In a couple of days at the Courtyard of the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter will once again dressed up for an unforgettable experience at the City of Pécs.
At the 4th Pécs Star Wars Day, visitors will be treated to lifelike film sets, a TIE fighter pilot’s seat, Han Solo in carbonite, around 50 costumed paraders, a true voice actor and exciting fan panel discussions . This year, the event is not just about entertainment: visitors will also support the recovery of a six-year-old boy from Baranya by purchasing a charity raffle ticket.
“The Force will be with you. Always.” – so said Obi-Wan Kenobi in the groundbreaking first *Star Wars* film, released in 1977. Paying tribute to the cinematic saga—which celebrates its 50th anniversary next May—the Zsolnay Heritage Management Nonprofit Ltd., DK Kohó, Banks Props, and the Hungarian Garrison of the 501st Legion are organizing this year’s gathering in the spirit of “A New Hope” (the subtitle of Episode IV). The event will take place in the Pyrogranite Courtyard of the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter and within the E78 building.
Interactive experiences, film sets, and stage programs. Visitors can step into a large-scale Death Star set, view Emperor Palpatine’s throne, sit in the pilot’s seat of a classic Imperial TIE fighter, and even take photos with Han Solo frozen in carbonite. The event’s most spectacular highlight—always a crowd favorite—will be a parade featuring around fifty costumed participants, taking place twice during the day: at 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
United in the Force: A New Droid and a Charitable Initiative, Alongside the legendary R2-D2, BB-8, and K-2SO, the pink R2-KT (KT-45) droid—which symbolizes the memory of Katie Johnson (who passed away from cancer) and the cause of helping sick children—will make its debut in Pécs this year. True to the 501st Legion’s international charitable mission, all proceeds from the valuable raffle prizes drawn at the end of the day will go toward supporting the costly medical treatment of Dominik Sági, a six-year-old boy from Baranya County suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
