps will be launched separately for adults and children, which will show the mystical face of underground Pécs. Visitors can immerse themselves in the underground cellar labyrinth of the Cella Septichora and the Little Champagne House, or take part in the thematic walk presenting the early Christian tombs. The “Treasures of the Hidden Courtyards of Pécs” program will present the otherwise unvisited corners of the city on Apáca Street; thematic historical afternoons await the youngones.
The organizers will provide a free interactive walking map with puzzles and riddles with each family ticket, allowing children to get acquainted with the world of the Roman era in a playful way.
